I wish the advanced job system wasn't just a linear change. There is barely a point to advanced jobs outside of Scholar and Summoner, but even that is messed up as they shouldn't have their exp tied to Arcanist. You should also be able to remain a base job and have it be different with its own abilities after level 50.

That was my experience with the game. Meh.

Plenty fun. It's the melee job that all other melee DPSes are compared to both in terms of development and in terms of class-design, it's essentially using two skillchains and intersparsing those GCD attacks with Jumps. DRG is made hard/interesting by virtue of all of its oGCD Jump attacks having animation locks, so you can't Jump at a bad time or not account for something like a bottomless pit between you and the enemy without screwing yourself. It has room for optimization of its rotation, generates low enmity, is a bit tankier than the other DPSes (you won't survive like a tank but you'll fare better than a SAM, NIN, non-Fists of Earth MNK, or a caster), deals acceptable damage, and Battle Litany + Dragon Sight + Disembowel give it excellent party synergy.

Summon an arcanima portal that releases the upper-body or an aspect of a primal to perform an attack, think Yuna in Dissidia summoning the upper-body of Ifrit for claw-swipes. Retain the focus on unga bunga AoE damage and a build-up to summoning Bahamut, reskin all of SMN's spells to reflect a primal's capabilities (ie Ruin to a Shiva or Ramuh spell), give it low-mediocre single-target capability but an absolute god of AoE capability, to the point where Black Mage played optimally will still edge it out in a lot of scenarios but Summoner requires a lot less thinking to achieve acceptable results. Enkindle summons the full primal to perform their signature attack in a large radius.

2) use the free week they're currently giving to all players who haven't played for at least 30 days

Currently Dragoon only does its basic rotation, manages his DoTs, buffs, 1 timer and a """"resource"""" (not really a resource tho). Monk and Ninja are way harder than that, you have to do all the above but with a way faster GCD and more stuff. Also they have to play better than a "normal" Dragoon, because while he can compensate personal DPS loss with his buffs, Monk doesn't and Ninja has to use Trick Attack pretty well to not be a complete weight for his party. There's also BLM who is a fucking turret, and being a turret in this game is, well... Maxing your damage output is quite the challenge.

They couldn't stop teasing that arcanima staff with sixty-to-seventy quests, I'd bet it'll get a shakeup.

She only existed to be a plot device, fuck that trash character

Mechanically a 'big hits' class doesn't have to behave similar to Black Mage at all. The issue is more that traditional summons would probably be most faithfully implemented as long cooldown skills, which if that was the bulk of what you were doing would not make for a mechanically interesting job when compared to the rest.

Summoner should just be rebranded Channeler and focus on the trance stuff, and possibly implement summons as limit breaks - giving the party options that aren't just role based.

You have to enlighten them that the GCD is the way it is because of the furious amount of oGCD abilities you have compared to similar MMOs, WoW included.

BfA has less actions per minute now since they have zero oGCD spells.
XIV has a slightly longer global but you're doing stuff in between, even if you aren't casting a spell you can use the time to reposition and shuffle around.
