Maybe it's just me but the modern Yea Forums memes like Boomer, Zoomer, Doomer, Bloomer, NPC, Honkler, etc. feel like they have a very reddit/social media/normalfag vibe to me, like they're part of slick "find the newest epic meme(TM)" marketing campaigns. The old memes, even if you think they were "cringe", felt more spontaneous.
I don't think it's strictly supposed to be a joke, it looks like it's smply expanding on the format of crudely animated boomer/zoomer webms
What makes it half bearable (other than the various in-jokes like jannies being the police) is the bit of "social commentary" it's presenting
Like, the zoomer mostly plays online with noticeably different people (chads, NPCs, random nigs) and he doesn't seem bothered by that at all, while the doomer prefers the solitude of singleplayer (or playing alone at least)
The boomer on the other hand doesn't really care, hanging around in both SP and MP
But ultimately, he prefers going back to the older games he played while younger
It's also the little stuff, like doomers not really caring about the supposed "racism/toxic environment" of vidya (he totally ignores moonman while he's threatening a guy), Yea Forums playing online but clearly hating it (maybe because of the perceived "forced progressiveness" depicted by the WeWuz guy), rich people using their money to get better shit while playing online (porky driving that dlc-looking car), the "no fun alowed" stance in multiplayer games (jannies arresting trolls -smug pepe- as well as normal people playing the game), and so on
Maybe I'm looking too much into it, I don't know
but I actually liked some of the smaller details, like gondola making an appearence in the background, the boomer guy being the only one that gladly hangs around with aussies and jews, NPCs being the target of current TV ads, the "ben garrison" graffiti, Vice City police being Snacks and moot (probably because it's set in the past) etc
I may be overthinking it but it doesn't look like silly faces randomly put on game footage, it seems like a little bit of thought went into this
