the only thing slightly similar between TTGL and KLK is Life Fibers/Spiral Energy, which are still extremely different in their function and purpose within the series. I guess Gamagori's final transformation is a reference to TTGL as well
Go and watch the movies if you haven't already, they're mostly just recaps with some redone animations but they have different climaxes that are pretty amazing, the second one especially. It ends up being a lot more impressive than the TV series's final fight
Movie one covers the first half just right before the Lordgenome battle and has Team Dai Gurren face 3 of the big bad's royal guard all at once instead of 1 at a time after Kamina dies, second one picks up from there then finishes the series.

The main themes in TTGL center around common emotional/psychological issues in teenage boys stepping out into the larger world. At its heart, it speaks out to boys about masculinity and self improvement.
KLK's main theme centers around body image issues, sexuality/sex appeal, and femininity.
its supposed to speak to girls about self confidence and body acceptance, but since the camera usually takes the viewpoint of the guys gawking at Ryuuko it seems more like its trying to have its cake and eat it too.

I love the ones like Ryuko and Velvet (both are among my favourite characters, Ryuko is one of my all time favourites even) but I wish there were more actual edgelords like pic related.
Ryuko and Velvet are nice when you get to know them. Which is cool but you rarely see outright actual edgy cunt female protagonists.

What's wrong with it? That's pretty clearly a training/tutorial screen.
Everything that isn't related to that aspect looks pretty reasonable to me, standard fighter UI with a KLK style to it. The only thing remotely odd is how big the warning text for things like counter hits are, but that's because BIG TEXT is part of KLKs visual style.

the rival character is always the default training dummy/ tutorial dummy. For example in GG Xrd the tutorial is played as Sol and the dummy is Ky, same thing with SFV. Tutorial played as Ryu, dummy is Ken.
