old Japanese kids show was ridiculously gory, including manga. (did you know nagai go's devilman was serialized in "shounen" magazine)
even in 90s, dragon ball z, hokuto no ken was also super gory even though it was aimed to kids. now you cant show blood and mutilating in kids show anymore. at the time Japanese had guts that let kids judge whether contents was wrong or not by themselves, but now, they are becoming like western.
