Boring overhyped trash. Game is short, boring, and fairly easy too. Setting is generic as fuck, not enough areas in the city, endless backtracking, big dude following you everywhere gets tedious after 5 minutes.

Good alternative for the classic from 98.
For nostalgia start with the hardcore mode for ink ribbons and less ammo ( also one hit will send you to danger) but if you are new to the franchise start with normal for unlimited saves and more ammo.
Zombies are not just time wasters but an actual threat and will make you waste bullets the first times around ( they are now like "return of the living dead" zombies), lickers are dangerous as fuck if you don't watch out, dogs are still trash, Ivy's ohk, there is only one enemy who poisons now plus spiders, and Mr. X has been reworked and is quite threatening during your first run but he becomes more annoying later on when you become accustomed to the game, the crows and that one moth are gone.
A & B scenario are still there but zapping is gone( i.e. you don't need to watch out what you pick up during the campaign) but the puzzles do change.
3rd person camera and defensive weapons are now in ( the flashbangs will become your best friend for S ranking the game) also knives can now break and used to break a grab.
The guns are all well and good except for Claires starter weapon ( fuck those revolvers).
explosive rounds are gone but you get magnum rounds for Claire and a sub machine gun too plus blue herbs can be used to get a defensive buff making them more useful and healthsprays don't lower your rank anymore.
The story is still cheesy horror movie goodness ( not for everyone but still good if you like B-Movies).
Several extra modes like 4th survivor, tofu survivor ( which you can unlock) and ghost survivor (which you can download) make for good and fun time wasters.
You can also unlock ( or buy) unlimited ammo guns and costumes.
And yes the modding community does deliver "everything" you want and it's amazing.

you must be grossly bad to run out of everything. pretty much your only options are to git gud at dodging, blast your way out, or restart.
you can abuse Mr X's location if you time it right so he doesn't come after you, but it might be faster just to use the grenade in the room to stun him and then haul ass.

just walk. if you need to kill them use strong weapons and/or close the gap safely then knife to death.
stagger first when he's in the path of the crane, then wait a handful of seconds before activating it. it doesn't trigger a grab if you time it right. also you can end the fight with just one crane smash if you cause enough damage first. this might be preferable is you're already running into the fight with nothing.

I agree, I really wish they worked on the stuff outside the main routes a lot more, but I still enjoyed it quite it bit. it just could have been a whole lot better.
