Risk of Rain 2
Stardew Valley desu. Only for one playthrough, but I spent 150% of my freetime on it for a months straight
Sekiro
RoR2
RE2make
its been a pretty good year
DQ XI
EDF 5.
RDR2, before that Witcher 3, before that Bloodborne
N' Sane trilogy and Tropical Freeze. I fucking love platformers. This game is next on my hit list.
RE2 Remake
Sekiro
Deep Rock Galactic
I dont think I've been hooked by a game in this entire decade.
Rainbow Six: Siege.
Rdr2 and a link between worlds
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Reminded me of VtM:B more than Deus Ex 1 though.
division 2
Apex Legends. It was my first battle royale game though and I ended up growing tired of the gameplay loop so I no longer play. Ive read that I need to play Titanfall because I enjoyed the gunplay and movement a lot.
Sekiro, Bloodborne, RDR2, BoTW, XBC2
Kenshi
N Sane Trilogy. RE2make. Smash Bros Ultimate. DMC5. I'm sure Sekiro won't disappoint me when I pick it up after 100%ing DMC5.
Smash 5
League of Legends
it's been 9 years and I still can't stop playing
Days Gone. Played it for 5 days straight. Literally wake up, play all day, go to bed, repeat.
xcom 2 (with DLC)
>inb4 any comment on how better is xenonauts or old xcom games
DMC5 is pretty much like they dragged a game out of 2005 and gave it a graphical glow up
/thread
Xenoblade 1 and 2
Sekiro. It has its flaws but somehow I got very excited with it since the first moment. It feels like the most fun in years.
i forgot to also put this in the reply
These two but also Persona 5 until the boat level where the game shit the bed real quick.
Sekiro
God of War
Metroid SR
Is sekiro that good?
Rocksmith
rock and stone brother
came to post this
i'm going to disable alien hunters from now on, garbage DLC.
yes
game shit the bed in ancient egypt
if you're not too invested in character building its fantastic
ToCS, RDR2, BotW
Dragon Quest XI
same here bros
This and hitman 2
only games i've played recently that lasted more than 10 hours where I got to the end and wished I had more.
Path of Exile
Baba is You
Slay the Spire
Honestly, I kind of get the general sentiment how gaming in general is worse now than it was 15 years ago, but the last couple of years have been pretty alright to be honest. Nice metroidvanias like Hollow Knight, throwback RPGs like Underrail, creative games like Baba is You... I just don't buy into the Doomsday perspective that Yea Forums pushes about gaming being dead. I'm 29 years old if it matters.
Hitman 2 and BotW
Eve Online and Stardew Valley. Yakuza 0 as well now that I think of it
Bloodborne
Breath of the Wild
Hollow Knight
Prey
All fairly recent. Can't give up yet.
I did not disable it. How fucked am I?
Total Warhammer II Mortal Empires.
Straight into my vein desu. Can't stop, won't stop.
Not the best example of this for me, but most recent was AC Origins. For just an AssCreed game, I don't know it was actually really addictive and seemed pretty well made as far as Ubisoft games go
Gen x-ers should fuck off gaming. You ayupid shits
common thread there.
Don't buy AAA garbage and you can still find good games made with passion, whodathunk?
This but I got tired of it pretty quickly.
Dragons Dogma
Bloodborne
Hollow Knight
Sekiro
Pathfinder Kingmaker
Witcher 3
What faction? And what the shit do you do during turn pass?
My old days were CS:GO. It came out in 2012-2013 and I was still in high school. I still play it to this day. And even then, I played Source beforehand. Smash Ultimate came close, but the challenges were easy this time around so I wasn't really hooked.
Kenshi
Witcher 3 was huge for me too. God damn 90 hour first playthrough was such an adventure.
Its addictive because the combat is basically a rhythm game, even more than Soulsborne because the main mechanic here is the parry (even if you do other things). The swords clashing, etc, it feels satisfying. Forget about builds, deep stealth mechanics and exploration (its not rewarding) or heavy replayability (pretty much you do it to get the 4 endings, and further NG are quicker). Just take it as an action game
Kenshi
Mordhau
Ace Combat 7
It's been exceptionally good, just waiting on some Hylics 2 news
I have hope for the future
REmake2
DMC5
Sekiro
Days Gone (currently been playing since launch day)
BoTW unironically, I got it when Smash ult came out since I had gotten a switch at the same time and was hooked.
I played this shit for nearly 20 hours over the course of one long weekend. Now I'm just waiting for more content so I don't burn out before it gets finished.
P5, since that a long string of false starts, I hate the feeling.
Bloodborne, I played it through three times before I was finished with it, and I could do another playthrough now.
I have Sekiro but haven't gotten around to starting it yet, I hope it does the same thing.
I had a huge boner for Shadow Tactics after buying it on a whim. Success felt earned and failure felt like an invigorating learning experience.
>Completionist run of Gravity Rush 2 is roughly 50 hours
>I have 130 hours in the game because of fucking around with the powers and the online
S O U L
Xenoblade X
Not really feeling it with Xenoblade 2.
Xenoblade X-2 when?
imagine if there was an alien that had the skirmisher's interrupt ability, and that they used it for free at the end of every action they took
it's no fun.
Hollow Knight
DMC 5
Horizon: zero dawn
Dishonored 2
First week of fallout 4.
Assassins Creed 2
Spent a stupid amount of time gathering collectibles and building up that villa. I didn’t like syndicate at all, but I’m wondering if I should play origins or odyssey to see if they hook me in the same way
Dominions 5 is the closest thing and yet it's nothing compared to the thousands of hours I put into TF2, Garry's Mod, and various source mods. Still fun though.
Too many modern games are focused on slow teamplay, boring grinds, or just overall meaningless gameplay/no real progression. The only game I even like these days is Smite because I have true control over my actions. Sure I get paired with shitters and lose, but I'm not personally doing worse because of them and can still have fun. My biggest gripe with modern multiplayer games is how tryhard it's become. No one wants to play casually or solo queue, ESPECIALLY on PC where I would be willing to bet at least 75% of my pairings have been up against a full stack of premades on discord. Maybe it's the esports or streaming craze, but I really miss the days of PS3 where it didn't matter if you were shit or good and everyone communicated with mics. Now you boot up a game, no one talks, everyone is 100% focused in a casual lobby, using the end all be all meta build, etc. Playing online used to be an enjoyable experience, now I have to be really serious because everyone else is. I don't even know what to do anymore, multiplayer games are no longer mindless fun. All my friends moved on from video games because of how unfun they have become and I'm still clinging on to hope that one day they'll be fun again. If Halo on PC can't hook me in, I don't think anything else will.
Dragon's Dogma if that counts.
I know it isn't because I'm older since Explores of Sky and Galaxy still hook me like it did the day they came out, Games just aren't the same anymore. man.
but have you done all your death wishes?
Gungeon
Been on my backlog so long and I started playing it a week or so ago and I can't stop
Gravity rush. Bloodborne.
far cry 5:
lost in the bass pro shop edition
Recently been playing HITMAN 2018, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and GTA V on my PS4. I'm hooked because they remind me of those comfy lonely nights playing the old Hitman games, Deus Ex 1, and GTA SA as a teenager on my moms shitty pc. Back then I wasn't so depressed and I didn't feel life was hopeless. I miss those nights a lot.
Devil May Cry 5 was the most fun I've had with a new game in such a long time.
ace combat 7
Dark Souls
back to fortnite
tales of berseria
xenoblade 1,i still remember when i first fought a regular boss and "they will know our names" played for the first time,it chilled my spine when the music synced just as i pulled a chain attack,it has since been the only game that pulled me in as 7 year old again and that's been 6 years already
Such a good game
Hk is such shit
Glad you asked. Yea Forums told me to buy Kingdom Come: Deliverance a year or so ago, you know... to stick it to the liberals. I fucking LOVE Trump, so I did. Anyway, I finally played it and I actually like it.
Hypnospace Outlaw. I played the whole thing in one nine hour session. It still sticks with me. I don't think it's nostalgia. More like I really enjoyed how the game rewarded empathizing with these fictional people seen only through their crappy websites. There's some heartbreaking moments among all the cynicism.
>it has since been the only game that pulled me in as 7 year old again and that's been 6 years already
katana zero hooked me in a lot harder than i thought it would and i'm butthurt that it's only 4 hours long
Sekiro
witcher 3 (just finished last week)
vermintide 2 (though i kind of regret dumping almost 500 hours into it)
eso (stopped playing recently but i spent a good 2/almost 4 months with it as my main game)
sekiro
risk of rain 2
really wish there was some good modern rts/strategy game
I remember opening my PS1, the plastic smell of was something else. Opening my PS4 wasn't a tenth of what that felt.
Sekiro, what are you so dead inside nothing fills the void like it did yesteryear? Haha, good thing that isnt the case, that would be a bummer.
RE2 was the last one and DMC5 a little. I went to sleep after playing, woke up and continued without leaving my room a couple of times
Witcher 3
nuDOOM was fantastic, I don't care what anyone says. I have a feeling Eternal will be the fps of the generation.
Skyward Sword. At least the first playthrough.
Before that, it was SMG 1+2.
The magic just isn't there, anymore.
same
I really want that blood remastered
i was so suprised at how enjoyable this game was
i actually finished it lul
play tekken.
once you match with shitters like you send them steam invite and make private lobbies. even shitters that are better than you are willing to help you out with match ups etc.
Most recent ? Days gone took 3 days to 100% but it was pretty decent game
I enjoyed a lot of games this year but the real hook was probably DMC5. Survival horror doesn't really hook me. I like the games themselves but repeat playthroughs aren't something I typically do for SH unless it's been years since I played the game.
Sekiro was fun but there's not as much reward for repeat playthroughs as there were for the Souls series.
DMC5 though... playing the game is the candy. Cause chaos. Fuck shit up. It's its own reward.
Breath of the Wild. That game blows me away. Even though it has some flaws, I can't wait for Nintendo to iterate on this kind of Zelda. Best game I've played in ten years.
Pandemic Express was fun as fuck for like a day, then everyone got good at it and now it's just tedious having the game play the same way every single time.
>gate opens, everyone runs
>the first batch of people that get on the train get wrecked by being overrun, train stops
>the second batch of people that went scavenging get to the train later with weapons and the train moves again
>train stops right before the exit after repeated bomb zombie spam
>the last 2 survivors are always too good at the game and it feels like it's just 5 minutes of people running into rocket launcher explosions, train doesn't even matter at this point
>zombies win
Every game.
Nuclear Throne
DMC 5
Baba is You
Xenoblade Chronicles
SMT: Strange Journey Redux
DUSK
Rainworld
Hollow Knight
Rayman Legends
Sekiro honestly. But then again I'm a sucker for From games.
Under Night In-Birth, but that'll hopefully change when I actually have the time to sit down and enjoy DMCV after the semester ends.
user, not everyone is as pessimistic as you are. Late 2018 and 2019 have been great for games so far, with only more to look foward to in the future!
Unironically RE2RE and Days Gone.
DMC5
>tfw would always play seated and find myself standing up by the end of a fight because of the hype
Dayz, because I hate free time and love being miserable
Doom 2016
Not every one is into the same games, user
Ys 8 Inferno
age of mythology
what, it's modern
Yakuza 0. It felt like a modern PS2 game.
Does GTA V on the 360 count as modern? that was kinda fun for like a week.
Play yakuza 0
This, I still hate the game with a passion but the honey moon phase was nice
Plenty of games, actually.
Labyrinth of Refrain, Star Ocean 4 (fun to fuck around with the crafting system and character interaction is kino), Sekiro, Bloodborne, SMT IV, Etrian Odyssey V, the whole Danganronpa series, the list goes on.
My jolly African-American.
>Can't even play singleplayer games because it makes me feel lonely without having someone to talk to about it irl
Why am I such a fucking disgrace
>Yakuza 0. It felt like a modern PS2 game.
I never played a Yakuza game before, Do you need to play the earlier games to get into it?
Honestly, only sea of thieves. I loved N:A, ror2, rdr2, re2make, botw, etc. But sea of thieves is the only one that gave me the feeling of doing some shit I didn't think possible in a video game like I did 20 years ago.
Death end re;Quest. I was super skeptical about this game, but something inside told me to buy it on launch, and I don't regret it at all because it's the most I've enjoyed a game in a very long time.
My man. Can relate
Mordhau
Love throwing firebombs at my own team, especially in choke points. Burn it all down.
>Do you need to play the earlier games to get into it?
Yakuza 0 is meant to be an entry point into the series, so no.
Divinity 2. Anyone got some good mod recommendations?
RoR2
Sekiro
Hollow Knight
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen on PC
Dota 2
Rocket League
PUBG
God of War
Neat, So is it basically the japanese version of GTA?
>blood remastered
Night Dive is working on it. Did they actually find the source code, or are they using the alpha code?
Satisfactory
Prior to that, Astroneer and Sea of Thieves
Kiwami. Hated the ending though.
Insurgency: Sandstorm
watframe
Not really. It's more like an RPG with beat 'em up combat, actually good sidequests, and a million mini-games.
I am not a builder it seems. But someday I hope they make a Mario maker in the same spirit of rpg maker. Actually make a story with all your courses.
No clue.
however, there was a deleted tweet by one of the developers saying that it was being released in April, which didn't happen. I could only think that it's near completion though.
Rocket League for sure. Haven't played in a while but that first 1.2k was a thrill and I'm ready for more
Sekiro
Odin Sphere
Devil May Cry 5.
Your first mistake is relying on "modern" games to begin with. No sane person who enjoys movies will go out and see each and every single blockbuster AAA release movie every year because most movies are garbage. It's not just a movie thing though, here's the thing, most books are garbage too.
Just because something is new doesn't mean it's worth your time or money. You should instead be focusing on measuring games by their actual merit as opposed to their release date.
You daft fucking cunt faggot double nigger.
It was so fucking fun in Y1 and Y2, man. I miss it.
