Kind of, It's still gonna be mostly interlaced unless you run into the rare game that supports progressive, so take that into consideration. Be aware that many modern TVs can't handle 240p over component (this mostly affects PS1 games and ICO).

Try the first one first, it's also fantastic and you can import your characters to the sequel.
