Is it worth it's current price?

The game doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be. You've got these big maps where people can have large battles, but a combat system that turns any engagement of more than 3 people into a friendly-fire meat grinder. Maps are simple and have very little variety. There's no tight castle interiors or winding villages like in M&B and Chivalry. They're just flat fields with the occasional building or fort. They could have tried to implement some actual castle siege mechanics or something, but instead we get a few wooden doors and boring old 'gun turrets, but medieval!'.

I just don't know what they're aiming for here. If I wanted big battles, I'd rather play M&B. If I wanted 1v1 dueling, I'd rather play For Honor.

Oh, and the sound and visuals are very meh, certainly not better than Chivalry, which is a 7 year old game.

Toolbox starts with 3/6 ammo. Using a chest to refill gives 3 ammo.
You toggle buildings with R button.
You can build 3 buildings.
3 ammo = Archer wall with hole
3 ammo = Spikes wall, if enemies run into it they die. Put around corners
6 ammo = Crossbow Turret
If you want to build a Crossbow Turret you need to spawn in, touch a chest and then you can build one.
That's literally it.

The only other thing engineer can build is a ballista, but you need 6/6 ammo and you only spawn with 3/6. Find an ammo box

An overhead from a maul should instantly drain all stamina and dislodge a shield from a shieldnigger if he blocks it, two overheads from other two-handers. If they want to stop this from happening, they have to chamber overheads. Stamina drain on block should generally be made more severe, too.

This is the only way to make shields tolerable.

So far I like using the spear the most (to be fair with other weapons I have problems; seems like I could get used it like in chivalry, though). How fast does it get too repetitive? I tried to customize but everything is locked. How hard is it to unlock stuff like spear and plate?

You get like +25ms active time on your attacks. That means if you drag, you can have your weapon hit them slightly later but the attack in general also takes a bit longer. Overall 25ms isn't much of a difference so just do whichever you think looks cooler.

Unironically playing a bownigger is LITERALLY the scummiest and most pathetic way to play these types of games, there is nothing worse than having your amazing duel cut short by some "HEHE NOTHIN PERSONNEL KID" bownigger who can't play a regular class to get kills so he has to sit at the back of the map with a bow, holding M1, release, holding M1, release, holding M1, release, like can you IMAGINE the kind of person who purchases and downloads a first person medieval combat game and decides to play as a bownigger? What's the thought process? How is it fun to stand in one place the entire match just holding and releasing M1? and ruining the game for everyone else while they're at it? Bowniggers were always one of the most hated parts of Chivalry and they're back in full force in Mordhau, the devs learned nothing about the hatred people harbor for bowniggers and the people who play bowniggers learned nothing about playing a proper fucking class. They are the absolute worst part of the game, nobody enjoys playing against them, nobody says "OH WOW I GOT OUTSKILLED SO HARD WHEN THAT BOWNIGGER SHOT ME IN THE BACK", and no decent fucking person enjoys playing a bownigger. They're always low level shitters because they can't learn how to play the game properly. It's a fucking wheelchair class so shitters can get kills and pretend they're good at the game with their artificially inflated KD/R. It's always bittersweet when you finally track down the bownigger who's sniped you across the map 5 times in a row only to discover he can't parry even 1 of your melee attacks because he's a complete shitter. All unlockable armor is cosmetic, you get a free piece of each armor class.

Default loadouts have decent variety, there's one with spear iirc.

The idea is you should be pairing it with a Mallet/Blacksmith Hammer anyways, which also puts you in charge of repairing the static battlefield fortifications. A single engie can turn certain capture points into fucking nightmares for attacking teams.

Not true, you just have to vary the timing of your morph to catch your opponent off-guard. You can morph instantly as you begin an attack (not recommended since it is almost the same as using the attack you are morphing into regularly) or you could wait a bit and do it in the middle of the windup or really push your opponent's buttons and morph at the very last moment of the windup animation. The latter seems to work with 90+% efficiency in my experience.

If your enemy has a slow weapon, and you have a faster weapon, chambering is more likely to hit. Perhaps even a bastard sword vs halberd, they might not recover quickly enough. I can't say for certain since I only bother to chamber when I am using my rapier

They're a bit strong right now, its pretty easy to just spam thrust attacks until everything is dead.

Thrust-focused weapons seem a bit strong in general right now, really.

The stab on the rapier is the fastest attack in the game (barring stabs from daggers and knives), has decent range and has next to no recovery frames, allowing you to begin another stab before your opponent can wind up a counterattack.

This is true, you basically have to riposte it or have the dodge perk and sidestep their non stop thrusts, and even then the timing window is pretty small for you to counter attack back into them. Halfswording helps a lot though

any weapon can chamber rapier back, chambering is a good way to learn to passively punish feints (internalize the idea of matching their attack to bring it against them even if they don't launch it) and can take people by surprise if they don't expect you to do it quickly. at high levels, chambering is a reflex

yes, but you generally shouldn't try. chambers are best against stabs because those are both the hardest feints to read and easiest attacks to chamber. chambering a horizontal swing has no real benefit as opposed to just parrying. keep in mind that a really good player can read through your chamber attempt and actually drag their stab to delay it, fucking up your chamber attempt (i think they should remove this mechanic, to be honest)

Billhook excels at dehorsing and has the second best stabs. Bardiche has the best LMB/horizontal but sucks at stabs and is slow. Poleaxe is good all around but doesn't really stand out. Halberd is a faster, lightly weaker bardiche with a decent stab.

Theres a momentum thing, where it takes a moment for you to reach "full sprint", the speed ONLY affects the speed of this full sprint. If they are already running before you start chasing them, you arent catching them, if they were stationary and try to run they are running at the same speed as you.

Everyone uses 1stperson, 3rdperson makes swinging and parrying accurately a pain and its only use is for seeing your toon or for checking behind you with a button press rather than a mouse flick (actually not useful that often because of how fights are structured)

That castle is amazing for defending as Blue and your objective fucking fights for you. You get cavalry to harass the reds trying to push. Red has to come through chokepoints or ladders or up staircases with their heads ready for chopping. Blue has the height advantage for projectile weapons and stabs and dropping down into ongoing fights pretty much all round.
