I think BW's a bit more difficult than vanilla SC, especially the final few missions as Zerg.

I think it's because mutas are no longer the key unit for zerg like they once were. Terrans are too good at dealing with them, the turret timings are so tight and it's too easy to lock them out.
Eh, I wouldn't call Shine or Miso super strong opponents, i don't think either of them excel vs terran. He's definitely improving though.

I guess I'll power through those first few missions but I wish it had difficulty modes

honestly i think it would just make broodling too strong. Reavers are probably the most valuable single unit in the game, if you take scarabs into consideration. If you could instantly pop them straight away, protoss just wouldn't use them past early game.
