The worst part about this is how unnecessary it is. It's power up for the sake of power up. From All Might's feats alone we know that with just super strength, durability, and speed of OFA was more than enough to handle 99% of the problems Deku would on his way up. This is what makes really disappointed. When Deku first started saying that I expected him to find a way to use OFA in a way that was completely different from AM and he wasn't just imitating him. He would come up with a style of fighting and techniques that would be unique to him and much different than AM brute forcing his way through. He would actually be able to call the quirk his by the end of the series. He'll now be able to do this with the whole 7 quirks shit, but not because he himself made OFA more special, it changed due to plot convenience. I know people are ok with this because they find super strength boring, but I was really hoping something like this wouldn't happen. I guess I should blame myself for having my expectations too high.

i would also agree that it's much more interesting when a character uses a very simple power to do creative things. he doesn't need a quirk for ranged battle, he could have started throwing peanuts at 1000m/s or something as a way to have a projectile weapon. he didn't need those tendril things or whatever were shown in those manga pages, he could've picked up heavy metal chains as a way to grapple onto things and move around. you could've started incorporating technological gadgets and stuff to his "powers" as a way to solidify his state as more of a simple underdog every-man superhero compared to all the magic bullshit demigods

The worst part is that the author was doing every single one of the things you mentioned. The MC was wrecking his arms too easily, so he developed a fighting style where he'd use his legs instead, with reinforced cleats on his feet for added strenght. Most characters that fit his archtype have something likable about them to balance them out, i.e Roshi and Jiraiyah are mentors first and perverts second, so there's still something that the other characters can gain from having them around. Mineta is a weak hero, poor comic relief and doesn't actually contribute anything work keeping around, BNHA is full of side characters that don't do shit like Sugar Rush or Sero, again, but these characters aren't as wholly unlikable as he is.
I was rooting for Shinsou to take Mineta's spot in Class A since the School Festival arc, still hope that might be a thing.

Team Momo absolutely is the worst. No contest. Deku's fight at least added something new. Team Bakugo was predictable as all hell, so much so that it almost didnt need to happen.

I agree with this. Matches 1 and three where the only good ones where the characters where actually pushed to their limits and forces to improve. the only good part of the joint training arc was Tetsutetsu and Todoroki's autistic waifu war. But even that got ruined in the end by Hori refusing to give Todoroki a loss against anyone but Bakugo

Do it then, Sengoku Youko is his best work in my opinion. I still need to read Psycho Staff. Planet With is so far his weakest work in my opinion, it feels like a lite version of Lucifer and his other works.

I'm more made that Hori made Todoroki fight against a team that had one person who was resistant to his fire and some who could counter his ice. Meanwhile Bakugo fights a team of jobbers then gets praise to high heaven for beating them. Deku's opponents weren't a threat either.

I dunno man Todo feels very underwhelming after the sports festival.
Now that he doesn't have his autistic hateboner for his dad anymore, he kinda lost his edge in more ways than one.
I hope that Hori adresses the fact that he barely has any drive to win/gitgud like in the sports festival.

Kirishima jobbing early is fine BECAUSE he got the 10 chapters to himself in Yakuza arc. He needed the least development going into the arc out of anyone in that class, so him dropping out early freed up time for other people. To a lesser extent, the same can be said for Aoyama.
