Ed, Edd & Eddy was fucking garbage. I remember watching it because there was nothing else to watch. It was nothing but unpleasant characters doing anxiety driving things to each other.

There's some good potential for unique gameplay elements here.
Just shitting out whatever comes to mind;
"Combat" or general interactions that are based on scamming players for their money, which is the only way to get Jaw Breakers and increase your power. Basically instead of kill or be killed it's scam or be scammed. More money = more jaw breakers = higher level. Losing too much means stagnation.

If you initiate a scam, there's a chance the other player can "figure you out" (how this will be expressed varies, it could just be a result of an overkill for example) and you lose any amount of money you were carrying (like when the kids find out the edds are scamming them, so they beat the shit out of them and they lose ALL the money they had on them, regardless of who's it was).
You need to gather resources to create scams (just like the how the edds just used scraps of a bunch of random shit around them). The higher your level, the more complex the scams, the more complex the scams, the more resources you need as well as needing more rare and specific ones. More complex the scam, more = $, but the more $ you make the bigger the loss if you get "caught" before you ever get to bank it (buy Jaw Breakers and consume them).

>Sarah being smart enough to make a shrinking chemical
>Double D’s room is a mess
>double D on a skateboard
>the Ed’s willing to drink something from Sarah

There's a tiny chance sarah peed in a cup, ill take the risk

The point was to see things through the exaggerated and imaginative lens of rural kids in summer time.
The show did such an amazing job representing aspects of child like spontaneity in the context they provided. And the characters were very well defined. Jokes were clever enough for the show to still make you crack up as an adult and slapstick is timeless.
Don't even get me started on the audio, every second was jazzy music, even the silence. The dynamic jazzy trumpet combined with the wiggling outlines and colorful atmosphere made the show feel so damn alive. The clever use of animal noises and sound effects to make things hilariously surreal and unpredictable (edd gets whacked in the head, hear the sound of a bull moaning). It always pleasantly catches you offguard.

The best part is that there's no real plot and no sense of continuity. Every episode is a filler, it's akin to Trailer Park Boys, Seinfeld and perhaps It's always sunny. Every episode starts off with some random circumstance, a sense of a "goal" that will immediately be completely side tracked and almost damn near forgotten because of some new unpredictable problem suddenly overshadowing the last. There's rarely if ever a lesson learned, the characters are consistent in their flaws and hardly ever grow. Every episode is essentially a what if scenario where you get to see how things would play out if you put these variables with these characters. Due to how perfectly flawed they are, it plays out in a hilarious and highly creative manner thanks to it being a cartoon. You never know whats gonna happen inbetween, despite knowing full well how it'll end (the edd boys get their ass kicked and lose the money they tried to make, Ricky Julian and Bubbles get into a bunch of trouble with Ricky and Julian likely going to jail, whatever it is that George Costanza was trying to accomplish will fail miserably, Jerry will find some petty reason to ruin it with that girl etc.). God I loved this show.

well said

I could go on and on but hit the post limit and I doubt the thread will last long enough for enough people to care. But even if you didn't enjoy EEnE you have to give it so much respect for doing everything so perfectly all the way through to the end. Even as they extended the show and in the later season presented a new context we've never seen before, summer is over and the Edds are in school. It was the same wonderful thing! Because like I said, it always starts off with a scenario and a sense of a goal before the nature of the characters and the variables around them led them astray into chaos and hilarity ensues. We got to see exactly what we should be seeing, what would happen if you put the kids in the Cul De Sac in a non summer, school environment. In terms of the characters, nothing new, but the variables being changed means the possibilities are endless. They even almost completely threw out the entire goal of trying to get Jaw Breakers/money (something that they did often before anyway), which would have actually been limiting. Nothing was out of reach now, we got Christmas and Halloween, fucking aliens, that episode with rolf and that traumatic memory of a man wearing wolf skin stealing his sheep. They basically said with these characters, no matter where and when you put them, it will be consistently funny and creative with no drop in quality or increase in predictability.

Cont.

Maxed out my Rolf Urban Ranger class.

And then they have the nerve to end the show gracefully with the most amazing one hour special any show could have gotten. One that broke all the rules on purpose, because it was meant to be an end.
The episode had a plot that was followed through to the end, we got to see Eddies brother and have closure on that after he was so hyped up throughout the seasons. We got to see beyond the Cul De Sac like we never did before, and of course, the last thing that happens in the show is that the characters fucking grow. A legitimate antagonist for once is introduced only briefly at the END of the special, and it forces all of the characters to come together, overthrow him and GROW. The show ends when the characters for the first time ever actually learned something and became better as a result, contradicting everything from before, the perfect way to say "the show is over now because these characters are no longer the same".
It's no wonder it was CNs longest running show. A masterpiece of a series.

Anyone know what happened to that kid who grinded rolf to ultra instinct?
