no

Potentially, but having BN only threads and resorting to waifuposting only has so much mileage.

Well he said megamn so maybe any of them are fair game

Make no mistake I love BN threads and it was fun to shitpost and LARP as navis last night, but the best megaman threads are 24 hours or break the bump limit.

Is it time to talk about BN?

Attached: D5ZW1GhU0AEFcYX.jpg (1448x2048, 493K)

Yes, and I challenge Yea Forums to a netbattle RIGHT NOW

Attached: advancedPET.jpg (768x1032, 164K)

Why so many gays in megaman threads

Has anyone else played the TCG? Decipher went under before they could make more than 3 sets, and the play is a bit basic.

Has any user got a list of must-play Megaman titles?

Get a load of this: youtube.com/watch?v=e3kQ1uIBWfQ

Depends on what mood your in. RPG, platformer, action?

I'll recommend what people don't give enough love to, so X8, Command Mission, X6(If you know what you're doing it gets better), X4, the entire zero and ZX series, and MM7-8.

I want to replay it but I'll probably end up using cheats for zenny at least

Nice. I was honestly better at Star Force since I didn't have a GBA when I was younger. I should try and fix that eventually...

Any recommendation is good, thanks.

Thanks!

Man, something like this covering the Zero/Weil/Omega/Elf Wars plot would be handy.

which bn games should I play?

OSS, then play 2 and up

what is oss

Operate Shooting Star. It's a DS remake of BN1 that adds a ton of qol changes to make the game bearable. It even has an english patch ready to roll.
Trust me, BN1 vanilla is a fucking slog.

What QoL improvement does OSS have over 1? I thought it was exactly the same with that TimeMan scenario added

Why do MM fans here only discuss BN most of the time? Is there that much more to them than the other stuff?

Battle Network is ridiculously popular, my dude. Probably nostalgia, too, since it was one of the early GBA titles.

Does Megaman prevent Lan from looking up porn, or he is okay with it?

while lan faps to porn megaman rocks roll

It's either that or X dominating the discussion. The Zero series and legends are constantly overshadowed by sheer popularity.

Lan has to finish his homework first.

Attached: megaman_in_pet.png (265x198, 44K)

You can run without needing an Escape chip, battles end faster, there's a map on the bottom screen, chips have been rebalanced and updated, you can play as SF Megaman. It's a much better experience overall.

So what's Yea Forums's take on StarForce?

It's soulless compared to Battle Network

I enjoyed 3 a lot more than half of the BN series

bros...

...

Looking for dat Guts booty I see.

Funny how Bass in the Classic games just feels like a roadblock while Bass in BN feels like a genuine terror

I'm of the opinion absolutely no supplement should address the Elf War in any prospective release.

The events around the Elf War is a massive lapse in logic that can only make sense being introduced piecemeal after the fact. To the point all attempts to expand upon it just make it worse and more obviously dumb.

They essentially upped Bass' power in BN by a factor of 12 while Classic Bass was supposed to be on par with the player in power.

BN Bass looking to legit tear some ass apart

3 had a solid conclusion story-wise. I prefer 2's design choices, mainly Ninja.

Who /BCC? here?

Attached: crotch cannon.png (240x160, 7K)

I bought it for the battlechip some time ago, it's vastly underrated. Makes me wish the other games in the series let you play as other Navis and focused on them for a bit.
Mayl enters the tournament just to spend time with Lan if you play through her story.[Spoiler]

kill yourself bandwagoning faggot. SF AND BN are one of the most soulful things in vidya.

Yeah, I revisited it recently. I'm genuinely surprised how difficult the later rounds can be, especially that faggot Elecman and his all Remobit 3 folder.

I barely passed through where Navis started using Guard, but Thunderman and his absolute decimation of my chips is terrible. I can only counter so much against Satellite3.

The best method is to use chips that have higher priority for the turn, and ones that hit every chip for damage. There's a lot of hidden details like that.

What did you guys think of Starforce's 4x3 grid?

Attached: 1496609110367.png (500x500, 271K)

Honestly, the new combat (being fresh off BN) really turned me away from giving the series a try. I've been feeling the itch to at least give the 3 games a try so I can have an honest opinion. The most attention I've ever given it was 3's pvp, and that's only at the meetups.

Attached: D4nQIxaUwAANvJP.png (634x897, 995K)

I personally felt it allowed for direct intimacy regarding how lock on worked. Then again, I've hardly scratched the actual BN series despite growing up with it because I didn't have a GBA.

God 5DS was so comfy
why the FUCK did they not redo the rest of the games like that for DS or 3DS

6 shoukd of been on the ds. it came out during its period

is this from the DS remake of 1? It's patched now?

lan created the star carrier

I don't even want to imagine their navicrests. I have many questions about that image, Lan looks high

4-6 in general should've had much more time in general
Reminder that MMBN1-6 came out in within 5 years

It's been patched since late last year.

Does anyone have a link to the forum where they patched all the games to not need linking for the chips (from the WII U shop I think) and then further patched 6 to get back the boktai stuff?
Also am I the only boktai fag? I stumbled upon 1 and 2 because of the big carts and fucking fell in love, no wonder I'm such a MG fag now. I bought pic related at launch with lunch money saved up over a couple months to get a DS and this freshman year of HS. Literally starved for vidya.
I was depressed for months when I found out there was a 3 and it never got released. Thank god for that patch.

Man BN's still got a lot of ideas it can go through

For all the (rightful) shitting on MMBN4, adding normal navis as enemies you can fight was a great move.

>Normal Navis
>Heel Navis
>some of the new viruses, especially the lamps
>the aesthetics of the Soul Unisons
>LaserMan
>Roll being able to be fought

I can't fully hate BN4 for these things.

It really added that feel of "Wow, I'm fighting a navi, not a fucking virus". The best was the Heel navis cheering on the virus.

MMBN4 is a fucking masterpiece and my favorite entry of the series

unpopular opinion alert

I'd like it more now that I know what it is, how it works, and what to expect from it. But it felt so different from MMBN3, kinda like the difference between Starforce 1 and 2.

Why the DS remake didn't do 4 and combine the tournaments together is beyond me. That's the one with the most potential, replayability, and benefit to having both versions.

What took them so long? After the whole epidemic you would have thought it would be a priority.

pretty sure the entire earth getting fucking destroyed was more important

I'm unfamiliar with Kamen Raiders. I thought only specific ones mimmic'd or stole other people's powers.

And to be honest I don't recall anyone but Lan using Navichips.

What are you talking about? Lapse in logic?

And still no fucking Glyde.

Kamen rider decade's whole gimmick was using the power of other riders, including taking their form

same goes for Zi-O

It's ridiculous how good the soundtrack is.

Okay but, just so I understand, it's not every iteration/individual Kamen Rider can do that. I'm trying to grasp the comparison.

The sequence of events shows that this is the logic that follows winning the worst war in history. Killing billions of human and reploids
-The heroes to knock out the most destructive war machine in history.
-The dark elf
-Weil has been captured and is put on trial.
On the former
-They launch Omega into space unguarded, unguided and leave him in an orbit that can deteriorate.
-They also put Omega's already large battle chassis inside a larger body equipped for fucking battle to "seal him".
While they might have attempted to destroy Omega in unspecified ways beforehand. This world gives up their only working space ship as a prison and basically parked it on their own back lawn. Rather than sending him into the sun, onto Pluto or Jupiter or just out of the solar system.

On the second
>The court of judges presiding over the trial decide to RELEASE THE WORST CRIMINAL IN HISTORY
>Supplements say these same judges were personally made by Weil, no one sees a problem with this outcome.
>It's also the ruling of this court to MAKE HIM IMMORTAL before sending him out and put him in a body that is only physically large and dangerous. But also has hands, and therefore is capable of interacting with the outside world
So again immortal mad scientist that can make more evil robots. No one fucking cares to watch him, and when he comes back no one even remembers a trial happened.

On the latter
>The Dark Elf just leaves. Even though is last reported in custody of Zero and X since taking it stopped Omega's control over any nearby reploid.
>Sometime later the Dark Elf comes back. X, without informing anyone: decides to sacrifice himself to seal the Dark Elf away.
This is just insane here. Any other solution that doesn't deprive the world of not just its genius omnibenevolent ruler, but any actual leadership at all would've been preferable. X had the fucking peace he wanted in the years prior to this, his Zero era depression over fighting is no excuse.

Is this guy actually a reliable source?

To be fair, there's only one Star Force theme and four Battle Network themes.

Capcom's going to spy on us through potatochips?

I don't get what he's doing. Is he trying to subtly leak something? Wouldn't he or his source get in trouble for that? Or is he being paid by Capcom to vaguely flirt with everyone so that they get excited and expect things?

Thanks for the new monitor wallpaper user

How fucking cool would it have been if they brought back Bass in SF

Imagine, Bass survived all these years on the net from the BN era and maintained that allpowerful status in the SF era

I always liked to describe MMX4 onwards to MMZ as a "DBZ plot" because of how absurd things are when you actually analyze them
Still love them though

That part is great, I remember I heard the transmission themes in these videos
youtu.be/qaEvDY0dQLQ
>this was 12 years ago

I liked it probably only because I was thirsty for more BN type

user, no. Solo would just nothing personnel him and steal his powers or something stupid. It'd just make all of us angry.

I mean if Bass is supposed to constantly be getting stronger since he has a GetAbility program, he could argubly asspull himself to fit the plot
At this point he's basically a petri dish of a Navi and multiple bug clusters

>bass is just completely unhinged

>crossover with MMBN was amazing
was that only in JP 6 and some hints at Boktai such as chips and souls in 5DS or was there something else I was not aware of?

To get a feel for each "type" of Mega Man game, this is when the style of gameplay really crystallizes for each type:
Mega Man 2 for Classic
Mega Man X for faster paced with more emphasis on shootan
Battle Network 2 for the RPGs
Mega Man Legends for the action/adventure games

If you like any of those game styles after trying about 20 - 30 minutes of playing each one, then:
For Classic: play em all. Order isn't very important for the story, but gameplay features get added starting with 3.
For X: play all but X7. It's bad. Then play the Mega Man Zero series. Then play the ZX series. Story is more important in this bunch so play them in order. X7 introduces the playable character Axl but is otherwise covered in X8. Then weep with ZXA's cliffhanger.
For BN, play them all. Someone more versed in the games than I can give you a good rundown on which version of each game past 3 to play. Then play Starforce for more of the slightly different.
For Legends, play all of them. Legends has a prequel with The Misadventures of Tron Bonne which you should play sometime after playing 1. Then weep for the MML2 cliffhanger.

Have fun.

I wonder what the background for heel navis is
this was a very exciting addition when I first played 4

just don't go into any random corners and you should be fine

was there any stage in BN that was a pain in the ass when you played through it?

I remember for some reason, I sucked at the BN5 mini game with the 100 charging guardians in End City that was part of the main story

Yeah, that was JP only, and there was a crossover in JP SF1 too, but I was refering to this specific crossover.
youtu.be/nQRQNzwFf-4

>Boomer family
>Everyone hooking up random shit to the internet
lel

I liked 4 at the time because I was excited for multiple play throughs where I could see all the new navis and small substories in the tournaments

I'm also a superfan of BN though so I eat up anything that even looks vaguely like BN

BN1 on a DS cart, as if that was the game that was worthy of a DS cart

the map alone was worth it
its easy to get lost in bn1

Imo the Cybeast plot point in BN6 is up there on the stupidity scale with whole SF2 plot

BN2 and 3 had the core feeling of the BN canon imo

I know, it's not like we can count on Crapcom to actually write anything good in.

We can always dream though

After playing BN1 the thing that impressed me right of the bat in BN2 was the network design. How wide the pathways were! How colorful everything was! How different the areas were! Playing the game was a pure pleasure since it fixed my main gripe I had with the previous one.

this, fucking this

The web 2.0 design of 1-3 felt a lot more real than the retarded rounded and over the top colors of 4-6. Also big sprite MM was kino

BN 1-3 and 4-6 operate on different principals. 1-3 treat things with some degree of respect for internal consistency, despite all the cheesy bullshit that occurs.

4-6 threw all that out the window and computers/the internet now run on plot-convenient magic.

2 and 3, sure, but 1 was a fucking disaster.

Someone in one of these threads a couple of days ago tried to ask me about how I 100%'d Battle Network 2 and what guides I used. On the offchance that user sees this: I used a handful of the guides on GameFAQs to find certain things, most prominently the full Library list to see what was missing from my library at any given time, the Virus Guide to see what viruses dropped the chips I needed and where to find them, and the P.A. Guide to learn what all the program advance combinations were and go through the list using them for the P.A. Memos after I got all the chips. I also used Armads' general walkthrough for a few miscellaneous things, like the trade chain quests and finding the hidden NPCs.

I'm sure at least half of this shit is probably available as in-game information if you comb the various BBS areas but I've never been one for that.

Some of them might still get you. KnightManV2 or whatever is placed right in front of a purple mystery data in BN2.

Attached: 220px-Mega_Man_Battle_Network_2_Coverart[1].png (220x220, 124K)

that's awesome
I only own the first Boktai cart
Was really excited to find it used back then

How about some humour?
youtu.be/casxY02yS2A

BN6 was good, and I didn't even mind the Cybeasts since they were established to be an entity like Gospel and an anti-virus creation gone rogue.

What I hated was "MegaMan is in danger again!" kept happening the whole game. And at the end, instead of something cool, like MegaMan turning into Hub and defeating Nebula Gray, you just have to get saved by Colonel.

This list doesn't include spinoffs or collections. For spinoff must plays:

If you like the BN aesthetic but also like Classic gameplay, play Network Transmission.
If you want more MMX, play Maverick Hunter X and Mega Man Xtreme 2. 1 is ok but 2 has some new stuff. Play them before X4. If you like the MMX aesthetic, laser scarves and FFX battle system, play Command Mission. Play it sometime after X7.
If you like Classic, play the MM5 Gameboy game, Mega Man & Bass, and Powered Up.
The best way to play the Mega Man Zero series is the DS collection.
The Classic Legacy Collections released recently are a fine way to play those games. The X Legacy Collections are a bit dicey depending on what you play them on but there are some neat features as well. Be warned.
If you like Classic then it has a shitload of spinoffs: fighting games, racing games, board games, soccer... If something looks interesting, give it a play. BN has a crossover with Starforce and a few spinoffs as well, so give those a look too.

Have more fun.

it's funny, I played the entire BN series in the exact reverse order.
By the time I got to 1, it was bittersweet since it was a relatively poor quality game but I wanted more BN as I had 100% completed all other US versions.
But yeah, BN2 and BN1 are night and day difference. Imo, BN2 is the most uniquely charming game in the series. BN3 is a very close second. Nothing else stands out.

based retard

Found a copy of BN1 and it's on the way. Just need Blue moon, Colonel and both 6's

Attached: 20190476567.jpg (1632x918, 534K)

To be fair, wooden madlib scenario writing is the bread and butter of 4-6 (hurr tournament go help this faggot so you can fight them later, hurr need a navi to open door for liberation bullshit, hurr need navi to go save megaman), it's just that 6 is better in most ways that matter.

>1-3 treat things with some degree of respect for internal consistency
This is a good way to phrase it. This is why 2 and 3 are really the core BN games imo. Everything else revolves around them.
4 had a the faint charm of 2-3 but did a lot of things wrong.
5 was imo the blandest and most forgettable overall atmosphere (plot, setting, etc)
The liberation missions were painfully tedious and a substitute for creative story and RPG elements.
6 is in a world of its own, getting back on track with some core elements of 2-3, but still maintaining tedious filler aspects of 5. The cybeast plotline is pretty hard to chew on wherein the plots of 2-3 are fluid and arguably true to the universe.

can vouch for this response. I always used Gamefaqs as the core source, hopefully all the guides are still there after all this time.
I have 100%ed every US version this way.

Yeah, he has sources that have been right multiple times in the past. He's the guy who runs the Rockman Corner fan blog, for the record.

>JP boxes
jelly. I own all US versions but only have boxes for Falzar 6 and Proto 5. Was too late to buy them new since I played them in reverse order.

>Battle Network 6 lets you control your friends' Navis
>you don't get to control GutsMan in Gregar version
>you don't get to control Roll in Falzar version

This is bullshit.

I really liked the 6's plot, except for what an user said earlier, Megaman constantly needing saving.
I'm probably in a big minority when I say I also greatly enjoyed liberation missions. I can see why people hate them, it is not exactly what you would expect from a BN game.

youtube.com/watch?v=uuMDZGcEYEI

Nice collection, senpai, do you know moon or are the JP ones easier to find?

might get a bn3 black to play on a US DS (assuming this works)

have my US BN collection but don't want to overwrite the 100% files

Not the collection user, but they"re fairly common on ebay

BN6 is the only one I've yet to play. I like the structure that the first two (three?) games had, where Lan tries to do something, gets caught up in the disaster of the day, fixes it, and goes to bed. Rinse and repeat after timeskipping a few days, all leading up to finding the big bad's lair. Does BN6 do anything like that, or does it continue trying to change things up like BN4 did with the tournament setup and BN5 did with the liberation mission gimmick?

GBA and DS are both region free.

while there is a bit of strategy in liberation, a lot of it is "grind through the area since you don't know which panel the key is in". That was the biggest pain.
If you looked up the key locations, it was easy painfully easy to go through any area in the fastest set of turns possible.

thanks, saves me a search.

you use another person's navi rather often, that's the gimmick

Little of both. I know enough Japanese to get by and they are fairly common on eBay. I also think they look way better than the western boxes. Would love to own all the western copies but boxed they are hard to find. I have 3 boxed and the carts for both 4's, 5's and 6's in english.

It's not even all that hard, from a design standpoint, to fix 1 (make the traffic dungeon actually challenging, nerf the obscene difficulty of the power plant dungeon, make the net less of a homogeneous fucking nightmare to traverse), 5 (chuck the soulnet nonsense, excessive net-as-dungeon cheating, and liberation missions out a window or make the latter far less tedious to complete, and build actual dungeons for fuck's sake), and 6 (don't retcon the entire series to cram in two bosses, one of whom is acknowledged to be recycled from a previous game even, and every other plot point should not be "ohnoes megaman go crazy").

4 is beyond repair; scrap it for parts (seriously WHY was THIS the game where you could fight normal and Heel navis (and Roll!) and then never again?!?) and excise it from the canon.

I've actually written up an appropriately autistic design document of sorts for a theoretical reboot/relaunch of the games for Switch, so I've given this way more thought than any sane individual should.

Daily reminder that:
>It's been 14 years since X, Zero and Axl started going down the Jakob elevator
>It's been 11 years since master Thomas decided to reset the world
>It's been 19 years since Roll and Tron started working on Trigger's rescue mission
>It's been 10 years since Mu Metal entered Geo's body and an inevitable fight to death with Solo was foretold

And none of these will ever happen

I’d like to hear that design document

Maybe I'm a turbo autist but was anyone else bothered by there not being a true postgame in BN.

I hated how when we you got into doing postgame 100% completion activities you were always stuck in the same pre end game environment with the same "problem" music and same NPC dialogs.

Would have been awesome if there was some post game state where everything was resolved, all music reset to standard, and all NPCs would have unique post game dialogs or something.

Can FreezeMan's scenario in BN2 be changed to be less horrible? It tanked my enjoyment.

Someone remind me because now this is gonna bug me. Did BN3 have the crisis music constantly at the end of the game? I know the net was drained of color permanently at that point but I can't remember if the music was changed too. It sounds really stupid and I almost can't imagine that being the case.

The music is normal, but yeah I hate how everything feels “stuck” during the postgame
Except the fact that Chaud has new dialogue for Protoman fights, anyway

youtu.be/tPOm7oqFNt0

Attached: 1556930189471.gif (250x250, 458K)

>chuck the soulnet nonsense
that was cool in its own way as at least it tried new things and provided a glimpse into the Hikaris' past. It's the excessive net-as-dungeon that is arguably the worst shit in BN5. They even rammed liberation missions into the postgame.
>dungeons in general
I always drooled for plot in the games. Dungeon scenarios were always kind of a drag because it felt like the plot took a pause for you to complete comp1,comp2,comp3 with some stupid puzzle where you run around and have to deal with rand encounters etc.
My favorite BN components were when you went to X place on the net to solve Y mystery related to the plot. Exploring the net in itself was a fun activity. Exploring comps (dungeons) was tedious and you never really wanted to go back to any unless there was a worthy item, as it was almost always an empty area, devoid of NPCs and anything interesting.

Is Gutsman the only enemy to use a Program Advance against you?

>tfw you just want everyone to be happy
>they're all happy for a second in the postgame custscene when you beat the final boss, but it's a fleeting happiness that can't be lived in or saved (quite literally)

it was awesome how it had a location in the real world, below the hotspring iirc

I don't think it was ever explained in canon, but it leaves a lot of interesting implications. It's little shit details like this that make a series awesome.

is it because BCC doesn't have a plot and is just making a folder and watching it being run through?

Do we need to brace for the reality that even if a BN remake were to be made in any sort of fashion, it would likely only cater to the JP audience, which still has a much larger fanbase?

> implying thats a bad thing

>Mamoru and Serenade have the same emblem
I love seeing details like that

BCC has a plot for each character. This is the stigma that keeps people from actually diving into the game.

The plot may not be the more complex, and does involve a tournament setting, but it makes up for it with challenging you to build a folder and loadout in a limited capacity. I honestly wish they had made another using assets from the later games.

BN2 grinding for the mole encounter and popup chip drop
I think WoodAura was a pain to get in BN6 due to the low encounter rate of that virus and that it would always show up with a group of other viruses, further decreasing the drop chance (there was a prog in the navicust to get chipdrops all the time but still)
bugfrag grinds to feed the bugfrag trader to fight Bass (iirc)

hm, what else was a pain?

Attached: tumblr_nnx2hf53981sibomdo1_500.gif (435x362, 38K)

>I honestly wish they had made another using assets from the later games.
I guess it was never popular enough.
Was cool that we got some exclusive characters out of BCC like Ring and Turboman and their operators

Honestly I can’t remember much besides MMBN3 and trying to get navicust parts for certain styles and trying to get unique chip codes

>it would likely only cater to the JP audience
How's that a bad thing again? Unless you're saying it won't be localized I don't see the problem there.

It would probably just get bumped up an age rating like MMX legacy collection for having bleeding in X4.

yes because there can not even be a slight chance of anything ever being offensive or innuendo like in any game these days
the days of soul are over

Fucking Moot asking for shitty Iceball M chips.

What are some "Inafune forgot" moments?

2 was a fucking ride with it's translation. We even get a "damn" out of Lan.

I guess if you were after a certain style, that would have been a painful grind.
I never actually did this, I suppose you would just modify your behavior/chip usage to guarantee the next style to be the one you sought

The entirety of trying to 100% BN4. Not only do you have to do it 3 times for story shit, certain chips are locked behind the playthrough you're on. Better not miss something on your second run, or it's gone forever.

it's not a bad thing
guess it's just if you're inpatient for localization and if an official localization would ever happen in the first place then those are the disadvantages

MMBN got a lot of JP exclusive stuff that never made it out to other markets

yeah, that's the most obvious. Can't believe how I missed that.

>Having plot for each character grants stigma in the playerbase
How does that translate into people's heads? It's pretty great for exploring that angle especially the lives of the other characters especially Mayl's pursuit of Lan while he's absolutely dense

I'm sure you could get anything you missed using the bugfrag trader, or am I remembering wrong?

2 cell games and an entire arcade cabinet that shit out exclusive chips.

>waifuposting only has so much mileage.

Attached: ksg.png (189x346, 32K)

Even it's contents changed based on the run. 4 was a special kind of hell.

Attached: fuck this i'm out.png (129x112, 3K)

haha, I remember now
that was quite a pain in the ass to get if you were not consulting a guide

iirc you could only get it with a navicust that attracted certain virus types

>"It's good!"
>"Then why hasn't there been any new sequels?"
>"Because it's aged poorly and outdated, but it's good I swear!"

a "damn it to hell" too

We got screwed out of a ton of chips in the US, Mattel only released a fraction of them aside from the other PETs never being released.

just play BN6. Not outdated at all.

there was also a JP zoo that did some BN promo but can't remember how far that went with merch and actual games

Say what, (dusty) motherfucker?

Attached: 20190504_210611.jpg (4032x3024, 3.01M)

The Hanayashiki event. I remember they sold a very limited quantity of the 4-inch Nels at NY Comic-con 2 years ago, I missed out due to work.

Attached: 4inch-nel-rockman-exe-hanayashiki-style-1.jpg (600x677, 170K)

Yes, but BN's plot is written for children, and tends not to try to beat you to death emotionally, hence less powerful waifufagging.

(he said as he hurriedly kicked the Mayl/Shuko porn commissions under the bed)

Good old Gauss. That plane level was a fucking trip.

I ain't afraid of a nigga missing his PET cover, come @ me and bring a cable over.

>got the PET and chip packs when they came out (the US BN4 style PET)
>broke almost instantly, for some reason, the small ball that handled the encounters (or whatever it was) did not work.
>even took the unit apart and could never get it to work again

I also remember there being a purple Bass PET. That was rather weird, but must be a collector piece now

Ready when you are

Attached: 20190504_211441.jpg (4032x2268, 2.87M)

would have liked to get my hands on one...
I honestly thought the IP was stuffed in some Japanese file cabinet until I saw this. Was surprised. Never realized JP still had such an active fanbase

The ball is supposed to move back and forth with contact against the board for encounters, I would think the best way was merely cleaning it off from whatever accumulated dust. As for the purple PETs those are imports that never came into western markets.

>only 54 IPs
>1/3 of the thread was talking about soccer
It's literally a glorified chatroom.

What's the easiest BN/SF to 100%?

Japan still has active meetups just to play the various entries in the series. We've had a few similar meetups in NYC, but never with the same frequency as Japan.

Did we ever get a translation for MMBN3 black?
Reminder that we basically got the beta versions of the games

Blue is just Black, and the White version we got applied the fixes in Black.

who's your favorite nenavi?
I'll draw some smut of them when i get home

>I would think the best way was merely cleaning it off from whatever accumulated dust
Thanks, I will tell that to my younger self.
Still have the PET and all the chips though.
>purple were imports
that explains, did US only get the BN4 PET?

Numberman

For BN
2 is pretty easy
3 is also easy but probably more difficult than 2 since there are V5 chips and a larger postgame secret area

For SF
They're all painfully easy. Just the standard grindy elements

Iris (the well written one)

Yes, and the English advanced PET II is currently one of a kind in the hands of some Youtuber who obtained it somehow. Mattel listed it on their website and either never released it or made it so limited that it was virtually unheard of to own.

youtube.com/watch?v=xUT4QUx9YuA&t=587s

Yeah, we only got the advanced PET. Though someone did dig up a prototype of a PET2 from Mattel that obviously never made it to market.

iirc Black just had some exclusive Punk related content added in.
I don't recall if there were any other differences between Black and Blue

You gotta wonder..
If Hub had survived, who would have ended up with Mayl?

Elecman, he has the absolute best design.

Attached: Mega Man Battle Network Sprites BG.png (1940x1321, 161K)

Honest if common answer, Bass.

Though I can happily do without spoiler unless you want to make like other artists have and do genderswap. Never have seen Megaman defeat Bass quite that way before...

I would have fun at those... I'm a stupidly large BN fan but only have US versions. Never had access to Ebay when I played the games so always had to track down all physical copies, mostly used.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make and I already played every game in the series user.

I'm just saying Anons keep making this dumbass argument that this series can't be revived or at least be remade by an indie dev because "it's too old".

Attached: yjom2.jpg (208x204, 15K)

there's only one in BN,no?

Black and Blue are virtually the same game. The Punk chip is available through an event.

Not him, not smut, but...

Attached: J1kCPXR[1].png (757x681, 141K)

A few cosmetic changes because the English version ran out of memory and they didn't want to shell out for chips with a larger capacity.

What modcards gives you the white and green bodies?

That's interesting. Guess they pulled the plug on the advanced PET pretty late in the process.

I remember seeing the Japanese BN6 style PETs online and drooling.
Was the classic BN2/BN3 PET ever a product? Sorry for forgetting the names of these, its been too long.

The plug in PETs were released only in Asia, but the first PET was never made as it revolved around the anime.

Mod Cards #89 and #90. Says it right there on the image.

BN2 used the same PET as BN1.

Best PET design hands down

Attached: ProgressPETConcept.jpg (1644x802, 513K)

>Make a cool beast system for the final game
>It actually sucks
Probably one of the shittier attempts to balance gameplay.

Fuck me I wish I still had mine.

BN4 mod cards are some shit

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 25K)

>no battle network collection where you have to beat each one to unlock the next game
>no online multiplayer battles

Threesome

6 is more along the lines of 2 and 3, yes, albeit with the occasional gimmick of evil spirit battles and controlling someone else's Navi.

I had to buy this over ebay for 30-35 bucks, I lost mine too. It's kind of beat up and with all the shaking lately I might have to open it up and blow out the inside with some compressed air.

How many times have they had to restart the thread number count now? 4?

Attached: ProgressPETColors.jpg (3601x2015, 3.78M)

Dammit, mine's still in storage.

Shows what I remember.
so the PET toys started with the BN4 style PET advanced.
the BN2 style PET was weird. Was there ever a clarification of the concept for it besides what was in the game?

The original idea behind the BN1/2 PET was for it to be an all-in-one kind of pc/pda. I can't imagine making a toy out of this design.

Attached: PersonalTerminus.png (972x1463, 1.84M)

Were there any interesting bugs/glitches in the BN series?

I remember there was a serious permanent slowdown problem with BN4 if you did a mission in some way (IIRC)

The original concept however was some real wild shit

You can use them on Emulators now. The folks at RockmanEXE Zone made a pack of every card.

Those designs sure do radiate some late-90's energy.

That's true for the whole series, though. Everything was much more stylized in that blocky, late 90's early '00s aesthetic. Honestly I'm glad that got shitcanned in favor of the relatively timeless designs we ended up with.

For some reason when I beat MMBN5 Team Protoman it would freeze during the final cutscene when I emulated it once. Not sure why.

Played a bit of Star Force, got bored. Played a bit of Star Force 2, got bored. How does Star Force 3 get it right? Im aware that Black Ace shits on Red Joker for whatever reason, although theres probably a romhack that addresses it.

Share obscure BN things

Here's one: There was a way to get Z Saber by transferring it from Zero 3 to BN 4.

they're all equally boring imo, with SF2 being the complete shitshow of the three

I could never get the same satisfaction out of SF. The most enjoyable thing about the game was that it resembled BN

Wasn't it a chip?

Friendly reminder that Legend and Phantom of Network will be lost games soon since the Japs don't want to share the cell-only games.

Yeah, you got it by linking up BN4 to Zero 3. You get the Z-Saber chipin BN4, and the cyberworld in Zero 3.

That theme quality is so good, makes me wish they used better sound outside of BCC.

Not familiar with these; is all the game data server-side or something?

The Cyberworld is already in Zero 3 by default. Additions to Z3 were all done through e-Reader cards. I'm positive the linkup between Z3 and BN4 had no benefits fro Z3.

It's locked to a certain cell provider that you need proof of being a Japanese citizen to sign up for their cell plan. At most you would need someone to buy a phone that's compatible, then download the two games, then rip the entire phone's system onto a pc. It sounds more complicated than it is, but the Japanese are very protective of their shit for some reason.

you could get boktai soul by having boktai 2 in your GBA slot while playing double team DS

I've never even seen gameplay of it before. Maybe we can use a phone model with a VPN and some shmuck's number to pull it off.

There's a small group of us working on procuring it before all is lost, but as of right now, we are totally fucked.

Feel like the magic is lost if I start looking things up

do these have overworld and story like the standard BN game?

What's got you on the ropes?

That magic is the only thing that keeps BN fans alive and united, user.

Attached: image99.png (879x769, 591K)

it's nice to see that a lot of the original BN videos and sites I was browsing 13 years ago are still around today

Mostly tracking down the correct phone model. While Japan is a plethora of electronics, sifting through and finding a seller of a compatible Docomo phone has proven to be a real pain in the dick. Then the whole getting a phone plan that comes after that. I honestly wish there was just one Jap with some balls to come forth with it.

The overworld is a grid-based map (cuz flip phones in Japan), but the combat is the same. The addition here is the "trans-arm" system, which works like Double Soul, except it's just the arm in Legend of Network.

Being extremely realistic, are PETs and NetNavis a possibility in our world?

We're waiting for user to finish the map editor, and he posted an update about it in a mega man thread just a couple nights ago. It's happening.

Attached: death.png (480x320, 8K)

this is a general JP thing that is fascinating to me

they have all these convoluted ways business is run there that don't make much sense with US models

the idea of a net navi is all kinds of fucked dude. in cartoons it would be great, but seeing the trends of the internet now net navis would be awful.

Plus only a fucking retard would think that True advanced AI with free will and internet access would be cool with being our servant.

Japan will be extinct in a century thanks to their horrific culture, and they only have themselves to blame.

>mfw Shanghai used Shining Browser Crasher

Not really. We'd have to overhaul the entire structure of the internet to make them feasible.
The closest we can get are things like Alexis and Cortana, and to be completely honest it's better that way. Battle Network's vision of the Internet is terribly inefficient by real life standards.

Attached: AWESOME GOD.jpg (711x401, 62K)

>tfw exposing a netnavi to current twitter
It’d be horrifying

Net Navis would have to be some sort of advanced AI implementation that has not been achieved at this point. The PET would have to be a dumb terminal networking that AI element to the much larger computing source powering it probably. The AI Navi would not be self contained in a PET. That's a vague guess at the possibility

I rather like how Shanghai appears to be an amalgamation of all the best parts of the Battle Network series without feeling too much like a retread.

I wish I had found this thread a little earlier than 450 posts in.

It's cute how you think a net navi going SJW is the worst thing.

I'm talking more of navi's taking in all the gore and fucked up fetishes. Navi's seeing the darkest parts of the human soul without the proper understandings. A net navi wouldn't understand what the fuck horny is, they just see you drawing pictures of fucking a decapitated head. The wars and xenophobia that make up human history.

Theres no way in hell they wouldn't ban together and fucking kill us.

Attached: badass.jpg (2000x1199, 256K)

BN4 is easy to combine with it's randomized settings, but how do you combine 5 or 6 where elements are linear and the bosses just replace each-other?

Use filters on the catalog so threads you want to see are at the top.

That's true. Been a while so I forgot how that's how they differentiated things.

At best I suppose you'd have the other games Navis as part of some sort of Undernet Bonus dungeon?
Otherwise I guess it would take too much work to expand the scenario to allow both bosses.

This game was a torture for my 10 year old self.

Not at all.
5DS is just both games on one cart. You select which version to play and that's that.
It does come with the bonus feature of being able to swap navis during liberation missions with their equivalent from the opposite game, but that hardly make it a combined edition, since they're not integrated with the plot at all.
There's also the option to play as those navis outside liberation missions, but that's not entirely relevant to the conversation.

I'm really surprised they jumped the Gun and included a Zero so early in the series, with Colonel and Iris showing up later too.

I guess no chance at seeing an X.exe, Sigma.exe or Axl.exe though ;-;

I completely dropped the anime once a friend told me that Megaman being Lan's brother wasn't a major plot point.

Godspeed you lads. Get that port working soon.

Axess and Stream are the high points for it. Everything else is pretty trash.

That sounds excellent user

Yeah that's not part of the anime. MegaMan is just a customized NormalNavi. And Lan is initially disappointed when the customization program completes and Megaman is MegaManlet.
There are a couple different points in the show where you see other NormalNavis and they're almost clones of Megaman. It's creepy.
