These new retro-school old person shooter first-style games are everywhere now, have you played them? Here's what I found:
AMID EVIL >level architecture looks super nice, it resembles the geometric nightmares from the other Lovecraft stories that barely get touched upon >new enemies every three levels >your starting axe is basically The Hand from DiU >your rocket launcher fires PLANETS >the enemy cast being flushed every 3 levels means the better enemy types will never reappear again >it's TOO vertical with barely any shortcuts, basically there's a lot of platforming and tightrope walking later on and if you fall you either fall in a instakill pit or have to walk all the way up again >there's a jetpack power-up but only one level ever gives you it officially >kind of easy even on EVIL setting >you get too much ammo for your BFG >shit boss fights
DUSK >graphics are barely passable even though it was made by one guy >controls are SUPER smooth >only gets any good by E2 >the better enemy types appear too late into the game >DUSKMARE (one hit kill mode) is actually interesting to play on considering Cero Miedo is too ez >has a lot of interesting setpiece levels that make for a more memorable campaign as a whole as opposed to a bunch of abstract levels arbitrarily strung together, even if said levels hurt replay value a bit >actually atmospheric at times >you can slide under bullets >shit boss fights
Overload >spiritual successor to Descent by original devs (think Doom in zero g) >actually well optimised for an Unity game >level design is super elaborate, some levels fully embrace non-linearity and let you pick the three keys in any order >AI is actually really good with enemies who have actually distinct behaviors which benefits enemy diversity >graphics don't use any kind of retro meme style and look just fine, and the explosions look nice >actually has ng+ mode where lategame enemies appear as soon as level 1 >shit boss fights
I thought DUSK was braindead 'circlestrafe em up' trash at first because I played it on Cero Miedo and because most of the projectile-based enemies are easily dodgeable, but it was surprsing how much more sense the game made when you play it on the one-hit death mode Kind of like playing a first-person bullet hell

>blood remaster soon Fucking where?! You best not be pulling my leg, user.
Anyone play Project Warlock? I'm curious if it's any good.

Hearing Stephan Weyte at the end of Dusk gave me a boner. I don’t know how they got him, but I’m glad they did.

either this month or june

They only announced it last December, so probably sometime by the the end of this year. Nightdive is handling it right now.
Hunter Collins
Nightdive also did Turok 2 didn't it? That was a stellar port

I finished free version yesterday. Its very good. Level design is superb. Guns are also great. There is a lot of lore scattered around the map, if you are interested in that. Soundtrack is fucking nice, when you are fighting large number of enemies some rock kicks in, but my fucking god, the fucking ambient that plays when you just exploring the map is godlike, it sets the mood right, creates atmosphere and tension when needed. Highly recommend.
Exactly, which is why I’m glad they’re working on remastering Blood.

Dusk is an overhyped meme.
>enemies that only shoot you or run at you. that's it. no variation beyond that except for the 1 enemy that explodes upon death >level design is "my first quake map.bsp" >piss easy on any difficult >generic, basic bitch metal OST
>main genre is fps >tried but can't stand meme royale >mfw the only active multiplayer fps without that zoomer mode is tf2 and r6s Please end this drought and make some proper fps again already.
