When did you decide you didn't like Pokemon anymore?

When did you decide you didn't like Pokemon anymore?

Attached: electromouse.png (271x231, 5K)

I grew past 4th grade

when i stoped being a kid and found better alternatives to play

After Ruby/Sapphire Gen
Mainly because the SD was the last handheld device I had.

USUM

when they turned to shit (immediately after B/W2)

i wonder why i ever liked it in the first place.
it was basicly never more than spamm 1 attack to win, catch pokemon you never use, grind, no story.

they got rid of Butterfree, that was an unforgivable slight

I played Gen 2 and Gen 4 back-to-back a decade ago. That was my first taste of Pokemon. It was okay, but definitely not the kind of game that hooked me

I wouldn't say I stopped liking it
I just stopped caring about it

Not quite there yet but I started with a lot of the bullshit around gen 7

After playing gen 4.
I don't see myself going back to it any time soon. The games are just so boring.
I now like the series for other reasons.

Attached: 1556949713.jpg (800x993, 367K)

After X and Y being the disappointments that they were.

After Gen 2

When they kept making them even easier and easier up to X and Y. If the games kept the level of difficulty of around red/blue (no I'm not genwunning) then I would have been glad to keep up with them but as it is they had to make an already simple series even simpler.

Diamond was when I started to suspect. Heart Gold was when I knew.

When the 2nd generation came out

I still like jerking off to the cute girls in it.

>When did you decide you didn't like Pokemon anymore?

I kind of stopped giving a shit about the games during Gen V/ Black and White. I tapped out because I realize the game was just never going to get any better, nor was it ever going to 'mature' or fully realize it's potential. It's always just going to be what it is and I've had enough of it.

I was, though, thoroughly hypocritically impressed and immersed with the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes. They were fantastic and I don't regret getting a copy for a moment. The remakes have been consistently good and I'd recommend them to anyone who HASN'T been keeping up with the series. Gamefreak always fucks it up the first time, but they sure as hell know how to make good remakes.

I do, though, really love the Pokemon world and setting- nothing has changed there and I'm still passionate about it as ever. The Pokemon setting itself is really fucking interesting and I know WAY too fucking much Pokemon lore. I'm obsessed, but I'm enjoying it.

Attached: Anime_Just_Right.png (217x190, 55K)

When I turned 12 years old

I haven't stopped liking the series, but I stopped getting excited about new games after Sun/Moon. USUM just looked lame as fuck.

Finished Sun and Moon.
Had no incentive to buy Ultra Sun and Moon.
Also, Gen 6 was absolute garbage

I actually liked X and Y, but ORAS was awful.

after hating pearl in highschool then falling for the hype and playing the dogshit that is Sun

>I was, though, thoroughly hypocritically impressed and immersed with the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes. They were fantastic and I don't regret getting a copy for a moment.
Do you have the autism?

when it got popular

once i got 13 years old.

Never

When I realized the entire series main gameplay is lackluster as fuck and after only playing 2 games realized what a true slog standard grinding is after playing rpgs with active combat mechanics
I think this series is an improved dilemma of the sonic situation where the designs and music and merchandise are what draw tons of people in on every release
I also hate that faggot like yourself have an entire board to discuss this shit and venture out after a short amount of time you realize this specific series is quite fucking dull when surrounded by others as interested in it as you are and constantly debating shit to the point where the same shit just gets discussed constantly
I know this happens on Yea Forums often but there's at least a variety of shitposts and at least 2 competent threads every now and then
Fuck off back to your abyss furfag

Mostly stopped after HG/SS and realized I wasn't enjoying it as much, but what really killed it was when my roommates started playing competitively.

I never stopped liking Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Always throws me back.

I never liked it

>pmd
Dead series

Stopped liking pokemon as a game after gold and silver, the GBA games just felt like too much rehashing

I like pokemon as designs still though.

After playing Let’s Go and then Persona 5 I realised the series is going nowhere and cannot compete with modern games on consoles.

When I played gold edition and all the new pokemon sucked.

I still like it. Playing White now.
Gen 5 is still sorta ehhh tho.
Just very of the new mons are that good, and you have no options of old ones (until BW2).

I don't care, what I got was great and the last one had an excellent sense of finality.

I didn't

Attached: thumbsup.png (444x448, 190K)

I always liked it, just I got self conscious when I got to around 4th grade and kept that I played the games to myself or to my other gaming friends.

This stayed this way for the most part through high school, though I did meet more people that played during high school and were "cool". And then by the time I got to Uni, everyone either played unabashedly or just didn't give a shit if you did.

ORAS was pretty gud
You just never played gen 3 before because your an underaged shitter

after silver. Realized it was just jap mind control. There isn't much to the game, even now.

I already had my doubts after Gen 6 and 7
However I definitely came to that conclusion when I saw the new starters and came to the realization that I don't like any of them also the fact that Ohmori is allowed to direct SwSh despite how SuMo turned out

Attached: DNhCTY2U8AE7Y6J.jpg (906x1200, 59K)

after I smoked a bunch of weed lmoa

When they stopped making Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games

John Chunsoft where the fuck is my PMD game on the Switch.

Probably around Diamond and Pearl when I realised the games were basically just the same stuff over and over again whilst also becoming simpler.
I still played them up to SM but I couldn't finish that game as the sheer amount of handholding in it was absurd.

Please put a fucking sticky directing nu/v/ to the containment board. Fucking please.

After gold and silver. Knowing they removed features like real time clock/days of the week system and that not all pokemon would be present between the two versions really killed it for me.

>mad that video games are on a video game board.

Too many pokemons after awhile

When I played Dragon Quest Monsters

i recognized it to be a soulless cashgrab with gen 2, right after stadium/snap/pinball everywhere

I haven't.

IT IS A CONTAINMENT BOARD
POKEMON OVERRAN Yea Forums AND Yea Forums DECIDED TO GIVE IT ITS OWN BOARD SO IT WONT OVERRUN Yea Forums ANY MORE
YOU WILL BE POSTING ON A BOARD WITH LIKE MINDED PEOPLE
WHAT A FUCKING CRAZY, INSANE CONCEPT
HOLY FUCKING HELL, DUMBEST GENERATION KIDS.

>mad that video games are on a video game board

X/Y were already a fucking disappointment, but I kept playing. Then S/M dropped and the level of shit it reached was enough to turn me hostile towards the franchise. Not even uninterested. It was just so fucking bad I started hating the series.

I'm young so I didn't know about gen 1 when it was out, I only saw the pokemon anime on TV. Playing Fire Red on the emulator was exciting because I got to see all those cool monsters I saw on the television but after trying to play emerald it kind of got repetitive. I might emulate some other games because they're supposed to look much better but for now I'm kind of done.

>play RGB, cultural phenomenon, changes my life, etc
>play SG, it's somehow even better
>don't touch a new one for awhile for some reason
>buy DP after it's been out for a good bit because I find myself kind of missing it
>it's the same fucking game
>the new monsters are all 5/10
>it's slow as fuck
>never bothered with a new one

Attached: 1467528836166.png (600x600, 199K)

Been playing since Yellow, sun and moon were the final nail in the coffin for me. If they just made the games like how gen 5 was done I would probably still be playing

Played Sapphire then stopped.
Also Colosseum.

I was young then like 7-10. Not sure, I mean I didn't have money as a kid so I didn't exactly decide what I got.

I remember when GO came out, it was a whole thing that I refused to participate in.

I started with diamond and fire red at the same time
I thought black was shit
I went back to play diamond and suddenly it was slow
I play fire red and its too fucking easy

there are better rpg's out there, plain and simple.

About halfway through Gold/silver I guess.

Diamond/pearl. Most of the charm of the original series had left, like the asshole rivals. The character designs got worse. Everything got a bit feminised.

Sun and Moon when they removed the PSS.
Trading and playing online is so clunky especially after XY and ORAS had made it so easy

after Johto

I was on Victory Road on Pokemon White and I realized I wasn't having fun. I sold my 3DS and the game two days later.

at this point anyone with half a brain could see that the future games would just be the same again and again.

I never did.
What's so fun about a grindable and repetitive rpg?

When I realized the games will never really be anything more than the same thing over and over with minor changes and new art for the pokemens

I still like it. Gen 7 was okay.

Attached: chicken!!.png (973x445, 537K)

Pokemon became too complicated for my tiny pea brain with Gen 4 and the advent of online. I was tempted to get back on the gravy train with 5 but then 6 happened and the series shit the bed.

at this point anyone with half a brain could see that the future replies would just be the same again and again.

I stopped after playing gen 5 & realizing it was shit

At some point I realized JRPGs aren't even really games, just boring, pointless A button mashers.

BASED

At XY. Felt like Gamefreak was spitting on me with all this genwunning, unfinished content and ugly models

Attached: 1416756935587.jpg (395x220, 13K)

Too vague linguistically, since people use "didn't like" to mean dislike. I have never disliked pokemon, it just stopped providing the things I liked. There's a lot of stuff in modern pokemon that I dislike admittedly but it's all just a neutral, boring slur. Boredom is a form of loathing, so I guess I slightly loathe pokemon. But only because it CAN be pretty engaging.

Attached: 1548062496532.jpg (300x297, 16K)

this I just masturbate to the porn

I bet you masturbate to yourself, pretty boy. Bet you’re so pretty the curvaceous layers of your stomach make it real hard to go to town on that uncircumcised penis of yours but all the more satisfying because jacking it is all the exercise you can muster.

Let's go and then just confirming with swordshield

>The Battle Frontier is under construction!

>nor was it ever going to 'mature' or fully realize it's potential.
I'm only seeing this now. The Sword and Shield map has me really disappointed.

I never liked pokemon in the first place. shit's gay and retarded.

How the fuck is someone going to ask "Why do you dislike pokemon" in a pokemon board?

>decide you didn't like
I'm not a shallow woman who reshape itself according to facebook social pressure lol.

When Ninty introduced ice cream pokemon, sandcastle pokemon, and garbage pokemon, I knew it was time to let go.

Quietly profound post. "Decide that you like" is a legitimately satanic mode of wording or rationale, quiet yet poisonous in its shallow, debased way of promoting or condemning for pathetic reasons.

when pikachu stopped being chubby

Attached: roundchu.png (493x441, 255K)

Would 'accept' have been better wording?

t. OP

PS: I'm surprised this thread is still up

look at how round this rat is oml
The sheer size of those thighs, that midriff, zero fucking neck. This pikachu is a top.

I'm still willing to give new games a shot but it's really me chasing the dragon and hoping we'll get another B/W where you can tell the devs were more interested in the passion and concepts going into it rather than chasing either kids or oldfags who've already moved on. S/M had shades of this but the map design failed it.

Attached: Pokemon-Black-and-White.jpg (1200x986, 316K)

When I realized they were never going to make the open world mom that I've always wanted. Around 2008.

I quit half way through Silver

mmo*

fuck

Eh, I don't think it's a case of better wording or not. I mean, in my previous post I highlighted the bugbear of the term " didn't like" and how it's too synonymous with dislike, which strikes me as more of an "issue". But it serves as illustrative examples. At the end of the day discerning anons can work around an obtuse OP to get to the grist of a topic, just as has happened here.

"Accept" for its merits implies a period of denial, which certainly isn't accurate in my own case and I cannot speak for others. It was obvious from Gen 4 onwards that the spark wasn't being rekindled in Pokemon titles and more bad was entering in. The process of decreasing interest in the series for me was steady and conscious.

Lol this, "Anthrochu" is the harbinger of all the godawful furrymons we have today. I no longer look forward to seeing starter trios, it's all tiny balloon animal babies and grotesquely huge manthro chaps.

except the sand castle was 5 years after those other two, you absolute retard

>a game is good because of nostalgia
If you appreciate a game just because of nostalgia then it wasn’t really good

>once I got 13 year olds.
Fixed.

Never. I can’t wait to play Sword and Shield

I turned 35, grow up.

FPBP

I hope there is an option for spawn encounters like in Let’s go. I loved the feature.

When I realized there was no merit to keeping a pokemon at a certain evolution. In game when I look at a pokemon all I see is its final evolved state because that's the only one that matter.

tl;dr I love Ivysaur and I hate Venusaur

As soon as I completed Alpha Sapphire. I was already beginning to detest the franchise after the honeymoon phase for X and Y ended a year later and I realized what a shitshow it was when I went back and played Black 2 in comparison. But I guess I was too thirsty for the new Megas. I've disavowed Pokemon since then. ORAS completely decimated what little goodwill I had left. No Battle Frontier, Zinnia, dumbed down difficulty, bastardizing the graphics and music, everything about it was just too much for me. All I did with Gen 7 was look at the demo leaks and laugh at how shit the dex became. I will ignore Gen 8 just like how I did with 7, and most likely with all future gens to come.

I really feel personally that Game Freak went all out with Gen 5, a last gasp of passion and ingenuity that was sadly rejected by the normalfag genwunner masses. After seeing their magnum opus get shat on like that unfairly they must have grown disillusioned and stopped trying anymore, that coupled with their inexperience with 3D and the rocky transition it entailed. It just doesn't make sense how they went from making the best game in the franchise 1 year to making the worst fucking garbage ever produced the following year right after.

Gen 3 was the last game I finished. It was only ok compared to GSC for me. My problem was that they never built upon all the new features ideas, or outright cut them. The addition of the time system with events, day/night cycle, the Pokegear, animated sprites, and traveling back to Kanto (yes I know it's small and barren, but the idea was still fantastic). None of this improved despite the fact it should have easily carried to new hardware.

I did also try Gen 4 & 5. 4 I never finished because my levels were too low at the end of the game and grinding was getting me nowhere. Gen 5 I just stopped playing at some point.

Sword and Shield was a wish of mine for a long time in terms of a real console Pokemon game. Watching the trailer though it's too little too late. It's effectively a port of a non existent 3DS version. Nothing about it shows any form of innovation/effort being on a stronger piece of hardware for once.

When Yo-Kai Watch made a better game

Sun and moon, just lost interest
I might needa emulate red/blue/yellow again one day

Around ORAS

i never liked pokemon to begin with. Digimon is the patrician choice. get fucked faggots.

nah m8 the patrician choice was Monster Rancher 2

When I played USUM and it was literally exactly without any changes the same fucking game as SM were.

When they made sequels for Gen 5.

When the gen4+ soulless designs came out

Whatever were the second games.. silver/gold shit i think. got bored of the series after that.

This is pretty much the only reason to keep playing them at this point. The pokemon designs have been dogshit for a while.

Alright I think we've got enough people squarely and reasonably disenfranchised with the state of Pokemon in this thread with plenty of straightup evidence about it. The next step is to discuss how it could be averted and what could improve Pokemon. Let's see what creative people would do with a future pokemon gen instead of what we've been getting.

>Different type trio starters
>Breaking old limits on type assignment
>Outright new types, or just sod it and alter, fuse/break down existing ones
>New mechanics in battle
>alter levelling
Let's hear some suggestions

Attached: 1530913639818.png (225x280, 20K)

when I played ruby and hated it by the end

There are only 151 pokemon.

When you had to make them carry a stupid stone so they can do a DBZ transformation

I never liked it

It keeps most of the furries in and the board traffic is slow as hell. I ain't going there you doublenigger

Stopped at gen 3, loved emerald but found gen 4 boring and lost interest in what I saw coming after. Pokemon is that kind of series I only remember if someone talks about it nowadays.

Gen 3, that's when I realized we wouldn't get a constantly expanding explorable world.

during the end of 2017 or some shit
i still like some of the creatures themselves though

Gamefreak can't stop me from liking Pokemon no matter how bad they make the new games. Nothing keeping me from playing the old games that I do enjoy, liking the card art, getting merch of my favorite pokemon, looking at the nice fanart, and watching the Kanto and Johto episodes of the anime. If I haven't stopped liking the series by now, I don't think I ever will.

When I turned 10

>XY
>shit
>USUM
>shit
>LGPE
>shit

>when i stoped being a kid and found better alternatives to play
The irony

The 3rd gen remakes were great to me as well. Not sure I understand the hate for them. They were much more enjoyable for me than USUM.

How is fifth grade going, champ?

After Gen 2 then when I was older I picked up Gen 3 which was fantastic then Gen 4 later which was meh and now I only replay Gen 1-3 occasionally in spurts.

Since the second season of the anime, in 2001 or so.

After XY and ORAS were both shit.

when playing gen 5

Sun and moon. I thought X and Y were just a fluke since they just switched to 3D

Just because I don't play it doesn't mean I don't like it. I've passed my enjoyment on to my children while I go and play other games I wouldn't have enjoyed years ago. It's always nice revisiting pokemon when my kids need some help with type matchup or something

SM really felt like a kick in the balls. Agressively bad new pokemon, characters, and locations. It looked nothing like a pokemon game, while also adding nothing mechanically interesting to justify its existence. Then USUM was the extra little slap in the face on the way out.

Let's be honest. If you were in the Pokemon world, you would have sex with them.

Attached: 1532945038752.jpg (2540x3660, 2.87M)

>characters
>"they're bad characters because they don't stand in their gym and do nothing else"

Hau was an annoying faggot the entire game. His entire character arc was that he wouldn't stop being a faggot.

When I realized there was no actual challenge and the only strategy is to use your strongest move that has a type advantage against your opponent because the enemy AI is too stupid to have more interesting tactics.

After gen 2. Was never a huge fan even then, it was just the fad when i was a kid.

The problem isn't that gamefreak are lazy, they are incompetent. They programmed a character 6 times, once for every island she was in becuase they areabsolute shit ate developing games, Nintendo can't force gamefreak to be competent

SnS reveal
i thought all the problems with SM were 3DS problems but it appears not to be the case
whatever all i care about at this point is the porn

Consoles and games got prohibitively expensive.

>Consoles and games got prohibitively expensive.
a 2ds is $79 and a decent SD card for it is $10

I should clarify that I live in Russia.

i absolutely would

5th gen had quite a few issues, and I promptly dropped the series after that.

XY were abyssmal and the series never recovered. That dogshit getting a decent metacritic unlike explorers of sky made me realize metacritic shitposting can and should 100% be avoided

You can emulate 3ds with Citra.

>playing monster raising games for the challenge
thats like watching porn for the soundtrack

When I started playing SMT

this is fine, whats not fine is that all the gyms let you do this because theyre themed on types still

The moment I saw this was the beginning of the end.

USUM was the end.

Attached: ocqoksWXWd1sk3o83o1.png (640x451, 466K)

>2 hours later and no suggestions at all
Well, I think we've found the problem.

gen 6

when gen 5 ruined the series

I wouldn't. I only want to be buds with them.

I still like pokemon, I just lost motivation to get tons involved in it after some shit 10 year old stepkid my dad brought over to my house stole my game with all my mons on it and then deleted the save without even getting any off of it.
that copy of black2 had literally every pokemon I had ever caught/trained on it since Gen 3, for years pokemon had been literally the only game I played up until mid/late highschool when this happened
like the little shit literally deleted my entire childhood

Somewhere around 2016. I got a good way through Pokemon Y before realizing how many hours I would need to invest to be involved in the competitive scene, so I dropped it. The turning point came around Pokemon Sun where I was so disgusted by the constant hand-holding that I consciously turned the game off and chucked it into the trash bin before ever getting to the first gym. What the fuck has become of the franchise I fell in loved with as a nine year old?

The 3DS generation killed Pokémon. Now I only play roms, but I can’t even finish them. It’s not the same. Feels bad, man.

Give us some better alternatives to the same genre? Not being a dick or baiting, I just really want to find more games like Pokemanz.

shit taste my dude

Attached: 1556824182620.jpg (480x480, 21K)

So we're all in agreement that Pokemon is a franchise massively held back by its dev, right>

Attached: 1553214645766.gif (480x320, 1.74M)

Dropped after gen 4. It had no soul. Fired up the action replay back in the day and had a blast doing stupid shit in diamond. Gen 3 atleast had some soul. Got back in just now after getting 3ds with gen 5 and this gen lacks soul also. N has no soul and that guy and ghetsis have some issues I couldn't take serious. Considering getting into the competitive scene but the IV bullshit is turning me off to it. Gamefreak just cant pull off that comfyness emerald was with the battle frontier.

Attached: siiip.jpg (470x529, 39K)

around gen 3. But defintly gen 5.

When the pedophile waifu fagging began.

>overworld sprites
>seamless battle transitions
>environments that are designed to be "explored" rather than "walked through"
>themes and environment determine the pokemon distribution more than pandering

I don't really think pokemon has to do anything revolutionary to be good again. It's just a matter of care factor. Like another user said: BW was great, SM had some whispers of aspiration, and the rest have felt phoned in.

so since gen 1

This post got ruined by a wojak

I really want to still like it, but ORAS, Sun/Moon and Lets Go have shaken my faith really hard. I think Sword/Shield are essentially the last chance for me.

never liked that gay shit lmao

A hard difficulty setting would fix 70% of my problems with the games and probably take very little devolopment time or effort, but it wont happen because GF fucking sucks and wants to milk 1998 nostalgia without acknowledging that anyone over the age of 6 is playing the game.

Gen 3, I liked some of the ideas but they also started pulling some serious bullshit and just cut the brakes since.
But community wise it was precisely when pre-/vp/ crowd outright refused to self-moderate whenever one of their worst started spamming furry porn or when all of them spammed threads the instant a new release was announced.

That's when and why ya'll had to go.

After Gen 2. As a kid something about Pokémon just seemed unappealing with Gen 3. This wasn't me trying to be "I'M TOTALLY MATURE" or anything like some kids try to be around this age, Pokémon specifically just lost something for me.

but you come to a gay board
goteem

pokemon

Gotta catch em all

the switch from sprites to 3D models

Attached: 74353538_p0_master1200.jpg (1200x1200, 533K)

Gen 2 monsters looked stupid and I didn't want to relearn a bunch of names.

I’m not a child anymore so I can’t stand waiting long droughts between gens and staying interested in their shitty spinoffs and third versions

Sauce?
