So much of the fun of these is sharing the experience and they've been taking baby steps with online and multiplayer the whole franchise's life, now is the time

This one's the most important, villagers feel more alive when they actually have unique personalities instead of all falling within set archetypes and their only identifying marker is a catchphrase. Being able to express negativity and having character-specific dialogue would go a long way, and I don't mind at all if they'd have to pare down the sheer number of villagers to make that feasible.

Most of the villagers in GCN were unique despite sharing archetypes. It hurt to learn Cube was just a generic NPC going forward.

She's a ditz, workaholic, and has a long fuse that nonetheless can be triggered. She's also apparently intelligent enough to have multiple engineering degrees.

You'd be forgiven for not knowing this for how much she's actually characterized in game on screen though.

More town customization, better dialogue, more stuff to do with friends. And more furniture that actually does something. Like a coffee maker that actually makes coffee.

I agree on the point of general blandness, but before I started reading other peoples' take on New Leaf, I read Isabelle as a frustrated 2IC desperately hiding her seething rage underneath a mask of niceness. She was passed up for promotion and refuses to speak to you in any non-official capacity.

There's a very good reason they've taken so long to create a sequel. The game is so bare bones they can't possibly iterate on it, therefore releasing a "next game" is impossible. Think about it, what could they POSSIBLY add? All people seem to want is more fleshed out villagers and more stuff. Is that really substantive enough to base a whole new game around? I think not, and it seems like Nintendo agrees with me. There's going to be a really integral new gimmick in the new game, you mark my words.

Drop the whole mayor thing and instead give me options for jobs so there are more things to do during the day/night. Instead of them being just fetch quest or answering questions based on pure memory or more likely cheating (coffee shop) make these jobs be more like mini games you can play for bells. I remember one of the surprisingly cool things to do in Mario RPG was when you couldn't afford the deluxe room in Marrymore and you were forced to be a bell hop for other customers. AC should have a hotel option as one of those jobs that would take place of the camp site NL had or be something that can be upgraded to. This would allow multiple visiting villagers to stop by and you can convince them to stay based on the quality of service you give them. It can be like room service for certain foods/fruit or rearranging a room because certain picky villagers don't like the layout. Or killing roaches I dunno. I enjoyed ACNL a lot based on how visually appealing it was, but you ran out of things to do super fast. Taking the simplicity that Mario party introduced with their mini games would contribute greatly to the series.

I doubt it considering Animal Crossing Plaza's models are just ripped from NL but with higher quality textures. I imagine it'll be more like Pocket Camp (which also doesn't have a rolling world), hopefully without the cel shading.

Why not? The most substantive things you want are changes to the villagers and more options for customizing the town...that's just adding a little or slightly changing stuff that's already there. The rolling log thing is the only problem I see, but that's hardly enough to build a sequel off of by itself.
