The records on every server I played on were usually 7-8 days played, and it was always by hunters who got banned the next day when blizzard found out IPs from all over the globe were signing into it, taking shifts to level it up fast. If the fastest class in the game being played by a group of speedrunning poopsockers couldn't do it, a pair of people splitting XP in a group and having to grind double quest drops sure as hell won't.

Man I play a lock. And my Pally was always ret. I don't tank. I did however raid in Vanilla and we never used a drood tank in progression. It was always Aces in Their Places. That meant no bears and no oomkin. Heals yes but never a tank. Just fact you can not compete with a warrior of same equip and skill level. You would be out tanked 10/10.

I never said I was going for World Record. Under 5-7 days played is more than doable. If Joana got 4 days all the way back in Vanilla, I'm inclined to believe that 3 day runs are possible now that the game has been out for 12+ years to theorycraft. I'm not sure about Nost, but I know that Light's Hope has relatively accurate experience rates. I'm just practicing speed leveling until classic comes out. Already pretty comfortable zooming through 1-20 in 9-10 hours.

So I'll say the time to beat when classic drops will be 4 days, because like I said earlier, I think Joana's original time is going to be surpassed. That being said, I guess I'll be more aiming to hit 60 before the first 10 days have passed, rather than the first week.

As far as RMT goes Scarab Lord is worth the most. Rank 14 is worth 1/3rd of a scarab lord, and as a scarab lord do you get the admiration and support of the guild that got it for you? If so that's the Chad option right there.

24 hour headstart COULD mean you could infinitely control the AH though which is really powerful but you'd be nolifing the AH round the clock for months. Not worth it.

They have more hp and armor, but can taje crits and crushes. Also worse at holding AoE threat with no threat booster sapper charges and grenades. No good defensive cooldowns so enrage phases or massive speed AoE pulls are much more lethal. No fear break means they need fear ward for certain fights.

However their single target threat is supreme, and does not require wearing gimped mitigation gear. They also start strong and reach armor cap early and don't steal gear. Overall they're worse for progression, but better for farmed content for higher raid DPS cap. In addition their threat and rage generation is still great without being targeted, so they can keep 2nd threat on untauntable bosses so when the MT dies you start tanking instead of the melee being the next 10 on threat.

Honestly not really and even then they are niche on some fights and require a lot of gear to make work. They won't be tanking BWL or MC near the start of the game for one. Also no one will take you seriously if you try pull this stunt so don't even bother considering it

If you are pushing content they are pretty garbage. They might be fine when it's on farm status but at that point no one really cares since everyone outgears the content. You wont be accepted as a tank in the bulk majority of guilds in otherwords

The entire point of classic is to boost numbers - period. They won't differentiate between retail and classic players, and they don't need to because shareholders don't give a fuck about the specifics. They'll see an increase in "World of Warcraft" players which is all they care about. Nu-Blizzard doesn't give a fuck about what the players do or what they want. If classic doesn't pan out it just gives them more time to plan their next scheme to raise numbers, if it does pan out they spend less money and time developing BFA since classic runs itself.

Grace of Air+Flametongue is objectively superior.

Grinding in secluded areas as rogue (back of caves, etc.) is safer, exp / hr is STABLE. When you're running around the world turning in quests you're getting zero. A quest reward is the equivalent to killing 10-30 mobs depending on quest difficulty. Grinding is better financially as well. Rogues double dip due to pickpocketing mobs before they kill them. Rogues are top single target DPS and can wipe out entire camps of enemies, especially with bleed kiting.

Watching his streams he wasted an hour turning in quests cause it wanted him to go to Booty Bay for Warsong axe shipment, got feared off a boat by a warlock cause he just HAD to pick fights on the boat. (He did kill two though, amusingly enough.) and had to swim back to Ratchet from orc starting zone, got killed by a 60 hunter, so he missed five boat cycles all in all before doing it. He tried dungeoning, ended up with a warlock that was doing 5% dps despite outleveling the dungeon by four levels and had all the best BoE blues for his level. (The healer literally out DPS'd him.) with tard tanks and snoozing heals as well. I think BFD took over 2 and a half hours.

If he was just constantly grinding that entire time he'd have gotten way ahead, even with gold and drops.

His 1-40 grind wasn't streamed but in the image you can see he had so much moolah that he was burning it power leveling trade skills and still had tons left over at 40. Mount + 40g spillover.

There's not a lot of classes that are good at pvp/easy to gear and easy to play.
Paladin is really all there is.

Shadow is however easy to gear and play, I played one on nost and it was really fun you don't need much gear just some dungeon gear and crafted blues will let you roll over t2 geared players 1v1. Group pvp though, you're useless as fuck and go oom after one maybe two kills.

Hunters are somewhat easy to play and very very easy to get enough gear for PvP but they have a decently high skill ceiling. But if you can click on viper sting everyone will think you're an amazing player in group PvP.

Warlocks are easy to gear but you'll have an awful time til you have enough stamina to survive rogues, and most other classes will roll over you if you're not half decent at the class.

Mages are really easy to get into and play but they have a decent skill ceiling for 1v1s, they're also a pain in the ass to gear.

Shamans are easy to play and easy to gear but Ele doesn't shine until t2.5 and enh is one of the biggest memes in vanilla.

Warrior is easy to play if you have a priest heal bot but also hard to gear since 1/4th of the server will be warriors.

Druids are very easy to gear but have a very high skill cap.

I'm more interested in having a group partner for 1-10 or 1-20. I was comparing my times to two friends who were practicing duo times, and duos really do have the advantage in 1-10. They move through the questing hubs much quicker, which creates space.

Seeing as they're hybrid classes they're out performed by any other pure class at their chosen role.

Their main drawback is that they can't get defense capped, which is a really dangerous RNG element being introduced to raids. They start off weaker, but will ultimately outscale warrior tanks in other areas.

Cat has bad gear options til AQ, because shapeshift forms don't use weapon damage, only raw stats. It will never be top DPS even then, but becomes much better. They, along with bears, can also give a crit buff to your party.

I've always heard balance has mana issues holding it back, but even if it didn't, it would have threat issues instead. Boomkin gives a spell crit buff to the party. You will be mostly limited to starfall spam, because moonfire chews up a precious debuff slot, and wrath deals nature damage (which can't benefit from warlock curses). Nature damage really sucks in vanilla.

Healers are kinda iffy. Their HoTs don't stack with other druids, which limits the number of dedicated druid healers you can make full use of.

If you want to do something other than heal ever the choice is basically Druid. The 0/30/21 point build gets most of what Healing Touch spam Restos need other than 10% healing, but in exchange you're getting 20% more int from Heart of the Wild, and have most of the core tanking talents other than 10% damage from Balance.

We brought one along for raids on Lightshope and they were ok. If you use consumes like mana potions and runes you will be fine on 99% of fights early on. Its when you get to shit like AQ/NAXX that you mana issues really start to show since fights last longer during progression. I wouldnt say its uncommon to take 1 though.

I'm in the same boat to be honest, so I play Shaman to hybrid it up.

Since there are too many guides and people have been practicing on ILLEGAL private server, they're going to level too fast and ruin the true vanilla experience.
In order to keep things accurate and keep the rat race autists from tainting the server, xp/day should be hardcapped so it takes at least two months to level on launch.

Also depending on the guild you will have to wait in the back of the line for anathema so the healing priest can get their benediction. Just be cool about it and dont try to take other classes weapons. You get a neat epic for doing a healing mini game while other classes have to wait a while for a good drop. (Chest always drops leaf or eye) If your guild is cool they will help you.

Weapon DPS doesn't matter for feral forms. They added feral ATP items in later patches. Pummeler still does way more DPS than Atiesh.

lmao @ people thinking the game is "solved". the fact that stuff is common knowledge and we have a lot of online resources does not translate to people being able to execute correctly and do what they need to to clear content.

In wotlk there were 1000 different youtube guides on how to clear every boss in ICC, there were the easiest catchup mechanics in wows history to be prepared to do the content, and heroic 25 LK was the only really hard fight in that raid, yet 99% of pugs wouldn't get past the first 4 bosses and like 90%+ of guilds didnt clear heroic lich king. on a given server, each faction would have 1, 2, or even 3 guilds if you were really lucky that would be deep into heroic ICC, and a handful of guilds that be slightly better than most pugs.

Now try getting another 15 people on board good enough to clear AQ40 and Naxx. It's laughable that people actually think endgame vanilla content is going to be a cakewalk for the community. A lot of people will clear MC, a good amount will clear BWL, ZG, and AQ20, but I seriously doubt each server is going to have a lot of people clearing AQ40 and Naxx.

They can twist, which isnt as common as the tryhard guilds make it sound but it does happen - often if they're using a melee shaman. Which i think sucks but if they're doing it right it's not so terrible for overall raid performance.
But you'd typically twist wf and agil, but yeah like the other user said you can sub tranq in as necessary. That's already higher IQ required than most memehancement are going to bring to the process so i'd be wary, and resto can twist as well (and could swing nf too if we're really meme'ing it up) but its a lot more obnoxious in my gay opinion. I'm sure some sweaty pserver tryhard would disagree and they may not even be wrong.
Either way i definitely wouldnt put a 2nd shaman in the group, you want to spread the totems around. I guess if you absolutely had to the world wont end but it wouldn't be ideal.

Ice block doesn't dump aggro. It just makes them ignore you temporarily until it wears off. Same as invulnerability potions. They're an emergency button to buy you a couple seconds.

those dates are tentative based on how they feel about the beta, and are influenced by retail wows content release. they dont want to release too close to patch 8.2 cause its a huge content patch for retail, but shit could get pushed even to september if there are unexpected problems with the beta. i dont work on the wow team, i work on hots, but a lot of the hots team worked on OG wow and so i stay updated in the internal conversation cause they're all pretty excited to play classic.

if old school runescape is any indication at all, the game will stay popular for a long time. people like to point to all the content updates with old school runescape but the vast majority of their active playerbase don't even do most of that "endgame" content but they still play cause they love the game.

wow is way bigger, has had way more players, and has bigger reach so i wouldnt be shocked to see it last a long time. the biggest concern honestly is how loud the minmax autists become once they hit max and burn through all of the endgame content. they'll inevitably get bored much quicker than the other 99% of the playerbase so hopefully they arent so loud and annoying with their complaints that it ruins it for the rest of us.

Classic needs to have two different queues for Alterac Valley. One that leads to the streamlined npc and quests removed 1.12 version, and one that leads to the 24hr+ AV Original.
Make the OG AV give rewards that scale linearly with the time invested, and reward players for participation even if they left before the end.

If they do, probably in the last phase.

Sure we'll see a dip, because obviously the highest sub count will be at release. Everyone knows that, you're retarded if you think otherwise. But due to them already having this much content planned out to look forward to, I doubt it'll be anywhere near as steep as OSRS. OSRS was originally released without much promise as to how much or what kind of content was going to be released and that was a big factor as to why people didn't stick around for long, but have since started to come back again.

If they do, it better be quarantined to its own servers. It was the start of the Quality of Lifening, and it raped the lore as well.
It wasn't ALL bad, a lot of positive things happened as well. But really there was just so much that I think did irreparable damage. Arenas were the worst from a gameplay perspective. Suddenly PvP needed to be E-Sport balanced. So that meant adding sham/pally to both sides, adding things like divine shield counters, giving out mortal strike effects to more classes, nerfing CC down to 5 seconds max no matter what, making a hard separation between PvE and PvP gear with resilience. And it just kept going until all the fun and unique things classes could do were things either everyone could do, or nobody could do.

weapon buff totems give their effects for 10s even if the totems die, so drop wf totem then goa and your group has both buffs for the remaining 8s. use that window to refresh other totems, heal or interrupt or purge or just auto and regen mana.

I tried testing some stuff on a private server and holy shit there are fucking bugs everywhere. Pathing is fucked on several fronts, quests are bugged, who knows what shit is bugged under the hood.

The races they brought in w/ the xpac (BE, Draenei) were already existing races within warcraft lore who's stories were retconned for BC content, most people think these retcons were unnecessary and also poorly handled.

If true it'd mean 5 skill gives an effective +0.2% hit/crit/anti dodge/anti parry against bosses, and takes glancing from 40% to deal 70% damage with no crits to 40% to deal 85% with no crits. If crit didn't exist that'd be a 6% DPS boost to white DPS, but depending on crit it is a smaller proportional DPS boost likely ranging from 2-3% in practice, more with really shit crit.

tl;dr The 5 skill races will likely do 2-3% more white hit DPS, okay for rogues, better for warriors.

Shaman because they are fun to play as and level as. Can be pretty squirmy in PvP and blow people up as ench or ele. Like druid their wolf form isn't a mount and benefits from PvP set + defilers.

Pally leveling sucks bad and pally raiding is even worse gameplay wise. Pally PvP also sucks in comparison.

Shaman multi heal good.
Paladin single heal good.
Both buff good.
Both have meme off specs.
Both get around the same number of slots in a raid.

If you pick one you won't need to deal with the strengths of the other competing with you. The only difference your friends might notice is that shaman enable 2h melee better with windfury. Performance is too close, pick what looks fun, or whatever faction you want.

I should have said I've played both, retail vanilla as a shaman (but didn't raid a lot, mc/zg pugs, mostly pvp) and i've played paladin on a private server.
What you're saying is about what I'm thinking, tho i did enjoy paladin pvp just as much as shaman. It was fun being virtually unkillable in an organized setting, and paired especially well with engineering tricks to make up for traits i didn't have. I also had peelers as well tho so that made it a lot easier at times.
I'll give it some more thought, it sucks since i like them both.

Yes. Vanilla and TBC go hand-in-hand. They're both good.

The tankiest healer for PvP is Druid, as in all expansions. HoTing yourself, then going into bear form is even more disgusting here as armor cap is not too far away, so an armor/healing hybrid spec is retarded good, innervate helps you do it all even when using expensive HoTs and shapeshifting.

But Druids get like 2 slots in raids, and Shamans get like 5-6.

Compared to Overwatch you have much less personal input for PvE raid encounters. Some specs just don't bring the throughput others do, and the guild slots, and raid invites reflect that. An adderall filled Hunter can only do so much to eek out more DPS compared to a sleep deprived Mage pressing one button.

In my brief time messing around with a private server, the number of Warriors who were willing to tank while leveling up were next to none, and I feel like that's going to be greatly amplified with Classic and the tourists playing the class because they heard it was top dog.

I'm on the fence about finding a guild prior to launch. On one hand, it would make a lot of sense to establish myself with a group of people beforehand. But I've heard many tales of groups thrown together with little to not vetting prior to a launch not working out in the end, and that sort of makes me want to leave open the possibility of finding something organically in-game rather than take a gamble on people I haven't at least seen play a little bit.

And it's easier for people like that to commit to an idea now than actually show up and play later.

The only way to ensure you aren't playing with total retards is to have some RL friends who are coming in with you. If you don't have any RL friends playing with you at launch, fuck any of that pre-release guild shit, just jump on a server and go the organic friend/guild discovery route. Half of those pre-release guilds will either straight up not happen or they'll end up barely doing 1/10th of all the shit they claim they're going to achieve.

The real kicker here. I've experienced this myself with other games, from groups made both inside and outside of Yea Forums. Guaranteed most of the people who sign up won't even show up to begin with.

If presented with two strangers, and the only difference is class/spec you take the optimal one. Anything else is either for the sake of pity, or novelty, and most 40 mans don't care about either. Nobody wants to slow down their personal ascension for the sake of a random ret pally that could just as easily be a random fury warrior.

Sucks for the person it affects, but to expect everyone else to be personally invested in your uniqueness is just as sad as any meta observance. You can dislike what the end result of the system does, but the individual choices are not really criticizable.

either is fine, you'll get conflicting opinions on which is "better" and the playstyle is pretty similar.
For pure leveling efficiency, putting your spare points in elemental is stronger after you fill out your enhance tree. It may be a good idea to go ahead and get stormstrike even tho it's a mana sink at those levels. It will be helpful for pvp and even if you went resto for NS, NS isn't a leveling talent in that you wont get it until 60 typically anyhow so who gives a shit.
But related to that, if you plan on healing dungeons while leveling or when gearing up at 60, which you should since as a class that CAN heal you'll have an easier route that way, then putting the pts in resto after you go enhance would be better. If it matters, i'd go for heal cost reduction over the reduced cast time, but that is up to you.
Since those minimal resto pts dont matter that much for leveling dungeons, I usually put more enhance pts in than normal. I really like the reduced grounding totem cd, really like improved lightning shield (most mana efficient damage you can do), also really dig improved fire totems in ele since searing is cheap as hell to drop all the time.

Anyways, either is fine. It's up to you and waht you want to be a little better at. If you're on a pvp or pve server, if you're going to be healing in dungeons, what your eventual plans are at 60, etc. As long as you frontload your casting as best you're able and aren't dropping buff totems unless you get the max duration, you can level effectively as a shaman in any spec.

Warrior look cooler, but suck ass to level, top 3 dps end game, arguably the best. SUPER reliant on gear tho. Can tank with dual wielding, but 90% seem to be too dumbfuck to it right and just act like a whiny dps

Because it's in phase 1. Wowhead's added in patch data is wrong. It says added in patch 1.11 for everything that came before that, because wowhead wasn't a thing until around patch 1.11. So all the stuff in the game before that were just thrown in that category.
