I want to get into Rune Factory, which game should I start with?
3 or 4
It seems like 1 is overall kind of shit since they weren't quite sure what to do yet.
If you actually care about playing the whole series start with 1, cause going back and playing the older games after playing the newer ones is hell.
Otherwise start with 3 or 4.
Start with 4, each game were improving over the previous one so there's not much point going back to the DS.
>It seems like 1 is overall kind of shit
Shit opinion.
They only get better as you go along, so no matter which one one you start with you shouldn't bother trying the ones before it. I suggest starting with 3 because I started at 3 and liked it but didn't finish it. I absolutely loved 4, and finished a play through with each possible romance option.
Xiao Pai>Forte>all other girls
Leon>Doug>Dylas>Kiel>Arthur>Vishnal
Haven't actually played 1, but that was my impression of what people thought after all these threads. Just that it lacks all these quality of life changed that gradually happened, and doesn't balance the combat and farming well, or something to that extent.
Rune factory is a good substitute for HM now that its dead, I just don't like living in a castle, Prefer a cozy log cabin
1 then 2 because you can't go back to them after playing 3 and 4. Ignore the console spinoffs. Otherwise just 3 and 4.
1 is shit and you really CAN skip it.
Here's the spoiler: Some assholes gave you amnesia and dumped you in Kardia so you could create runes by farming (since that's the only way you would survive). All of this was done to wake up a dragon which turned out to not really be evil.
Also, Mist is a bigger asshole than those guys are.
Start with 2. It starts to actually touch on 4-compass-direction theme the rest of the series is about, and it has Best Girl.
Where do i bet the pickaxe to start mining shit in caves in 1? Does the weirdo on sundays sell it?
Is it just like harvest moon or is it like early monster hunter where you fight monsters but also farm shit? I don’t like harvest moon but like monster hunter and action rpgs like mana series.
How the fuck did you ever come to the conclusion that this was like monster hunter?
I'm glad I got to play RF1 when it came out because it was a couple years after I finished with the SNES harvest moon and the GCN harvest moon. Everything felt so new and cool. I never actually finished the first Rune Factory because I got pretty far and spent time collecting items and farming and then the sequel came out and I had to get it and then I got sucked into playing the sequel and I think I made it to one of the last dungeons in that one and then lost interest. I remember there was some ice cave I was in and you could only enter it in the winter time or in the summer time or something like that and I had to wait another year to enter it again.
I would gladly play them again but I'm just so busy now and I'm not sure it's worth it.
>Ignore the console spinoffs.
Are they bad?
I wish I had a working TV so I can boot up Frontier. how is the PS3 game? It’s on sale right now but I don’t know if I’d rather spend it on Way of the samurai 4 or Akiba’s Trip.
Because you both fight stuff and also have a farm? I know that even in early monster hunter games farming is much more simplified than in any harvest moon, but i wanna have some similar feels. Fighting+managing your farm, basically
All tools are gifted by talking to villagers.
In the hammer's case, I'm pretty sure it's given to you by the blacksmith after unlocking the second dungeon.
1 > Frontier > Oceans > 2 > 3 > 4
or just play Frontier ffs
Misty Bloom is where all interest in playing RF1 goes to die.
It wouldn't be so bad if you weren't able to complete all the dungeons leading up to it in like a week, but, well, you can. And then all you can do is play the waiting game.
Not that bad, just different. Frontier had an awful system called the Runey system that really made the game awful. Haven't gotten around to playing Tides.
You can literally ignore the Runey system (except for getting a couple rune stones to progress the story) and not notice anything.
Using the max runey cheat code is OK here.
I would say play 3 then 4
While 3 is a good game the quality of life improvements between 3 and 4 make it hard to go back
Whichever one this is.
There are 3 ways.
The slow and tedious way: play them in order, 1, 2, 3 and so on.
The way that will lock any previous games: start with either 3 or 4, if you decide to play them you won't be able to play 1 or 2 unless you take the following way.
The masochist way: play 3 or 4 first and then try 1 and 2.
Never played frontier but i heard it was just clunky, slow, and awful. Oceans/tides of Destiny is neat but the farming system is weird and not fun. It's a so-so hack and slash otherwise but features best girl Lily so there's that.
