To add to the whole shottype thing, don't think it matters much so far, but for the spirit effect thing stuff like the bomb and life spirits bosses drop for clearing a spellcard without bombing or getting hit are like wild cards in that you can pick them up without needing the matching spirit to correspond to it. For example, if you have 3 otters and you pick up the life and bomb spirit then you still get the otter barrier effect. Very nice.

From what I understand, what ever zombie goast you choose affects what will actually activate for you if you collect enough of that animal spirit. I.E. if you chose wolf goast, you collect red wolf goasts so that you can do a super powerful red goast attack. If you chose otter goast, you get green otter goasts running around you protecting you from all bullets (except lasers). It's more about what is the majority by the time you collect five things, and if you currently are Going Goast, then whatever else you do collect (red bundles, point bundles, lives, etc.) are automatically unlocked and ready for you to collect a second time, and when the time runs out, you stop Going Goast and any non-goast thing you collected gets released onto the stage for you to actually collect.

From my short test it seems like you need at least 3 of a GOAST to be able to get the power up, I collected 3 point items and got no power up from going goast apart from the point items releasing at the end.
Also Youmu has the focus sword slashes back, they are so fun and the Bomb on that shottype is so cool.

Stage 1, Stage 2, Boss 1, Boss 3 => Great, I want to listen more and more.
Stage 3 - I think the melody is pretty solid, but the instruments could sound better? I wonder if it's to invoke some feeeling, but the main trumpet is too shaky, I think it could grow on me.
Boss 2 - Sounds pretty retro I think? It's really dissonant, almost like a NES/Famicom tune, the melodic segment is good but the rest, not so sure.
I can't wait for the rest of the soundtrack.

Holy shit this game is like UFO but way way better. Instead of being forced to grab UFOs just for lives, points or bombs, you collect UFOs for insane powerups that also act as pseudo bombs where if you get hit during it you don't die. The shield seems really fucking broken, you can just scam half a spellcard for free, and the eagle's spread is nuts, turns your shot into basically Master Spark for a couple seconds. Wolf seems the least useful, higher power in focused type isn't that great when all you use it for is clearing spellcards sooner whereas the shield will let you skip a whole card and the eagle will let you hit everything.
Youmu's wolf is insane though, may as well be spread.

Collect goasts for the one you picked and have the duration extended. Getting hit while powered up will cancel it.
Any goasts collected while powered up will be released at the end of the duration while item types will be instantly released during the mode.

Collect 3+ Eagles for a powered up unfocused shot, collect 3+ Wolves for a powered up focused shot, collect 3+ Otters for a bullet destroying shield(doesn't do damage or at least not noticeably). If you collect more spirits in the middle of the powerup, they slightly extend it. If you collect item spirits in the middle of a powerup, they activate immediately, otherwise if they were used to fill up the 5, they drop their items at the end of the powerup. Powerups can be broken with the bomb key or upon hitting a bullet similar to borders. Powerups can be active in spellcards and don't count against capturing unless broken like borders. Which is really strange considering they're massive powerups that do extra damage or destroy bullets. If you let a powerup end by itself, they you get 2 extra spirits for free. Where you are on the screen determines where items and the free spirits release so being lower is better generally. Dying results in you getting 2 extra non-changing spirits depending on the shot type you initially picked which are denoted by blue borders. Spirits with red borders are expiring and will leave unless you collect them soon. You can stick close to spirits to prevent them from changing.

It really helps that instead of giving you another thing to worry about when completing the row, it instead just straight up gives you a boost instead. I feel like I had a bunch of headaches trying to kill the UFOs I spawned before they ran off which outright resulted in me using bombs specifically to destroy them.
