This came out on the 30th. Anyone else here played it yet? We had a thread on Tuesday where I was trying it out and sharing some of the things that stuck out about it to me. Come share your OP class combos and team comps. Also, general tactics games thread.

I was interested in it a long time ago but don't remember why. I'm shallow, but aesthetically it looks like shit. The portraits clash with the character models, which clash with the environments. Also don't like the sound design.
Yeah those are all of my main complaints with it. The actual gameplay is pretty good, so it's worth checking out a "demo" copy at some point if you change your mind.
It looks like a flash game. The animations are also trash and slow as fuck. The mechanic are like any other ff tactics wannabe.
honestly this. stylistically it's all over the map and when it comes to indie games the art style is a deal breaker for me a lot of the time. the gameplay itself doesn't look revolutionary or anything but if it were gorgeous i might be able to look past that.
Looks alright but it's a hefty price tag in my native currency of DOLLARYDOOS
The only thing I don't like is the injury system which is supposed to "encourage recruiting new units". It's a mechanic just to waste more of your time on easy battles if you let someone die. There's no function to unequip injured soldiers in one click either and auto equip them on the benched units, so I just turned it off.
You can disable that in the difficulty options. I didn't care for it either, especially since I usually like to just run the same set of characters in these games.
Fuck. I'm absolutely retarded and didn't get around to reading that last bit before replying. Ignore me
I've never heard of it, the art hurts my eyes, and the monster designs are awful, but I'm thirsty for tactics games. Does it have any neat gameplay stuff that makes it stand out?
The story is shit, it's still kinda fun
I haven't played a ton of them. The gameplay is solid and some of the classes are pretty interesting, and being able to use abilities from two classes at once makes for some interesting combinations. I think what another user said about it not being anything revolutionary was accurate though. Besides the visuals/sound, my main complaint is the maps. A lot of them are small and shit. Somehow I still ended up hooked.
>An ancient evil has been awoken
Yeah it is
>tfw using the princess class's Double Cast to send out two map-wide sorc casts at the cost of HP thanks to blood magic
Ah yes. Now to stack the shit out of my MND stat and become a human nuke.
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WORDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ARE FUNNY LOL
This! So much this! DAE new games bad! Old games good! Everything looks like flash game and suck nowadays! Did you know it's also made in UNITY = TRASH all Unity game suck!!!
So, is this nipshit or westshit? The artstyle seems kinda mixed and strange from your image
West. Here's another picture if that helps.
I'd like to have another tactics thread. I appreciate how you provided some insight into this game in the last thread. Unfortunately it's hard to get a good idea about a game from reading reviews because usually the people who write them aren't interested in video games and they don't understand what makes them good. How far are you in this game? Can you comment on the level design at all? I think that one of the most important parts of a tactics game is to have a variety of different battlefields that cause you to substantially alter your approach to succeed. If you're just walking up to enemies in an open field and bopping them it's not interesting and even with tons of different classes there's not much variety in the way the game actually plays out.
Currently I'm playing some R-type, which is a solid tactics game and also manages to perfectly capture the series' aesthetic and translate the gameplay better than I could have imagined a spinoff could.
Oh well, guess I'm out
I finished the story today. The level design is fairly hit or miss. I'll get some pictures of some of the maps in a moment, both good and bad, and you can judge for yourself. They aren't generally open fields, but one or two are. R-type looks cool. I never expected to see a tactics game involving space fighters.
Yeah I don't blame you.
1/2 on the maps
You really have to be a fan of the main series to get the most out of r-type tactics.
Off the top of my head the only other tactics game with space fighters I can think of is super robot wars, which I haven't played much of myself because there are just so many mecha series involved and I've only seen a small number of them.
Having a couple open field maps isn't actually a bad thing, the issue is just when every map is like that so there's little variation in tactics. Now that you've finished this game do you have any concluding remarks? E.g. what srpgs is it most similar to and how does it stack up compared to them?
I knew there was something bothering me about this game and this is it. There's something wrong with the art direction
These flash graphics are disgusting.
and 2/2
I did what I could to get a decent representation of the bigger maps that I couldn't more or less fit on screen.
I love this sort of game, but two negro women? Hard pass.
Thanks. What's the enemy AI like? Do they all rush at you at the start of the map, attack only when you get close enough, or something else?
And do you normally just hang around in a big group killing whoever gets close or are there reasons to split up your army and rush to complete other objectives?
I like how it's literally those flash games where you "dress up" a paper doll. They just superpose the clothes on the same character
I really haven't played too many srpgs. I've played FFT, FFTA, FFT:LUCT, a few Fire Emblems, Fallout Tactics, NuCom, some JA2 (fucking crashes though), and a little bit of Jeanne De'arc. There may be a couple I'm forgetting. I'd say it's closest to FFTA. That said, I haven't played that game since I was a kid, and I never actually beat it because I endlessly fought clan battles with only half my map filled in. I think Fell Seal holds up in the gameplay department, though I remember really liking a lot of the maps in FFTA, and I'm sort of "eh" on most of these. I really like the classes in Fell Seal, and not having to learn your shit from using specific weapons is nice. Obviously the art/sounds of FFTA are way better.
Depends. On rare (usually specific) occasions there'll be units who hang back in fixed positions. Sometimes the human AI will hang back to buff up before moving to you. Usually they just come to you, and it doesn't seem like they really focus your units that well.
>are there reasons to split up your army and rush to complete other objectives?
Not generally. "Defeat all foes" and "Defeat the leader" are the overwhelming majority of your objectives.
>FFT:LUCT
I hate you.
If you're looking for something to play consider Wild Arms XF. You do not need to play the main series to enjoy it.
Call me again when the real tactics game is out
Why, because it's not the original version, or because I fucked up and didn't write TO:LUCT? Honest mistake.
Looks like fun. I'll play that next, thanks.
They can't even maintain a cohesive style for the character portraits.
>level 62
another grinding bs game with stats bloat
Did my post get deleted? Can we not say the n word here anymore?
If this turns into a place where nigger, fag, and tranny get filtered and/or autobanned, I'm piecing the fuck out. Not because I hate any of those people but because SJWs are a fucking plague. Thinly veiled test to see if it's already happening.
>piecing
peacing*
Fucking 4 hours sleep two nights in a row. Fight me.
I didn't even use nigger, I said negro. What fucking bullshit is this.
Where do we go after Yea Forums? I just want to talk about video games without having to pretend I don't hate niggers.
