Pokemon definitely progress from "somewhat modern" to "near future", seeing how the technology literally progress from games to games
gen 1 and 2 is just normal 90s urban setting, with a slightly elevated technology (the center and the PC), 3 and 4 progress a bit with some random high-tech, and 5 to 7 just reach scifi territory
