UNIST

I have never seen a fighting game so unanimously praised, as I have with UNIST. What makes this game better than its peers?

It is unanimously praised because people don't play it

It's Guilty Gear 2.0, don't fall for it

>rewards good offense and good defense
>good balance
>doesn't demand extreme execution, but retains high skill ceiling
>good presentation

Nothing makes it better than it's peers but it has a different flavor to it I guess? It's just a good middle ground in terms of design between 2d anime fighters and 2d non anime fighters.

>cute girls
>great OST
>every char’s actually really balanced with one another and no one character is considered the max dominant
>great tutorial mode & mission mode to teach players mechanics & tutorials
>fast-paced gameplay that keeps people on edge, very Killer Instinct-like
>good swathe of single player content
>humble grassroots community
Being considered the game that killed Melee & making people like Leffen & Hungrycocks seethe forever is just a bonus to UNIST, totally great fighter & I’m mad excited to see how it does at EVO.

Attached: F92FC015-7781-4BEB-B726-ACFB648BBEFA.jpg (1500x1750, 282K)

I haven't played a game so momentum based in my life. This is a regular occurrence because oki is so strong in the game and it's hard for the person defending to get vorpal if the opponent isn't a braindead idiot that does the same blockstrings over and over.

Attached: 1539024029243.png (791x65, 100K)

It's consistently shitted on over at /vg/ fighting generals so I have my doubts, they call it a "discord fighter" since the population is so low (and something about bad netcode).

>humble grassroots community
not since it got to evo, also
>unist gets announced
>leffens first reaction is literally "im not mad about that"

>implying
Because people actually play it. There's a reason Yea Forums has had nightly UNIST threads where they actually play the game since 2017

>humble grassroots community

Attached: 1553874255941.jpg (358x429, 51K)

it’s anime which people won’t touch because they are scared for some reason
It got into evo
It’s anime without crazy air combos and mostly grounded
has a cool roster and the grd system is perfect
It’s Frenchbread and their other game is known for having a die hard community for their games
Best tutorial too

Attached: 96ABCA30-5D8E-458B-87B3-7080E8011AE1.jpg (600x400, 76K)

Should I play it if I like Guilty Gear then?

Attached: 1520257845315.jpg (300x300, 12K)

>It’s anime without crazy air combos and mostly grounded
You guys are literally becoming GG player enhanced edition, especially with the play UNIST meme

Attached: file.png (1016x203, 410K)

>melee killer
Tournament Missed/=Dead, and if I’m not mistaken melee had a decent sized tourney not too long ago.
>balanced
Tell that to Chaos vs Vatista or Hilda.

Seems the game is decided by the meter control. I didnt like it.

yes

UNREAL

when's that cool looking red/orange haired guy going to be playable?

how long until it flips around and everyone starts shitting on it

It's the least "anime" of the anime fighters and more closely resembles Street Fighter. It's accessible, has a killer tutorial, GRD and Vorpal are interesting mechanics, and it has an overall balanced cast (only like two characters are not viable?). That, and it isn't YRC Simulator so it's immediately better than the closest competition.

After EVO especially when the Yuzuhira and Seth gang from Japan comes to wipe every single american player

This is Yuzu or Seth isn't it

It's a 7 year old game that will be easily forgotten after EVO.

It's the"lolmeleekiller". It's the greatest game ever to people that don't play it because it "btfo" a game people not apart of a community hate. Shame too, I think UNI deserves to be remember for it's gameplay, killer music, and fun characters rather than a weapon for outrage fags to use.

Yuzu

I torrent'd it last week it's pretty much melty blood without typemoon and they even kept sion and shiki but with a redesign expect for the sion clone

Explain vorpal to me like I'm retarded

How dead is it on PC EU?

It's a UNIST kusoge mechanic:

>The player which has the most GRD blocks when the circle in the middle of the meter closes, enters the Vorpal state. During the Vorpal state character gains a blue aura around them and their GRD blocks start to shine. Vorpal state rises the damage you deal by 10% and makes it possible to use the Chain Shift.

It's braindead hyperoffensive bullshit that rewards autopiloting combos 24/7

lmao, why the fuck would anyone play this trash instead of tekken

So it's like GG punishing you for backing away/not attacking by killing your meter? I assume Chain Shift is some kind of roman cancel bullshit that lets you pull off better combos?

The best part is that they always play against the same people since anime players don't play ranked, and literally the whole NA scene is a fucking joke and years behind Asia, even more than Tekken

>anime players don't play ranked
What, why? That's the only way to consistently get people to challenge your skill and improve.

That's the ironic part, they don't get better

You also gain a good chunk of GRD if you use shield to block well.

The fanbase is dedicated.
Its got pretty standard FG baggage in all honesty but it is a good game with a good solid dedicated following of players willing to help you learn for the most part.

woah... so this is the power of discord hugbox fighting games... not bad...

Pfffff
You fucking wish

Who are you talking about?

Most don't play ranked because of how shit netcode for fighters is at a certain level, a lot of them are willing to play with people who ask as long as their connection is good.

It's more like YRC on steroids. It freezes the screen and gives you 1 frame of invuln which means it can be used defensively by reacting to your opponents buttons with a reversal of your own. Wakeup CS is very common because of this which is why getting vorpal is so important.

I bought this game in the recent sales.

It’s fucking dead as shit. It’s as dead or more so than soul calibur 6. Why the fuck I listened to you idiots telling me to get this game I’ll never know.

OST is good though.

Are you playing it on Ranked or with a bunch of Discord players or with the Yea Forums regulars in the ungodly late hours?

A game that requires you to coordinate times to play is a shit game. You should just be able to hop on and find opponents.

At least the matchmaking isn’t automatic and let’s you choose from a list. I hate auto matching in fighting games.

how do i learn this game im so bad pls help

>A game that requires you to coordinate times to play is a shit game.
I disagree with that sentiment, but whatever floats your boat. You should, unironically, play Street Fighter V or Tekken 7 if you are really looking for the "hop on and find opponents" experience in a fightan, given the wide player-base for those games.

>unanimously praised
>watch a stream
>it's the same OP faggot lamp character owning everyone over and over again
huh not sure about that

How does the yuzu's hold mechanic works? When do I use it?

deep gameplay, great variety of characters, banger ost, incredible tutorial, generally really fun to play
the only complaint i have with it is that its very very difficult to jump into because most of the people who actively play, play VERY actively.

Do the tutorial, go in the discord and read the pinned messages for your character. Find some other new players to fight and save your replays.

Recreate situations in training mode and figure out what you should do in them.

Repeat that last one forever

>everyone says the game is balanced well and that everyone is viable
>the same broken ass characters keep winning everything
really makes you think

Most people who praise it don't play it, and the people who have aren't constantly praising it.

lamp character? which one is that?

The amount of baiting in this thread is hilarious.

Why do all fighting games have shit netcodes when stuff like MBAACE proves you can have good netcode easily

>A game that requires you to coordinate times to play is a shit game.
Very nice opinion and I agree. I would extend this to having to use discord to find matches as well.

>rewards good offense and good defense
This one is for me the most important one. Most games don't reward good defense or even punish it (e.g. RISC meter, guard block)
I would add that the movement is a middle ground between the airdasher archetype and the traditional SF movement.

Attached: 1550530184367.gif (540x405, 1.42M)

Why do people still say that UNIST killed Melee when it very clearly took Goober Gear's spot

It's an anime fighter with the things that come with that (huge pressure, pretty long combos, great character variety) with some good mechanics (GRD) that doesn't have anything hugely annoying about it. It's pretty good, if you like anime fighters and what they entail.

Personally I've been mostly playing this and SC6, which has the same great character variety but with much more subdued combos and no cuhrazy blockstrings.

My biggest concern for unist isn't the population, it's that French bread will release a new version and make the west wait half a year for it, then make PC players wait another half a year after that.

Because Japan, especially Arcsys, don't give a shit about the West when connection between Japanese remains good.

Unist is a really good fighting game but it will not fix any of your problems you might have with fighting games.

That said it's a well balanced and an nuanced game that has a relatively low skill floor with a high ceiling.

I've been playing it for 4 years AMA

Yuzu's Yuzus or Hilda's Hildas?

>Posts praising the game sound genuine
>Posts shitting on the game sound like your average Yea Forums shitter complaining about a game they can't play
It's like you people are working towards making me ignore threads outside of the times Yea Forums plays this thing. The quality of threads between lobby threads and non lobby threads are astounding.

Attached: 1402865905928.png (477x360, 181K)

Press Yuzu 4b and pause and you'll see its Yuzu free

Because it’s another anime fighter with lazy hitboxes but it’s got good “gamefeel”.

Attached: 0557BDF8-EA06-4A76-8A35-F8A398AEFE33.png (1080x552, 28K)

Yea Forums doesn't play fighting games aside from the guys in the daily UNIST threads amazingly enough

The only problem with UNIST is the e-celebs that vappa loves constantly circlejerking it and never playing it, so exactly what happens to ninety nine percent of fighting games, the slight fickiness of the interpreter, and Wagner.

It's pretty good, I'd reccomend it.

If people played UNIST for game feel they'd all play Akatsuki and Enkidu but I see nothing but Yuzuriha players and any character with a sword has super shitty gamefeel.

vappa as in the twitch/facebook/twitter crowd?
Yeah, they're awful

all we're missing here is some quality linneposting, but surely that will start soon

It’s going to be an awful shit show the same as Blazblue, but I’m sure you haven’t actually watched EVO since Yea Forums can’t into fightin games.
I’d rather have smashtoddlers than another anime “fighting game”

Attached: A198F3D4-92A8-4EC7-B540-A0F2ACC7DADA.jpg (1024x1007, 109K)

I wish these hitbox viewers showed the damn particle effects to stop these dumb meme posts

because playing long sets is a better way to learn, ranked is a meme.

>constantly circlejerking it and never playing it
I think that's just fighting games in general.

gord won ksb yesterday and isnt top tier, stay ignorant though.

So who’s gonna make the room?

Aw shit, I missed KSB
Got a VOD link? Was it Hairou?
The baiting in this thread is ridiculous still

People are tired of melee but considering most the pros seemed to drop melee at the time to play ultimate I’d say it’s more so ultimates fault. Tbh I’d rather see smash played it it’s own nationals then at evo because smash and normal fighting games aren’t the same at all

>460875527
It was kyo, actually mopped up everyone, go check animeilluminati for vod.

You can play long sets in ranked if your game isn't shit, and it's way better than playing against some discord tranny that you stomp effortlessly

Aw shit, Kyo pulled it off.
>anime illuminati
I have my qualms against them but guess I got no choice

I agree with this. The merge was super forced. Smash has it's own tournaments without regular fighting games but if a regular fighting game tournament doesn't have Smash it becomes a problem.

Because good netcode is gaijin-only technology

no you can play a 2 out of 3 in ranked in almost every game but thats it, lobbies are superior in every way imaginable, especially if you care about connection quality.

Doubt the people complaining about the game will want to play.
Will probably refuse to play once they see a higher square color.

damn, discord players on suicide watch. maybe you should drop by the threads some time, run some sets and show us your superior SFV/Tekken fundamentals

Takes forever to find a match, game is dead despite what Yea Forums says

The superior solution is a matchmaking website instead of ranked or discords.

Yea I don’t understand that at all. Smash being a platform fighting is basically its own thing and started its own genre of fighting games so I don’t see why melee players cry so much about missing evo. Hbox just had a decent sized tourney a few days ago and plans to make it national. The scene honestly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

I find games all the time, don't really know what to say.

You can rematch indefinitely in DBFZ unless one of you ranks up. Are you telling me the game you discord shitters dump on constantly actually has better match making mechanics than your precious """"indie"""" darling?

seething

when’s Yea Forums daily thread?

Because Hbox is the biggest drama queen in the world.

It's the game's only claim to relevance. Watch as half of the registered Unist players no-show, just like DBFZ.

Stop trying to sugarcoat this bullshit.
There’s disjoints all over this game.
Doesn’t mean it’s not fairly balanced but it has silly hitboxes.

Yeah, UNIST's shoddy online system is flawed. I can't 100% blame FB for it because it's Arcsys that made the network mode for them.

French Bread hasn't been indie since Actress Again or something

Every fighting game should have goober based lobbies.

Attached: 1554253905435.jpg (600x600, 32K)

That takes effort

Complaining shitters here too scared to play to back up their totally legit arguments.

How is a website better than a chatroom? I wish it wasn't discord too but you can always just make a throwaway to join each time.

Dumb sionum poster

You trust in this place too much to expect them to substantiate their claims.

Less likely to have drama.

youtube.com/watch?v=wbRF4BqM6C8

>Ranked is better than discord because it will always give you a challenging opponent instead of the random sampling of a discord lobby
>Oh yeah?? Fight me in discord then!!!
Are all anime players this stupid?

>Japanese God who wins Japanes tournaments wins American tournaments
What the fuck is the complaint going on here? When was the last time another Byak player won anything?
I know its fucking bait but jesus christ

You don't, I'm a red square in UNIST and I still don't know what the hell I'm doing
All I do with Wagner is shield buff Force Function, gets them everytime.

No, he meant fight you now.
Online.
What don't you understand

More like UNINSTALL because its shit.

It has nothing to do with anything? Why not ask to fight me over which type of apple is the best? How is that an answer to the argument at hand? Golden Delicious by the way

open a room or I kill us all

It's neat, does lots of clever little things to fix problems that the anime fighter genre traditionally has, mostly focused around the GRD system. Characters are unique mechanically and the balance is pretty solid, so there's probably a character you'll enjoy playing. The entry barrier isn't too high despite having lots of mechanics to keep track of, so anyone with any fighting game experience can pick it up relatively quickly. High skill ceiling though, lots of depth to the systems and characters that grows naturally through understanding what beats what and how to bait out shields and when to focus on grd or damage or pressure etc. Good tutorials and mission modes to introduce some of the higher level techniques and concepts and let people grind them in a convenient way rather than having to fumble the training mode into something to let you practice your OSes

It isn't without flaws of course. I'm not a huge fan of the "just hold downback for 30 seconds because they can rebeat and reset pressure safely from half screen" thing, even if it usually means you win the grd war, some of the OSes feel clunky and annoying but are optimal so you have to learn them at some point if you want to go hard. The aesthetic is a little weak at least to me, I'm pretty tired of japanese highschool kids at this point, but it's not as if there's other fighting games with the same look so it's hard to hold it against it and it's certainly not the most generic example of the setting. The really safe defense/safe pressure heavy gameplay makes rounds run long regularly and the timer comes into play a lot more often than other games, which can make getting behind early frustrating and comebacks sometimes impossible. The movement is much less freeform than is traditional in the genre, it's a big part of what keeps the "anime" craziness down but I definitely find Guilty Gear style airdashes and double jumps more fun than Assault.

I guess leffen comes in at a blazing second then. That faggot has an excuse for LITERALLY everything

>ccaster
s-shut up goy that doesn't exist don't you know how full the melty steam lobbies are?

Attached: the prophecy.jpg (569x116, 28K)

I like to believe fighting game discussion has priority over certain arguments. Nobody is going to listen to the guy with like 200 matches under his belt with a terrible win-rate over someone who's got more matches, more experience, and more game knowledge. So sometimes in an argument about fighting games, it might be helpful to know that the person you're arguing with might as well be a shitter whose opinions have no worth in the given argument.
I'm not a part of this conversation but the guy seems to be calling you out to prove that your opinion should matter for anything and your skill should reflect how seriously you can be taken.

he's just as bad but likes to coat everything with a "lol who cares" vibe so he's second place
Both insufferable.

Shiki isn't even as edgy as Shiki though. Let's not even get into how edgy Shiki is.

she literally throws a fucking tornado with that move, and that hitbox is of said tornado.

The baiting in this thread is off the roof.

I'd feel bad for Tsukihime fags for being so forgotten and overshadowed by literally everything TM has done since if they weren't such cunts.

most of the Yea Forums players play a considerable amount of their matches here and fuck around in ranked or discord on the side, way to move those goalposts. I didn't realize we were using this thread to coordinate sets on discord though. Maybe you can meet up with one of us at Evo or Combo Breaker assuming you actually play anything outside of ranked online.

Attached: 1546420545333.jpg (768x768, 44K)

>literally everything TM has done since
This isn't close to being true if you actually followed Type Moon. Fate is not their only other property.

Or play the game at all

Mahoyo didn't really take off though did it.

Mahoyo sequels are more likely than the Tsukihime remake let's be real.

Should I buy the cheaper one on Steam if I like singleplayer fightan and also because I'm a poorfag?

>Mahoyo
>DDD
>Fire Girl
Are all TM properties that have been completely abandoned despite all having received a decent amount of success. The former being abandoned is particularly bizarre considering it's built up so much in other TM works to the point where its antagonist is referenced the absolute most out of any character Nasu has ever written.

A lot of Melee players like Under Night though.

t. Meleefag

No, UNIEL's singleplayer is non-existent outside of Arcade modes and the usual Survival/Score Attack/Time Attack mode.
UNIST has mission mode, tutorial mode, and the story mode in comparison, which still isn't much. This isn't really a good singleplayer fighter

oh, edgy siscon spiderman.

That does not change that 95% of new people into the game pick up H-Roogi and then drop the game out of disappointment.

Attached: melty halfmoons.jpg (857x1202, 256K)

It is a great fame, but I don't really believe that's the reason it gets praised, not entirely at least. Prior to its EVO announcement it got that praise because it was a great game while not being popular enough for anyone to care about shitposting about it or for it to be exposed to enough people that people who won't like it play it and go on to shit on it. After its EVO announcement it has gotten praise, partially because it's still a great game, but also because people built up the meme of it being the game to kick out Melee and so people just post bonk and Yuzuriha's Bath Water alongside "Praise FB for killing smelee." It is a great game that the end of the day though which is all that really matters, and while I know it's a lot of people's favorite current fighting game and I can see where they're coming from in feeling that way, even if you think it's the best it's certainly not so heads and shoulders above the rest for the others to get a fair amount of shit and UNIST to get very little purely based on the quality of all the games involved.

He's not edgy. He's a good boi.

well, I guess he's either dodging or there'll be a new player mopping everyone Sunday night. can't say I expected anything else, but I've wasted enough time in this dumpster fire of a thread

Attached: 1551525139938.png (675x750, 50K)

Every fighting game that's not NRS, Tekken and SF rely on discord, so that point is moot.

>buying any fighting game that's not MK/Injustce for the single player
I guess poorfags are fucking stupid as well.

but smash doesn't tho?

Yuzu

Attached: A6DD5D39-F6E9-4A81-860B-36B929A9623B.png (1200x590, 792K)

>buying mk/injustice
>at all
>ever

Attached: 1502549695052.jpg (1920x1080, 547K)

so what are the tiers for this game?

at least these games have single player content that's worth while (even if you prefer other aesthetic/gameplay mechanics). i don't know anyone who buys UNIST for fucking single player except maybe naive normies who want to go to EVO but drop it after an hour.

>not having a separate hit box for projectiles is fine

A projectile is by nature a disjoint, calling it a “fucking” tornado doesn’t make it good game design

what are you even trying to say?

>Is really strong
Seth, Phonon, Yuzuriha, Vatista
>Is Strong
Everyone Else
>Disadvantageous
Enkidu Mika

don't worry, he doesn't fucking play the game because he thinks it's a projectile and not a normal

Alright but where's the eltnum jav

In discord/twitter you memeing fuck

>Wagner downplayers
pls go and stay go

The game has ridiculous disjoints.
Doesn’t make it a bad game. Doesn’t make it unbalanced.
But long gone are the days of KOF98 or Street Fighter, where hitboxes are carefully placed and spaced most are big boxes, and priority/combo strings are more important than individual moves.

Not a bad thing, just a shift I’m not a fan of.

Poor Enkidu. Frame buffs, when?

If we’re in a good timeline both will be in Evo when Goober gets its next game.

it could be funny know if those armpits smells hahaha

>Having problems with Wagner
Learn to block overheads, most of the online wagers are absolute SHIT.

Yuzuriha's philosophy is fucking nonsensical.

overheads are not the reason Wagner is strong...

Well I sure don't have a problem with her.
Even if she's obnoxious when she gets metered offense, I'd still rather fight her than Sion.

So like, do you still just press one button and your character auto combos?

Or just get in her grill and she's pretty much fucked. Bitch cannot handle rushdown at all.

can I be competitive playing this game using a keyboard?

She's got some bullshit where she can combo off of a CH 623B trade but yeah, that too. I hardly put her among the top 5 annoying characters. Most wagner shitters in tournaments that aren't redblade and schoolbus are completely forgettable too

You can be competitive with anything if you put your heart and soul into it.
youtube.com/watch?v=n_irhlVNkKM

Holy fucking shit I just had this brainfart and read Wagner as Yuzu. Shit, mybad.

Space her out and mixup your wakeup.

Yuzu still has 4B which will catch most options that aren't low.
So yeah, in that regard, go for lows.

Anyone up for a PC lobby? I'll make one if I get at least one (you)
Ye

^^^^
Anime fighters just aren’t as spacing minded, they’re more pressure oriented.
I’ve played the game. Not consistently enough clearly, but my point is widespread through the whole game.

For a few rounds, sure.

I wish I could join but I'm on PS4

Attached: __erika_wagner_under_night_in_birth_and_under_night_in_birth_exe_late_st_drawn_by_suwaiya__1f595b63f (794x1500, 82K)

Against my better judgment, I'm going to open up a PS4 lobby
Well aren't you in luck

Attached: D0LWutcV4AI-IMP.png orig.png (870x610, 514K)

Yeah, I have it on PS4 as well, but I'm too poor for PS plus right now
Keyword is RAGE

Pass is vee.
Gonna shoot for an hour or even fewer depending on if anyone cares to join.

Oh Lord, those frame drops. Select Park or Training Room. Those are the net friendly rooms.

I’m not any good at fighting games, but I like the aesthetic of the game, and the waifus look pretty hot. Is the story any good?

Attached: E1917DC7-AC57-4754-A2A3-16CB08802DDF.jpg (1280x720, 49K)

Yeah, keyboard is fine as long as you don't have ghosting/rollover issues, lots of them won't let you press certain combinations of keys because of the way the switches are wired together.

Also it's probably a good idea to use a hitbox style layout like A S D Space for left/down/right/up so if you want to start going to locals at some point you can make the transition to a hitbox or stick more easily and won't be stuck with wrong handed muscle memory from using the arrow keys.

Fuck Ishiwatari. 3 bars of connection and there's stutter everywhere.

If you ever played Melty Blood for the plot, its along those lines

Shit, sorry to close the room so suddenly, some stuff came up

So incoherent outside of ReACT's story mode

That's fine. GGs. Hope to see you again sometime.

Attached: 1543796917740.jpg (1200x750, 216K)

It's a lot like Persona 3 in terms of its setting

You can hold a button to tech, no need to mash like you have parkinsons

It's more like Melty in terms of setting. The only P3 analogue is the Dark Hour.

>there will never be an SMT-styled UNIST first person dungeon crawler

PC or PS4? It’s on sale on both.

The shit netcode, unga blockstrings, long combos that are super repetitive, etc.
It's praised because no one plays it

>humble grassroots community
>the game that killed Melee & making people like Leffen & Hungrycocks seethe forever is just a bonus to UNIST

This isn't humble at all

Is there people still playing the first one? Late, instead of Late[st] the price difference is huge...

We're playing it right now, scum

There's no way you can just hold grab to tech throws.

You're mashing while you're in hit stun though.
In the air

I think he's talking about knockdown user, otherwise that's a sure way to get TRMd once the other player is on to you

Depends on which is your go-to rig for fighting games. This does have some players in the later hours for the PC but I suspect that the PS4 has a larger player-base. I'd wait until you hear from someone who has both to make the decision, though. I play PC, but the netcode can be utter ass (and if any of the older unreal black hours Yea Forums threads are to go by, the PS4 also has utter ass netcode as well).
Seriously, ArcSys, why the shitty netcode.

Attached: 1555397869645.png (500x500, 158K)

How do you get so good at memorizing block strings? And why does it drop my block sometimes?

does this game have shotos?

Akatsuki and Hyde both have a fireball, dp, and tatsu but the game's nature means both don't really end up playing like shoto.

The more you play, the more you know what to expect.

Just do stuff safe on block

If anything UNIST didn't kill anything. It just so happens that it was announced in the lineup last. It just replaced Guilty Gear if anything else. What people should be pointing fingers at is SamSho

New? We play it here almost everyday.

pc lobby, pclobby
only playing a few while I take a break from work

Jesus christ, it's never been this bad before.

Wow, that really is worse than it's ever been.

I'd play more since these are names I don't recognize but the stutter is really killing it.
Which is awful because 3 bar connections are usually good.
You guys are free to continue playing if the stutters are hopefully happening when you're only playing me

damn, the connection really took a shit there
sorry for dodging you in ranked the other day, if it makes you feel better I would start dodging after those last few games too

Attached: 10frame.png (210x256, 65K)

That's fine and understandable. The lag probably contributed a lot to the last "win".

can you tekken niggers fuck off?
people who like fighting games avoid that shitpile hard. its smash bros tier.

Oh, "they're" here

the few who played it are desperate to defend and market it with nonsense like "its just like street fighter"

Not really working if you still get washed by Japs unless they haven't played in years in your main game.

>years behind Asia
NA actually has a good chance to win evo.

why is your oki so reliant on not blocking 66b/66c? delay wakeup wrecks it and it's pretty fraudulent outside of 5f connections. why not stagger some buttons and work some frame traps and the throw game?
also who was that new face, you might as well play now that you're here

Attached: ratto.jpg (3024x4032, 1.04M)

Why do people who don't play the game care about the competitive scene?

It's trash man, just retarded people hyping up a dead game.

The same way they hype up Tekken 7. Trash juggling game only alive in Steam due to Asia

>NA actually has a good chance to win evo.
This is a really fucking good joke. Are UNIST fags really this delusional because they beat some tertiary players who only played for a few weeks?

It's a discord game in every region except Japan.

literally no one who actually plays the game competently says that, only people who watch twitch streans

Wait, so why do people who don't play the game think they know about the competitive scene?

People are too happy to just see Samsho back period.

>UNIST Killed Melee
If anything, Samsho is the one that took Melee's place. Unist took GG's place, and sadly, between Melee and Unist coming back to EVO again, we know it won't be Unist.

Jesus Christ you are out of your depth. Japan is going to utterly wash NA and I will bet thousands on that. Is any faggot really dumb enough to bet against me, doubt it?

>i-it's the best fighting game
>i swear
>g-go and buy it now

It's obviously shit or people would actually play it.

The fuck is Azhi?

I'm on the boat that agrees with you, it doesn't take a genius to figure Japan outclasses America but let's not pretend you play the game for your opinion to really matter.

/afgg/ spends all their time talking shit about all of the other anime games being trash/ dead and their anime game being the best. Outside of that, it's just dudes talking about discord dweebs or telling tourists into the general that their games aren't dead and worth playing despite the no players.

/fgg/ spends it's whole time falseflagging as /vappa/ posters and calling everything that isn't SF V dead and making fun of people playing SF V because it's garbage.

At least there is an odd poster or two playing Melty Blood in /afgg/ but no one plays shit in /fgg/ and neither's opinions on fighters should be taken seriously.

What? So exposure in an actual fighting game event is not how grassroot communities are expected to grow?

Attached: 5t7GaEQ.png (654x652, 723K)

People who take bandwagoners seriously are just as bad as obnoxious bandwagoners it looks like

Yuzu seems cool as fuck but her inputs feel so weird. Gonna stick with Eltnum and get this JAV

ggs. I'll probably be heading out myself after a few more games. I've admittedly been awake since I joined last night's lobby.

You should've posted the extended version of this combo. Where you do two 214c's at the end.

?

At this point, the community has kept itself alive for so long that it'll only really get bigger at this point with the exposure. US won't do great, but GG still has a following in the US and we're free as fuck in that game too. It also is visually more normie friendly because of it being more ground based.

>Yea Forums's weakest akatsuki player schools /afgg/ and /vg/ so hard that they both worship him and dox the hell out of him for exposing them so hard
>it's not until later when actually good people buy the PC version to reveal that the generals are worse than the worst.

I wish I was good at this game. I can't even execute charge moves. I'm having fun with easy bitchmode MK instead.

Anecdotal but I was able to find GGXrd and Chaos Code lobbies at /afgg/. Also it seems recently there have been more requests for N+B and SamShoVSP.

>/vg/
Literally a containment board to begin with, there is 0 general thats ever good. Say what you will about Discord, just go to the lobby thread, post the fucking room and pw and ignore the tranny drama in the general sections

They switch games every month since it takes them a while to realize they won't be good at their newly switched game and jump ship

In UNIST? Didn't one of the best NA Unist players fly out to Japan and get bodied literally this week?

Oh shit, I may have to play a few more since we have such a massive fan of the Phonon matchup here

Attached: out_to_kill.png (301x315, 53K)

>Yuzu is a lazy bum who talks about how she picked up her sword and just started swinging it
>incredibly high execution
>Enkidu has years of experience and has an incredibly hard work ethic
>just mash 2C for 3000 damage

NA is shit vs Japs in anime fighters period. The closest """"threat"""" would be Lost Soul and even he struggles with some of the mid level Mikado players in GG. Kudos to him though since he's actually taken seriously by Japs. All the others are food, and SKD can eat shit too.

The more experience the character has, the less work you have to do as the player.

Attached: 1549324566851.png (128x128, 26K)

Anona...

>Mash 2C
>Be -17 on block and die
People can meme how easy he is but fuck me there's only like a handful of enkidus who actually know how to do 623 combos in the corner.

ggs PSN and PC. Glad to have had the chance to play the two new guys on PSN even if it was for just two matches. Drop by the regular lobbies some times if you're able to.

I'm so glad I found these threads. /vg/ and /afgg/ have probably reduced my sanity even more than I thought possible.

Same. I'm having enough fun just playing missions and casual lobbies, though.

UNIST threads are an anomaly desu. Too bad the GG lobby threads got banished to /vg/ things wouldve been different of it didnt.

I fuck with this post. The lobbies are the best part of that game. I would love it's inclusion in Tekken and Unist as well.

is this canon

to be fair if Enkidu was a top tier like the others with his inputs and better frame data, the game would be a lot less fun and rewarding for the high execution high tier characters

Yes, they wouldn't draw her life this if she didn't have those.

No

That's why no official art depicts her like this.

I feel bad for all the people who think Melee is dead.

They're just going to be disappointed again when it still lives past their favorite game.

Attached: 1451764051356.jpg (449x449, 54K)

Evidently his combos are "difficult" enough for so few people to actually know how to play him properly.

Because they aren't ready to reveal it officially yet

Prove that it's official

Maybe you should read the story

got a question, how good and fun is neutral in this game and how opressive and long are the combos? never played anime past intermediate GG and want to try some 2d after playing tekken for a while

Attached: 1529205290825.png (482x475, 571K)

Where in the story does it actually say that.

linne's spats

I still get ranked matches in sc6 pretty easily

It's as oppressive as how skilled your opponent is at their reverse beat.

Absolutely, I never said that he was easy and he could certainly use buffs but people are less likely to pick him up with the talk of him being a low tier and the waifu potential in the game

also, couple games and I'm out

>how good and fun is neutral in this game
full screen normals depending on who you're playing
>long are the combos
10 seconds if playing against a phonon

Is there a way to slow the game down in training mode? I inquired a couple of threads ago about whether Akatsuki's 6C > 2C works at any range and after testing it further I'm still not sure if it works at 6C's absolute furthest ranges and my inputs are sloppy, or if it doesn't work at all ranges. I can do it if I combo into 6C from literally every other move so at this point I want to slow down the game and see if it's possible.

You're the Linne player?
I'm the Wagner player

Its grounded, with some characters having longer aerial combos than most. I'd say the only thing that turns off a lot of players is that the pressure game is atrong due to the nature of Reverse Beating normals, so there is a tendency to hold blockstrings for some time until you see an opening

Yeah there is. It's an option in the menu

I'll check again. I could only find it in mission mode.

you can slow it down in mission mode, at least

You gotta read between the lines

I'm actually serious about this, user. Who's arcade or story mode.

Are missions really helpful? I’m almost at Veteran missions, but I feel like a lot of the combos have better alts.

>why is your oki so reliant on not blocking 66b/66c?
I think I have been using it too much as a crutch, and partially, I think it also catches people off guard and I just ended up learning the bad habit of relying on it.
>delay wakeup wrecks it and it's pretty fraudulent outside of 5f connections.
You don't have to tell me. Rusty really started to abuse the delayed wake up in order to put me in disadvantage. It's a hard habit to break.
>why not stagger some buttons and work some frame traps and the throw game?
I'll need to look up the resource again, in that case. I think that in cases where Mika is at a disadvantage in the neutral (which is pretty much nearly all of the match ups), I end up worrying too much about how to best get in in the first place. It didn't help that Phonon and Yuzu have 3/4th screen moves that come out lightning quick.
I'll try to incorporate some of what you stated I should work in though. No guarantees, though. Old habits die hard. Thank you for your critique and insight. I think the penultimate match I had with lolb was helped by trying out what you have suggested. GGs.
GG's.

Attached: 1556082738878.jpg (900x900, 183K)

They're not the most optimal anymore but do show off a lot of the most common links for higher end combos. They're a good place to start for beginners at least.

Veteran missions are where the actual combos start. Nearly everything before them are just mandatory easy stuff for people who can't do the veteran missions

Yeah. ggs Your play was pretty solid, though I think I might have been more familiar with the matchup in general. We don't have a regular wagner player in the nightly lobbies anymore, though.

From comparing mission mode to watching VODs and reading written guides my impression is that missions aren't really optimal but they teach you a lot of stuff that is applied in the optimal combos.

What should I have down before I join the Yea Forums lobbies for this game?

Am I gonna get harrassed if I play badly?

Attached: 1499599814667.jpg (240x250, 5K)

No. You’ll be fine.

Know a BnB
Avoid frogs
Nobody gets harassed as long as they don't act like an ass

You're going to lose anyway. You could go watch the stream archive and see how everyone plays but it won't save you from dying.

You're going to lose, so if you think that's harassment, yes. But they tolerate me when I decide to play with them and I'm just mediocre.

I would like the join those lobbies but I'm a east coast wage slave.

Are there any main Chaos players on Yea Forums lobbies?

Used to be back when the game started with JP release.
Not so much anymore, one of them moved to Japan too and can't play with us.

It's nothing like GG but still yes.
t. I like GG and UNIST

I thought to fireball at that range was like plus six

The ones who have had bad days or are just acerbic in nature will probably yell at you. For the most part, though, the nightly threads are chill. Expect to get pounded, though. Those guys are pretty good.

we have 2 chaos mains on PC

SHINI WHAT IS THIS?

TRULY WE NOW HAVE BECOME UNREAL BLACK THINGS.

Just go through the tutorial and get a basic bnbs down. I grinded some ranked games before I joined, but you really don't have to.
That's a shame. I'm also EC, but my schedule's more flexible even though I'm busy. Since we're nearby, we can add each other if you want some games. Admittedly, I don't play much netplay outside of the regular lobbies and labbing anymore.

Not the frog, can you guys do teaching games? I mean like in Go or Chess where the teacher beats the shit out of you but only uses 10% of their true power like an anime character so that the novice can learn something?
I'd love to play with you guys but the idea of getting Seth combo'd and not learning a damn thing the whole match while things spiral out of my control just makes me wanna hide in training mode more. Even if someone bullied me by just punishing the same thing over and over to make a point is less shitty feeling than the former example.
Idk about my ramble, I just think a Yea Forums dojo is cool I guess and wish I wasn't so bad.

Eh, most of the time I add somebody from FGs we never play against each other.
Thanks for the offer though.

No point in running away. You're going to get fucked, it gets easier and more lubricated the more you play. Just pop the cherry.

Fair enough. Same happens with me, but I wanted to put the offer out there. ggs.

I was so confused that round since you showed up on my side. I want to play more but I need to implement a model in Matlab and I've been up since 5...

ggs, I need to be more patient and better with OSes in your pressure

People tend to use their secondary characters for fighting really new players, but coddling won't really do much.
At most, in the PS lobbies, there are a handful of new players joining up so fighting the other new players will help you.
Anyone is willing to give advice if you ask for it.

Is ps4 or pc more populated in terms of online?

Do I need ti know Seth's level 4 combos?

PC has more newbies I think
PS got those guys who've been playing a year in advance.
I think PC just barely edges out though, both platforms got a boost after EVO

We don't really have any Seth's outside of subs, but even then that can be pretty scary if you aren't aware of his setups at all. At the very least you should be able to take things away from your losses.
hopefully you like setplay if you run into the resident byaks

Unless you're confident you can open someone up without problem, very much so. You won't get that much damage out from him otherwise.
4-1 is his most basic thing

Let's be fair, hippie's subs can almost count as other people's mains sometimes.

Most certainly, but I think he has the strongest subs out of anyone by a long shot in terms of consistency across 5+ characters. I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty damn happy when he actually started playing Hyde against me since I could take games off his subs.

Guess I better hit the lab

Here's a tip, when you're doing the fast-fall kick just do 22 and hold forward and an attack instead of inputting them separately.

Byak looks edgy?
I'd agree with you with Hyde and Carmine but Byak hardly looks edgy.

Hyde is most wholesome

Attached: 20160714000615.jpg (1920x1080, 370K)

Hyde is top three edgiest characters in the game

the other thing about playing in the lobbies is that you get to see how other players deal with things, even if it's not the same character there are broad things you can apply

Hyde's just a house husband

Bought the game not too long ago because it looked appealing and I wanted to try a more traditional fighter and UNIST seemed like the one for me but I completely suck at it. I somewhat understand the game (I did some tutorial but not all). I can't seem to do any real combos and got completely embarrassed by my friend who never touched it before and beat me most of the time (He played Mika, Merkava and Enkidu)
Here's my question(s)
How do I get better besides practice? any tips?
How do I avoid getting stuck in the corner (he did this to me with Merkava and Enkidu)
Inputs some times don't go in, is that the game or the Dualshock D pad?
I'm a big fan of Phonon and Wagner so any tips on either would be appreciated

How's the matchmaking on PS4?
I expect it to be entirely dead, but if there's a little bit of playerbase where I won't have to go on a discord or something, I'll be happy.

just closed it, lolb will probably rejoin if you put one up though

Attached: 1551978298583.jpg (512x1106, 52K)

He looks like that kid that wanted to be sasuke or gara instead of naruto

You can find lobbies here on Yea Forums 5 nights out of 7.
As far as I'm concerned, I find public lobbies and ranked matches whenever I get on in the afternoon and late at night.

I mostly go on ranked and there's a decent amount of players, enough for me to play for 2-3 hours.
With the sale going on there's even more players.

Attached: __erika_wagner_under_night_in_birth_drawn_by_bonkiru__075b1070ac1514df8efa771e51ddaef2.jpg (1600x2132, 298K)

All he cared about was his sister.

I would love a JoJo fighter that plays like it. though I wonder how hard to it would be to make each stand unique when most just punch. UNIST itself I great though and I hope more fighters play like it

>How do I get better besides practice? any tips?
Watch replays, pro arcade matches, learn better habits and integrate them into your own play.
>How do I avoid getting stuck in the corner
Smart use of pushblock. Can't stress the "Smart" part about smart use of pushblock because if you fuck up pushblocking, you'll get grd broken and be stuck with a disadvantage. Merk is a bit tougher to deal with while Enkidu's buttons are slow and has gaps.
>Input
I'll mostly assume it's a general execution error on your part since you're just starting out. Maybe it's the Dpad, I wouldn't know, I'm a weirdo who plays on analog
>Phonon and Wagner
I'll the the Phonon players answer that but generally learn to reverse beat and keep people in your effective range. j[C] in the air and j236A/B coming down. For wagner, consult this image.
Also, if you want out of the corner, learn to use defensive Chain Shifts to reversal out since both your characters have that option.

Attached: This beats going into the archives 2.png (1759x396, 103K)

Yeah, which is why says he only looks edgy but is wholesome.

I still don't think he even looks edgy, just creepy.

I doubt FB is turning back to licensed games like Melty but it would be cool to have a non garbage JoJo fighter

Play HFTF

Attached: incel chaka.png (618x958, 865K)

>how do I get better outside of practice
think about the game and analyze high level play and understand why they make the decisions they do. revisit the tutorial and mechanics primers every once in a while and you might get new insights into the game. You're going to need to practice and be comfortable enough with whoever you play before you can really start pushing into higher levels of play though.
>how do I avoid getting stuck in the corner
you don't, and especially playing pho you need to learn to just chill sometimes without a meterless reversal. offense is not that oppressive in this game (compared to go/bb) and you are rewarded for playing defense well. Sometimes you just have to wait your turn/win vorpal since in ranges like Wagner 6b pho buttons get cooked.
>inputs
it's probably you especially since I assume you're not used to fg inputs based on what you said. practice. note that uni prioritizes 623 over 236, so if you want to do a fireball out of run, you need to let off the dpad and not input a forward direction for a few frames. if you don't, you'll just get a dp and eat a punish.

t. Phonon main

I hope you guys are watching KVO.

So like rage, but a different way to get the buff?

all these mid screen confirms are throwing me for a loop and its esp worse since i'm coming from dbfz

>How do I get better besides practice? any tips?
My steps for learning fighting games is learn a basic full combo that uses your jump cancel and leads to a knockdown. Usually 3-x or 4-x combos are generally what you should aim for, you can optimize later when you're comfortable.
Go into a match with a specific purpose other than winning. For example, landing a combo you have practiced, or a blockstring you have learned. Take things slowly, learn one thing at a time.

>How do I avoid getting stuck in the corner
Wait for an opening and know your character's spacing to know when you can challenge something. There's also veil off, guard thrust and DPs

Yeah I'm thinking of it's the d pad because the dualshock 4 directions are separated for some reason, might just buy an adapter so I can use my Switch Pro since it's way more comfortable.
As for the character tips......I don't understand any of that man I have only ever played smash so I'm completely retarded on how to read traditional fighter inputs especially when it's like j236A/B, I don't fucking understand it all I know is that ■=A ▲=B ●=C X= D and that that different inputs like up or down does a different L/M/H attack and you can cancel them and all that

jousting with full screen normals which convert into cornerfucking

At what fucking time I can never find someone to play with on psn and I need to improve my scrub level

Look at your keyboard numpad
789
456
123
Just seems to me you're in for an extended session of practice getting used to traditional fighters.

I would but I rather have a new one on my Switch and or PS4 that's more balanced, has more characters, features and online without netplay

??? What keyboard man?

Maybe at like 2-4PM and 9-11PM, I find people fighting then. That's when I just fuck around in ranked. 7-9PM is also pretty populous.
Are you using a computer to type with us or using a phone.

Holding keeps Yuzu in stance, her frametrap zoning mode. 6A/B/C comes out faster and all her specials can be canceled into each other. You use it basically whenever you start zoning with 236A or 236B.

C holds are recommended since 236C and 214C give you unwanted EX moves when you're over 100 meter, meaning the C button is generally less useful.

You also get a significant amount of damage for holding when you're using any special in her combos. See youtu.be/i67o-06cQAs

The literal keyboard on your computer, not your controller my man. A is square, b is triangle and c is circle

tons of players for different fighting games play with the DS4, it seems like you just need to get used to it
please play the first few sections of the tutorial so you understand the mechanics and shit so we're not speaking a different language to you

Cool, is it PST? If so I may afford to play only on weekends.

CST in my case, you'll have more time to mess with since you're PST.

Phone since it's late and it's more comfortable
I know what ABCD is but I don't understand the numbers and js
I did over 80 lessons of the basics tutorial and none of them told me about the numbers or whatever j is supposed to be.
I'm playing on PS4 so there is no keyboard involved

Then take a look at a keyboard and .
Just apply yourself, nearly all motion inputs in this game are universal.

It is a buff that is rewarded once you win the GRD cycle by having more GRD than your opponent when the cycle ends. You gain more GRD by playing offensively or shielding well.

Vorpal gives you access to things such as:
- Character specific vorpal traits.
- 10% more damage
- Chain Shift
- Guard thrust without breaking your GRD, at the cost of ending your vorpal buff.

Chain shifting has various uses such as making special moves safe so you can extend your blockstrings or combos and can also be used on wake up to see your opponent's actions and follow up your next action appropriately. It will convert your GRD blocks into meter and end your vorpal buff.

>js
Jump attacks.

So that's what that shit is? The game only shows the arrows so i didn't know what the hell I was reading when I was looking at a phonon video and I couldn't find anything helpful on Google when I literally typed in how to read fighting game inputs or something similar. This clears things up a bit but I still don't understand what j is and I assume the / means cancel into __?

see
number notation is used to show which direction you should be pressing on the dpad and j simply means jump

so j.a would be jump a
j.2[b] is an extended b press in the air holding down on the dpad, which can also be written as j.ic2b
jc means jump cancel, so for phonon 4b jump canceled into increased jump c attack would be 4b>7/8/9/jc>j.[C]

Attached: 1550651269406.jpg (1024x822, 83K)

And CVO

What button do I press for Phonon's upskirt?

Play Vanguard Princess

It's anime notation
Comes from niche weeb games where they need to say things like delay jumping charged down medium attack 13 times per combo, you can't write all that shit out longhand in moonrunes.
Also helps avoid language barriers so theoretically everyone can share tech. Mostly just lets the west leech combos off twitter though

stop lewding the middle school dork, there's already linne, hilda, yuzu, and vat for you degens

Attached: 1541210778501.jpg (1118x1584, 401K)

How was I supposed to know with the way she talks? I just need it for color coordination.

I see, I get it a little more now but it's still a bit confusing and will take time to get used to this format, and I assume for most of these I have to input these quickly yeah? That might be a problem though since I have a thing where my body tenses and I feel the need to stretch or do fast leg movements whenever I try to tap or click super faster for some reason. As for the input methods I think I switch over to the Pro controller with a adapter since it has a real d pad and Is way better to hold and the life isn't shit. I probably won't be doing any tournaments but if I ever do are adapters allowed? Also why isn't there cross play for this game? The online doesn't seem to be very active and it's kinda shit (in terms of not being able to do something like quick play), it's only on like 3 platforms anyway so why not just have all be able to play with each other? ( and switch too hopefully)

Yeah, adapters are allowed. Never saw anyone play with a switch controller though.
>crossplay
Sony I guess. Online is active from what I see though, definitely a lot more active than it was years ago. Quick Play might as well be ranked matches but yeah, anime fighters mostly take place in lobbies.

use your imagination then I guess, I really don't see that much pho art in general let alone lewds it's kinda sad seeing all the other characters get so much art now
that would require french bread's own server infrastructure and it's like a 20 person company at most. SFV has PC/PS crossplay because they're (Capcom) a massive company and they have the resources for that. it works between ps3/4 though.
adapters are allowed.

>Also why isn't there cross play for this game?
There are like a grand total of two fighting games that have crossplay, and one of them has crossplay because it's not on PS3/4 so they don't have to deal with Sony.

99% lewds for this game are straight up fucking garbage. Jesus christ, the pixiv page for this series is abysmal outside of twitter artists sharing month old works they finally put up there.
I mean it keeps the annoying waifufags/lewdfag secondaries out by having terrible porn is just unflattering.

Attached: 1549523668064.jpg (672x413, 349K)

I don't even care about porn, I just want to have more than 5 fucking pictures to post in these threads. Everyone who wants to draw porn just draws Linne/Yuzu with maybe some Orie/Wagner anyway. I might just have to commission the shit myself now that I'll be able to hopefully find a good job.

Oh, if it's just phonon pictures then you're really just better off looking up twitter.
Or just asking me for some.
This point might be autistic but I mostly dislike how everyone just draws the characters and hardly ever anything any group shots.

Attached: D0KprVvVAAAQ8HU.jpg orig.jpg (756x1014, 97K)

there's a good chance I have them all saved based on the number in existence as of now

At least there are corny ones like these. You're right that the group pics are few and far between.

Attached: 1551241638690.gif (1280x720, 2.93M)

Just about every character is fun, whereas in say blazblue or guilty gear I only like 10-20% of the roster
Despite already knowing my mains (Merk, Wagner) I still want to learn how to play Seth, Orie, Akatsuki, Gordeau, and maybe Linne at some point because they all seem fun as fuck when you know what you're doing

>20 man company
Christ, really? I didn't know that but I guess it's understandable but since the game is kinda getting more popular (Is it?) you would think they would be hire more or get bought by someone like SEGA or Capcom.
Why is that? Is it just not wanting to deal with Sony's shit and saying no to it for whatever dumbass reason? Is it just japs being shit with online stuff or money? It's pretty shit wither way because if it isn't popular or was but died down the online for smaller games is either dead as hell or have 3 lobbies by the same people or require to join something like a Discord or Reddit group, while it might not make it a thriving online it's better than having both platforms separated. That's why I put off buying fighters on switch because everyone plays smash or the online is dead after a week or two

You're probably not wrong.
Her complete disconnect with most of the cast doesn't help
I don't know the official headcount for the company itself but it is a small group. They also have been hiring new sprite artists and the likes for the past year.
And yeah, I'd definitely say it's getting more popular.

Attached: CKmYWpqUYAAAdfX.png orig.png (900x969, 848K)

is this game better than blazblue crosstag?

I'd definitely say so.

I don't think Tag is as fun as the 3 games that are involved with it.

Attached: Kanji.gif (317x178, 112K)

even for a beginner like me?

How much did you get out of tag? Did you at least know some combos or was mashing all you did? The skill floor for the game is reasonably small as long as you pay attention to mission mode and tutorial mode.

>get bought out by sega or capcom
yeah, no not that it would happen anyway
I'll do everything I can to support them by buying copies on PC/PS etc. and shilling the game but I would hate to see something like that since even if I'm not big into Melty Blood I have an attachment to Type-Moon and their shit. I'm not sure what kind of relationship they have with Arc System Works but it seems like they still control a lot of the parts of the products they put out and aren't soulless.
that's a rather subjective question coming into a thread about uni, but you could always watch gameplay for both or give them a try

Attached: phononxD.jpg (850x848, 146K)

I learned a few combos, I didn't play it that long. I was at a friend's house

As far as I'm aware, French Bread is 100% of development of the game aside from network mode which is all Arcsys.
Pretty sure Mori is their consultant too but they're still two separate companies. So much so that FB had nothing to do with Cross Tag aside from sending them a list of suggestions as to which character "best fit" their game.

Then at least you're not too used to mashing the same button for specific auto-combo moves to come out.

>miss the PC lobby
o-ok

Attached: 1556927189733.jpg (443x476, 27K)

It's only praised because it's less shitty than the other options

same here, I wanted to derust there

why don't you play each other?

Attached: 1524020822783.jpg (347x316, 10K)

Well there ya go, start up a new one.

I'll make a lobby then since there still someone around. kw: vee

is it full already dont see it

No, just 2 of us

Is there still much new blood after the evo announcement or have they all gotten gud/quit?

Anyone want to play on PS4?

If I didn't have this paper to write, I would.
Better late than never, man. Even so, yeah, there's a bunch of newbies online.

I'm bout it. I'm terrible tho

Made a room, keyword is "vee"

why the fuck are there so many enkido players on tonight

EU PC is suffering

Attached: 1449246395920.png (613x805, 826K)

tonight's goal is to win a game mashing buttons on random

i'd say this and guilty gear are pretty much the best fighting games right now.

>always wonder what it would be like to have an arcade culture here in America like JP
>forget about the state of fighting games in EU
I'm so sorry user

I'll catch you all during the next night.

Finding people is easier than i expected at certain times but it still fucking sucks

Attached: 1539638822115.png (540x675, 404K)

melk i want you to pick a secondary for me
any character

>leffens first reaction is literally "im not mad about that"
He then goes on to shit on the game
clips.twitch.tv/FriendlyGeniusLouseBCouch

What do you mean, aren't I already playing secondaries?

I mean give me any character's name and I'll learn it
it's just a lazy excuse for finding motivation to play other characters

Oh.
Well in that case Eltnum.

Quick question, are auto combos really terrible, and if so what's bad about them?

That image stings

It's super satisfying to see all of the e-celebs I don't like have this happen to them though

Yes, they are incredibly inefficient in terms of damage.
They're literally Light Medium Heavy Special and Super if you have meter, and maybe a command normal if you're lucky. This defaults to around 1.9k damage or maybe in a the low 2k range if a super is added. A basic BnB can and should do more than your auto combos.
The only real application for autocombos are for breaking reverse beat rules.

>Great beginner fighting game!
>"Easy" combo strings in tutorial are 15+ inputs long already

Post it

Please help, how do I anti-air Byakuya

hit him out of the air with your AA button

believe in your slashes

But it doesn't reach

Is it better for a noob like me to hit up ranked, go for the discord, or do the almost-nightly Yea Forums threads?

Wait for him to start falling, THEN do the anti-air. That damn slight float he gets with his moves really trip me up

Shield.
And then grab him

All three if you can manage. Go learn some BnBs, hit up ranked/discord when it's not lobby time and then hit up the lobbies when it's time. There's no one way to learn the game and it's just generally better to play as much as you can to get used to everything.

So do you think UNIST 2 will have new guest fighters?

>UNIST 2
wut. French Bread has stated they're working on at least 2 new characters for UNIST- I expect reveal to be at Evo

Guest Fighters have been off the table since UNIEL
And they already have plenty of in-universe characters to make playable now that chronicle mode is out.

I don't see how anyone who likes fighting games could ever watch EVO. The whole thing is one giant reminder that corporate cocksuckers will squeeze every last bit of life out of the things you enjoy, always.

This is going to sound like a scrubby ass thing to say, but I'm sitting at a 30% win rate- and part of me stupidly hates the idea if I keep playing it'll go down. But obviously I'll never get better if I don't play. How do I get out of the mindset about caring so much about my record?

Is there a lobby up right now? Was doing a lan party with Smash Ultimate and some SF30th on the side earlier.

There's one on PS4 at least. I think PC as well?

Because then it will never go up, either.

Usual lobbies are Sunday - Thursday at around 10 PST

That may be true but that still doesn't make the display of skill any less real, money doesn't make a player stronger even if it might be a motivator.
Fuck off from ranked and just go play in public lobbies

>not being a joke blue square with 1% winrate and winning against big boy squares
name a more cathartic feeling than being a wolf in sheeps clothing

Personally my goal is over 50%. Even when I get that the challenge is maintaining it

Cool beans. I think I'll do alittle bit of both then if I can. Thanks!

Nice lagswitch when I tried to punish Sha

Join the nightly Yea Forums lobbies, get your ass beat while slowly improving, then once you've gotten decent, try ranked again and realize that most people on there are actually pretty bad

There are Japanese arcade monsters that are way better than you that are also sitting on 30%, just be thankful you don't suffer the monetary loss that they had.

Quick image for reference, the rank 7 Vatista in arcades is sitting on 39.3%. Just keep playing bro.

Attached: r7.jpg (410x178, 28K)

It's going to be that girl who shows up in Enkidu's arcade mode, right? Who else is even alive in Chronicle Mode who could be a fighter? That guy who talks to Merkava?

Lol guess I should've warmed up before hopping in.

you know im always ready with the ownmaster 3k

You mean the people on the Yea Forums lobbies are actually better than a lot of ranked players?

Uzuki actually shows up in one of Hilda's arcade mode's extra scenes.
>guy who talks to merkava
Yes. He's got a bunch of leftover files such as arcade mode dialogue and intro blurb

Attached: LONDREKIA.jpg (1280x1280, 139K)

>don't remember shit from the tutorials
>too lazy to ever look up bnbs
>will never be confident enough to play with others

Attached: 1553369275042.jpg (1360x1344, 171K)

im outta here for now amigos, didnt expect a thread but glad i got to play
catch you guys next time

Yea Forums lobbies are generally above average and sometimes get visits from infamous offline uni players

ggs. I'm glad I can finally get a couple of wins off of you now

I like it because it's has the old-school Fate feel before the series was ruined by waifushit.

I hope he ends up being a cool dude and proves all of the Licht Kreis women wrong

GGs!

GGs PC dudes. Thanks for giving me a chance to test out my baby Mika.

Attached: 1548331902008.png (1440x808, 507K)

A lot of ranked players are awful

I got a round! WOOOOO!
And then I just get shown up by a better Orie.

GG's pc
I thought you were learning Wagner?

No worries m8. That's progress!

There's the chick that that used to hang with Ogre and Byakuya's "sister", the fags that Phonon dumped, the sixth executor that shows up in Mika's arcade ending and in one of the openings, and there is Silvaria (though that seems kinda endgame-ish)

I still am. I lost hard to a Mika in ranked yesterday and it made me want to mess around with her.

Well you have some good pressure with her already, I was scared whenever I got cornered. Good stuff

Wait, where does the pink broad with the dumb hat appear? I forget when she ended up in my gallery, but I never saw her in either arcade or chronicles.

Are you planning on maining Yuzu, Huo? Or are you still exploring who you want to main

Hilda's arcade mode sometimes ends with her. You should replay Hilda since she has dialogue will all the characters.

Wait, is her ending random or something?

Also, those multi-layered Nanase blitzkriegs are something else. How on earth do you guess which hits first?

Yeah, there's a random chance for that extra scene to play it. It's been there since uniel

Maybe? I got the pink hair girl ending first and second time I did it.

I've gotta be honest with you, I'm probably one of those dreaded waifufags. Yuzu's the one I want to play the most, but I feel bad making you guys fight the same characters over and over.
Dang, she showed up in the gallery, but I never saw her.

You're better than said dreaded waifufags until you quit. The fact that you continue to play already places you far above those who don't even dare show their faces online with her and stick to sadposting how they can't fathom playing her.

Don't worry about us fighting your same characters. It's part of training if you wanna get better at your character if they're your main.

Especially so if you wanna get used to Yuzu's gameplay.

Someone probably has it on YouTube or something. She has a pretty hot voice.

Just go set arcade mode to 1 round wins and speed though it. Hilda is super easy to use anyway so it should be a breeze.

It's kind of a good 50/50 guess that's supposed to cover both options when opponents are against the wall. At least that's how I interpret it.

>>humble grassroots community

Meltyfags are never humble, this is basically their new shiny thing.

She was voice by Eltnum's VA

A bunch of meltyfags hate unist because it isn't the new melty blood

I wonder why. Budget reasons?

Don't worry, I'm not Hippie. I don't particularly care about this kind of stuff since Yuzu is a dick pick for me as well. Also I was the same in that I thought she was too hard for me back in UNIEL and gave up on her for the short amount of time that I played that game

I'm obviously very biased in saying this, but I strongly recommend sticking with her. She's a damn good character. All it takes is getting used to stance. You might get your ass beat until then, but the more you play her the more comfortable you'll get

Most likely

I don't think I've ever played with someone who played Melty.
Yeah they gave her a sandwich and she agreed to come in for 5 min.

Since firefox addons and extensions are borked, I'm now seeing this advertisement.

What a coincidence.

Attached: 4channelads.jpg (721x88, 35K)

All Japanese* fighting games have shit netcode. Western-made fighting games are almost universally good in the netcode department, usually thanks to GGPO or a similar homemade solution.

I've just never gotten past the wall of knowing how to time things. Yuzu's 3-2 mission makes this way too apparent. Even knowing I have to stay stanced, I can't imagine teleporting while a large slash hits.
Any idea what Yuzu's best way out of a lengthy beatdown is? I just spend an hour blocking.

You don't have to actually stay in stance for that combo, though I recommend not taking the shortcut and properly holding
I'm guessing the combo is 236A > 421C > j.214B? You can buffer the 421C as you input your 236A slash. It will only come out if the 236A connects. Might make it a bit easier

>Ublock origin disabled
Anyone got a good replacement?

>Any idea what Yuzu's best way out of a lengthy beatdown is?
Don't get put in that situation to begin with. If you do, well there's your chance to learn how to defend.

Her 5A and 2A are pretty short while her other normals are pretty slow compared to most of the cast, so it's not that recommended to mash out if you can help it.

There's parry, and it's amazing, but you have to remember that it's not frame 1 invincible (I think the activation comes out on frame 4?) and it loses to lows

>Since firefox addons and extensions are borked

Huh, is there a bad update or you don't want to restart it?

Supposedly someone in charge forgot to renew some certificates and caused it all to go down.

They completely fucked all add-ons, even their own

Not a coincidence if they've been tracking you.

>try to figure out parry but fail and look it up
>it's simply 22

Of course! Also, I'm gonna learn a basic BnB and fix that reverse character match up so I can take some games.

That's the sidestep
Parry is 4B
wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Under_Night_In-Birth/UNIST/Yuzuriha

Still works on my machine since I restart firefox once every leap year. Does using an earlier version not fix it?

That's dodge and it's only doable in stance. Parry is Yuzu's 4B.

>Also, I'm gonna learn a basic BnB
Don't go overboard. You really only need a basic midscreen combo and something to follow up 236B to get started with her. 4-1 and 4-2 are perfect for this.

Here's the part where you know I'm a retard: I don't really know what exactly buffering is. Is it just inputting stuff while other things are happening?
The one I'm working on is 236B>236A>421C>214B and some spare change. I have no clue how to get 421C out at the demo's speed.

Cool, thanks. I gave up before because vanilla DS4 pad was rough on my hands for the motions but I think with fighting commander I might be able to get it down.

Damn, this other guy's learning Yuzu and has the same hand pains. Get outta my head man!

Attached: Story-yu06.png (1600x1800, 726K)

>Is it just inputting stuff while other things are happening?
That's exactly what it is. Just input 236A > 421C immediately after

I know what ya mean. It can be tough getting used to the holding and letting go of buttons while also doing multiple inputs on dpad if you're not used to it!

I always get worried when there're two of us on the same train of thought. What if someone's impersonating me?! It's the only downside of anonymous posting.

That first round was hilarious Elt-man. I'll file that in "things I'll be mad about 10 years from now."

One of the harder parts of learning Yuzu: how to beat a guy that downbacks

They'll get impatient

So does the Yuzu player generally

I think I was getting somewhere, even if I didn't have a clue what I was doing in that one. I may yet be able to get a mediocre Yuzu yet if I keep at it.

Don't get impatient then

As the other Yuzu-in-training, ganbare, user.

>you can TK the 236 slashes for trickier
Neat. DIdn't know that. Is it useful or not worth practicing?
