Hollywood keeps making video game to live action movies

>Hollywood keeps making video game to live action movies
>All keep failing terribly except pic related, which was successful enough to generate 5 fucking sequels
What was Resident Evil's secret? What made them stand out where the other keep failing

It was unironically because they completely ignored the source material.

The producer married the actress and so he had a reason to keep making movies.

BORDERLINE EXPERIMENTAL

I mean not completely, they had all the characters and terminology. They just ignored source material plot

Did Jovavich even LIKE playing Alice?

Check out those KRISS Vectors. No sights, we don't need those. I have one of these, they're more front heavy than an AK.

The laser room was cool as fuck

I will never forget Cpt Blackman, who got Tom-and-Jerry-ed by the laser fence.

best video game movie coming through

Attached: postal2.jpg (750x1083, 229K)

Mortal Kombat was better. Resident Evil bugs me because it's so bloodless for a zombie movie. Granted, Mortal Kombat was pretty bloodless for a Mortal Kombat movie, but I find it more fun. Plus, Resident Evil had the R rating, so they had no excuse with that one.

Like it or not, she's married to the director.

>Bloodless
>People and zombies keep getting gibbed

Tomb Raider was good

I honestly don't remember any gibbing. The laser scene was fairly graphic, but nothing else was. Certainly not when compared to something like the original Dawn of the Dead.

Resident evil movies are my dark secret. I know they're shit but I can't help it.

The first one was fairly tame, I'll give you that. But Extinction onward was pretty graphic

Pretty sure she said she does, but she also said she experiments with more serious and personally rewarding roles on indie movies, and leaves the bank to her hollywood movies

The fact its not even a Resident Evil movie? Paul Anderson's "Resident Evil" films is just him putting his wife on screen so he can jack off to her with an immensely thin, insult script put in to thread the scenes together.

You know how some people rag on waifu games because it focuses on waifus to the detriment of everything else in the game? That's what a Paul Anderson RE film, except instead of trying to please film goers, its to please the director. Paul Anderson is basically a waifufag, except his waifu actually exists, married to her, and has the hollywood capital to actually do dumbshit

The Jolie ones, maybe

>first movie actually pretty good as a prequel, certainly makes more sense than that shit sandwich known as RE0's plot
>entire thing falls to absolute shit by the third one

Still doesnt make it any less successful, and still more so than any other vidya series

Ah, I've only seen up to Extinction.

McFucking kill me.

There were other ones?

>Monster Hunter is also a Capcom series
>Hey let's cast Mila
Of fucking course

I still like the first one. also RE kept getting movies just because the director has an in and keeps hiring his wife like user said.

Holy shit, I forgot about that movie. One of the best movies ever made.
youtube.com/watch?v=70_OdIGqX4c

>hey let's hire the same director

Yes. They've made an adaptation of SE's Lara Croft ones

>never got the exposure it deserved because distributors got butthurt over a 9/11 joke

Horror movies are cheap shit anyway so they just blend in. (first one was kinda okay for its time I guess but eh.)

Also Mortal Kombat movie was cheesey, knew it, and was lovable for it.

Hitman wasn't half bad either. Perhaps not amazing but was a passable action movie like a Transporter lite.

fucking this. he made more movies so she could have a paycheck.

>tfw no Capcom cinematic universe
>no MCU Vs CCU trilogy

time to hunt... some undead! hunting resident evil monsters in a theater near you 2020.

KEK

>5th movie was just a reiteration of 1st movie, but with Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy cameos
>Still isnt fucking Claire

>get casting 10/10 for Jill
>turn her into shit ass RE5 design after one film

At least we got a cool song out of it
youtube.com/watch?v=x8FhcOHXa-M

Except there is. It's just RE and MH so far. But MvC sooooon

Because it was loosely based on the Resident Evil universe while somehow being able to fit itself into the canon because the whole movie never shoved itself into the games' plot. HIVE was a completely separate research lab away from Spencer's Mansion and you could easily just consider the whole movie being a side story, similar to games like Outbreak or Dead Aim. It still had its campy stuff like Alice kicking zombie dogs but overall it was decent enough.

Hell, I'd even say Apocalypse would have been better if they hadn't turned Alice into a superwoman so fucking early while stealing Jill's spotlight of all people, she was already fighting fucking Nemesis hand to hand not even halfway through the movie.

>entire purpose of 5th movie is building up a battle that never actually happens
Did they hire GoT's writers?

Can I get the comprehensive list of actual good video game movies and another list of video game movies you can have fun watching ironically?

Resident Evil is the ultimate schlock kino

>not liking bodysuits
How can someone be THIS much of a faggot?

based

Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat
Super Mario Bros
Resident Evil series

Unironically this

>Jill and Chris just fucking disappear after they appear in their respective movies

Also, I find it funny how the actors of Chris and Carlos would have been better taking the role of the other instead.

>when you can pinpoint the exact moment a series goes to shit

Attached: fuckit.jpg (854x433, 83K)

lol no that shit stomps all over the toes of the game as the series progresses, the heroes of the RE games are impotent and weak mortals while alice is a fucking super action hero

that and in the first movie a licker drinks blood and becomes a super licker for some reason, which is like, what?

>Unironically good
RE movies
Jolie Tomb Raider
MK
Silent Hill
Assassins Creed
>Ironically fun
Super Mario
Rampage
Postal
Silent Hill
Doom

if you mentally replace Alice with Dante this scene makes perfect sense.

That's all completely subjective and up to people's opinions. Mortal Kombat is unanimously praised as the best videogame movie because it's very fun to watch so at least there's that. Silent Hill was also ok but changing Harry's character for a woman kind of messed up with the plot.

Prince of Persia is decent enough but personally I don't like it, it has that signature Disney's live action shittiness.

Get ready to add Illumination's Mario to that list.

>changing Harry's character for a woman kind of messed up with the plot.
Only slightly, it was the "BURN THE WITCH" shit that really pulled it down.

I thought that was Street Fighter movie

Are you in charge here?

>Hey, remember those characters from the first movie? Haha, they're back!

From what I remember, Red Queen mentions the licker was already a mutated monster with lots of experimentation on it before it was released. I'd rather have that than an out-of-nowhere Tyrant. Also, Alice's powers don't even start to show until the second movie, her fighting the dogs is the only time when she's show super athletic and she still has trouble with them.

Killing Sybil was fucking stupid, but I can't say I didn't like the ending.

>Haha, they're dead again!
>they didn't even bring the best one back either

Attached: 600px-Resident_Evil-Revolver-3.jpg (600x323, 39K)

He probably had a helmet on

they literally just took the idea from RE3 where Nemesis absorbs a tyrant and gets big.

but they needlessly beefed up a licker when the licker was already a major threat to their survival.

Mortal Kombat is good because its just Enter the Dragon but with monster costumes and magic.

That was the point I think, as the first Licker is what triggered project nemesis in the movie

>casting 10/10 for Jill

I mean Sienna is a cute, but Jill never had this "too cool for school" personality in the games.

Street Fighter is a "so bad it's good" movie. Personally, I can enjoy something like Super Mario Bros because of how ridiculous it is, but I never really liked the Street Fighter movie.

Oh yeah, maybe a lot of people don't remember, but stay away from The Legend of Chun Li.

Wasn't Claire the leader of a survivors convoy in the third movie?

Street Fighter killed Raul Julia, and I cant forgive that

Yes, and Leon still isnt fucking her because his perpetual boner for Ada

*blocks your path*
youtube.com/watch?v=TbTZQD4Xf-c

Leon doesn't even know her in the movies, he just appears out of nowhere to job at the final fight against a fucking literally who OC character who somehow gets even stronger than Jill with a single Las Plagas parasite.

What?

man she is still so good looking

Raul Julia had a severe stomach virus from eating bad sushi during filming of Burning Season

Despite this he still went on to play M Bison and died right after

>Played M Bison to get closer to his kids who loved Street Fighter
You think they ever blames themselves for killing their dad, haha

Will Assassin's Fist be used as the basis for Street Fighter or are they going to make a new movie.

worst sidelined in every movie.
