Pass is vee
I have no idea why but these fucking stutters aren't going away, maybe that sale broke the servers for just gimped me for whatever reason.
But hey, we got a lot of shit to talk about, KSB was this weekend

Spent the weekend trying to play Yuzu again and had a blast after applying what I learned from other characters and figuring out she has a follow up jump to her 236A.

Not sure if it's a sign from god but I have shit that needs doing anyway so playing with me would just be fun suicide anyway.
>Follow up jump
It's a Stance thing, so yeah. You can follow up slashes with a lot of things.

>I have no idea why but these fucking stutters aren't going away
Today was fine, but all week I've had bizarre stuttering in both UNIST and Rev2 with no apparent cause. The tubes must be clogged.

Watch Hishigata get ASHIMI to death by Kyo like what Hairou did to him a year or two ago

421[b] 236a 8 etc is a staple of playing Yuzu

Resetting my router usually solved the bigger issues with my connection but it's been shit the latter half of this week. I reset it around 4 times this weekend when I went online to wind down but nope, stutters with 3-bar connections everywhere.

The stance stuff is pretty neat. Still haven't figured out optimal stuff with teleports but being able to do extra slashes and then follow up with either teleport, 214x or ex versions of the moves is pretty fun stuff.

I'll have to give that a whirl. Been mostly messing around with just 2C > 4B > 236A > 9 and then went from there but starting with teleport to get more verticality might be fun too.

Go watch the streams. You can go watch me or Broken play Yuzu and see some simple shit.

Might wanna practice 66B and 66C since you're going to be using a lot of those to continue air to ground links.

I should have finished my plate that first round. Was trying to eat my cake and have it too there.

Yeah, definitely gonna do that. That one ground combo in particular that he does that ends in 66C is one that I've also been working on.

"He" being Lamp, never really see Icey do that since he mostly plays the teleport game.

End with a 66c? Unless you're doing some 66c into teleport tricks I don't think you should do that.

Combo goes 2C > 4C > j.B > j.2C > j.C > 66C (can follow up this with slashes or teleports, any special I presume).

Sometimes I'll start with AA j.2C > 2A >2C instead.

man this game sure sucks when you're me and know literally zero matchups

You should just end with 66b 236a bac for now.

Only one way to fix that.

Attached: BtPMcy2CcAAdK4p.jpg large.jpg (1024x692, 94K)

Sounds like a plan. I'll get to practicing that.

>he didn't pick up the game and know every matchup and all his optimal routes

Attached: 1554617957600.png (495x375, 202K)

this but unironically

Watching two years worth of arcade videos before actually playing the game on release is close enough for me.

Gonna be studying while I'm waiting in the lobby so don't be annoyed if I skip ya.

I actually learned OS through osmosis entirely from seeing people dodging in non-lobby threads

Attached: 1542238003299.png (259x335, 89K)

So this is how it feels to play people after taking too many breaks from the game. Doesn't feel so good.

Attached: EltnamBurrito.jpg (882x642, 139K)

I learned earlier this morning in combo challenges. If you do 236B>Follow jump>421C>236A you can teleport in front of flying enemies and hit them again. I don't think it has any practical applications, but I was pretty proud of that.

>that CVO activate
>no IW
Bummer. Nice follow up combo though.

Maybe you just need alittle warm up (and a few losses) until you get back to where you were.

Sounds cool, even if it's fundamentally useless.

fuck my life
robbed again

Are you in these online battles? I want to meet my doppelganger.

On PS right now if this is Huolite.

I'm one of the Yuzu's, I think.

Cool beans. Hope we can mirror match tonight if the lineup rolls well.

Did anyone expect the americans to get very far? Who even went, brett, juu, squish?

Good filename.

Squish
Juushichi
Brett
Tari
Drunk Suika Ibuki
Isaac
TTK Touma
Infinity

Jeeze louise, I feel like a smoothie, getting mixed up this bad.

Suika was close actually. 17

And I'm not sure how to interpret this data off of one tournament. Tari and Infinity, especially the latter, died ridiculously early while Squish and Suika died before Top 16. That's still pretty good considering the amount of competition but may not be enough for EVO once even more Club Sega guys show up to party.
I'm aware, he and Squish died before Top 16. Kamone went as far as they did.

Attached: DjO_Wx5VsAAUJHN.jpg orig.jpg (1606x2048, 427K)

I wouldn't recommend 2[C] that close, sai.
I told you about how it just locks you in a predictable blockstring route.

Yeah, I was definitely feeling that one hahaha. I'll definitely change it up. Maybe 6C instead or something.

6C would definitely be a better choice since it's relatively a lot safer and pulls your hitbox back a bit to catch people trying to poke out with short ranged pokes.

You can't tell me that's learning Yuzu! You're already grandmaster level!

>stop playing for 2 months
>forget everything
Back to square one I guess.

Attached: 1430730984028.gif (450x188, 1.95M)

I wouldn't say that, haha. I didn't even get to use the 236A into air mumbo jumbo stuff I was trying to get down.

Maybe next time I'll get 4B out of the setup to see if I can get more consistent with it from 2C.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing actually after thinking about when I was watching some Frosty streaming of Enkidu over the weekend as well.

Usually he'd end with 6C > 22A/B, or something along those lines.

Fuck. Off. To. /v. g/.

Have to leave early PC lobby since I have to take a quick 4 hour nap before my morning shift. Thanks for bullying me so I could slowly get back into the groove, will be trying to come back into the lobbies as soon as the semester ends and I get off this horrid morning shift.

Attached: Eltnum (2).jpg (2500x2524, 446K)

Nice one Huo. Definitely seeing improvement!

ggs. I can never force myself to stay up late on Sundays.Gonna have to leave right as Sha shows up again, as usual.

Fug, do I risk the stutters to fight Sha tonight?

Attached: 1511594202945.png (300x500, 174K)

GGs

Not to say the american UNI players are bad, because they're not, just that with so many buff ass jp players I'm surprised anyone thought theyd do great.

incredible, insightful, and ontopic post user

I dont scare if you dont scare

GGs. Thanks for the fun mirror matches as always!

Man, I went to /afgg/ yesterday, and of 100 posts, 92 are about tripfags and discord. You gotta cherish what few real vidya threads there are.

Seperate note, when I cry myself to sleep tonight, I'll be thinking of you Sairoux. That time out was crushing.

Why are you replying to him.
Don't even give those posts the time of day. They don't give a shit if they're right or wrong, they just want these threads gone to /vg/
Ignore them

It is a shame though there are people that play games there so if you want to get a set going you just have to ignore the name drama and scout out for people interested in playing. It's how I was able to try out Chaos Code with another human player before and find out it has surprisingly decent netcode (played WC vs EC and it ran smooth).

Also, I thought you were gonna win that for sure with one more slash hahaha.

He's new to these threads so he wouldn't know about ignoring said posters.

Attached: 1551168103448.jpg (662x982, 78K)

>I dont scare if you dont scare
Well don't say I didn't warn you

You can measure the time solely by how my play degrades. Having morning shift really makes joining these hard.

Looks like hippie was right about the massive stuttering.

Gonna reset my router.

alright man you were definitely right to warn me

Damn, after a decade of lurking, you'd think I'd remember not to feed them.

In another act of foolishness, I've gotta dip for a bit. One of my friends needs a light carry in MH, and I can't leave him hanging. Keep this shit alive, I'll be back.

Sounds good. What weapons do you main by the way?

I usually run GS and GL myself though S&S. DB, HBG and Hammer are also great times to be had.

Sorry about that, looks like I'm laggin like crazy, if it keeps up I'll leave

>"maining" weapons in MH

Attached: 1546792011716.gif (500x500, 352K)

Well since we're left with a small crowd, I think I'll try resetting my router one more time after this. One of you make another lobby, I'll be back.

No idea what's up but I guess my internet doesn't want me to play tonight. Thanks for the quick games PC lobby

I've swaxed since I started with 3U (forgive me). It's fast enough and has range. I can GL alright in World, and I tried to get good with the GS while going back to FU.

Only because of armor part farming and all that jazz though I do want to give all the weapons in each game a chance. Also I tend to suck at some of the other ones sometimes, haha.

Also, I didn't expect Sha to have a pocket Yuzu.

I'll get to hosting it if you want.

So i pirated the game because i am poor. Is there maybe a way to play through LAN with a pal?

eeeeeeh after working outside all day ill just play tomorrow dont feel like staring at my computer now and falling asleep while waiting for a turn.

Attached: 1552092505835.jpg (1600x1200, 293K)

No worries. I started with 3U as well (played alittle of the PSP, Freedom Unite I believe it was called but didn't give it a fair shake). I definitely hope the roster gets expanded well in World because GU spoiled me on the monster variety.

Also tryna learn how to Hunting Horn. It's the forbidden fruit of weapons.

Americans will lose to Euros too

Attached: D4r6-RfWsAA2mR3.jpg (1199x675, 153K)

lol

Yuzu is the closest thing I have to a sub in this game

GU was a treat. I love that ending boss.

You denied Japanese dominance and now you really think Yurop won't destroy you simply because they generally don't dip into anime. They do however fuck you up in KOFXIII and 3S unless you adopt Mexicans

Who the FUCK denied Japanese dominance?

Makes sense. That execution was on point.

Agreed. The songs that play along side the different phases emphasizes it's awesomeness.

Also let me know when you've rehosted hippie.

people here

Otherwise I'll just keep hosting. That's fine too.

This match-up always reminds me why Enki is bottom tier

Attached: 1556818606627.png (489x424, 129K)

Dang. The Sunday night lag is still on. I don't mind playing through it though.

You know what, I don't think this is working out at all. I might as well call it a night myself if I'm all I'm going to be doing is putting myself on pass.

Last (You) you're getting from me.

Better luck next time. See ya next time!

cope

Looks like you're getting things going now JK. Nice stuff!

Is it worth buying?
I mean, unist characters are in BBCTB.

Yes

why

I can't really begin to compare the differences between the two versions of the characters.
I mean, if it's simple as you put it then you probably don't care.

Dude, I am loving Unist, and the 30 seconds I spent in CTB didn't seem fun. It's 15 bucks on PSN, and that's where these lobbies are.

Slowly but surely.

You can do alot more moves with the characters than in BBTAG.

Also if you like the cast in BBTAG, the rest of the characters are equally as fun.

>back to back flash kick ex

Neat.

Why is mika so perfect brehs?

>eltnum gets a full combo from j.a
do any other characters have this

Because the characters in Tag are ridiculously simplified compared to their original renditions?

is it more fun than BBCTB or not.

Yes very more fun

we're obviously more biased towards unist but I would say so

It's fun. Play Akatsuki.

Yeah, I'd definitely say so because I find GRD mechanics a lot more fun than Tag's systems.
Tag's got some neat ideas that I appreciate in a Tag fighter but I don't think the rest of it can support itself too well.

I'm pretty sure all characters get combos from j.a, but what combos they get exactly depend on how deep the j.a hit and whether it was an assault or a regular jump-in.

i won a single game, ty and ggs

Attached: zen.png (349x324, 32K)

gg, seth. never saw one in the pc lobbies before, so it's pretty interesting.

That grab off of flash kick was pretty sick JK.

Thanks.

Err was it drill, either way, cool stuff!

Which japanese linnes should I be watching to learn from?

you're all pretty impressive ill try to catch up

thank you Yea Forums for being awake

Jikangire

>the accidental veil off
aw fuck

GGs PC brahs. There's something I wanna lab real quick and then after that I'll probably head to bed. Fun times.

No probs, if this is D0D. Seems you've still got as great execution as before.

Damn.

yeah its me, and thanks!

GGs. Thank you for the mirrors.

So I've got this list of important throw OSes, and seen them in the tutorial as well.
How do you go about applying these against an opponent, ie. determining which set of options to keep covered at a given time?

How active are the PS4 Yea Forums lobbies in general these days? Haven't seen too many of the people I used to play against in almost every thread lately.

Maybe it's because I'm always here, but it's a busy time for the guys in university so I'm not surprised things have slowed down in the past couple weeks. We're still trucking along.

>that last spin at the end of that move
Hahaha nice catch.

Monday-Thursday sees more people at around 6-12 players. Sundays are usually slower with around 4-8 players showing up.

you try to keep track of their habits and make reads based on character/distance/advantage, and go from there

Darn. Those moves felt quite satisfying to pull out in Round 1. Hopefully I'll be more consistent in getting that out when I continue to improve with Yuzu.

Actually, scratch that. I think I'll stick around a little longer.

I usually attend almost every night, but my PS+ expired last weekend and I'm busy with work so I'll pop in tomorrow or Tuesday.

that makes sense, been away from college so I can work so I forgot that was a thing. I'm going back next semester though.

What times during the week do yall tend to start, my work cut my hours so I'm free more often but I still work graveyard shift.

9:30PM PST/12:30 AM EST usually runs 3-4 hours.

She's pretty cool, I still like Phonon more but I wanna try learning Yuzu for awhile pretty soon.

How long did it take you guys to learn how to read and actively adjust to your opponent?
I feel like I move and think at turtle speed compared to everyone right now.

fuck, thats right after my shift starts ;_;

Phonon in my experience is really fun to mess around with all of her tools for controlling the space. It's also like she has 2 DPs which is nice for mixing things up with. Also, dem long range normals.

Bummer, maybe you'll get time to play on some days off or something (unless you only get weekends off).

Took me like a month of BBTAG to get basic awareness in fighting games and about two months of unist to actually gain a basic understanding of fighting game mechanics.

That being said, sometimes Sundays get busy, maybe things will pick up in the coming weeks after finals.

Also, someone tried to start a Friday night thing a few days ago IIRC.

It takes a minute to get better at it, you gotta focus on and practice trying at faster speeds and keeping calm while doing it (angry/salty quick decisions are no good) even if you lose for it at first, because your W/L ratio does NOT equal your skill level. I feel like I'm usually pretty quick about it but it depends on how I'm feeling mentally. May sound dumb but drinking lots of water, making sure to breathe normal, hand warm-ups, and regular breaks help ALOT.

This Twig Palm Yuzu color reminds me of Tessa from FMP.

Did not see that intro to round 2 coming, haha. Nice!

Yeah her range is really nice, she plays like a pretty standard character but with much better range, that plus her consistently high damage makes her really satisfying to play.

>pixel health win
the best kind of win!

Attached: 1551260379303.jpg (1451x2048, 423K)

Late response, but this is just me sucking ass at finishing Yuzu's combo. I don't recommend it either unless it's the corner combo, as you're missing out on a lot of damage

Just short of a grab, haha. Also, those lows get me everytime.

I appreciate the response, even if it's late. So I guess playing zoner until the opponent gets in or I have them moved towards corner is the better way to play then?

I haven't really gotten anything optimal down but I am enjoying what little new stuff there is for myself that I've been picking up. Also, practicing to be consistent and not drop the 66C feels like a good idea at least.

I'm gonna switch off Phonon and mess around a few subs for bit if thats cool with yall on PS4

Orie's buttons feel so good. Good god.

Attached: 1532569779069.png (800x600, 219K)

Don't worry about it m8. These lobbies are all about improvement. Feel free to pick who you like.

Probably the best 5a in the game by far. It's either a B-ranged A, or a A-speed B.

>better way to play
I'm not sure what this is comparing to

>Those polygons

Oh lordy.

Attached: 1501201926987.jpg (456x434, 100K)

GGs pc lobby

Melk you're way too good at teching my grabs, are they even used that often in high level? Or am I just being too predictable with them

What I mean is instead of running in to get an overhead and start that combo, I should be playing the range game and letting them come to me so I can work the combo in.

Mileage may vary depending on character (like Vat for example). I guess teleports would be better practiced there.

I wonder Frenchbread announce something after the EVO...

I would say Byakuya/Seth have better 5A's but hers is still mad good.

If they weren't scheduled for EVO they probably would have revealed something earlier.

I was actually using throw OS's for once. But yeah, it was a little predictable. Variety in pressure will come with more Linne experience.

But maybe they announce some new characters or something.

>the double projectile stack
Didn't know she could do that. Neat.

Both ways of playing are equally valid. Ideally you would use both since people are more susceptible to being opened up when they focus hard on dash blocking Yuzu's slashes

Cool, then I suppose I haven't been doing too badly to learn how to play her then. Now to learn the timing on when to act out of teleport more appropriately. Good to know, thanks!

No shit? Everybody is expecting new characters. You been living under a rock?

youtu.be/qAxIRZdYSag?t=245

A combo with a similar concept to what you described. Corner-to-corner carry and looks stylish as hell

Welcome back, Huolite, did your hunts run smoothly?

Style is the most important part of any game.

I dunno man, most of my squad likes to sit around and talk, and that usually means like 15 minutes between quests. When we finally do head out, I'm trying to horn hard enough to keep my team alive.
Casual friends are a curse.

Darn, was hoping to get ya with a dirty ex counter. Nice read hahaha.

Sounds comfy at least, even if they're dropping like flies. Some of the Monsters in the highest difficulties can do some mean damage in MHW (assuming that's the one you are playing with your friends), especially after post-launch patches that nerfed all of the traps and bombs.

I imagine it would also depend on the MU, like Phonon and Hilda can fight her at range alot better but have shitty defense so going for mix would be higher reward, whereas you'd wanna keep your distance from Hyde and Wagner since they have really good defense and their pressure is hell.

New person in the lobby, they can catch this whip for a bit.

Man, these are LR Odogarons. All my healing posts, horn songs, and wide range usually just barely keep things running. They play MH like I play UNIST.

Oh, not the whip!

Ah I see. Well that can be a pretty tough fight if it's any consolation. He's the one that causes bleed damage right?

That and fighting him in those poisonous caves (if I remember correctly) could be a pretty good wall for new players to overcome.

>EX into CS into Super
Witnessed!

Yeah, I'm probably pretty jaded after having run through 4 of these games.
And I am NOT a fan of the whip. Phonon's win quote even calls it annoying. They knew!

>EX Missile right back into pain
Nice, hahaha.

Huh I didn't know you could get a hit with FF off of 236A like that. Neat.

Also didn't know you may be able to convert off Mika's 5C (I believe that is what it was) into 236B for potentially setting up another combo.

Tonight has been quite educational.

Attached: 1554708305482.gif (500x500, 148K)

GGs guys, it's been fun but I have to go.

GGs JK! Thanks for showing up. Glad to see all the steady improvements made as the matches went on. Til next time!

GGs!

Is Redblade still the best NA unist player?

I don't think there are too many tournament level players here besides D0D who could answer that question unfortunately.

Its a toss up between him and Squish. If had to pick I'd probably say Squish but they're almost dead even honestly.

GGs again PC dudes. It's 4am and I'm barely awake so I super gotta go now. Fun times.

Attached: 1541058140920.png (200x200, 47K)

Isn't D0D the discord guy who said the lobbies here aren't worth playing with

I believe somebody posted something along those lines last week. For what it's worth, he is pretty good at the game.

Damn, I know I'm basic, but I wouldn't mind never seeing another Phonon.

It can be a pretty difficult match to play against because of all her tools. You either have to out-range her or play patient.

Nice cross-up there D0D. Looked cool.

I mentioned that alot of people on here haven't gotten the chance to play offline really and fall into strategies that work alot better on netplay. That sort of thing can make it pretty hard to get ready for tournament and grinding MUs at higher levels. It doesn't mean yall are shit or aren't improving it just means if these threads are your only source of consistent training partners you're pretty likely to develop some bad habits.

I can see what people mean when they say learning Yuzu can mess you up with other characters.

I'm finding myself falling into attempting her blockstrings and attacks all of a sudden and j.2C-ing and 2Cing way too much.

Not everybody is aiming to play at tournaments though.

Whats getting you vs her? I play her and have helped people with that MU, I can probably give you a good answer.

I'm about to boot up, bros.

Roger!

Having caught all manner of hands, I'm cooly retreating.
I think it's just that I suck at ever knowing when I've got a window and when I'm just boned. It doesn't help that I'm always up against pinks, but it's all good.

GGs m8. See ya next time! Looking forward to seeing more improvement!

What I thought was easy hit turned into an easy punish, hahaha.

Thats totally fine then, I know people from these threads who are trying to do that though, so for them they also need training partners who understand offline meta a bit better.

I think a good 3 or 4 of them meet up at locals I believe.

So all of Phonon's rebeats are minus on block, usually between -2 to -4. Trying to straight up react to though will get you killed since it slows you down, try to get a read on where/when they like to rebeat into 5A/2A whiff and make the read with the appropriate button. Also you wanna keep GRD (and 100 meter if you don't have a meterless DP) so you CS > DP during their pressure or Guard Thrust out.

Hot damn, this game's gonna take awhile.

GGs guys, had a good time!

It's about to be 3AM West Coast so I think now's a time to call it.

GGs PS lads and thanks for sticking it out with me for fun games tonight.

Nice job showing what for with Phonon also D0D. Was fun even though the pressure on the receiving end was intense.

Glad I got to get all that Yuzu practice in for sure.

Attached: 1553731188236.jpg (720x1024, 79K)

People see UNIST's easier execution and how the cast is simpler compared to other anime games like GG/BB/etc and say the game is really easy, when in actuality its a pretty difficult game to really master as far as system mechanics and making good calls on defense. Remotely competent Phonon play just kinda serves a barrier saying "you must understand this much to enter" whereas you don't have to play quite as solid/tight vs the rest of the cast until higher levels of play.

Thanks! I liked your Linne, you didn't let me upback fireball for free when I had meter and you were able to play patient as her when you needed to!

Patience is definitely something I've been needing to work on since I usually play a pretty aggressive style so I appreciated the matches we had for sure.

All of those air conversions you made to get those sweet combos were pretty darn clean.

Hopefully one of these days you get off on a weekday so you can face some of our better regulars.

I want to say it's a bit more than that based on the 3-4 people just in the Chicagoland area and since several of the west coast guys also go to stuff.
good morning everyone

I actually can't wait to go to Evo and get blown up with my online Yuzu. Though I promise to land a 421b IWEXS on some shmuck.

Good morning! A shame you missed out on some fun lobbies earlier. Hope to play you later if you'll be around later tonight.

Is there anyone else here who's terrible at UNIST and doesn't know any combos? I want to play against someone of my own skill level.

Attached: 1556586764766.png (642x528, 496K)

Well, the good news is that I have my last in-class exam ever in 5 hours and the bad news is that I have another final project and a take home exam due later this week.
assuming I am who you think I am

We've been getting a few newer players lately and there's one person who's been around these parts before that is still working on BnBs so if ya want to do beginner's lobbies, just come by at the regular time and ask.

I'll throw one up and play some secondaries/random characters to ease you in (since most people here including myself just started out by eating hundreds of losses before we got okay at the game).

Looks like hippie was right when he said it'd be a slower couple of weeks due to winding down of classes.

There are a few people in school here so I'd rather not take a shot in the dark hahaha. Best of luck on that final project!

Thats great to hear! Hope you enjoy yourself.

If anybody still wants to play on PS4 I can throw up a lobby

I will, Hippie said he's going to stab me with his gay little butter knife and I can't wait for that.
