the RNG must have really been on mu side for my first playthrough because Melo was my best character overall

elf gets a 9 range attack and basically every attack modifier possible, although only ferocity and flurry really matter with ranged.
loli gets soul shield + prevail which is a god combo compared to most of what your other units can do
they are not weak but both do require massive amounts of grinding when you can only really invest into one heroine and your shop.
A lot of the characters have their uses. I beat the game and did NG+ and NG++. Getting some of the later outfits for the main 3 girls makes them fucking annihilate everything, especially the loli and elf. Sword girl is great for most of NG as her beast costume makes it hard for any enemy to hit her which is great for as long as it lasts. I thought the game was really fun but once you hit chapter 4 and sex scenes start popping up every 2 seconds gets annoying since I'd rather play the game than go through the h-scenes.
New game ++ with enemy level cap disabled is the true game.

You can choose to carry over levels/items so no not really.
you can set it so you can although I'm not sure why you would. Once you start a newgame+ you will need to redo all the stage objectives/map out the level again but you will get the rewards again as well. Also quests are reset including new game+ only quests.

Bullshit timed collection missions aside, you can safely leave most quests be if you don't see any obvious way to complete them at the moment.

I found every character to be useful. I'd say the least useful was the succubus, I think her name was something retarded like Sharty. Even then she was a flier which was useful if I wasn't using clothes that gave me flight.

From the 3 meister games, perhaps 天結 was my favourite, but it feels like each is also lacking good aspects of the others. Lily was my favourite heroine, as well as the H with capturing enemies was great. Outfits in 神採り was nice, not sure why they dropped that.
Still need to get to the main 戦女神 series one day.

Himegari is my personal favorite. I used that game to improve my Japanese when I was at like 100-200 kanjis sub N3 level. I progressed in a snail's pace because I had to look up every other word, it was hell but it was worth it. That's why it will always be special to me on a personal level.
What did you think of Lily in Amayui? I was kind of annoyed she joined at level 1, but after you level her up she's basically the strongest character in the game.
Did any of the other meister games get translated? Kamidori was top tier but last I heard the translators didn't want to touch Himegari due to too much non-consensual content or something.

Not going for NG+ chars because it'll be too long. Overall, ranged characters are not nearly as useful as melee because they can't move and attack at the same time or kill enemies during their turn while defending, and many late game enemies have projectile defense.
Yuela, Golem and Eushully are the best.
Wil and Emelita can be great once your send them through the fountain and get all clothes and items.
Mylen, Lily, Asmodeus and Leguna are all very strong, though Mylen is squishy even with prevail 3.
Any character without prevail are dead weight. Best fucking skill in the game.
Kohakuren saved my fucking ass in the NG++ mission where you have to do some fights as guest party members in separate location.
Why they were forced to be 50 LVL while the enemies scaled to your level is a mystery.

When I started a new game with the NG+ quests enabled I managed to kill the lv90 bird with a newbie party by abusing this. 2x Wils Guard and 1x Fly Guard had 100% chance to absorb 1 attack each, and Suina eventually killed it with the Bowling Ball.
The Earth Elemental fucking wrecked me, though.
She still swords mostly.
I load Kamidori up every year or so to slowly work on 100 stats for all characters and run thru another route.
Yuela is much weaker at the beginning than she is at the end. You go the dodge route at first but switch to endurance once enemies get good accuracy and undress skills.
Around level 100, she's practically invincible with Prevail 3 and Soul Shield, though she also deals little damage.
And when you don't need Soul Shield anymore you can go full offensive like Counterattack and Vorpal Counter intercept enemy attacks and give you extra attacks even if they don't trigger instant kills so they're both offensive and dfensive at once. Really the only thing that can kill her with that skillset is reflected damage, and she deals retarded damage herself.
How you can rate Aht so high is beyond me. Crippling stat caps and mediocre skill set.
Kohakuren can teleport other units across the map, and will eventually shit out so much MAtk that even fire resistant enemies will get one shot by her.

It also depends on how fast you level. I haven't played in a long time but I remember stat caps raise with class promotions which depend on quests accessible only after unlocking certain chapters.
So, the faster you level, the weaker are Wil, Serawi, Aht, Suina, Sharty and Melodiana in particular, because you hit those stat caps before getting classes upgraded, which means all your levelups past a certain points are completely wasted.
Any stuff with actually good gameplay other than Kamidori, Rance 6 and Rance 7? I gave Evenicle a try but it was too bare bones.

As for gameplay alone, it's pretty dull and more of an annoyance when progressing through the story.
The content is a weird mix, going back and forth between lighthearted comedy and edgy shit. Girls and interactions are pretty solid, and I enjoyed it overall, but you probably should pirate it first and then decide if it's worth your money.
