It's not really the playing outdoors part but more the not having to stay connected to the TV. It's the convenience factor that everyone loves not walking around town with *bing* *bing* coming out the speakers every 5 seconds.

But how it is more convenient when undocked games on Switch run like shit? Like, you have to limit your experience for portability, is that what you're saying?

The difference is that most of the exclusives up until this past year haven't been that compelling. it wasn't until 2017 that the really good exclusives came rolling in. For Switch they were there pretty much right out the gate and it continues to get many solid first party games to this day. If I dare list a game you'll just say it somehow doesn't count.

Technical limitations have always existed in handheld gaming and as time goes on the tech gets better and better.
That's really only true for the MOST demanding games on the platform (like doom and most modern AAA games) while they do run like shit they're still playable for the most part because it's not the low frame rate that's the issue. The issue is inconsistant frame rate. like if it runs a game runs at 50 fps at max but dips down all the way to 30 than the game will be locked to 30 fps. But the best games on switch are the ones that aren't as graphically demanding and thus there isn't really any downgrade. In most cases though most AAA games are better on PC, PS4 or Xbox depending on whether or not it's a shooter (PC for shooter, PS4/Xbox for everything else) The less demanding graphics is why you see a lot of last gen ports on switch because their graphical demand is nowhere near as high as modern AAA games in the first place so the run similar, if not better than their PS3/Xbox 360 counterparts.
