Metal Gear Survives is actually a pretty good game! Why did everyone hate it when it first came out? Picked it up on sale from steam and been having a lot of fun, it's really a shame the online is dead.
Did reviewers have an agenda when it came to this game? It honestly does not deserve most of the criticisms that were levied against it.

Is it it actually good singleplayer? I played the beta with a friend and it seemed like it would be a nightmare without a full squad of four.
That's kind of unfortunate. I don't remember there being this much backlash against say Resident Evil 5, even though Shinji Mikami was no longer involved.
The singleplayer mode lasted me for about 30 hours, after that it's all post-game multiplayer content... which is tough if you're trying to do it solo. There's a steam group for it and you usually can find at least one more person to play it with. I can find 4 people groups on higher traffic times like on weekends pretty easily.

Not because Kojima kept wasting money, started Silent Hills before mgsv was finished, licensing muh 80s music, started a studio in commiefornia, cut snake’s dialogue etc.
Thats kind of the reason I stopped playing this. I couldnt find anyone in matchmaking on the xblive and everything just became wayy too fucking hard for solo play.
The survival mechanics are great and base building is pretty good too. If they optimised it for solo play today, Id get back on in an instant.

You can do salvage solo if you roll for really good gear or bring in a ton of mats with you for air canons galore.

The gameplay is a spitting image of MGSV. It's fluid, tight, responsive, intuitive, and fun. Further improved by Survive's deepening of melee combat along with existing mechanics of MGSV's gunplay and stealth.It's good, mate.

multiplayer was dope but its dead forever now. singleplayer was okay but i prefer playing mgs5 with infinite heaven
It's $15 on steam right now. I'd say the enjoyment I got out of it would have been worth about $30, and I never touched the multiplayer, which is like... half the game.
I find it fun.
Traversing the dust is tense at first but it’ll get boring after a bit.
Just speedrun the story mode if you get bored and skip the cutscenes if you aren’t invested.
The guild hall(co-op lobby) is the real shit.
Get the pc version, has the most players. And join the steam group.

Because the people who loved MGSV were mad at Konami for firing Kojima and the people who didn't like MGSV were just fucking done with the series. At least that's what I think, MGS4 already left a bad taste and I finally dropped the series after shit walker.

was a decent game despite people shitting on it at release, singleplayer was nicely fleshed out which was a surprise, it's a shame the multiplayer is dead (even on arrival) and the game itself was bogged down by mtx and time gating garbage.
also if you do get it, topping off your food and water prevents them from going down for a while, absolutely essential for getting through the game and I have no idea why the game never tells you this
