I think they're still working on it, and this unironically could be the year we see it again. Think about it. DMC5 and RE2 just came out, they have no other big name games this year besides MHW: Iceborne which is pretty much just DLC. What else could they be working on?

I'm pretty sure they originally made this as a tech demo and then unsuccessfully tried to make it into a game.

All we know is that they extended the trademark for the game last year

Apparently it died a quiet death because the game didn't run properly outside of the vertical slice that was shown off at TGS.

At this point I atleast want the main theme without sound effects.

Eh, the gameplay didn't look all that fun honestly.

The guy in charge refused funding and publishing deals, got angry when the game went nowhere and disappeared.

It was a new engine but was ultimately replaced by RE Engine and the game was scrapped.
Which is a shame because I bought a PS4 for Deep Down.

Should've taken that Epic deal.

they have Itsuno who just knocked it out of the fucking park with DMC5, and he has gone on record as saying he wants to do DD2 and do it properly (and we all know Itsuno works best when he's trying to make up for the last game in a series being disappointing)
the trademark for Deep Down wasn't renewed last time it expired, and considering we haven't heard anything of it in YEARS, I think it's dead and they would rather put the resources to use on a different western fantasy game like DD2

I would've loved a new IP, but its assets being recycled by DD2 would be even better. Wasn't a fan of the scifi twist that was part of the whole narrative.

Alien Isolations knocked the wind out of their sails, I bet. A shame, because I wouldn't mind playing what they had out already.
