The towers of time are just a shitty version of the challenge tower too. The challenge tower had fun challenges with unique gimmicks and mini games. The towers of time makes you play arcade with the same shitty bs gimmich that gets worse with each tier and no mini games. You also have to do a bunch of tedious shit in order to unlock the next tower and you need to do it in the same game mode, meaning if you have to perform 75 fatalities with a certain character, you have to do it in ToT and can't just play what you want whilst performing fatalities.

Discarding what some fanboys might call cherrypicked gameplay, MKX actually does feel a bit faster and more responsive. At first I thought I was shit at MK11 and out of practice since I was just coming back. I was missing a lot of inputs and my fatality game was inconsistent as fuck.

Out of curiousity I popped in MKX again and was still able to flawlessly pull off all the combos and specials I had been able to before. There's something going on with MK11 specifically.

It might not be due to the technology being off, it could have been intentional. While I don't think the RE engine is perfect, the same thing happened with DMC5 where they said they intentionally edited the faces a bit to look more like the character and distinct and not just a copy of the model. No, it's my genuine opinion as someone who played MK9, Injustice 1/2, and MKX competitively.

NRS games have always been weird and fucked up in terms of fundamental design but they've had fun bullshit loaded into each character that counteracts that and makes the game fun if not entirely serious. I love me some Grundy in Injustice, Reverse Flash in 2, Liu Kang and Kung Lao in 9/X (especially FB run cancels in X for Liu Kang what a fucking beast) but MK11 stripped away all the best parts of NRS games and left the worst shit.

NRS tried to make SF5 despite everyone agreeing USF4 is a thousand times better and wound up making a pile of shit with a decent story mode and a fuckton of grind

Who fucking cares if it appeals to casual gamers? If it sells, it sells. Isn't that the point? As for the competitive scene, every single game has it's own circles and groups. There's a reason the Melee players are shunned by everyone in the FGC, even by other Smash games players. Just cause some FGC people throw shade at each other doesn't mean their respective communities don't enjoy it. NetherRealms has always had the smallest group of competitive players in the FGC anyway, so if it appeals to that demographic as well as casuals, and it sells, then it's a success. We'll have to wait and see if they release any numbers, but I doubt it will do badly.
