Basically each character class story has two major “arcs” detailing their rise to power and then a major conflict with a powerful rival of some sort.
In the warrior storyline the second arc has your master, a legendary strategist, betray you because he’s paranoid of both your rising power and the fact that you are the only one who knows about the sith taboos he broke to get to power.
His new apprentice hunts you throughout the second arc and every time you beat him he seemingly gets killed only to come back with more cybernetic enhancements. If I remember right you stab him with a lightsaber, throw him out of a several thousand story starship hangar, throw him out an airlock, and dunk him in a vat of acid before he finally goes down the fifth and final time.

Well, kinda ruins the surprise but old game anyway:
Disciples 2, in the legions of the damned (demons) campaign.
Basically their demon god was the final boss of the first game and the legion in despair is deceived by a high-ranked demon lord (Astaroth) into thinking that their dark lord is resurrecting in the body of the lost son of the human empire (Uther). In reality they are both using you and Uther was leeching off their dead god.
In retrospect maybe I should have been more wary cause early on a no-name demon says that we are being deceived and is promptly slain by Astaroth, but then again its demons, you expect power-struggles and whatnot.
Unfortunately the sequel was casualized from what I hear. Cant have difficulty in a game. I wonder how much this shit played into it
