Takaki left Marvelous, and is now working with Cygames and on a new multimedia project (with a game published by Marvelous, funnily enough). He's still involved with Senran Kagura, but 7EVEN's production status is a mystery.

In terms of playability, yes. The story and characters were all twice as verbose while having half as much to say. Slightly better action but significantly worse VN.

One of the reasons of it bombing was releasing on the same week/month as a Monster Hunter title.

I mean, I guess but it's also incredibly easy to cheese thanks to how SGH stories are implemented. It probably has the smoothest control of the series but it's a rollercoaster of highs and lows.

The new anime has a brief cut in of him at the Yoma site holding a sword. We don't see him use it, but we can guess he's effective in swordplay.

Is Burst Renewal any good? I liked Shinovi but Estival felt too slow and clunky for my liking. And the setting and story for Estival was fucking trash.

The combat is more like Shinovi while having the arguably best setting and story of the series.

It still has a similar feel to EV, but somewhat faster. If you never played the original Burst on 3ds then you might like it, though having less characters in the base game, and even with dlc included it's kind of a downgrade if you care about that.
