Because Brig literally breaks the game mathematically without much actual skill required from the player (with other characters at least you're playing a shooter-MOBA hybrid, with brig you're just playing a first person MOBA) yet Blizzard refuses to adress the glaring issue because they don't want to make her useless since she's Jeff's favorite character to play as.

No one within the OWL community wants to admit it but everybody who was part of it and has left know it.
Simply put, if you take away like two or even just one hero per match, the amount of skill demanded within that match increases greatly and pretty much non of the OWL players can compensate for that skill increase.
Remember, all the teams were built and were trained surrounding the GOATs comps or at the very least some sub variant of it.

It's since the very start of the game that only 8 character tops are meta, making you end up with mirror matches more than half, if not all, the time. New characters didn't change a thing about it except which heroes are part of that 8-character meta.

mobashit can somewhat avoid that pitfall because it has like actual inter-character synergy and variable playstyles due to item buying and shit, overwatch has absolutely nothing like that, its not a fucking moba, bans wont do anything but replace the top level strat with the next best thing because the game is strategically barren, the actual gameplay variation comes in the form of player action and skill turning rather than character builds and like resource ramp/macro decision-making
blizzard doesnt realize this, and tries to balance it as though its wow arena, because they dont employ anyone with any experience doing anything other than playing wow, so the entire community writhes and suffers under the watch of people who have no right holding the position they do

And this is the reason why this meta can't be "patched", because if they want to patch this meta, they would have to literally rework 90 % of their heroes from the ground up.
Now why this meta is op
>it has a shield
>it has an undestructable eating everything dva shield
>it has speed boost to remove the only disadvantage of a slow shield
>it has enough healing with no aim brig and lucio heal
>it has enough health because of 4 tanks (brig is everything, a tank, dps, and healer)
>huge dps because of zen
>the ults are insane from "god mode" heal, short hp boost, armor boost, best cc in the game, one shot dva ult which requires the enemy to either hide and get killed why hiding or die, and a grav which pretty much means a win in every team fight
And even if Blizzard would rework those three heroes and remove shields, then we would be back with the widow meta. And if Blizzard would remove one shots, then we would have a soldier meta etc. The biggest flaw in Overwatch team "balancing" is, that as soon as you have different heroes there will always be one meta which can't be defeated. Especially the Mercy meta showed, that if teams play at full potential, the team with the meta always wins.
