This is a thread about gameplay but more importantly.......
DMC2 has to be one of the most overlooked gems period, I have never played such a game that has atmosphere and characters quite like this one. Dante looks like a real demon in it too and he is very badass and I feel like this voice suits him way more. Lucia is perfect every scene she's in and her and Dante are fun to play around with. The PS2 graphics make this game look timeless instead of aged. I didn't feel it was too boring or too much for me at any given time.
Why the fuck would he when most opinions are right? I played it because i thought people were memeing and it wasn't that bad and surprise, surprise. It was fucking dog shit like everyone said it was.
TFW not only Mundus has to be fought as a very tall demon but also in his second form he takes on a huge dragon and you gotta dodge his every attack as you fly around and stuff.
I feel like the tall burly demon should be his 3rd form, the demon dragon as his 2nd and a demonic knight guy as his first form similar to how Urizen looks but way different and in knight armor.
You'll probably find more people here who played it just to see how bad it really was than people only saying it. And they're right, I've played it too and it sucks dick. I've got a friend who got DMC1 on release, loved it and bought DMC2 and never came back because of how bad the game was. This game's legacy was making people miss out on playing DMC3.
Nathaniel Lee
What will Nero's kid be like later on if he has one?
Nathaniel Hughes
I honestly don't know what OP finds so good about DMC2 but it was bad compared to DMC1 and underwhelming compared to DMC3.
>REmake dmc1 >instead of giving new weapons, give alot of new movesets to FE, Alastor, Sparda and Ifrit >make Sparda have individual and selectable forms
Hudson Sullivan
DMC2 has wolves
Brandon Lewis
JC the boss LMAO.
Brody Stewart
Yeah but... These stand up unlike regular rolves
Jordan Nelson
yea now that i know that you can JC cheese him to death it's an absolute cakewalk my first time fighting him though took about 3 or 4 attempts
Angel Rodriguez
I was trying so hard to put a hat on him and take a pic, worth it.
Jaxon Carter
I want art of sin dt Dante with really buff muscles.
>DMC2 has to be one of the most overlooked gems period, I have never played such a game that has atmosphere and characters quite like this one. I think it's just seen as the odd one out simply from how different it is to any of the other games, I have the same feeling about this game to other DMC games as I do with SH4 and the three games that came before it, it has traits of the previous game but feels like it's a game from a completely different series. You don't gain weapons that have specific elemental bonusses and instead use gems to give them fire/frost/lightning + flying/speed + HP regen/extra damage Also there's only swords which is a shame since it just limits the variety in weapons and the bosses are faily uninteresting since you only meet them once instead of getting harder versions to fight as the game goes on. Thank god DMC3 saved the series by doing it right.
Aaron Jackson
I did forget to mention that the near death devil trigger thing was a nice addition though, it's just a shame that it's rarely if ever used.
Benjamin Carter
>Also there's only swords which is a shame since it just limits the variety in weapons What are you talking about? DMC2 introduced instant weapon switching to the series with guns only. It's also more different because it wasn't originally going to be a DMC game, but by the time Itsuno got involved they'd only implemented a really bad stinger.
>What are you talking about? DMC2 introduced instant weapon switching to the series with guns only I completely forgot about this actually, they did implement it in this game, you're right.
>It's also more different because it wasn't originally going to be a DMC game, but by the time Itsuno got involved they'd only implemented a really bad stinger. That kind of explains why it feels so different from the other games, it's a shame they couldn't just let it be it's own game instead of forcing it into a DMC game.
Evan Torres
It's just that nero is more chad, he gon become the Donte of dmc5, new king of the sfms
Jaxson Adams
I did, it bored me to fucking death.
Justin Lopez
let me guess, this is a bait or the only DMC game you have played is 2
Eli Brown
I did and it sucked.
Nolan Cooper
>The PS2 graphics make this game look timeless instead of aged. The most zoomer thing anyone has ever said.
>I have never played such a game that has atmosphere and characters Atmosphere, yes, it's probably my favorite DMC for that, characters, I don't know. >I feel like this voice suits him way more. Were it not for those pussified YAH and HUMPH coming from DMC1's manly DAH, I'd agree with you. >The PS2 graphics make this game look timeless instead of aged. Depends, the ruins don't look all that good, especially now, they look like generic Tomb Raider 2 levels outside of a few rooms, the cities, the lab, and Ouroboros building look very good though, much better than Temen Niggeroo's bland environments or DMC5's mess outside of Redgrave >I didn't feel it was too boring or too much for me at any given time I'm one of the few people who do not blindly shitpost about this game, but DMC2 only becomes fun on Hard and above, and some missions still feel like busywork, especially the earlier ones, it does get better once you're past Jokatgulm though, some boss battles were also pretty good, Oranguerra is very neat for instance despite being a early game boss, Plutonian's laser room is fun too, Noctpteran, Nefasturris, Bolverk and Trismagia are all fun bosses too. BP is also nerve wracking in this game and unfortunately requires a lot of grinding to complete because there's tons of cheapass floor where avoiding damage is impossible given how Dante is not a broken killing machine yet.
Luke Rivera
Glad to see another man of culture. Game had it's problems but it had stuff going for it. That translated even better to 3
>Donte >cute and think that faggots couldn't be more retarded
Hunter Sullivan
Donte is the best looking one in the group, those weebs are jelly.
Dylan Richardson
Yeah, it's actually very interesting to see how Itsuno worked on all the stuff he introduced in DMC2. If only he had some more time DMC2 could have been REALLY good, but it's no use thinking on what ifs, especially not after almost 20 years, it still has many things I like either way and for some things like atmosphere, ost or Dante's design it's still the best in the series for me. It's also the only game in the series where Dante's not strictly on family business matters and he's just there as the devil hunter and not the son of sparda, I quite like that.
Instead of changing everything they could have just recycled the DMC1 combat system and had more time to design enemies, boss movesets, and possibly just add more moves to each weapon.
Jason Williams
Is Lucia's story any better than Dante's? Because Dante's was extremely boring
Hunter Cooper
DMC 2 was made in 4 months, and thanks to Itsuno coming in, the game managed to get shipped at least. (lot's of rumors, that they simply took a whole different game, and turned it in DMC 2, only for the original director to spend 1 year doing jackshit, until Itsuno replaced him. The only move they had was Stinger, and that's the worst Stinger game wise)) I'm sure if Capcom gave Itsuno a full year, DMC 2 would've been decent. It introduced many mechanics that were properly refined in 3, and the DT amulet customization was pretty interesting, too bad they didn't touched that again later in the series. Also 2 got Dante's best outfit. But shit, Capcom had autistic moments even in the 2000's, even dmc 4 got affected because of deadlines(Dante's levels and bosses). Itsuno gave us dmc 3 due to 2's fuck up by Capcom, so good things can still rise from bad times.
Lincoln Kelly
>Also 2 got Dante's best outfit 2 outfit is pretty bad
No, he's better, thiccer too, I just replayed DmC and I guess the sfm creators buffed Donte up because he's as twinky as V is in the actual game holy shit lmao
the realistic faces remind them of their realistic shitty lives
James Rodriguez
sekiro is very successful there, and it's artstyle is even more realistic than dmc5's
RE2 is also selling well in Japan. It's clearly not about the realistic faces
Jacob Stewart
because it's not gacha japs only care about gacha
Levi Cruz
no reversals no inertia
Henry Perry
For me Lucia was slightly more enjoyable to play as because she doesn't have a point of comparison to better games (unlike Dante), and feels slightly faster, but it's still DMC2. It's still braindead, repetitive, and unsatisfying. She also has swimming sections. In terms of story it's just as boring, Lucia is an okay character conceptually but the execution is very lackluster.
Jack Green
>sekiro >weaboo: the game >re >capcom cashcow
Parker Parker
no one evevn knew these existed or care about those
Ryan Bennett
what is your point?
dmc5 was also successful in Japan previously, yet 5 sold less then dmc4 did, despite 5 being an all around better game
monhun world is also the best selling monhun game in japan despite the new realistic artstyle, so this style clearly doesn't affect the sales that drastically
Brayden Howard
*5 sold over 2 times less than 4 did in it's first month just pointing that out because it's a big difference
Samuel Butler
from my experience, trickster with D-Sword Dante seems to work well against him
Isaiah Turner
dmc is a niche game even in the west, it's no different in japan. also it sold less because of DmC effect, like DMC3 selling less because of the DMC2 effect
Kayden Cook
>dmc is a niche game even in the west, >Multimillion seller >Niche The only niche thing in here is your brain
Do you have a point? Sekiro launched worse than Bloodbourne and DS3, still outsold Bloodborne in the end. There's literally no way DMC5 does not top DMC4 3 million, you're crazy if you think it wont, assuming it hasen't already.
Adrian Cox
are you actually retarded or just a fujo
Carter Torres
And yet most of the asian artist are using the new models instead of the old. They're already cosplaying Nuro and not twink nero.
Dylan Cruz
>tfw I cant just NOT use every weapon at once with Dante >the carpal tunnel starts to set in
Because Japanese sales aren't what they used to be back in the PS2 days, westerners BTFO the japs in just about everything and every game that's not handheld.
Jack Howard
>Games sell millions of copies >Massive advertisement campaigns >One of the most popular modern capcom IPs >Tons of crossovers >Niche Do you even know what a fujoshi is you absolute mouthbreather?
Action games will forever be niche, also >fujoshi confirmed mentally ill lmao
Gavin Lopez
I'm not talking about general sales you tards dmc5 is selling fine in the west, it's only Japan where it's selling much worse than 4 did
I was just curious if anyone heard anything concrete about why this is the case
James Mitchell
>I was just curious if anyone heard anything concrete about why this is the case Because home consoles and PCs are next to nonexistent in Japan, it's not a big mystery. Coupled with the new realistic graphics it's enough to make what little possible sales Japan could have lower than the other games. There's barely even 6 millions of PS4s in japan.
Thomas Long
as I pointed out, other games are still selling fine in japan (mhw, re2, sekiro), it's only dmc5 that's selling much worse
>westerners BTFO the japs in just about everything and every game that's not handheld you mean saleswise? You say that like it's a hard thing for a 10 times bigger country that also knows the tastes of their own much bigger audience much better than Japan does, to produce more games that sell well in the west
Nicholas Watson
Japan hasen't mattered in terms of consoles since last generation. Compare North America's and Europe's monthly PS4 sales to the Japs. Westerners made the PS4 the huge success it is, not the Japs. They barely made a dent by comparison.
Logan Cooper
>Because home consoles and PCs are next to nonexistent in Japan, yet MHW, Sekrio and RE2 are still selling better in Japan than the previous games did
anyway, forget that I asked this shit
I knew it will be just you retards coming up with your own headcanon faggotry instead of anyone posting anything actual concrete information
Bentley Peterson
We not fucking doing this Yea Forums we are not calling DMC2 a good game
Fuck you faggots are so contrarian and try hard it makes me sick
Landon Ross
>OH WOE IS ME >DISREGARD THESE FACTS WHY IS DMC NOT SELLING A GORILLION UNITS >SOME MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSAL FORCE MUST BE AGAINST ME AND MY FAVORITE FRANCHISE This is what happens when you push circlejerk threads that have no reason to exist to oblivion. Do you also wonder why Fifa or Madden always sold more than DMC in the west, shit for brains?
It's just that no one cares? it's a whopping success regardless. You bringing this shit up is like the Black Panther fanboys bringing up the fact that Black Panther made more money domestically than Infinity War did domestic, it's beside the point because Infinity War btfo'd Black Panther regardless.
Kevin Ward
whats the trick to S rank HoH missions? just doing EX taunt as many times as possible before killing everyone? sounds bit lame
>says dmc5 sold worse than dcm4 in japan >leaves out the fact the info was only based on physical, not digital included kek
Owen Nelson
He's astonishingly bad at hitting you in the air. His attacks are heavily inclined to ground striking.
James Morales
One interesting thing is that despite all the years, we still don't know who was at the helm before Itsuno took over. Nobody mentions him by name. It's gotta be someone big and out of respect they've all decided not to completely drag his name through the mud.
Jack Harris
Japan has shit taste. This has always been the reason. DMC is definitely the type of game that's more successful overseas than in Japan.
Grayson Thomas
The game where you can beat most bosses while standing still and mashing the square button is an overlooked gem?
Lincoln Miller
The fact that this has no responses says a lot about how much they fucked up Dante's characterization in DMC2.
Logan Anderson
Dante has like 10 lines the whole game
Josiah Gonzalez
youtube.com/watch?v=33p962t2QQI >nero flashback has altered voice >v flashback doesn't has altered voice the most pointless plot twist
Blake Allen
