Here we go!

Attached: 1555062554445.png (579x587, 108K)

I would say it is. But you will get faggots who will jump in and scream it's ruined like they did when Waterballoon titties got changed to actually breasts with nipples and they hated the game for it.
Doomstarters will continue to make up reasons to hate something.

Who cares? When's the porn one coming out?

Shantae "fan" spotted

At this point I'd say the TORtanic crowd can be ignored and is being ignored. Every thread for the past years they've been going on about how IGA was just another conman like Inafune, and while the delays were concerning, every time IGA showed he was really listening to feedback and not just screwing around. Now he has a trailer explicitly displaying how he's been listening to criticism, so the TORtanic crowd doesn't have a single leg to stand on. They'll keep whining but at this point nobody's going to care and the game is going to sell anyways.

And I'm not even a backer, I bought CotM and liked it but wasn't sure about the main game. But at this point it unironically looks pretty good, the save room looks sweet.

Still looks a bit slow. It would be great if the whole thing was sped up 20% or so.
Or if you could shield cancel backdash

BUT HOW IS THE GAMEPLAY

I HAVEN'T PLAYED DEMOS

The graphics are fine and all.
But I'm really impressed with how good and wholesome their attitude towards criticism is, especially in this shitty era where any critique means you're "entitled." Paid shills are everywhere acting like customers are obliged to eat up whatever's presented to them with a smile. A video like this is refreshing.

Knowing Iga, I'm sure the game will have backdash at least.

It still looks bad? The poop footage has footage from very old trailers

I don't think it looks great graphically, but I'll still play it and I would have still played it with the old graphics.

It plays exactly like every Iga-era 2D Castlevania. Exactly like it. Literally every demo has shown this.

Absolutely. I like how they even poke fun at the tentacle by labeling the old one "poop" at first. Got me giggling. I wish more devs listened to constructive feedback like this and admitted to their mistakes.

Is this girl in the game or not?

Attached: 1543862546693.jpg (1108x1200, 157K)

Game looks Soulless now.
Poop literally has more Soul.
Anyway, is the Switch version getting a physical copy or digital only?

1:1 movement speed and combat to SotN and every other Castlevania with Igarashi involved.
People claim it's slower but that's only due to wide screen giving that Illusion.

Mods will make it happen.

It no longer looks like a low budget doujin gamd so thats pretty cool. I'm sure some of you dipshits will cry "soulless" about it

I’m just worried I’ll have to wait a while to play it. Getting it physical on PS4, but I’m skeptical the physical copies will be distributed day 1.

Everything is fucking shiny
other than that bretty good

Here, have an exploitable. Have fun.

Attached: OHAYOUUU.png (579x587, 97K)

Very nice. I really, really liked Curse of the Moon so I hope this turns out at least not bad.

the combat looks slow in the trailers because they aren't going to show wacky backdash cancels or late game speed upgrades in a trailer

It feels like a shader touch-up that was always planned to been done near the end of develpment but they're pretending that they did it in response to feedback so they look good.

I don't really give a shit about an ugly copy pasta of a good game but that's just me

Attached: ankha.gif (313x313, 462K)

God I just want another Castlevania game. Give me Julius Belmont in battle of 1999 please.

>shantae 5 announced
>excited to see perhaps a return to sprites or some mix of modern and classic shantae artstyle
>it's literally just more HGH

wayforward PLEASE

it's really frustrating that pirate's curse is STILL the best game in the series

Attached: 1451226194930.jpg (636x900, 287K)

I think it looks really good.

That and the whole Widescreen thing.

Shantae 1 is the best in the series and that's only because it's charmingly janky. All the other games are super bland and by-the-numbers.

but can get bugged during tas speed runs?

Honestly, I'll easily take that over being accused of being a racist gamer.

What the other user said.

Attached: tumblr_p0iocukzXC1wk9zu7o1_1280.png (655x1122, 975K)

>miriam holding her shoe
I've seen this pic a million times and this is the first time I notice it

BUT WILL THERE BE AN ARADIA OUTFIT?

If only Konami wasn't a piece of shit we would've gotten a game like this

I will never not be mad about Vepar getting deflated, regardless of how much better her lighting and textures look now.

Attached: s7y7Me9.png (800x800, 426K)

>pirate's curse
>literally has shine sparking and great polished environments along with fun platforming and combat mechanics
Shantae GBC is certainly good but gameplay wise i prefer TPC.

Attached: brains.gif (500x451, 105K)

So mod it back in.

I'm going to try.

Wow they actually made it presentable. Character animations still look kind of shit.

No matter how poopy it is I still pirate it.

Attached: 1540625496224.jpg (512x384, 19K)

I don't get it. Do you hate having to pirate it or something?

Apparently there are speed upgrades, but the base speed is basically equal to SotN

I assume they will add something like the panther dash like in Dawn of Sorrow.

Attached: 83yKyaI.jpg (748x427, 70K)

didnt wayforward made the improvement?

This guy gets it.

Apparently.

Attached: 2019-05-03 00_23_48-Project Update #76_ Bloodstained_ Ritual of the Night by Koji Igarashi - ukshado (571x572, 415K)

I love seeing these two together so much.

That can of monster looks weird, it's shaped more like a redbull can.

It's in Japan. The cans are much smaller for maximum merchant points.

The thing that makes the game look shitty is having her locked dead center in the frame 100% of the time. In older Castlevania games the characters moved more independently from the camera. Bloodstained looks like someone wearing a GoPro harness.

It looks much better now, but I'm still disappointed at 30 fps Switch, since the Vita version was cancelled and the WiiU was a big part of the original campaign.

for fuck's sake you know America has smaller cans in non-BIG SIPP sizes, right?

Never seen one. I'll take your word for it.

But this picture is from Japan though.

>wig
IT WAS A WIG ALL ALONG???

No they weren't. At least not according to the data.

Attached: 4uaLq0P.jpg (765x776, 46K)

Try looking at a gas station. They've got the normal sized (12oz) cans, the big (16oz) cans, and then the 24oz "battery" cans. (Those same cans used to be used for Jolt Cola, they probably come from the same packaging manufacturer)

Fuck no. You don't go back to indieshit sprites. PC is the better game but not due to art style.

Attached: shantae-half-genie-hero-gif.gif (223x344, 410K)

Attached: super-daryl-deluxe-screen-07-ps4-us-08nov17.jpg (1280x720, 266K)

I would take indieshit sprites over HGH's tweened newgrounds flashgame look every day, especially since Wayforward was so good at making expressive sprites.

Let It Die

Attached: bloodstained-boxart0.png (2160x2000, 3.25M)

I have only seen the "normal" and the extra large ones.

>Salt and Sanctuary
Get out of here with this shit.

So is it going to be more Metroid-y or Rondo of Blood-y?

Attached: 1548001986283.jpg (837x1024, 179K)

It's Symphony of the Night/Harmony of Dissonance/Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow/Portrait of Ruin-y.

Looks better. Still not great but Im glad they addressed it instead of doubling down like most of these companies do. They fixed the bland color pallette atleast.

Salt and Sanctuary was pretty fun for a piece of shit.

backdash has been in the demos. backer demo also had a few special movement abilities.

youtube.com/watch?v=olFgtc8XBvE

this
at 1.25x speed it's barely passable

rip

That's how they sold it and exactly what people backed it for. They've already started a pseudo-8-bit side series with pic related to keep the Classicvania fans happy.

Hell another one of the stretch goals was for a secondary game mode that's just a Classicvania retelling of the main game using repurposed assets.

Attached: Curse of the Moon.jpg (1280x720, 186K)

Speaking of Curse of the Moon, why is the side character getting a game? Or is Curse of the Moon the side game? Also, how the FUCK do I beat the final boss in this game?

To differentiate from the main game I guess.

But also I'm pretty sure Zangetsu is gonna end up being the real final boss of the main game if CotM is any indication.

At least it looks like dungeons might be coming back, which is a good sign since the first game is great.

Attached: 1554796029760.jpg (800x800, 94K)

Miriam was the main character, Zangetsu was a side character, and probably the second playable character in Bloodstained, they just gave him Curse of the Moon as a spinoff because fans liked him. I guess people who don't want to play as a female character for whatever reason have a more classic manly hero in Zangetsu, especially since in Curse of the Moon he really plays like the dude from getsu fuuma den.

Wait, I'm still new to Bloodstained. Did Ritual of The Night come before Curse of The Moon or?

Ritual of the Night is the main game that the kikestarter was made for, Curse of the Moon was made as a stretch goal for it to appease classicfriends

>I assume they will add something like the panther dash
It's already been shown in one of the trailers.

Vepar's awfully disgusting blobs were never shaped like that.
I swear they never even looked like breasts. Just because you love big breasts doesn't mean you shouldn't have standards.
See in this fanart they've at the very least got some semblance of shape to them, which the original did not. And they were animated even worse.

It is amazing how successful one trailer can be at turning opinion around

Attached: 1556803854835.png (395x351, 202K)

Curse of the Moon was so fucking good. It gave me hope that Ritual of the Night isn't going to be total trash.

I really hope it's good. Concerned it'll only be like 4 hours long or some shit though.

They said it was going to be longest igavania or something.

The demo was like 1 hour, 1:30 if you explored and collected everything. So I kinda doubt that was 1/4 of the game. Especially as inverted castle is in

I haven't followed the game super closely just because of how long it's been in development, but that's good to hear if that's actually the case.

What was the longest igavania so far though? OoE and HoD right? So Bloodstained is at the very least going to be at least 12 hours long.

Not even mentioning repeat playthroughs.

People literally already played Ritual of the Night several times across several different demos now and it plays fine.

>I swear they never even looked like breasts
then you're a fucking idiot
they looked like big floppy water-filled funbags, which would not be unreasonable for a water demon whatever the fuck
>in this fanart they've at the very least got some semblance of shape to them
which is ironic because Miriam poked a bunch of holes in them, so all the water is leaking out and they're deflating

Repostan from the last thread:

bloodstained.forums.net/post/63196

"The map size that was dug up for ROTN was a 200x100 grid.
So now I'll use the grid size vs. the rooms used for all the other igavanias to come up with some numbers.
OoE and PoR will just be the castle, not the whole game.

SotN: 50x60 grid. 942 rooms. 31.4% utilized
HoD: 59x29 grid. 674 rooms 39.392% utilized
AoS: 50x36 grid. 928 rooms. 51.55555%.... utilized
DoS: 54x40 grid. 1023 rooms. 47.3611111%.... utilized
PoR: 51x37 grid. 486 rooms. 25.755% utilized
OoE: 50x35 grid. 498 rooms. 28.457% utilized
So, these are the standards of map utilization that Iga has set, and what I'm going to base guesses on. So.

If Bloodstained's map utilization is equal to his most sparse map, being PoR's castle, than Bloodstained will be 4846 rooms big.
If Bloodstained's map was absolutely barren and half of that at ~12.88% utilization/2423 rooms (basically 100% unlikely imo), then that would still be bigger than SotN's combined castle A and B room total of 1890
If Bloodstained matched the densest map in AoS, the game will be 9700 rooms big
If Bloodstained's utilization is the perfect average of all the games (37.32%), then we're looking at a 7022 room game
That's probably a bit unrealistic to be honest so I'd go for the most sparse number and then make it even smaller.
So my personal guess is probably around the upper 3000s range for room count"

Hard to get excited when technically I've already played this game, because it looks and plays exactly the same as every other game in the series.

Literally every single room, enemy and boss in Curse of the Moon was lifted from a different, probably better game.

Isn't that what people asked for though? Just more of the same? I doubt it's going to be the best thing ever as well but just more iga to seek our teeth into.

I think there are already some nifty changes, though. Like, Miriam has a bunch of different movement options you see her use at the end of the trailer, like the warp and the transforming into light. In the old Igavania games the only transformation I ever used was the bat, but in this one it seems like they'll play a larger role in combat.

That was literally what the kickstarter was sold on.

Humans are visually oriented creatures. A huge amount of our brains are devoted to sight. It's why bullshots and "TOTALLY IN-GAME/ENGINE FOOTAGE" trailers exist. Literally everything else could be shit, but most marketing relies simply upon getting an image in front of potential customers.

Attached: 1539831586556.jpg (1090x1028, 165K)

I can't believe i'm still alive after all this years waiting for this game and it's coming in a month or so.
Super excited, though i spend $60 on it and it is sold at $40, i hope there's some backer exclusive shit to make up the difference.

There is. Backers were confirmed to be getting an exclusive boss and weapons since the original campaign.

it's looking a lot better yes, pretty nice

>an exclusive boss and weapons
Cool, but i can see the game getting a lot of flack on steam reviews because of this, though they might be sold as DLC.
Cosmetics would have been more appropriate and less inflammatory i think.

Will the game be as depressing as Order of Ecclessia where Albus has essentially killed himself for Shanoa's sake though?

There are no good endings in Curse of the Moon so that's very likely. Then again that game was made by Inti Creates.

Mostly like we will get

>Miriam dies early ending
>True final boss ending where Gebel dies
>If Gebel doesn't sacrifice himself in the ending above, third ending where he does and is the "happy" ending

Presumably the narrative parts, the important ones anyway, were dictated to them.

It looks better but still doesn't look very good.

is this some Order OF Ecclessia?

>inb4 IGA will specifically play out on everyone expecting the game to end Order of Ecclesia style and give an actual happy end to both Miriam and Gebel

I'm expecting Gebel to have a change of character at some point. He's pretty clearly modeled after Alucard and a lot of the background details and Curse of the Moon in general makes it seem like Gremory is going to be the one pulling the strings.

Either that or Zangetsu sacrifices his soul ala CotM, becomes the new lord of the castle, and ends up the Dracula of the series, with Gremory as his Death equivalent.

Attached: Akoumajou Fuuma Den.jpg (1024x614, 225K)

Doesn't the game have a literal Alucard already? Think it is even the old VA

Robbie Belgrade's playing someone but the character's just listed as Mysterious Man. He's only been shown as a silhouette but it looks like Gebel.

Just imagine Miriam and Aradia squishing their busts together and grabbing each other's asses.

Antagonist is probably going to be Johannes. Gebel will sacrifice himself for Miriam or something. Johannes is probably who turned Gebel and Miriam into who they are in a bid to become God or something

Plus his name is Johannes. By rule he's a turncoat antagonist

Attached: file.png (980x980, 1.23M)

I genuinely keep forgetting Johannes exists. Kinda weird he didn't appear in CotM.

it improved but i still think it's too bright
am i the only one that doesn't like that?

cinammon rolls a cute

Miriam!

Attached: 1528141187429.gif (802x539, 1.67M)

In Aria of Sorrow I couldn't unequip my weapons to enable to jump up in the air to do command inputs for airborne jumpkicks for extra jump power.

Based IGA I was going to buy it regardless of looks but now I'm just excited that they both saw the feedback and actively wanted to make the game look it's best.

3 of those games released or are releasing on gog, why isn't the last one on there?

old:soul
new: souless

the game still looks too empty and 3dish

but whatever, i hope it is successful nonetheless to revive old metroidvania gameplay... instead of the edgy 2d darksouls-wannabe shit we're getting right now

there are still some decent metroidvanias releasing these days desu, hollow Knight and ori of the blind forest are good, there's also an older one called axiom verge.

Seriously.

whats up with this and that one porn game.
Are they related?

The protagonist of that porn game is kind of similar to the design of this game and both are side scrolling action games so people saw a connection. But mostly its a forced meme.

holy shit I actually thought the porn game was based off this. I would never think its just pure coincidence.

Man I'm streaming that game right now, fuck I wish they had more money to dude the DnD world.

I think the porn game was into development before this game's Kickstarter was even started, if I'm not mistaken the porn game was trying to be some shit soulsvania clone after Bloodbornes release.

The magic of shilling and forced memes.

>beta version of a game
>actually improves dramatically before release visually

I forgot this was how its supposed to work.

what's the game's name?
need it for a friend thx

I'm his friend, I already know, thanks, no need to post it here.

no problem man.

HGH's character models suck though. It's like making a caricature of a caricature.

Attached: D5oz31bXkAAMFtg-orig.png (793x663, 430K)

yeah but compare Bloodstained's development compared to say, Mighty Number 9.

While MN9 did like, 2 character polls (which we can assume ultimately didn't matter because it was obvious they were going to go with the version of Call they had already fleshed out), Bloodstained asked for constant feedback on its presentation. How is the lighting? Should we go with Shader A or Shader B?

They ultimately left it up to fans to decide if it looked good or not.

Attached: file.png (899x947, 2.27M)

again that's actually pretty much how its supposed to look. but with what I would assume a pink chandolier. (whatever that thing is where designers make something awful on purpose so their investors (or backers in this case) would say remove it and feel good about their contribution).

its nice that they listen though.
I feel like they knew it was shit already, because it wasn't finished.

literally still looks like shit

they're not gonna do another video with your post in it

meanwhile some indies are still doing some great sprites

Attached: timestopper.webm (1920x1080, 2.77M)

>touhou

that's cheating.

That game wasn't even that good.

youtube.com/watch?v=gcuQH3lmin8
Literally still looks worse than an 8 year old game with a budget that's a tiny fraction of what Shitstained kickstarter got.

Do the creators know about the meme atleast?

I want more cute stuff like this

Attached: 1551873682543.gif (300x300, 78K)

literally looks like shit.

The creator of the porn game? Yes, people share the fanarts with him

This game was fun

I get the feeling that there are going to be a lot of mechanical feel complaints coming from the fact that it's seemingly 1:1 to Symphony's movement and combat, but that tends to feel sluggish in 3d.

>Elegant vampire winning.
>Sexy otaku shit far behind.

Why is this fanbase so fucking based?

Still looks like complete shit to me?

Attached: 1512327933697.gif (300x300, 438K)

>streaming

I do have decent expectations for this game and I'm sure it will be good at the very least, but the changes in the trailer really didn't impress me at all. All they did was to apply a shiny surface on a few textures and adding a bunch of new light sources and at least visually, that's about it. I assume a single person could have done those changes to the entire game in about a weeks work, quality check included.

>thousands of rooms
>3 enemies and 4 environments in total
Oh boy

I'm not mad that they deflated Vepar - it's that they deflated Vepar AND did some choice editing in the trailer to draw emphasis away from the breasts AND changed Miriam's model to show less skin. I know Miriam is going to have other costumes, but this succession of edits in such a short timespan tells me that perhaps the criticism IGA was really listening to wasn't the game-centered ones at the beginning of the trailer. IGA was using a businessman tactic of making it seem like he listened to constructive criticism when in actuality the game was likely always going to be polished close to this effect when the final release date approached. That said, I'm still looking forward to the game.

Attached: ramthelegs.png (787x383, 491K)

The hell are you talking about? That screenshot comparison is literally the same shot but prettied up.

No, the clothing shows a few changes in the trailer. Note the boots.

Attached: prettiedup.png (693x348, 593K)

The boots are actually weapons. The model changes.

You mean the kung fu shoes? Which is a weapon that you get and also changes your footwear? Sure buddy.

You think slippers make more sense?

The original footage is using new boots and headgear you could pick up in the demo. The new footage is her default gear.
You're complaining about nothing.

I know the model changes. You're missing the point because what was -shown- as an "old vs new" in the trailer is misleading. A more honest comparison would show Miriam in the same exact state in both builds. It's not like they didn't have plenty of time to create a more factually accurate trailer, so it comes across as subtle pandering to a certain crowd.

Imagine complaining about this when other kickstarter projects turned out to look much worse

Attached: D47yy4KWkAEVMz3.jpg large.jpg (1923x1080, 196K)

How much does it cost?

It's no Valkyrie Profile, but it looks ok to me.

I think it will cost $40. No clue if it is actually the right price. Maybe less.

Attached: cMPdC1j.jpg (741x809, 50K)

What is this game and why do I want to play it?

>You're missing the point because what was -shown- as an "old vs new" in the trailer is misleading. A more honest comparison
But what you actually said was

>AND changed Miriam's model to show less skin. I know Miriam is going to have other costumes, but this succession of edits in such a short timespan tells me that perhaps the criticism IGA was really listening to wasn't the game-centered ones
Suggesting some form of censorship. Plus it really isn't an issue because they showed an overall improvement. There have been some changes to the level backgrounds and the foreground as well. Yet you didn't pick up on that.

THey better have a turbo mode because those attacks look slow as fuck.

Shanoa is backflipping and ready to counter and the faggot has FINISHED RAISING HIS AXE

I personally don't mind Switch being 30fps, but how the fuck were they going to cram that game into the Vita?

The art style is still hideous even if they add a new layer or lighthing and color filters.
Is this a joke?

These are the only two games I backed that year and I don't regret it one bit.

Does the Vita version even exist anymore? I'm like 99% sure it was cancelled for the Vita.

Based daddy IGA shitting on shitters

or this. but it would be too obvious, he's already made suspicious by the first cutscene, not to mention his japanese voice actor tends to be used for villains.

Attached: IH1cnoc.png (348x470, 172K)

That actually does look much better. Cant believe they actually listened. That first comparison shot looks like SotN's color scheme.

>next month
Nice

Attached: celebration.png (255x210, 47K)

>Suggesting some form of censorship.
If you take a closer look, they extended Miriam's undergarments as well, so it's both. Emphasis on "I know Miriam is going to have other costumes".
>Plus it really isn't an issue because they showed an overall improvement. Plus it really isn't an issue because they showed an overall improvement.
Yes, everyone and their mother has mentioned the visual improvements in the thread, I'm under no obligation to repeat what has been restated several times over. Emphasis on "I'm still looking forward to the game."
>There have been some changes to the level backgrounds and the foreground as well. Yet you didn't pick up on that.
The main focus of the post was on a select few seconds of the trailer in close proximity to each other. Emphasis on "this succession of edits in such a short timespan".
You're not good at this, are you?

I think he will more likely than not be an antihero of sorts. Dubious methods, gruff personality, but good intentions.

Yes. The old one has 745 polygons on Miriam's spats, but if you zoom in, the new one has 762 polygons. This is an obvious attempt to reduce the amount of skin she shows. This kickstarter clearly has its priorities out of whack.

Attached: 1431431547197.png (551x724, 577K)

What do you mean? Her chest clothing is hanging low enough that realistically her boobs would pop out of her bodice if she were to jump. It is quite provocative. Her skirt seems the same length if the ingame model is any indication.

Maybe it is the angle? I really don't think it is any lower.

sauce?

Attached: 1555682178258.jpg (240x498, 20K)

>I personally don't mind Switch being 30fps
I am too honestly (though I can't imagine why they couldn't get it to run at 60fps. Yes, the Switch is weaker than the current home consoles, but it is still a modern system and I just can't see why a game like Bloodstained should be that heavy to run. It must be built incredibly inefficient if that's the case. Like imagine if this had come out for the PS3 or the 360, and still had to struggle? Why would a PS4 or Xbox One be necessary for this kind of game? That's just ridiculous.)

But yeah. For as long as it doesn't have more bugs than the PC version, I am more than fine with 720p and 30fps. I've honestly never been that bothered by it. I just want stable framerates.
What does bother me to no end though is the one week later release date. I am going to have like the entire game spoiled to me unless I go offline for like the entire week, and I'll also miss the initial reception. It sucks, but I guess I'll have to live with it.
At one point I might get it for PC too, but likely not until later. After a sale and when mods are around.

>they extended Miriam's undergarments as well,
They didn't, both look like they end at the same place. The new shot is just slightly different. You're really complaining that it sort of looks like her bloomers might have gone down 1cm. This is while her tit is hanging out of her top enough to trigger resetera.

>I'm under no obligation to repeat what has been restated several times over.
You missed the point. You're complaint was that her model wasn't 1:1, yet little in the trailer is as the levels have been touched up much more. If that was really you issue you'd have focused on them as they are way more obvious.

>The main focus of the post was on a select few seconds of the trailer in close proximity to each other
Your posts are all over the place and you make up new issues on the spot.

Bad anatomy for the sake of showing more skin shouldn't be ok

>If you take a closer look, they extended Miriam's undergarments
They clearly did not. The lighting is just darker, but that's the overall lighting and not just her upskirt. And it's still far from being a void and you can still clearly see her bloomers. Provided nothing is wrong with your monitor at the very least.
The bloomers are the same.

Which brings us full circle to Vepar.
>You're[sic] complaint was that her model wasn't 1:1, yet little in the trailer is as the levels have been touched up much more.
No, my complaint was mostly on certain choices in the trailer. Emphasis on "they deflated Vepar AND did some choice editing in the trailer to draw emphasis away from the breasts AND changed Miriam's model to show less skin" ... "this succession of edits in such a short timespan" ... "the game was likely always going to be polished close to this effect when the final release date approached" etc.
>Your posts are all over the place and you make up new issues on the spot.
Not really, it's that people like you can't read the first time, or perhaps you expect everyone who liked the trailer to be in perfect lockstep with each other and blindly refuse to accept admittedly minor grievances anyone might have with the chosen footage, or both.
>Says the guy who double quotes
Emphasis on "you can't read".

They weren't.

Well let's hope that, when Miriam goes to work today, Aradia doesn't run into one of those nuns again. Or god forbid she runs into the whole church.

I don't know about you guys but the game seems way too slow or "floaty" to me. Doesn't seem very responsive at all.

Nah its fine, Aradia wont run into any rape monsters. She will happily wait for Miriam at home, cooking a delicious dinner for her darling. Then Miriam gets home and they share a soft kiss before they spend the evening together.

They're really fluidly animated but the Igavania strut looks incredibly silly. Alucard runs like a t-rex with slidey shoes on.

why not just make it all 2D?

Aradia will mess up, and that dinner will rape her.

Its 1:1 with literally every single Castlevania game if you compare them to the demos.
It just looks slower because of widescreen

Maybe so but damn he felt good to play as. The movement was smooth and it was comfy to play as him.

It's basically the same as Symphony of the Night and most of the metroidvania-vanias. If you were okay with those games then you'll probably be fine with it once you get past the fact that that general speed looks sluggish in 3d.
I've noticed that the enemy patterns seem super slow but seem pretty similar to stuff in Aria which I played recently.

A proud tradition.

Is this getting a physical release? I really want to buy this in a store.

It's not like anybody ever walked anywhere as Alucard anyway.

It's getting a physical release on all consoles. The Switch version is ten dollars cheaper than PS4 and Xbone, for some bizarre reason.

I get the Belmont strut but the Haunted Castle stride will forever confuse me. Is he meant to have the whip wound up or something?

Yes. The pose is supposed to resemble that of a japanese swordsman about to draw his sword.

No, it is not supposed to make perfect sense. I suspect they repurposed the sprite from a previous work. Konami are cheap bastards.

>a bu-b-buh switch weak
There's plenty of more graphically intensive games on the system that manage to run at 60 FPS, there's literally no excuse for this besides not giving a shit. On top of fucking that the Switch version's releasing a week later than the rest of them. Really hope you PC bros will be willing to share your GOG versions, because I ain't paying them again to play this on a non shit frame rate.

>for some bizarre reason.
Because it runs like dog shit and is objectively the worst version.

Did you not fully expect the game to be 30fps on wiiU and Vita before they shut those down?
Switch isn't a strong console. Barely anything runs 60 on it.

>unironically wants to use switch to play games other than Nintendo exclusives
Why? Why do you want to play the inferior version of any game on the switch when you can get the better version on PC or PS4?
>the switch isn't weak
The switch is weak. It is weak as fuck boy.

Hey, you posted this exact same post yesterday. Do you save your shitposts?

Not him. But would you have found it acceptable for a game like this to run at 30fps on the PS3 or 360?

Interesting what decent lighting can do to improve a game.

Looks good now. Might buy.

No I didn't.

Acceptable? Yeah honestly. It's a metroidvania. They've been 30fps for most of their life.
But I was never going to play the game on a weakest platform available in the first place.

But what can you do? Its hardware was already outdated even at launch, so clearly this is the pinnacle of what can be done with a PS4.

I want you to reread again.

I haven't been following the panels and dev updates that closely for a while.
Any word on if there's customization for your dress besides the color? It'd be a shame if you could decorate yourself head to toe in unique equipment but you were stuck with the default dress all game.

Ever since Castlevania they've been on Nintendo handhelds they have.
And low and behold 90% of Castlevania games like SotN have been on Nintendo handhelds.
So yes. They've been 30fps for most of their lives.

Ah, mistaken post. My apologies.

Fuck you, you retard.

you seem to have mixed up posts. Your post shows this post in it's picture but you were talking to this post when they had nothing to do with any of that.
The user you are talking to has nothing to do with whatever the hell you were accusing him of and you look insane to him I imagine.

Then......don't? You have the PC and Ps4 versions available to get.

That implies they give enough of a shit about Switch backers, but since they're half assing that version so hard I doubt they do. Which is fucking bizarre since if Curse of the Moon is anything to go by then Switchfags are one of the largest audiences for Bloodstained. I mean I hope you're right, since their reasoning for the Switch version coming out later is due to further polishing and their wording on the game's stats on the system implies that they're only like that for launch, and they might get improved some time after. Though I have a gut feeling that this is just whisful thinking and that the Switch version is going to stay dog shit forever, which fucking sucks because I want to play this on a handheld God damn it, just as I did with the GBA and DS Castlevanias.

If I remember right the dress never changes, unlike accessories and headgear.

They didn't wait for the PS4 Pro so we could get Black Tiger in 4K. It can't be helped.

Well they had votes for different outfits, right?

>You sound butthurt my friend.
Really? How could you tell?

>why not get it on another platform
Because orders have been locked down for like a year now, and they only revealed how little effort they put into this version last month. I'm literally stuck with this piece of shit.

Fucking this
I didn't care much for the art style, but the game just doesn't look fluid and fun to play at all.

Yes you are.

Attached: nintendo_switch_joy_con_grip.jpg (3571x2500, 309K)

Yeah, but that's only a handful. The rest of the body gear won't reflect on the character model.

1:1 movement and combat as SotN. Only seems slow because all footage doesn't show the use of the movement skills and it's all done on widescreen so it makes the illusion that it's slower.

Then we mod in more. Turn her into a dressup doll.

Wasn't the air movement sped up in the later backer demos to be closer to the DS games?

>That SOTN succubus art
Ohhh damnnnn

Just look at those slow jumps from the most recent trailer, it looks unresponsive and SotN certainly didn't have those slow jumps.

Are you blind?

youtube.com/watch?v=_rKQia86-Bc

That's not from SotN.

SotN absolutely had floaty jumps, what the fuck are you on about?

Slow jumps how? height or length wise?
The game is working on a larger screen here now.

How fast you ascend and fall.

Yeah. SotN had float jumps. Did you forget that?

I think I see the issue here. Alucard has a much shorter jump than Miriam. If you compare them screen by screen, Miriam jumps about 2 to 3 times the height of Alucard. I think this is what is making you think she is floating.

In short, screens are much larger now.

I'm

But the video is literally saying that the naysayers were wrong, which to me implies that this was planned and they're saying the people shitting on pre-release visuals were short sighted in their criticism.

Which I agree with and have always felt.

Let me check. I have both the backer demo and the latest beta.

Hot as shit. It's the hips. I hope she plays a decent sized role in the final game.

Backer here. It definitely wasn't.

From what people can gather the reason Wayforward got brought in, and why the final delay was so long, was largely to touch up the game after the response to the previous demos. IntiCreates couldn't develop 3D games at all and while Dico was definitely better than them at it they were still building on the foundation they had already laid out and this is their first big project.

This is definitely closer to their original vision but it took a lot of restructuring to get the game into this state. Hopefully it's a good sign for Bloodstained 2 if/when it happens, since now he's got a competent team that knows what they're doing and don't have to spend a year on damage control.

the absolute state of japanese devs

Ok, I have compared the two.

The backer demo's jump takes a bit over 2 seconds. 1 second to reach maximum height, the rest in falling and landing.
The Beta's jump is visibly faster. It is about 1.5 seconds from resting to falling.

So yeah, she is no longer floaty.

>she

I actually recalled her being male as well, but her Will lists her as female now. Dunno if there's a source for that; maybe just her VAs being female in RotN:

bloodstained.fandom.com/wiki/Gremory

Using an engine that nobody in Japan actually knows how to use was a big mistake, yeah.

I think a lot of it was a learning process for Igarashi too. He's never run a company before and at the time he launched the kickstarter Inti-Creates was a really popular developer so hiring them felt like a no-brainer. Bloodstained wasn't 100% transparent but it was definitely more upfront to its backers than most kickstarters are about its development state, so everyone got to see the growing pains of his new company.

I'm glad the end result is a good one though, even if it took an extra two years. I'd rather have a late game that turns out good and creates a successful new franchise than Inafune's "it's better than nothing, just ship it" approach that flung Comcept into bankruptcy.

>"ugh it's too slow, wheres my black panther?"

Yes it is.

The movement is designed to mimic Castlevania as closely as possible. It's very intentional.

>he thought SOTN was slow

wew lad

I wish that zoomers weren't fucking allergic to sprites. There's no reason that 2.5d should still be a thing.

Attached: castlevania_dracula_x_chronicles_05.jpg (960x544, 131K)

That's not the problem. Devs don't have the experience or budget for a well done high definition Sprite based game. It's why 2D games tend to go hand drawn rather than Sprite based.

3D models are just generally much easier for modern devs to work with and much cheaper. No one wanted a Hollow Knight or Circle of the Moon out of this, they wanted something SotN quality or higher. Those kinds of artists just don't exist anymore.

Its a soulless attempt on recreating castlevania (atleast the demo felt like that)

>mimic
The entire game is trying to mimic another franchise and that is where it loses its originality, creativity and is constrained by its own restrictions.

Hmm I guess even 1.5 million dollars couldn't help them find people to 2D sprites whereas other nameless indie studio could for fraction of that budget.
Completely justifiable

It can be a thing if you have the cash to pay for it. Does IGA and his little company have that kind of cash?

Why the fuck did this indie game take five years to make?

Tell me about these magical indie games with Metal Slug-tier spritework in them, I'm just dying to know where they all are?

Because you would be expecting something on the same scale as SOTN.

As said in kickstarter made 1.5 million yet they went for unity engine. Makes one wonder

Honestly interested on this now.

Which indie? On what kind of scale? What kind of art style?

Care to name those indies ? I'm unironically interested.

>Metal slug tier
That's difficult but momodora, la mulana even touhou Luna nights had decent 2D sprites for the budget they had. Won't be difficult for IGA to find sprite artists with the money he made.

Gonna be day1 pirate for me

Should have hired Wayforward desu

I love HGH's art style, the gameplay however is just simply shit.

You can even consider blasphemous
kickstarter.com/projects/828401966/blasphemous-dark-and-brutal-2d-non-linear-platform
IGA literally has no excuses for choosing 2.5D over 2D, except perhaps the length of the game can be more.

I have one of these Bloodstained games on the xbone, but I never bothered with it. Are they actually good? They gave it away for free on gwg, so I just assumed indie garbage.

Attached: flat,800x800,075,f.u9.jpg (600x800, 57K)

Fuck tons of content and a ton of internal dev fuck ups.

They did, this year.

Curse of the Moon? It's great, basically a new Castlevania III.

>momodora, la mulana even touhou Luna nights had decent 2D sprites
All of those are low rez sprites, the cost and work increase exponentially as the resolution goes up.
Which is why KoF13 (which almost killed SNK) and Blazblue are the last game that tried to do "high" rez sprites before going 3D with KOF14/GG.
btw, ever wondered why you could find recolored version of the same enemies back in the days? Because sprite works is hard and it was faster and easier to just recolor an enemy rather than make new sprites from nothing.

>Won't be difficult for IGA to find sprite artists with the money he made
He made a few millions, that's fucking nothing as far as game development goes.
>muh indies
Not the same scale.

Same as above, everything is low rez sprites with a few "high" rez sprite here and there.

Curse of the Moon is an NES throwback based on Castlevania III by Inti-Creates that was made as one of the kickstarters stretch goals. I thought it was just okay but a lot of people seemed to really like it, so it's worth checking out. The first run of the game is only like two hours long and if its free you have nothing to lose.

The main game is a metroidvania by Koji Igarashi working with Dico and Warforward, based on his work with Symphony of the Night and the DS Castlevania titles. The demos play very much like a sequel to Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia, almost 1:1, so it'll probably be good. The controversy up till now has mostly been that it looked like fucking shit graphically so this trailer was showcasing the visual overhaul they delayed the game for.

I would say it is a good game for entry level players who are not into Metroidvanias yet.

Becca's feet! Becca's knees!

Is the "high rez" sprites even essential? Don't you play castlevania sotn or rondo or even the other classicvanias even today and be satisfied with it?
I am not nitpicky about the resolution or graphics but I was thoroughly engrossed in all these sprite based games.

Sauceeee

Will IGA prove people wrong?

>The first run of the game is only like two hours long and if its free you have nothing to lose.

Ok, I know it looks like ass, but this is my first try trying to make a video of any kind.

The jump is much faster in the beta, compared to the previous version.

Attached: MiriamJump (1).webm (1920x1080, 847K)

Gameplay still LOOKS pretty stiff and floaty, but I suppose we'll have to see how it plays.

Of course, if you want to upload something better, here is the thing I made. I sure as fuck don't know how to compress something right just so it looks good and Yea Forums tolerates it.

mega.nz/#!LxxVHCyR!qnZDNy9_EIAmGDmrU7ZlPEEuH1HS96_J5eqT7Vgkkv0

Iga actually got his start as a programmer so he knew how to design a good game. It just took him time to find a team that he could work well with.

Yooka and Mn9 were led by artists as far as I know.

The way it looks it seems like IGA will probably release a video where he commits sepukku after saying "Lisa forgive me, farewell my son" due to the games disastrous launch.

You can pirate the beta right now
It plays fine

"Reusing a lot" is an understatement in their case.
Remember how Atlus reused the same sprites for 20+ years straight?

>Is the "high rez" sprites even essential?
No but graphics are the first thing people are going to see.
Look at Metal Slug, those game had godlike spriteworks and they were designed at a native resolution of 320x240.
Now take the MS sprites and stretch them to the current standard of 1920x1080, they won't look as good.
Now imagine releasing a game running at that resolution nowadays.
That's just not doable, releasing a game as a low resolution would be an easy way to attract criticism and doing 1080p sprites is 27 times the work of doing a sprite under the condition of Metal Slug.
Even at 720p, you would still have 12 time the workload, going 3D is just the only sane option unless you're ok with being treated as an indie devs who get a pass for those kind of things.

tl;dr Blame graphicwhores and the inability of the masses to look beyond the cover of a book.

What about Octopath Traveler's shit?

Had to google the game.
Based on what little I saw: reused assets (mainly for the PC and the backgrounds) and whatever is new (the enemies, probably more) was made at a lower rez before being scaled up, which is why they have jaggies even at 720p.
Game looks fine at 640x360 so I guess that's the native rez the game was made for.

I wished more devs sit down and actually listen what the gamers have to say about their game. Im half interested for this games release. I just want to see some full gameplay and its a purchase for me

Wouldnt have to be traditional styled sprite work, could be hand drawn. Look at Hollow Knight, and that was with a smaller team on a smaller budget

2D games should be 2D, and I will never concede that viewpoint. Now to be fair it looked like the game made use of the extra dimension by having areas that rotated. If a game makes use of the 3D then I'm fine, but taking a 2D game and using 3D assets has never not looked straight up inferior or lazy

Yeah, these guys cut a lot of corners.

>No but graphics are the first thing people are going to see.
I understand that conventional games needs to be attractive to make a profit out of the masses but aren't the economics of a kickstarter game different wherein the entire development is funded and part of the funding itself is taken as the profit ?
In that case if IGA says he will make a 2D sprited game and everyone funds it then he will only be delivering what people wanted without the need for appealing to other normies. Then why didn't he just do that instead of experimenting with 2.5D?

Have fun.

>im not really a Castlevania fan
If it has anything to do with the difficulty then you might like this one.

>momodora
Isn't that game like 3 hours long?

The speed difference is definitely noticeable.

>Hmm I guess even 1.5 million dollars couldn't help them find people to 2D sprites whereas other nameless indie studio could for fraction of that budget.

Oh yeah, indie games are oozing with high-quality 2d spritework.

Attached: 692101658_preview_Salt-and-Sanctuary-screenshot.jpg (1600x900, 251K)

Hollow Knight reminds me of a somewhat more detailed Alien Hominid. It works for a cartoony style, but I don't think it would fit a game about judeo christian apocrypha.

Attached: alienhominid.jpg (1280x720, 190K)

It must have had 1/10th of the budget of bloodstained.

>t-the g-graphic sucks XD

You've also got the Chinese indie stuff like ICEY or Bladed Fury which are hand-drawn 2D and look really good.

Attached: ICEY.png (1920x1200, 1.89M)

Doesn't change that for a much smaller project it is way easier to undertake. That is why a lot of these modern sprite games people jerk off are super short. Plus from what the dev (rdein) has been posting on twitter the next one is 3D, so I guess they decided 3D was an better route as well.

The best 2d sprite game out there its Hollow knight and its in no way as good as old fashioned 2d sprite work, to be honest bloodstained looks better even being a 3d game. Keep hating faggots.

Also it seems the game use a lot of blur based on some screenshots.

>Wouldnt have to be traditional styled sprite work, could be hand drawn.
That, along with "puppetry" (not sure of the actual word but it's the style used in Dragon's Crown) are the only viable way nowadays to do 2D games at a decent/high rez.
And it's still a lot of work.

>but taking a 2D game and using 3D assets has never not looked straight up inferior or lazy
What about GG?

>In that case if IGA says he will make a 2D sprited game and everyone funds it then he will only be delivering what people wanted without the need for appealing to other normies. Then why didn't he just do that instead of experimenting with 2.5D?
Pixelworks is hard and long to do and few people are willing to do it as an actual job rather than an hobby.

That's hand drawn, not pixel-based sprites.

ICEY looks jank as all fuck in motion. If Bloodstained look like that the thread would be a whole other kind of drama

very well put
I think many people here simply just don't understand how all the sprite shit work in the old age of small as fuck resolution and modern HD resolution
a lot of these faggots are out of their mind if they think all the indie "sprite" looks as good in the HD resolution vs what being produced back in the day for the small resolution from big companies

The sprites in those LOOK good but theres barely any animation, inbetweens just arent there.

Meh I would prefer just one superdungeon for the whole game megaman had his try now let metrid have one as well

It's also much cheaper and making more frames and better animation for the MC isn't that time-consuming compared to hand-drawn backgrounds for every single room.
Bladed Fury looks ~okay-ish because it uses a lot of hitstop to kinda mask the lacking frames.

The whole irony of people were monologue on the virtue of sprites, yet completely undervalue the worked needed is something special.

They are also fixing the the mess that is Indivisible...

>look really good

Holy shit the plebs are this retarded arent they?

>all the shills who said it looked fine and you need to stop being tortanic BTFO by Iga himself

lmao

>Bladed fury
Just google it, remind me of Muramasa Rebirth a lot albeit a bit less polished, is the gameplay as good?
whatever the fuck even happened to vanillaware, last game i play from them was dragon crown and that was years ago

Ok let me ask you this. How much money do you need to make a "hi-rez" sprite 2D game with 20 hrs of content?

It looks fine now. It just doesn't look great like SOTN or something (and looking great was an essential part of the experience, you explored the castle largely just to see it.)

>and making more frames and better animation for the MC isn't that time-consuming
Yes it is. I also really hate the throw more money at it = looks good now mentality. It is such an over simplification. If that were the case then every big budget release would never look bad

1.5 million dollars

>nun 11%
I AINT GONNA FORGIVE

I swear to god I'll fucking kill you.

As long as someone gets mods going, it should be fine.
Just move the dress of the existing nun over to Miriam.

>How much money do you need to make a "hi-rez" sprite 2D game with 20 hrs of content?
Well a KoF13 sprite took 16 months, characters won't need that many frames but you also need to have more characters and backgrounds. Then we have to consider Bloodstained also has a load of weapons, power ups etc.

All that together, I don't think we can put a number on it because such a thing is not currently possible. The dev cycle would be longer than Bloodstained which would rack up the costs.

Attached: 16 months.png (425x214, 17K)

yeah, fucking zoomers man, I swear to god.
at the end of the day the one thing that matter the most is still GAME PLAY, anthem is a fucking beautiful looking game yet it is dreadful to play.

flashy shit might help with the initial reaction and grab more casuals, but if your game turn out to be shit and nobody enjoy playing it then it matter fuck all
of course ideally everybody want both, but they also want games to come out fast, cheap and run flawlessly

>"puppetry" (not sure of the actual word but it's the style used in Dragon's Crown)
Tweening.

Irrelevant whataboutism.
Every fucking time someone wants to discuss graphics(like hand drawn 2D vs sprite vs '2.5 D' in this case) some faggot like you shows and with "BUT WHAT ABOUT DA GAMEPLAY".
Don't inject yourself into graphics discussions if you don't want to actually discuss graphics.

Slow jumps was literally a major component of SOTN's design. it was to differentiate from the classic series by giving the player more control in the air. Also to make vertical platforming more comfy for novice players.

Firstly, their only involvement is letting Shantae appear as a playable guest character. Secondly, mess? What the fuck are you talking about? Indivisible's doing perfectly fine.

Still unironically soulless as fuck

>bloodstained threads are now filled with shittae garbage now

This isn't a graphics disscussion you fucking sperg , but one about the game as a whole. It's almost as if all you idiots care about in a game is graphics, OH WAIT

I am fairly certain WayForward will fit some kind of cameo in Bloodstained.

>billions of rooms
>explore 2%

Attached: carlsagan.jpg (646x536, 49K)

It also shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what the metroidvanias actually strive to be. The gameplay is a means to an end, the aren't trying to be complex action games. Most of the enjoyment comes from the exploration (which isn't really puzzle based outside secret areas and so it's not a big part of the gameplay) and what makes exploration enjoyable is seeing the varied parts of the castle, piecing together lore and whatnot, and to a lesser extent finding useful or novel items. Gameplay has always been overemphasized by pseuds who don't realize games come together holistically to be good. Gameplay can be mostly a means to an end just like graphics, sound etc can be mostly a means to an end in an old atari game. it depends on the kind of game you are making.

Because that is the one thing that truly matter, all the graphic mean fuck all if the gameplay is dogshit. This goddamn obsession about fucking graphic shit and cinematic experience are what killing western games: shittier gameplay, shittier script, shittier setting all in the name of looking good
And don't fucking tell me Yea Forums doesn't care about graphic, literally only a handful posts in the thread talking about her speed or movement, most just talk about how it looks

>what about GG?

GG does look great, but it does so by going as far out of it's way to look as close to 2D as possible. Not just the shading, but the use of key frame animation techniques and cartoony styled motion animation (the blur action lines and such)

If every 2.5D game could match that quality than I'd be fine. But they dont. They dont even come close

way better than any boob or ass shot

Attached: 1528721782225.jpg (659x822, 320K)

Absolutely based. I challenge Yea Forums to name 1(ONE) other dev this based.

Midwit.

Try playing a game without graphics you fucking shitlord. Maybe you'd get a text-adventure game but text display is still some form of graphics.
>most just talk about how it looks
It's almost like the game isn't fucking out yet and you can't actually play it. Graphics discussion at this point is at least based on information we have, "gameplay" discussion is totally irrelevant guessing.

Good

Hopefully they will fix the horrendously slow gameplay and bad animations next.

I think it was a bad move for them to constantly show the game in its alpha/beta state or whatever. It's fixed now as we can see but those years of having the unfinished project be the face of the game didn't help its publicity, that's still gonna be what people will think of as the game releases.

>literally only a handful posts in the thread talking about her speed or movement
Because we've discussed that to death and the new trailer doesn't give us any new information about it. It moves about as fast as SOTN and its successors, which is slower than most games outside the series. It looks slightly worse than it is because of the widescreen and the camera locking onto her so directly. You will probably get a few minor and one major mobility upgrades some amount of time into the game like you do in every other one of IGA overseen games. What else is there to say?

>It's almost like the game isn't fucking out yet and you can't actually play it
Yeah because that has never stop this fucking board to decide how shit a game will be before
Fucking hell, i would bet my money half the posters in the thread don't even fucking play or finish sotn

FUCK OFF ARADIA FAG

>STOP TALKING ABOUT GRAPHICS TALK ABOUT GAMEPLAY
>NO WAIT YOU CAN'T DECIDE WHETHER THE GAMEPLAY IS GOOD BEFORE A GAME RELEASES
Make up your fucking mind.

They could have used Dead Cell method.

When people kickstart a game they wanna be part of the development process or have complete transparency, but if the devs do that then the alpha footage is taken to be the final product.

There's really no winning scenario besides making a sprite game so you don't have to impress anyone with your visuals.

Jap soft drinks are babby size, they don't even have 12 oz standard cans

You forgot the part where this whole game was built on the idea that Igarashi wanted to make another Castlevania. So no fucking shit does it mimic Castlevania.

>I have no pattern recognition
Playing a game doesn't make your arguments inherently sensible and not playing one doesn't make your observations inherently any less valid. "you haven't played it! It's still in development!" is just shill damage control scared people with ruin their infantile hype. Thankfully for once a game actually heard and attempted to correct itself due to criticism. People are only making surface level observations and analysis, obviously you need to play a game-- and play it in depth, to give a deep analysis of it. You are just as delusional if you think every game has an ocean of depth hiding under the surface that excuses or validates the obvious flaws. I don't think i've ever seen this happen, the closest thing is being skeptical simply because of the developers track record and not the game itself.

300ML is the best size, i almost never finish a full bottle of water or can or soda.

Try playing a game without gameplay, oh wait, you fucking can't, you literal retard.

>It's almost like the game isn't fucking out yet and you can't actually play it.
Not like the backer demo's been easily accessible for ages now or anything.

I see that you dont play old games then user

They also tween, slide, and rotate sprites to simulate animation so they can forgo making more sprites.

Try playing a game without graphics.Hope you like memorizing sound cues.

Yeah i really want a gamewith a $10mil crowdfunded budget to look like some low budget shit like Momodora or La Mulana 2

>Won't be difficult for IGA to find sprite artists
Lol there are no good Sprite artists left it's best just to go the skull girls/cup head route at this point

I like VN.

I like my text-based porn game.

Look, I am gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you are probably shitposting and are not as dumb as to equate "not really caring about graphics" as being "not wanting any graphics", cause if you're not then I gotta say I am disappointed in the type of place Yea Forums has become

Try playing a game without gameplay. Hope you like... doing literally nothing.

The kickstarter said the games castle will be the biggest he's made yet.
So it would be at least over 1023 rooms if he isn't lying out his ass. or the have less rooms but they are just bigger.

So a VN or Walking sim?

Not games? Yeah, sure.

The alpha demos were so short that a lot of that is going to be thrown out the window once people start exploring the whole castle. I don't think people will be able to reflect on the Alphas for long in light of the finished product.

It's different than MN9 where the four stages they demo'd at Alpha stage basically represented a whole third of the game since that's how MM style level design works, thus giving a huge first impression. Meanwhile what we've seen of Bloodstained is probably like 10% at most and the finished game is going to feel like a wholly different beast with all of the abilities and stuff.

oh nice, free 1000g?

Pretty much. It's also a good game, but half of the endings are pretty much the same playthrough. Just look up a guide on each of them and use cheats for the ones that are repeats, like "kill two teammates, recruit one" or "ignore two, recruit one."

Looks good to me, June is looking packed as fuck with good stuff

Attached: 1448855362403.png (269x148, 11K)

Doesn't look perfect, but it looks pretty improved overall. I hope there's some moderate modding possible to remove the onion portraits and improve things further.
I still get the feeling that the retro one is going to be the better game.

Unless it's terrible definitely going to pick it up.

30fps isn't even that bad as long as the framerate is consistent. I also took the Switch version and I am content with that, if it's the price to pay for the convinience of it being on the switch at all. Just being able to grab the fucking thing and playing on my bed, on the toilet is so damn good.

boards.fireden.net/v/search/text/>30 FPS AND 720p DOCKED AND UNDOCKED/

>30 FPS isn't that bad
dumb zoomer
30 FPS should be completely unacceptable now. People were using 75Hz CRTs even back in the 90s and basically all 2D games on the SNES ran at 60 on NCST and 50 on PAL.

Most igavanias were mostly on small as shit screens running sub 30fps since they were on GBA and NDS.

>Zoomers are the ones that don't care about fps these
Sure kid, even though most boomers are used to playing games with low fps because those were the type of games that were back then.

Come on, your eyes won't fall off. I understand needing 60 fps for fighting games, shmups, or other highly technical game, but you can play a slow paced, exploration based platformer at 30 fps and never feel "dang, I really wish the game was 60 fps, 1080p". But well you do you, keep sheething over recieving a copy of the game on a console you chose yourself knowing full well had lower specs than your PC.

Actually no.
Not until the N64 and Ps1 days did games suddenly start going below 60 fps. Limiting Framerate for graphical fidelity is a recent thing.

GOddamn feminists

I wanted Outfits to match existing Accessories. Because that means we would get more than just fucking one.

>those were the type of games that were back then.
That were... what? You're missing some words in that sentence.
Also no, games back then ran well except for early 3D games on the PSX and N64. PC games and 2D games(like, say, SOTN) ran at 60 or higher.
>never feel "dang, I really wish the game was 60 fps, 1080p
Only if you're blind. Even walking simulators look bad at 30 FPS, it's just a terrible framerate for real-time graphics.
Also, no, I didn't buy this on the Switch and I don't even own one. I care about framerates, I wouldn't want any modern consoles because half the games run at 30 or lower.

Literally all arcades ran at 60fps. Genesis. NES, SNES, etc. Were 60 standard except for 3d shit like star fox

Maybe so, but the games that got the 60fps treatment were pixelated games, you don't even notice that much change between them, it's this recent trend to make games 60 fps because they look "smoother", I was happy to play a game without hicups, nowadays people say you are a retard for not wanting to play exclusively in 60 fps, it honestly looks more unnatural to me imo

Miriam in a cute outfit.

>this absolute casual has never played a game at 15-20 fps out of love of the hobby.
It's like you never played SoTN on a toaster during the early days of emulation.

>I don't own a switch
Then why are you even seething? Enjoy your game at 4k resolution 120 fps and jerk yourself off to the antialiasing or whatever.

true, old games would have had an even higher frame rate than 60 or 50 if it wasnt for television broadcasting standards artificially capping it

zoomers think 50fps or 60fps is due to hardware limitations when its just old government regulations for old television

>SoTN on a toaster during the early days of emulation.
Nothing will ever beat playing Parasite Eve 2 on a cheapass Compaq Presario as it screams for mercy.

The last boss becomes a dream sequence.

>it's this recent trend to make games 60 fps
If by "recent" you mean almost as old as video games themselves.
Arcade games were 60, PC games have been able to do 60 since the 90s if your hardware was good enough.
>looks more unnatural to me imo
Because you're a dumb zoomer who grew up on the 30 FPS infested 360 and PS3. Fuck the 7th generation for pushing brown bloom over playability.
>government regulations
I mean, from a certain point of view maybe? But for old analogue TVs it was just a power grid limitation, their refresh rate had to be identical to the power grid frequency.
Naturally that hasn't been a problem for a very long time and monitors can run at 60, 120, or 144 Hz regardless of the power grid frequency.

I've never seen a game outright admit their game is ugly in an attempt to salvage it.

Attached: y_5ccb9e90ca127[1].jpg (1280x718, 170K)

It's better than the alternative.

>Sonic Director admits they fucked up and will try again
>Iga acknowledges his criticism and polishes his game for a new trailer

I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, I think we're gonna make it.

Oh yeah dude, tell what me what great 60 fps games were before any of those, and don't feed me with pixelated games that had virtually no difference between 60 fps and 30 fps. I am really curious, cause we are talking about a sidescrolling game here, not some triple A game here

youtube.com/watch?v=W7GMFJmrAw0&t=20349s

Rock Paper Shotgun did a build of the game, and the three devs listed are:

>Dico
>Wayforward
>Disruptive games

Who in the hell are Disruptive games? We've never heard of them before.

What you don't seem to understand is that old game consoles were built wsy differently and overall it was really just producing a several layers 2D pixels resembling something and moving them about. Most games didn't even loaf anything that wasn't on screen at a given moment. Most sound effects were also done using the system's very own chipset and very limited sample sizes.

Now games have to make 3D spaces, load high resolution textures and keep very large sample .mp3 files for everything. This is not to mention the fact that old SNES games and Genesis games did, in fact, had slowdowns and framerate drops if it loads too many sprites on the screen.

Googling them brought up that they've worked on one game before, a VR one.

Meant for this.

>pixelated game
>virtually no difference
What's it like being braindead?
Also ever heard of Quake, the first full 3D polygon game? That could run at 60 if your hardware was good enough. Wasn't even that hard if you lowered the settings.
>make 3D spaces
>very large sample .mp3 files
Please be bait.

Ok, they're not .mp3, they're compressed, but that's not the fucking point.

The point is that games nowadays are much more complex and more demanding, and on top of that they have to function on multiple platforms each with different specs.

They claim they are veterans. Probably scraps and pieces of some older studios. Not much of a trajectory as of now.

>if your hardware was good enough
I see so I should've forked some more money for a "smother" experience on one or two games

Only demanding because Publisher believe graphics matter more than functionality.
that's all there is to it.

Thank you for showing everyone just how little you understand about games or computer hardware. Take a light wiki walk for starters and then come back once you've at least somewhat educated yourself.
