whats the point of this
toon town is for like literal 10 year olds

because it has fallen out of style and takes incredible patience and testing to balance appropriately

dumbass
toontown rewritten is great fun

it's not about toontown it's about turn-based MMOs. I just can't find any MMOs I like simply because I despise hotbar combat so much.

wow basically has turn based combat

how would that even work?

Atlantica Online was probably the most popular one. I think there was a sprite based one called Wonderland Online or something like that. And Square Enix released a beta test of one called Concerto Gate before cancelling it.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention WAKFU obviously

There's pokemmo, the pokemon mmo.
It's basically soul silver with a bunch of other people running around making it easier to trade and battle on the fly.

You have to find your own roms, that's how they haven't been given a C&D

without much difficulty? There's plenty of online games where you take turns doing shit, just very few MMOs

Actually just checked their website, they've added a fuck load to it.

TemTem is a Pokémon ripoff. Should be out next year. I'm gonna try it, but with all kick starter shit it'll probably never actually come out.

cause its a bad idea?

Fuck off cogsucker

i wish there was a game with the wizard101 combat system that wasnt wizard101

The problem with hotbars isn't the fact that it's real-time, it's that so many of the functions on your hotbar are shittily designed.

In older MMOs when you had to select abilities from a menu, each action had great consequence. Most of the battle was just auto-attacking, keenly paying attention to the flow to battle, typing in chat to coordinate with your party members and unleashing your abilities at the exact right moment.

I've noticed that when hotbars got introduced it came with the introduction of a lot of "filler" commands that you're expected to click every 2 seconds to trick your brain into thinking you're doing a lot of action, even when the result of those clicks is mostly inconsequential.

So don't blame real time combat, blame shitty filler commands that the devs included to make you stay busier than you actually need to be.

Hold up when could you choose starting gags

>Rewritten still doesn’t have features that were in the main game when it closed down
>We still don’t have fucking movers and shakers buildings
>The only other alternative is toontown corporate clash and it’s a grindy mess with no one to play with and help you actually do the grindy missions

Fuck Disney for shutting down toontown honestly. Fuck Joey and his team not banning literal pedos from the game but banning people who troll greeners by getting them killed. The original greener doesn’t get banned and I just potentially saved this boss run but you’re gonna van me? Honestly TTR needs to fucking commit to restoring features and optimizing the game before adding any of the new shit they want to add but never finished.

Are people who played toon town even old enough to post here? it's not that old, and it was a kid's game. pretty sure it was post classic runescape and for a younger audience.

>he doesn't know

Toontown - Soul
Club Penguin - Soulless

Launch was in 2003, even people born that year would be 16 right now.
Target audience is in their early 20s at the very minimum right now.

waven is coming out soon bros

when did it shut down though, if people are complaining about content from the final patch? it's a disney MMO for kids like club penguin.

i dunno know but I remember seeing comericals for it on Nickelodeon as a kid

fuck u club penguin was really fukkin kewl okay
I loved that game so much

Fuck that. Where's my HACK N SLASH MMO?

DDO

Kinda sucks I waited until after the real Toontown servers shut down to get a Toon high enough to do all of the content, but I always wanted to at least experience the HQs as a kid.
Now that I have though, fuck Law and Boss.
Law takes ages to get notices/runs unless you manage to witness the only other two people also grinding it out.
Boss takes forever even with all of the people doing them, options are only really grindable in hour-long back nines and the boss fight is equally as long and tedious.

the whole point of those facilities is to do them with friends and to mess around, if you focus too much on the grind aspect, it becomes less fun

that being said, fuck lawbot
