This is one of my gripes with the equipment in BG2: No attempt was made to balance classes, open up for interesting character concepts or even make it consistent with the game world.

balance is boring. PoE tried to be balanced with it 4 SAM LEATHER BELT equipment and it's got no memorable items to speak of.

Balance is more about even numbers, it's about letting EVERY class, and kit, enjoy its full potential. And that requires polished game design, something that both PoE and BG2 lacks in places.

BG has stupidly overpowered items but it has stupidly overpowered foes to match them. if the diffuculty is not to your liking instal scs/tactcs/ascension to tear you a new asshole. its the perfect system.

you get barbarian rage which gives you +4 strength and +4 con, that's better than 5 pips, plus you get all the berserk resistances to spells,except Imprisonment I think
