What will come out first, Bannerlord, the next major Dwarf Fortress update, or The Winds of Winter?
What will come out first, Bannerlord, the next major Dwarf Fortress update, or The Winds of Winter?
Bannerlord unironically
We know the next DF update isn't coming until the end of the year at least.
Dwarf fortress. The real question is if Toady will become a lazy nigger like GRRM or the roaches, because of all the gibs he will receive
Star Citizen will still be in alpha when all those are released.
Is that the one with trannies?
It's the steam update
Awesome, so I can finally fap to hairy dwarven she-cocks.
You can already do that through the power of modding
DF received major releases in November 2017, May 2016, December 2015...
So it feels we're almost due for a major release. Bannerlord still doesn't have a release date.
>new dwarf update
>adds unkillable tranny dwarfs and if you disrespect their pronouns you get reported for hate crime and get arrested
sounds great
I'll build a lava pit just for them.
Bannerlord will be playable at Gamescom.
>not using them as demon/forgotten beast/titan bait
You're supposed to chain em up next to a statue on a grate so when you dump magma on the statue they get splattered with magma mist and slowly melt.
Not sure why so many people are so pissed off at trans dwarves being introduced. If you like them, good for you, but if you hate them, it's one of the only games where you can genocide trans people.
It's a win-win situation.
Half-Life 3
If you kill your useless dorfs, does the entire settlement get a mood penalty like Rimworld, or is it more granular based on relationships?
Dwarves with a relationship to that dwarf (especially wife/husband) can get pretty upset when that dwarf dies, but for the most part, other dwarves care, but not much. I'm only an intermediate player of DF so I don't really know the specifics of the mechanics.
Players have been killing useless dorfs, aka nobles, since the beginning. Outside of a couple of unhappy thoughts, there has been no issues.
It's by relationships. No one gives a shit if you drown a migrant wave, for example
Terraria 1.3.6
Alright, swell. Reckon I'll wait for the steam release then for a pussy casual landing into the game.
there's literally 0 reason for the agot books to continue now that the show resolved everything
True. But there has been exceptions where tantrum spirals have been started over dead pets/dwarves. This hopefully won't be an issue in the steam release, but the way how memory mechanics are tells me otherwise...
the villainy and corruption update for dorf could drop any minute. should have specifically mentioned the "Big Wait" which is after this major update and will likely take multiple years while toady finally implements the magic system
A single death has rarely amounted to a tantrum spiral. It might be the trigger, but not the only cause.
Half Life 3
the next berserk chapter
I agree. I haven't had anything like that from deaths, but I feel the memory mechanics could cause things like death to become more of a problem
user, it came out last week.
I don't have autism, is there a df version with graphix?
He has been lazy nigger for years
All the changes he makes are pointless garbage because he has a community of brainless yes-men who will praise any turd that leaves his anus.
based and redpilled
This. Don't expect another chapter for another 4 months, at least. I know that most popular mangaka have a really unhealthy work life, but Miura's just sitting around playing Idolm@ster all day
>new asoiaf book
>ever coming out
kek
>What are trans dwarves
This was in old versions which had one morale stat.
New versions have a clusterfuck of pointless complexity in its place. Toady sure as fuck doesn't have a solid grasp of it, so nerfed the values low enough that death tantrum spirals are rare nowadays.
Instead you get semi-guaranteed mini-tantrums if you don't meet some arbitrary requirement, like having tavern, mugs or something stupid like that. For example, when one dorf gets stressed by lack of mugs and de-stressed by nothing you have, he'll keep accumulating stress until you get the stupid mugs.
except that the show is fan fiction that exists in a separate canon from the book series.
A waste of dev time
Next dorf fort version.
It'll be somewhere between June and probably September.
Bannerlord will be at the end of the year if not later.
No idea what the third one was until I checked your pic. Don't care about that.
Exactly, and almost everyone hates it, fans included
He didn't actually implement those.
There are gay dwarves, which are similarly pointless considering that breeding is not an important game mechanic in DF and the sexes are nearly identical otherwise.
>Bannerlord will be at the end of the year if not later.
This is highly optimistic. Maybe the closed alpha will be out by then unlesss mountain blade turkroaches announced something that I'm not aware of.
>It'll be somewhere between June and probably September.
How long for bugfixes to make the update playable?
Not only gay but polyssexual. We currently have bissexual horses.
Depends on the bugs.
>similarly pointless considering that breeding is not an important game mechanic in DF
>unironically not playing a low-migration, long lived fortress where most of your population are the descendents of the founders
Disgusting, pedestrian behavior. I bet you haven't even been playing since before 40d.
Bannerlord>Dorf>WoW
will the next df have mouse support?
will it have mod support so normal people can balance it and make it fun??
>playing long lived forts
What's the point?
Do you really think the current version playable? There hasn't been a highly stable version since .34. That was the last time DF felt like a complete game and not a bloated mess of half-baked features.
taleworlds already confirmed that there's gonna be a playable multiplayer demo at gamescom this year and also talked about the closed beta, so at the very least we are getting to play the game one way or another before this year ends
>closed beta
How the fuck do i get access
I was thinking that since they announced the closed beta it'll take place in the summer. Then the earliest possible date for the open beta aka early access could be end of the year.
It's fun? Once goblins aren't really a challenge anymore, playing long forts and exploring all the game's mechanics and industries becomes the main thing you do.
Honestly, it's better that it is this way than if he spent more time to restrict sexualities to only some creatures, like sentient ones or whatever.
Reminds me of Caves of Qud, which has a gender pronoun class, set up specifically to allow generically making many of those.
One of the ones actually used is "xe".
>descendants
I'm not on the spectrum, at least not that spectrum.
I started playing not long ago first z-level version and preventing migration was a hassle in most versions I played.
I did have some super-grower native-born dorfs, but never had teh tism to play long enough to see dorfs dropping from old age.
Winds of Winter is never coming out so
>mouse support
No, that'll be the Steam/itch version which will have more mouse support than the current version whose mouse support is barebones. That's still ways off.
>mod support
What? DF has been moddable since a long time.
>but never had teh tism to play long enough to see dorfs dropping from old age.
That would take ages. Having most of your dwarves being the descendents of your original batch only takes a bit over 12 in game years. You can stop immigration in the init files and also unlock FPS. Low-population forts can easily run on 300+FPS making 12 years go by really fast.
>You can stop immigration in the init files and also unlock FPS.
You couldn't do that ~gorillion versions ago. You either had to limit dorf population - including the breeders - or not limit it and manually "sink the boats".
Yeah, but you can do that now. Since FPS death is now completely inevitable I have more fun lowering pop cap and unlocking FPS.
tWoW is already written.
>FPS death is now completely inevitable
What did the fucking hack fuck up again?
It's like every version gets more garbage piled up on top of it, with useless gimmicks consuming disproportionate portion of CPU time.
Despite being 2% of meaningful gameplay, moronic realtism "features" commit 90% of FPS drop
At this point I'm not sure if cataclysm DDA is still the best example of retard devs.
There was a bug a few years ago where dwarves eyelashes didn't stop growing so the game had to keep track of gigantic hair growing out of every creature's eyes and it hurt FPS somehow. Most of the buggy features are something you can't even notice or report without special tools. Toady has mental problems.
>Toady has mental problems.
No need for that, incompetence explains it adequately.
>lazy nigger
>made dwarf fortress
May I ask what you've done?
l2read, I said he has been lazy for years, not forever
He did add some non-shit stuff early on, it's just that he no longer does any of that. Minecarts were probably the last meaningful addition.
I actually did contribute to vidya somewhat. I regret it now because I didn't get much from it and the people who do get the credit didn't deserve my help.
> Minecarts were probably the last meaningful addition.
Nah, Temples taverns and libraries, being able to send your troops to raid outsied sites, and even beekeeping are all interesting additions. It's just annoying that he doesn't focus on domestic DF mechanics anymore and does stuff that mostly add to legends mode or adventure.
He's been talking about reviving the old economy for years and revising the workshop system but never does it because of muh worldbuilding, and in the end he doesn't even do the most interesting thing in world building by implementing boats. The main problem with the last five or so years is that having units moving around in the overworld took too much time and added very little to the game that playes can actually interact with.
Might as well ask here: what's the recommended setting for world generation in Dwarf Fortress that's actual meaningful?
>Winds of Winter
>released
GRRM doesn't care, he's just going sit on his fat royalty checks and never write anything again because fuck you
Unless you're autistic enough to try custom settings:
1. mineral quantity will make the game easier
2. Size and a long history will make the game laggier.
3. That's it.
If you want a more interesting world make sure to generate one where there are no dwarven civs left so you can roleplay as someone trying to revive the dwarven civ.
>Nah, Temples taverns and libraries, being able to send your troops to raid outsied sites, and even beekeeping are all interesting additions.
Not really
They are just gimmicks. You set them up and then they sit there and mostly just are.
The only thing that taverns really change is that if you don't set one up, dorfs will get mad and start tantruming eventually.
Beekeeping is just a more expensive, less efficient way of getting some products.
Last time I checked, libraries didn't do anything worth noting.
I didn't see what temples do, but it's safe to extrapolate from the rest.
With boats, there is a possibility that they will be used for trading. But if they aren't used for trading or don't haul a ton of shit, the whole idea will be pointless.
That's how Toady works: he adds gimmicks without thinking how - of if - they add anything to the game.
Temples are almost the exact same as taverns, they just satisfy a different need for dorfs.
>hey are just gimmicks. You set them up and then they sit there and mostly just are.
I'll have to disagree with you there. Taverns are fairly interesting, in the way dwarves interact with them by playing instruments and dancing. Libraries are also fairly fleshed out and it's cool to see what people attempt to write. It's all interesting simulation shit that is what DF is all about. If Toady made all buildings as interactive as Taverns the game would be much better. He kind of implied that workshops would function simmilarly in the future in the way they are set up and dwarves interact with them. Once priests are added maybe temples will be interesting too.
be a mount and blade youtuber with a lot of suscribers
this but ironically
