I dunno. I guess.
Ask anyone their favourite Zelda game and they'll probably have an immediate answer.

She's still being confused with Link, so I guess not.

Yes, OOT is one of the 7 games that always appears at the top of every best game list regardless of who makes it.

I feel like right now it is, BoTW made a much bigger splash than Odyssey did
I guess that's the power of a strong launch title

More proof that popularity does not equal quality.

No. People are just more likely to like the cooler swordsman over a plumber. It's why Cloud's still really popular.

All the hipsters and people who don't even play games flock to it.

I don't think so it just had a more popular most recent title.

Yes

Here in Russia everybody knows Mario and mostly zoomers or insecure people hate him, but barely anyone knows about Zelda. Botw granted some popularity.

It did amongst gamers, but Odyssey outsold BotW despite coming out half a year later.

>tfw never played a zelda game in my life

Fuck no. Mario is actually about as iconic as maybe Spongebob. Link is a bit more obscure

no

mario is more well known than mickey at this point. link is not quite there.

First one I played was Botw and it was dog shit. People say its the best one and I have no clue why.

uk is just fifa

You are educated stupid.
Your reward system was atrophied with cheap xp gamification and trophies/achievements. What happens then is you get such an organic display of underlying systems you don't know what to do with it.
You turn it into an exercise in tedium and ruin it for yourself.

Nobody actually plays Zelda

Zelda is a pretty cool guy. Plays gay flutes and doesn't afraid of anything.

not even close, the only thing Zelda has over Mario is its stronger Nintendo Bonus

But Mario has had better games

Ocarina of Time was so damn good, why don't they make games like that anymore?
And Majora's Mask as well, just amazing

Zelda games get higher review scores because of söy chugging journalists who like walking simulators (notice how the actual combat in Zelda is a common complaint in reviews). They just want to walk around the game world and be "engrossed" by the landscapes. Normal people don't care about Zelda

It’s weird. So many gamers and nerds, real or fake, say they love Zelda, but the series has traditionally never had the bug numbers a flagship Mario game has. How does Zelda have so many “fans” compared to people who actually buy and play the games?

It's a pop culture staple.

people like the gameplay of Mario but love the world of Zelda. I liked Zelda but BotW was the first and only one l've played whilst I've played damn near every Mario barring the Wii and Wii U rehash ones

Mario is still the Nintendo mascot and the first thing that comes to mind when saying Nintendo, but as a franchise the Zelda world is unrivaled

No one outside of the gaming community even knows his name is Link.

no

Girls and casuals like Zelda more than standalone Mario games, and don't usually play any pieces of them until years after release.

brits have shit taste.

>Thinking anybody in the UK even knows about, let alone cares about, SotN or any JRPGs.
Only games people here care about are FIFA, CoD and PS4 exclusives.

no
Old dudes know who mario is but ask them about Zelda and chances are they have no idea what you're talking about

No, because most people, especially those who never touched a video game, ever, could recognize or remember Mario right away. People who aren't familiar with video gaming won't even know what the fuck Zelda is unless they have a kid or someone talked to them once about it before, but they won't have any idea what the fuck it is.

Normies, sure.

Older people (25+) and enthusiasts have good tastes unmatched by the casual gamer.

>UK
>new Tomb Raider
>TWO Sonic games
>Last of Us
>Mario Kart
>Skyrim
All that combined still isn't as bad as the US having OoT AND OoT on the 3DS. Are you fucking kidding me? I know you have to suck OoT's dick, but did you really have to give it a second dick to suck?

oof. that hurts.
