MGSV is the best game in the series so far and it's still cringy Kojima garbage. Before that game the games had both horrible obsolete gameplay and retarded characters and storytelling. MGSV at least attempted to bring tactial espionage into the concept of tactical espionage action.
And Ground Zeroes is a pretty decent single mission in a large game with 15 missions. A pretty good demo for a full game that was never made.
