I hope you guys aren't waiting until September to pick up a Valve Index.

god, I wish that was me

Pre-ordered a Quest desu, I'm sick of tripping on the wires on my vive and I want a headset that I can instantly put on and play without a lengthy startup.
It even has sensors to tell whether you have the headset on or not, so it automatically goes out of standby instantly. I really think VR needs less friction to be popular, the index is cool though.

Same, sold some shit to gs and pre ordered online from them.

Ordered the full kit, and hoping for wireless attachment. Atm, I have a pretty good cable management set up that keeps the cable high above my head and mosty out the way. But we are moving to a bigger apartment next month with a massive spare room, and so we are planning on making this a full wireless vr space.

>none of the new PCVR options come with a wireless addon
life is pain

I just did the rift s. I'd do the Reverb if the controllers weren't so shitty. $1000 is way too much for me to swallow on an entertainment product and the rift s seems to have the best tracking for the price.

quest really lacks a military shooter like pavlov, onward or contractors. Otherwise it seems decent so far.

Based and mobileshitpilled

I really want a shooter on it, but yeah, otherwise the lineup is very impressive.

I thought Pavlov was already confirmed at some point

I guess there is rec room and dead and buried 2, which both have cross-play with all other platforms.

Especially rec room has some really fun multiplayer modes if you mute the PSVR squeakers

Rec Room runs like shit on my Base PS4, so I never bothered with it.
Hopefully it's better optimised for Quest.

dave (pavlov dev) says that he pre-ordered the Quest and wants to see first hand how the tracking works, but is considering a port. If it's coming there won't be costum maps though

Onward developers have been dead silent about a port even though the lead dev kept mentioning the quest on twitch streams and interviews, which might indicate that he is under some NDA

Would Quest be able to manage all the physics?
I imagine they would need to change the death animations from ragdolls to canned.

The Onward dev team has grown to 17 people and the are working on a full graphical revamp. Such a large team only makes sense if they have a contract to bring it to another platform.

The average playercount for Onward is 60~ish, if they aren‘t working on a Quest or PSVR port they are commiting financial suicide with this many employees.

>dead and buried 2
I hope it has more than just pistol gripped guns.
Give me some rifles dammit!

not really caring for the headset but I'm going to get the controllers for my vive

>VR headset:ON
>virtual love handles:ON
>parents out of town:YES
Yep. It's time to beat the living shit out of women.

Have we heard any news about how well they track with lighthouse 1.0?

I got a PSVR on super cheap sale from some angry mom on craigslist and I'm loving it, debated between getting a PC headset for a long time but seeing a full psvr kit for $150 was way too good a deal to pass up, frankly most of the games are on psvr too, and there's tons of apps to get the psvr working on pc nowadays for porn. I just don't see why I'd ever drop so god damned much money on a "proper" headset before more games come out. And believe me, I'm more than willing to buy, it's just a matter of having games...

Are there any actual decent VR games yet or is it still just shit like LMAO JOB SIMULATOR?!

I dunno, it just says it works with the vive and vive pro on the steamstore page, also when I asked Gaben a few weeks back if it's possible to use the knuckle/valve index controllers with my OG Vive he just replied "Yes".

So what would be the better experience? Quest or Vive? I don't really give a shit about wires and in fact, prefer them so I don't have to worry about recharging batteries

I really want the PSVR 2 to be a Quest-like headset with the ability to tether to the PS5.

I also want Nintendo to make a Quest-like headset.

Fuck facebook.

Almost certainly no differently. The only real difference is that the Lighthouse 1 sucks up more power and is meant to be more expensive due to being more mechanically complex.
Valve is jewing us.

>I don't really give a shit about wires
If this is true, than Vive.
Keep in mind it's not like wired controllers or anything. Its a cable attached to your head while you move about and turn. It gets in the way pretty quick, for me it's a huge fucking buzzkill.

I've tried a few VR demos, so I kind of understand how the wire is positioned and kind of just unconsciously shrug it off or move it when I feel it in the way. Personally, I'm fine with putting up with this if it means not having to worry about the battery in the headset running low

Honestly? Rift S. Vive controllers last only 8 hours while the Rift controllers take AA batteries. Also higher res and an LCD screen for less screendoor effect

HTC is a terrible company and it is a matter of time until they abandon the consumer market completely.
The Vive wands are straight garbage, I had to repair both of them myself.

What about tracking? Doesn't the Vive have better tracking than the Rift?

It does, but its still more expensive, requires external sensors and again, the vive wands are pure shit, I hate them. Vive + steam controllers might be a good alternative, but so far every tester/youtuber says the Rift S tracking is good. Unlike WMR there are 5 instead of just 2 front facing cameras, the only real deadspots are on your back or right under the headset.

Even then the acceleration sensors can track for two seconds without camera view, so grabbing something from your back like a weapon or drawing an arrow isnt an issue.

>steam controllers
These are the knuckles, right? With that finger tracking?

Not that guy, but that’s probably what he was talking about.

I imagine Valve will produce a wireless kit soon for the Index. The tech is in place and the Arcade market, plus industry, would adopt. Money is no problem for me, my partner is a vr developer, all of our kit is a tax write off.

yoof

1. She writes VR articles or works for a VR dev or fuckin something
2. She's just having a bit of fun, are you terrified of girls or something?

>are you terrified of girls or something?
with how much power they have over everything these days, of course

this is you on VR

show me games first.

>those tiny little shit speakers
If I’m buying a $1000 VR set when there are literally no games for it, I definitely have at the very least a $350 pair of headphones that I can use with literally any digital media device, what the fuck were they thinking?

why does the dumb roasty gave to include herslf in the picture?

The battery life on the quest is supposed to be pretty shit from the reviews I've seen.

>no games for it

Cant it play the same games the vive can? Also will revive work for the index?

I wouldn't have to if I wasn't fucking stuck at work for 7 hours.

>tabletop sim
Is this a joke?

It's 2 hours

wagie getting ragie lmao

>Cant it play the same games the vive can?
Yes
>Also will revive work for the index?
Probably, since it still runs SteamVR and an update for Revive a couple months ago added a Knuckles mapping.

It's 2+ hours (More when using non-game apps) and can be played while plugged in.
Not ideal, but most people aren't gonna use it 2 hours straight.

Also it has good standby power usage (only 1% every 2 hours)

2-3 hours is fine for a VR session and you can play with a powerbank in your pocket, no big deal

I've already got a Rift, and I don't really give a shit about the headset, but I am kind of jealous of those controllers.

Rift S looks comfy to wear, almost like the PSVR.

now they just need to have something that isnt an uggo

Those controllers aren't going to be any help without software specifically for it.
Yea there is a list of some more or less minor changed games but valve is only releasing one game specifically for the Index in 2019, way too expensive.

If you like racing games, space sims or flight sims then there's plenty of those.

>Those controllers aren't going to be any help without software specifically for it
The whole point of SteamVR Input 2.0 is that you won't need to have software specifically for it

Well, compared with vive controllers they help by not feeling like you're waving budget dildos around, but I doubt they'll provide much benefit over any other VR controllers without games specifically designed for them.

You would still need to have the more useful features programed into games. For example, sliding your hand over something without letting go in Boneworks using the pressure sensor. You won't be able to do that on another game that just has the grip function using a true/false value. However, even regular gripping should still be more intuitive with the Index controller and an analog stick will be really nice. I'm planning to get them at some point.

Game?

even still, we know that a lot of games have already been confirmed to be updated with Index Controller support (like Arizona Sunshine, GORN, Sairento, Climbey, H3VR, Onward/Pavlov, etc)

both are great hardware

retard

>THIS IS WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE ME
>HE NEVER GIVES ME ATTENTION
>UGH I HATE MY LIFE

>72hz
>single panel
>great hardware

Quest has two OLED displays with IPD adjustment retard

I'm not waiting for a gimmick at all

nvm, quest does have 2 displays.
which begs the question of why they didn't keep 2 with Rift S instead of switching it to 1.
