They never had one.
Every Kirby game is the same shit with maybe minor alterations here and there. You can literally sell them as level packs and there would be no difference.

>Planet Robobot is mysteriously missing

>bottom row is mysteriously only stage 1

at least AM was good

You left robobot out for a reason

I think Adventure is the best.

Attached: 1532972462350.png (1280x840, 498K)

As much as I wanna be a contrarian shitter, I gotta agree with faggot op. I couldnt really tell the bottom three apart without titles.

False. Robobot exists, too.

yes, op, i too am capable of cherrypicking in order to whine that games are bad.

Attached: soulkirby.png (770x209, 258K)

Robobot and Triple Deluxe are both great games, don't fool yourself OP.

to be fair, all three of those games are extremely easy to tell apart even if you show the first level from each and the biggest "appeal" of kumazaki's games is the "lore" on the pause screens and having every final boss be an eldritch abomination

what do you guys think of amazing mirror?

The series went from passion projects to sequels for brand recognition. That's not to say games like Triple Deluxe or Planet Robobot are bad or outright soulless, but Star Allies only got recognition because of the free post-launch DLC, because otherwise it was being criticized by pretty much everyone as a by-the-numbers game besides the little lore bits only diehard fans paid attention to.

There's still devs that want passion for Kirby and you can see the hints of it between the cracks, but they need to stretch their legs out. Star Allies honestly was probably a test bed for going full HD with the Switch.

>tfw you can't argue with bait
But just so you know, that's not Shinichi Shimomura. Well, that's his name, but he's not the Kirby director.
Also add Sakurai's games above Shimomura's.

Attached: 1556730542751.png (720x447, 187K)

There differences are graphical limitations
Also op only posted tutorial levels
And unironically thinks soul vs souless is valid.

I don't know anyone who liked kirby games.

Triple Deluxe was the worst one though

this isn't about the retarded soul vs. soulless bullshit, kumazaki mainline games are just minimum effort in almost every regard, and i wouldn't even be that bothered by it if they didn't also open the floodgates for EPIC LORE meaningless sophistry

>to be fair, all three of those games are extremely easy to tell apart
the newer games are visually distinct too if you look beyond the first level.

Nigga

Dreamland starts things

Adventure introduces copy holy shit what a change

DL2 brings in animals which are like vehicles/alternate characters, and change your abilities. Also starts the secret collection trend.

Superstar gives each power multiple attacks, has a very unique structure with the different games (some of which have very unique rules, like the cave and milky way ones) and arguably the most creative and fun coop system in videogames

DL3 is kinda lame all it’s really got going for it is being pretty

64 simplifies things but has power mixing

Amazing mirror is a fucking metroidvania

Up until squeak squad the series was pretty damn innovative

But I like them...yarn is the only shit one.

Sakurai's game is better than both

I like how you purposely left out Robobot

TOP SHIT
BOTTOM ALSO SHIT

Super star is literally the only good kirby game

All Kirby fans are either women or underage.

The only reason a non-Kirby fan could tell these apart is resolution and HUD. I don't play the more recent games because i'm a tightwad on money, and I can recognize each one simply by knowing which game is which, but your post is a case where you could probably swap those levels between games and nothing would look or seem amiss for it. Hell, the Triple Deluxe shot looks more "artificial" than the Robobot shot, only the health bar gives away the truth.

Why do people have an issue with the "lore" if for the most part it's something you actively have to look for?

Kirby series was ambitious before getting NSMB-ified.

>64 simplifies things but has power mixing
To be fair it also brought full 3D presentation and actual honest to god cutscenes with a real plot that weren't either still images or characters doing basic motions on level bits. I'd say that stands out.

When that’s the case I take zero issue with it, but recently games are making more use of text dialog and exposition focused cutscenes.

Old games would have a few short scenes but could convey everything they needed to succinctly and nonverbally.

It’s fun to have eldritch shit as bosses or be hinted at, but when a cult leader is giving some speech about summoning the ancient one and kirby is standing next to him it just doesn’t seem to gel.

I’d love a kirby game thats full on about dark monstrosities for enemies instead of waddle dees 90% of the game. I just wish more was conveyed solely in-game, cause kirby used to be much better at that sort of thing.

Yeah that wasnt meant to be a knock against 64. Simplification isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s a nice mellow game to play around in.

Arguably the most atmospheric and that’s worth a ton, but I was just talking strictly gameplay.

nsmb is far worse off in terms of rehashing than the newer kirby games. they're not allowed to deviate from the formula one bit because of miyamoto. nsmb will never produce anything on the level of planet robobot.

A new kirby metroidvania never ever

Attached: 1537043462111.jpg (240x229, 6K)

The whole copy ability system combined with Kirby being able to fly everywhere worked so well for a metroidvania, why the fuck have they not tried it again

i mean, people shit on stuff like this, but i'd still easily take kirby's DEEP LORE over mario's bland sterile formula or sonic's "baldy mcnosehair."

Anyone else prefers the items in Return to Dreamland over the Friend Formations in Star Allies? You know, like the canon, spiked Mario 3 boot, candle, magical shield. Something that any player can use rather than forcing a team thing that only Player 1 controls.

Attached: spik.png (918x819, 161K)

Amazing mirror atmosphere was great as fuck, the music in the hub was awesome

>and having every final boss be an eldritch abomination
Shimomura’s bosses involved monsters fighting you with their own blood before tearing their eye and an angel that cries tears of blood, but you want to rag on a Queen Bee for being Eldritch?

Fair enough although I do like that the newer characters have more of a personality to them
What does you browsing reddit and seeing a Kirby theory have to do with the game itself? The lore gets people talking about the game more.

I love Robobot, it's like my fifth favorite Kirby game, but I like Shimomura's design philosophy more than Kumazaki's. Shimomura tried limiting Kirby's abilities to make it more of a strict platformer, and he had the level layout, enemy patterns, and enemy placement layed out really well so that you need to put more effort into your approach. Abilities tend to be a lot more varied between them, with some being pretty hard to master, some being unorthodox, and some being really easy fo use, making player preference and experimentation one of the biggest factors of the game. He also tried punishing flight. In DL3 you don't carry your momentum when puffing out air, making flight more of a gamble. So you would need to prioritize navigating through running, jumping, kicking, and attacking over flying over the levels. In K64 Kirby has limited flight, which was a huge positive influence on level design.
The collectables are also really fun. They can be a bit hit or miss in DL2/DL3, but the Crystal Shards are consistently a lot of fun to collect. The collectables are way too easy in Kumazaki games and they tend to gate you off from progressing if you don't want them, whereas in Shimomura games you can get to the end without getting any of them, but collecting them gets you a better ending. Kumazaki creates more of a guided experience, while Shimomura prioritizes player choice.
Then there's atmosphere, where Shimomura does something COMPLETELY different from both Sakurai and Shimomura. Kirby's world feels like a childhood memory. The visuals can feel surreal and grounded at the same time. It's soft, minimal, and very dreamlike. There's a tinge of melancholy and wistfulness you can feel throughout your adventure. There are characters like Gooey and Adeleine, who seem like different kinds of kids that Kirby would just like being friends with. It's still goofy, and Kirby himself is still a goofy kid, but it also feels more emotional.
I'd also go into more detail but I can't fit

Attached: 1555713500865.png (235x177, 87K)

>amazing mirror
Based

The thing is, they tried to build the game around multiplayer, but the friend abilities usually lead to the other players letting one player do the work and with work i mean pressing one button.
Ironically, Return to Dreamland was a more fun multiplayer game despite (or maybe because) not being primarily designed with multiplayer in mind

only two of them, and they worked better since you had no idea they were coming, whereas newer games beat you over the head with foreshadowing, they also try to make the boss fights such a huge spectacle that you stop caring about the weirdness altogether

What if they made a Kirby game where you can choose your Copy style, between Super Star powers or Crystal Shard fusion

Best Kirby since superstar. They haven't made one on it's level since

Those were a remnant from GCN, which is why they feel like a fun natural inclusion and why we haven't seen something like that again.

Triple Deluxe

Nobody liked Kirby's Epic Yarn so they just started doing super formulaic shit instead.

I think it works because DL2 is kind of a surprise, but DL3 and K64 are built around the true antagonist. Instead of going "WHAO WHAT A SURPRISE THAT'S THE REAL VILLAIN" they instead choose to make their presence apparent and obvious from the beginning and reinforce it throughout the game. That's the difference. The villains are shocking, but not twists that come out of nowhere. They're resolutions to the story that the game opens on.

Just choosing would be a bit weird, but if the former is kirby and the latter is gooey then that’d be a fun way to differentiate them.

It sold better than RtDL and the changes made to Extra Epic Yarn to make it more of a generic Kirby game were not well-recieved. Maybe Epic Yarn wasn't GCN, but as we would later find out, neither was RtDL.

Goddamn Dreamland 3 is a good as fuck videogame

I'd say it's a toss up between. It and Star Allies. TD had the most annoying, gameplay interrupting press X to win segments, but Star Allies has meh level design. If it weren't for the DLC, people would care far less for it.

Besr is definitely Robobot because the main gimmick didn't disrupt the gameplay it make replaying it annoying. The only way to replay TD is Dedede mode because it has no Hypernova segments.

>Okay Yea Forums pitch us your new Kirby game since you think your so great?

Why are you whining about how soulless Kirby is NOW?
You should have been complaining about it during the Robobot days.

>Analog movement; No run button
>Move the camera wherever you want to
>For powers, each unused face button uses different attacks, for multi-move abilities to translate to 3D
>Limited flight, like 64
>Levels are designed both vertically and horizontally with flight in mind, they should be big playgrounds with plenty to accomplish, branches, and a few "end" points
>Some returning locations. DL1/2/3's, KA's, and SS's locations should be the template of bringing Dream Land to life
>KDL3-tier and Epic Yarn-tier side/background characters that behave like NPCs in OoT or Shenmue, to make the word feel alive and to open up side-goal potential. Kirby's world is full of cute characters, it would be nice to have meaningful interactions with them
>Dedede, Meta Knight, Adeleine, The Squeaks, DL1 bosses, and more can be found and interacted with in the game if you know where to look, and can have missions and story focused on them, but main focus is on new elements
>Kirby's color scheme changes with certain powers, other powers turn him that orange-pink from Super Star
>Multi-move abilities
>The original 3 DL2 friends are key parts of the game
>Rick: Quicker running, immunity to slippery surfaces, wall-jumps, but you're a bigger target with less precise attacks
>Coo: Good maneuverability in the air, and you can go higher and stay in the air longer, but it's more difficult and demanding to control and again you're a bigger target. Slower than Kirby on the ground.
>Kine: Makes swimming fast and easy, his powers are strong, but he's clumsy and weaker on land. Jumps well enough though
>Around Super Star's amount of copy abilities, the ones that are in the game can be leveled up several times and moves for abilities can be unlocked, augmented, and/or upgraded as you progress
>Bonus hats/weapons, house decorations, and color spray cans (including standard pink if you don't want him changing colors with abilities) can be found in treasure chests throughout the game

Don't you mean Triple Deluxe

How about both?

sauce?

I don't remember. I think that was Meta's reaction to losing a gameshow if you need context.

>I think that was Meta's reaction to losing a gameshow if you need context.
What type of gameshow? Please tell me it's not porn?

The same artstyle was used across Nightmare in Dreamland, Amazing Mirror, and Squeak Squad. Sticking to that singular style allowed for interesting exploration into different faces of kirby, and I'd argue the same was done for RtD, TDX, and Robobot, it just stagnated with the ally formula which really did not add in any significant way. The game was also way too short, coupled with how easy it was made an altogether poor experience.

>a Game Boy, SNES, and N64 don't look similar
>a Wii, 3DS, and Switch game look similar
What an absolute fucking surprise OP

It's not porn, you mental defect.

the reason being that it was incredibly soulful, only for them to double back to soullessness with Star Allies for some fucktarded reason

>Sticking to that singular style allowed for interesting exploration into different faces of kirby
So why didn't it? The best they could come up with are gimmicks that are so uncohesive they need to be stuck in dedicated sections.

Never? I thought the nu-Kirby games were still pretty good, and creative.

Just give me an optional hard mode that really delivers and I’ll start buying kirby again. I want true arena difficulty in world one, I want a kirby game that has so many enemies and hazards on screen that it feels like a bullet hell or metal slug game. I want a kirby game that will kick the ass of people who have played kirby for over a decade.

An easy mode too, of course. I recognize that needs to be there.

It just takes more than lore to keep me invested in kirby. Havent played any since the wii cause they all look samey and simple and just sorta braindead. Actually force me to get gud with powers and strategize against waves of encroaching enemies, make a kirby like that and I am all in. Would prefer 2D artstyle but that’s not that important.

Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad are Flagship Kirby
SSU is Sakurai+Kumazaki
Nobody's really thinking about Canvas curse or Mass attack

When can we get worlds like this again?

Attached: 1466667168436.webm (440x360, 2.87M)

I love Robobot and I can't call it particularly soulful. It's fun, it's interesting, it's epic, but Kumazaki isn't a director that was hired for his vision or hid passion. He was hired because he's a very efficient director and can make the most out of a minimal development cycle. It's consistently good, but not soulful. That's just a symptom of how expensive it is to make games now.

Y'know I kinda miss borbposting only just a bit of it but then I realize because of un-controlled borbposting they evolved into borbfuckers which caused shitfests like she-who-shall-not-be-named to be created truly worst timeline.
Also could someone give me a sauce of what episode pic-related came from?

Difficulty Select

Reminder that this was a Shimomura game and it was cancelled because he died.

I wish Superstar got rom hacks, that game is so perfect.

You had me until the ability upgrades.
I think that would just screw with the nature of Kirby games.
Kirby games were never about progression and leveling and more about adapting to the levels on the fly with whatever is floating around you.

>Nobody's really thinking about Canvas curse or Mass attack

Well there’s a distinction between mainline and spin off.

Speaking of which, how is that golf game on snes? Was always kinda interested in that one.

Why does the only picture that disturbs me have to be the one where Kirby has nipples?

>DURR SAME ARTSYLE BAD

I bet you thought Epic Yarn and Rainbow curse were 10/10

its really fun with friends since the gameplay is all about fucking them over

Meta Knight should at least get a spinoff game like Blowout Blast or something, if not a full game

Attached: Dr7NRjJXgAI4av-.jpg (720x634, 39K)

That's a fair point but what I have in mind is a different kind of Kirby experience, I want to see the series evolve. I don't know if that phylosophy would work quite as well in a grand 3D adventure unless you add in a LOT of abilities with some being rather situational. Just being stronger isn't the goal of upgrading abilities, the goal is to be able to use them in different ways and interact with the world in different ways.

Attached: 1446179621816.jpg (644x526, 267K)

desu user, I barely understand half of fucking all of these like, how does one get off to heights or traveling it doesn't make sense. The only one that creeps me out is menophilia and autoneppiophilia. Though not gonna lie this image was my first fap.

Not him and I agree with you, but I would kinda like another metroidvania, but one that uses the milkyway wishes power collection mechanic. That’s really the most progression I’d like to see in a kirby game though.

Epic Yarn was but Rainbow Curse was kind of a snooze. Canvas Curse is better.

>he's mad that he can't get kirby on his console.

What does that mean?

horrid bait, that doesn't even make sense

This thread has made me look into the Staff of Kirby games. It's pretty interesting how long some of these developers have been on the Kirby team

Attached: Zero burst.jpg (1199x538, 55K)

>Sakurai was the creator of the series and always strived to do something different and unique with each game
>Shimomura was a level designer that got to make games because he was so inspired by the series he pitched his own projects, even when Sakurai was right there still making Kirby games too
>Kumazaki is a cleanup guy that had to make the most "consistent" and "economic" Kirby games possible because Hal fell apart without Sakurai and Shimomura there to steer the ship
I mean it's gotta be hard being Kumazaki. Nowadays unless your game is an assured 10m+ seller, you have to make your games with economics above inspiration and experimentation. He's clearly a big fan of the Kirby series but he either can't or won't just commit to making a Kirby game that's really his own, really unique and different.

Who's been on the dev team longest now? Kenichiro Kita?

I would love if they did that wherr kirby explores a mansion and you could use abilitys effects to change the environment (you stand on a platform with fire ability causing the entire mansion to become a volcano)

You can talk when there's a "Kirby Odyssey" or "Kirby Mania"

Attached: bouns.gif (540x304, 447K)

There’s really no telling how much of that is him and how much is just design by committee that he’s forced to obey. Could be on him or others, no telling how things work internally.

Everything by nintendo besides botw has felt very ‘safe’. Kirby is just another part of that, albeit he’s been that way for a while now.

Attached: 1555952124619.gif (225x225, 348K)

What's your opinion on human characters?

Attached: b9959370d6899782e587a46621cc93b0.jpg (517x574, 33K)

Not needed.
Get rid of them.

CharacterS?

There’s more than one?

because that would take a lot of effort, is easier just to remake springe breeze every title with minor changes and drop levels with no connection between them.
Amazing Mirror couldnt be done today with nu hall, its one of the most complex 2D exploration games ever made.

Not him, but I'd argue that Sectonia also had a bit of foreshadowing when you enter the first stage of the last world.

i dont care about races or gender, is the character interesting? thats the real question.

I haven’t played any nukirby cause I really didnt like the wii one.

Which is the best of them? Star Allies is finished with dlc right?

I think “why the fuck is there one human in this setting” is an interesting question, and one which will and should never be answered.

Adeleine is the only human character in the main series, so I don't see it as an issue. The very few evidence that I can see some form of humanity actually existing within the universe are crossover cameos like Samus, or the Shiver Star speculation, but they're probably all dead.

>dude apocaliptic setting lmao
We dont even know what kirby is supposed to be yet.

Post game Star Allies is by far the best out of all of the modern games, but the main game is really dull and barebones. Planet Robobot is usually regarded as the best modern game overall.

Ado is blessed by not only dodging the one time she could have been the expository support human to Kirby's nonhuman MC but also being a decent "fighter" being the second art to life character. I just now realize super powered artist is a pretty common thing in the Kirby universe.

post more ados

Jun Ishikawa and Hitoshi Kikkawa have the most seniority with Dream Land as their first title.
Kenchiro Kita, Hirokazu Ando, Tetsuya Abe, Hiroaki Suga, and Shigeru Hashiguchi are other notable ones. With Shigeru though he only pops up sometimes for "team support" nowadays instead of being a stable chief CG/character designer like he was for the Shimomura and non-DL1 Sakurai mainlines
What surprised me is how new Yuki Endo is to the crew, I have no idea why I assumed they were from pre-wii era. Riki Furhmann is another one that rose to become the director of their department at a breakneck pace

Attached: Riki Furhmann art.webm (600x300, 825K)

Adeleine is a good kid and I love her. ONE human being an alien on Pop Star is a very good idea especially with the atmosphere and storytelling Shimomura went for. If there were several humans it would be a bad idea, but she ends up being just a unique and lovable addition to the cast. Shimomura clearly put a lot of effort into developing her beyond just being a human kid, too. She's a really natural addition to the cast despite being so different, she doesn't overshadow Kirby or Dedede, and she makes a really good foil to Kirby, Dedede, and Waddle Dee. I would argue that she is just as good a character as Meta Knight but for completely different reasons.

Attached: 1613383_p0.jpg (680x550, 152K)

desu Adeleine should've been the token human in KRBAY

We know that the inhabitants of Shiver Star evacuated their planet long ago because they couldn't cope with the Snowball Earth coming about. We know that Pop Star is on the edge of the Milky Way, but so is Earth, so Pop Star could be either relatively close or astronomically far away from Earth. What we don't know is where the inhabitants of Earth went. We don't know how long ago they evacuated. We don't know how a single human, a child, made came to live in Dream Land. But the best part is we don't NEED to know that. Adeleine's addition to the series just helps Dream Land feel more like a land of dreams.

Could've been a good contrast to Tiff. Adeleine can actually win over Dedede and become his friend, and she treats Kirby as an equal friend. Tiff however is always suspicious of Dedede and dislikes him, and she treats Kirby like a baby. Adeleine could have been a good presence on the show. She also lives in a palace in the clouds rather than a house in town, and lord knows that show needed more locations and adventuring.

>just helps Dream Land feel more like a land of dreams.
Yeah that’s an important point that shouldn’t be lost in the pursuit of lorefagging

I remember watching sometimes as a kid and consistently being disappointed how few characters from the games there were, and how infrequently most characters that were from the games showed up.

Tiff only exists because Sakurai didn't want a token human in K:RBY, never mind that Tiff encapsulates all of the pitfalls of the token human

I think the Kirby Anime would've been way better if it didn't bother creating it's own canon and instead built off of what was already established in the games.
>Instead of Kirby being a literal babby, he could've had a real personality and intelligence
>Meta Knight is no longer an exposition dump borb, instead a rival to Kirby
>Tiff and Tuff should be wiped from existence. Kirby should go solo but occasionally have an Animal Buddy, Waddle Dee, or Adeleine to substitute the forced-in kids
>King Dedede is perfect. Escargoon can stay too

>Adeleine is the only one Dedede treats with respect and care
>treats her as if she was his daughter/younger sister
>Adeleine genuinely likes Dedede and thinks he's cool as hell and treats Tiff with little respect and tolerates her due to her "constant nagging" and has a rival relationship
>thinks Escargoon is super smart and slightly cool too
>Episode where it's her birthday and KDD goes overboard turning the castle upside down and perfecting it for the ultimate birthday by ordering a birthday 'monster'
>Episode where she starts a art competition between her and Tiff, letting Dedede know about her super cool power only for Tiff to misunderstand and think she was a evil villain Dedede summoned
>Generally hangs around the forest and weird places for inspiration as a character gag
fuck I never knew I needed this
What would the Kirby Anime be like if they included more characters, give me your episode ideas.

> Defending Adoloser

Go away, Smashfag.

Attached: adelete.gif (540x540, 37K)

That sounds very cute and hanging out in random, weird places to draw them sounds perfect for her. I think it would make sense for Dedede and Escargoon to treat her as an annoying intruder or tagalong until we get to that point of accepting and lover her though. Adeleine could have helped Dedede lighten up a bit if the show continued after Nightmare.

>Adeleine's addition to the series just helps Dream Land feel more like a land of dreams
I'm glad somebody said it, adding something recognizable actually works to make a fantastical world more magical, doubly so because she isn't like most token humans that only exist to point out how "totally weird" it is that non-humans do non-human things

Attached: Ado and friends.jpg (1190x708, 87K)

DL3 was pretty soulless. The aesthetic decisions didn't make up for the objectively worse-controlling Kirby, over-reliance on dull auto-scrollers, and garbage minigames.

Attached: adodra.png (256x207, 59K)

>still mad that the memory games were too hard for him
They all start off very easy so you know exactly how to play it, and the next rounds ramp up to a sensible challenge.
Also Kirby controls fine. What you don't like is that floating over everything is punishing.

I think she works well mostly because she is the only one there is, if she is actually a normal human or not is up in the air, but her humanoid form actually makes her feel alien in the setting, all we really know for sure is that she is mysterious ( like a lot of things in Popstart ) and that she isn’t a native

Attached: 1464495084638.jpg (1280x1583, 1.2M)

tbf Kirby's air speed really made him feel worse than he has to be. I remember seeing a patch posted in these threads before, but I don't know where to find it.

They should just fucking suck it up and make the switch to 3D already.
It's stagnant as ALL hell.

Build it off the Mario 3D World system where you're mostly snapped to the 8 cardinal directions, and level design is built around this with mostly linearity and some side paths/secrets.

Swap out or adapt the existing powers into having more distinctive modes of mobility.

Attached: remake_W2.jpg (1816x3472, 1.32M)

This will never not piss me off. It's like he made that rule SPECIFICALLY to shun Adeleine out.

Attached: 2381.png (208x213, 15K)

If Star Allies got a price cut to, like... $40 it would be great. But it's first party, so that will never happen.

>Build it off the Mario 3D World system where you're mostly snapped to the 8 cardinal directions, and level design is built around this with mostly linearity and some side paths/secrets.
It's that exact limited mindset that has caused every attempt at transitioning Kirby to 3D to fail.

It wasn't, the rule felt more as a reaction to the alien/human partner that were common in shows back then like pic related. It still didn't help the issue though.

Attached: 631dcdd2-b515-4168-8cf2-0e2b57d42dc6.jpg (780x520, 197K)

It was exactly that. Sakurai has a fucking retarded hateboner for anything he didn't make in the Kirby series.
I hate to bring Smash into these threads, but it's a pretty good place to look on this.

Attached: 1556827450032.png (2203x2424, 3.62M)

I don't think that's it. Sakurai just didn't want the Kirby anime to become Doraemon or Digimon, where he's a cute mascot that befriends by regular kids on Earth. Adeleine isn't a regular kid on Earth, she's a Kirby character, but as a human that just happened to cut her out. Not that Adeleine would have appeared anyway. Gooey didn't, Pitch didn't, Chuchu didn't, Acro didn't, etc. Only Rick, Kine, and Coo made it in that show.

Imagine being this retarded

YOU HAVE MUSIC AND SPIRITS DUMBFUCK, STOP BEING ENTITLED YOU SCUM

Tons of other series didn't get shit, yet you complain about this? Fuck off you manchild

>the manga
You can't just say the manga, Kirby has over 50 different series for god knows what reason and not 1 made it to the west because Viz is a shit also where's the Action/Adventure comic? 50 of them and they're all heavy parody/gag, slice of life comedy, or a 4koma

Attached: Zero-tachi.jpg (1433x933, 264K)

I question this to myself as well. That new one that came out for the switch was so forgetable I don't even remember any of the stages.

Where did you get that picture of Shimomura? I thought I destroyed all of them.

Attached: dodging the question like it's the fucking matrix.png (673x125, 9K)

That’s true, there are so many different Kirby related stuff one can’t simply take one as the main one or anything like that, I do like some of it because is cute

I've just noticed that Flagship, funded by Capcom, made both The Amazing Mirror and Minish Cap. I wonder if there's some sort of reason why they decided to do GBA titles of major Nintendo franchises.

>weird places to draw them sounds perfect for her. I think it would make sense for Dedede and Escargoon to treat her as an annoying intruder or tagalong until we get to that point of accepting and lover her though.
Now I can imagine a part of a episode has Escargoon opening a cabinet, only to screech as Adeleine 's head peers out of the cabinet and she just replies with a "Oh hey, Es! I was just trying to draw this pretty neat crack I found in this cabinet, it looks like ancient painting heheh" and about 20 episodes in almost everyone in the castle is used to it even Meta Knight makes a comment on how she almost beats even him at this skill.
I kinda wanna go on more about this idea

One of the earliest, and the longest running Kirby manga of course. Dedede de Pupupu na Monogatari. It is mostly a gag manga but it also tells some cohesive stories, has some funny action scenes, and utilizes the characters very well (think a tone similar to the first issue of Dragon Ball).
People at Archie wanted to make a Kirby comic several years ago, and it looked like it would have been a lot of action and adventure, but Nintendo said no.

Attached: dedededepupupu12.png (166x221, 78K)

>so we revamped the stage from the game I didn't make into a stage from a game I... I mean Kumazaki directed

Attached: carrot.jpg (742x493, 51K)

>Archie wanted to make a Kirby comic several years ago, and it looked like it would have been a lot of action and adventure, but Nintendo said no.
Damn it this probably would've been the first english comic.

Pretty much all Nintendo franchises have lost their soul besides main console Zelda games and 3D Mario. They all seem pretty sterile and "safe", Super Mario Party being the most recent offender I've played.

I don't really believe that assumption as it wasn't that bad before. There were many DL2/3, and 64 references in the anime, but didn't use many major characters like Dark Matter, Gooey, or Adeleine. The same could be said for Super Star as NOVA, Marx, the Meta Knights, or Captain Vul weren't used.

What you say is correct.

The pace of the game is very slow and just about everything cancels all previous momentum. Pretty sure even any midair midair attack while stop all horizontal movement. Moving around just doesn’t feel good and that’s a big problem.

I like you, you captured my feelings and thoughts very well here.

Once a team is familiar with certain hardware it made sense for them to keep doing similar projects. That’s my guess.

Might have also been someone on the team pushing for it to happen.

I'd say Kirby's ground movement felt very fluid and thanks to his Adventure's slide attacks and a better hitbox detection for his headbutt attack, generally controlled a lot better than any other Kirby game. Also you can see a major difference between his walk and run speed and actually feels a lot faster when he's running. His initial jump also feels pretty good like his Super Star counterpart. The only thing that does ruins his control is him flying in the air, and it's a major issue that needed to be fixed.

What does that say?

Post more cute and funny Adeleine

Usually people are referring to that one from Coro Coro when they say "the manga", but yeah there's a shit ton of other ones out there. Like countless 4koma ones, which I prefer more.

Also here's the 4koma one from 64. mediafire.com/file/gwjc5l5f7i20em9/Kirby_64_4Koma_Manga_ver_1.0.zip/file Sorry for the shitty phone pics for all of them. My scanner's from 2007 so the software for it was shoah'd. God literally doesn't want proper scans of these.

Are you referring to how exhaling cancels your momentum? That's actually an intentional design choice meant to punish/limit flight, but earlier on in the game it can feel pretty clunky. There is a patch that disables that. Shimomura later found a better way of doing that in Kirby 64, and I think it's weird they didn't keep using that since it opened up a lot of doors for level design.

I wish I knew, I only save it because it was cute, most of the manga pages I have are from twitter or some random user post

Masahiro Sakurai created the series, Shimomura OP's picture is not Shimomura and him went back and forth when it came to directing games.
Kumazaki is the promoted fanboy that's been directing since 2008

How is that not nice?

It's the author reading fanmail and answering questions about how Adeleine and Ribbon are portrayed

Ado eyes are thanks to star allies canonically purple, right? At least right now, before her reveal, it was never clear what was the proper eye color, it didn’t help that her render and model in Kirby 64 had different eyes colors

Yup, precisely that. Also he loses all momentum in the air when he puffs himself in the air unlike in Adventure and even in the original Dreamland. It sucks.

Iirc her eyes were kinda grayish on her model in 64. I liked that more than her current eye color but it's no big deal or anything as long as we get her in another game.

>we could have had Archie comics instead of being forced to jerk Zero and the GSA parts of the anime for 10 straight years
It's not fucking fair bros...

Attached: Archie Kirby.jpg (564x800, 149K)

Is flying ever necessary in that game? I just play as Rick. But if you like flying there's also Coo.

That sounds intriguing, even though I know nothing of their personalities in said manga, does it say anything interesting??

The thing is her eyes were also green, it was never really consistent

Attached: 124241244.png (444x325, 164K)

Well, even if it did happen, it would be dead by now anyway after Sonic killed Archie, and Archie decided they'd rather edge-ify their comics and make Archie crossover with whatever generic horror movie they decided to watch that week.

Attached: 1543446937768.png (950x800, 1.58M)

Rarely, but reducing his air game like that really dampers Kirby's gameplay especially if you're not bothering with any of the animal friends. Nago is still my favorite animal friend though.

tiff was yet another example of sakurai not understanding why people liked kirby. people were watching the kirby anime to see kirby, not to watch a mary sue donut steel who isn't even in any of the games boss kirby around.
sakurai really needed to just man up and let kirby talk. avalanche already set the precedent that kirby can talk and is quite the shit-stirrer. a good kirby anime would have used that to its advantage.

Honestly yes, as much as I like Return to Dreamland I would have loved to see Kirby GCN to be fully realized.

You can say that for most of Nintendo, especially Miyamoto who can't seem comprehend that some people like actual stories with their games

I wouldn't mind a successor to 64 if they made the game faster and a bit harder. Navigating levels in Crystal Shards was a slog because of how sluggish Kirby was.

Pretty cool. Multi-player is fun, using powers to buttfuck your friends. It has a hard mode after you beat the game that sends you back through all the courses, but with parts of the layout changed around. And the best/craziest part is, every single course has a way to get a hole in one as a giant puzzle where you figure out the exact setup for that first shot and use the powers you pick up on the way to keep going.

Sort of a cross between Super Star and Amazing Mirror.
>game starts out a lot like Kirby 1
>after beating that section you're introduced to the metroidvania hub game
>progress through this and some boss(es) opens a door to the next straight-forward stage based game
>secret buttons in side worlds unlock ability statues in the hub section
>bring back basically all the abilities
>not all of them can be found in every branch game, but assuming you don't get hit you can take them through the hub to ones you normally can''t find them in - may lead to massive shortcuts or secrets you can't reach otherwise
>some powers work differently in some branches
>side adventures heavily make use of alternate pathing so that the power you have will determine how you go through a level
>bring back secret doors that aren't blatantly outlined, just barely hinted at(add door finding to Thief power)
>start out with three hits, gets upgraded to six over course of game
>end of stage minigame prizes ditch points and replace them with a choice to power switch, a small HP restore, a perfect gets a tomato - 1ups removed and made rare, secret things in levels
>don't restore HP after beating a stage otherwise(other than when you beat a branch boss and are returned to the hub)
>incorporate aspects of Great Cave Offensive into the hub too

Legit question here: what do you guys like on the Kirby series? Every time I try to play those games, I get bored of how easy it is. Not only that, but it's kinda slow. You are too overpowered and the level design doesn't complement Kirby's abilities, since you can fly and all. Are there any levels like "Bramble Blast" from DKC2 on Kirby? That would fit him, I guess.

Play the original gameboy game on hard mode (you play on hard by entering a simple code on the title screen). Its actually pretty damn tough.

Sounds like you haven't gotten any far in any of them. Kirby games tend to be easy at the start, but after the first world they start bringing in more elaborate obstacles, level design, and puzzles. The whole "You can fly over everything" starts to kind of become a meme when you realize most levels include either a crapload of anti-air obstacles, ceilings, or require more than just getting to the end of the screen.

Simple. King Dedede used a beta version of his Kirby creator/copier from Battle Royale, however this wasn't a fully perfected version the Kirbys that came out were weird looking or slightly deformed they had their suck power however could not absorb powers and in general were pretty fuckin useless to the King. However instead of killing them Dedede felt pity and released them most of them died in the wild due to being either weak or deformed to the point where they would just fall over and died in a more easier term they were unstable both mentally and physically. The ones that did survive roamed the lands discovering new worlds many people more so Waddle Dees dubbed Batamons after the machine code they used and how un-canny they looked. tl;dr Deformed clones of Kirb

Kirby's appeal as franchise doesn't come from its challenge barring a few post-game modes.
The appeal is it's a comfy game with cute characters, with sprinkles of genuinely interesting lore.

If that doesn't meet your fancy then maybe the series just isn't for you.

Attached: 1550980505979.png (761x617, 347K)

Kirby games are intended for anyone to be able to finish with allowing younger/less experienced players to fly over obstacles.

Personally I enjoy the overall aesthetics of the series with the cutesy, dream-like settings that occasionally throw in mechanical or nightmare-ish stuff that's a sharp contrast. Usually it's a once-a-game thing but I loved the hell out of Planet Robobot for making the whole game be like that. Also the music is generally good too.

If SA taught us anything, it's that Hal never forgets The next game is gonna be something special, I can feel it

hi batamon

Robobot was great for a variety of reasons, one of them being it went full Sci-Fi and helped expand the universe in tangible ways

in an ideal world, we'd get an anime where kirby talks and is basically a male version of estelle bright personality-wise.

They even have the egg dude with the worst puzzle in Dream Land 3

i don't play kirby games for a challenge, i play them because everything else is god-tier. the gameplay loop, the aesthetics, the music, the characters, the lore - it's just consistently kino. it's the only platformer series that hasn't either turned to shit or taken a long hiatus.

I’d like this as well.

More because having that 6 hit limit felt more penalizing than the healthbar. In most healthbar games you’ll never die, but in ones like 64 or adventure if you’re just fucking around not really caring there’s at least a chance you’ll lose a life and have to restart at a checkpoint.

Single player.
Difficulties: Day Dream, Heavy Sleep, and Nightmare.
Focuses more on the action side than the platformer. More tight level design, Kirby's float is more limited. Smaller pool of copy abilities, but all have more developped movesets like Fighter has.
Enemies will be more abundant and hostile with and escalates across the worlds. So to speak, late-game DD would be early-game HS.
Challenges that make you play as DDD, MK, and BD. Some based on time trial stuff like RtDL, some being specific condition bosses like more dangerous arenas or fighting a midboss without taking damage. Beating their challenges unlocks them for main game and Arena.
Adeline is a mid-stage healer again.
Ribbon runs a tutorial menu.
Beating the game on Nightmare unlocks your EX stuff.
Nightmare returns as the true final boss. Phase 1 orb, phase 2 wizard, phase 3 is some new form more comparable to the kuzamaki brand.

I'm pretty sure Robobot isn't there because it would kill his "argument"

here's a Meta Knight metroidvania from many threads ago.
>Non-linear 2D platformer
>It starts with Meta Knight and the Meta-Knights travelling through the galaxy. They hear a call for help, from a unknown planet, and Meta Knight recognizes the stranger's voice. When they are about to get on the planet, the Battleship Halberd gets hit and falls on the planet's surface. When Meta Knight awakes, the battleship is destroyed, and all Meta-Knights have disappeared. Also, his sword, Galaxia, got weakened, and lost a lot of energy.
>Huge as fuck world, with many areas and interconected paths.
>You have to rescue every single Meta-Knight, so that they can fix the Halberd.
>It focuses mostly on him and his relationship with the Meta-Knights, and at the same time, it gives some small tidbits about borb's own past
>Game takes place on a different and hostile planet
>Instead of having a lifebar, you have hitpoints (since Meta Knight is in a weakened state)
>Enemies have a lifebar (similar to Amazing Mirror and SSBB). They also activelly try attacking you
>He'd have a limited moveset at first (limited to some slashes with his sword), but would regain his full moveset+boss moves by mid-game/end-game
>He'd also wouldn't have infinite jumps at the start of the game, because he's weakened as fuck. At the start of the game, he'd only have two jumps, even though Infinite jumps would be avaiable as an upgrade after defeating an end-game boss or something.
>Some bosses can be comboed, but also have insanely huge HPs and many attacks.
>All Meta-Knights are mini-bosses, once you defeat them, they'll return to the Battleship Halberd. They'd also be playable for multiplayer content, however, you'd have to unlock them first. Also, there's no upgrades for them, because they already have complete movesets.
>Many new bosses and some returning ones too. Some returning bosses include: Computer Virus, Heavy Lobster, Wham Bam Rock, Susie and Omega Metroid

I find it funny that despite never appearing in the Kirby anime, she's the only one to reference it in years.
Did she make it?

Speaking of which, did anyone here read the Epic Yarn book?

What if Tiff turned out to Ado's Mary Sue self-insert?

Speaking of novels...
WHEN THE FUCK ARE THEY GONNA RELEASE THEM TO ENGLISH AUDIENCES?!? I'm sorry but jesus you'd think Hallabs would at-least ask or give us a reason, I don't wanna force myself to learn moon just to read a couple of novels then never use it again. I don't have the patience...

Would be an 11/10 game with a few tweaks and online.

It's a shame we didn't get that or the Mario Comic, but at the same time I'm glad we were spared Penders.

Doubt it, Ado is pretty much a free spirit and a wandering painter, no to mention she is in really good odds with Dedede, I would have like to see a completely good character that actually liked him and maybe even advocates for him

Penders is the kind of magical bad that becomes extraordinary. I can only imagine what he’d try to do with kirby.

Are there no scans? I can’t imagine a kirby book has difficult language. I’m a total newfag to japanese and still drilling hiragana, but a kirby story shouldn’t exactly be difficult to translate.

It's a shame the entire western comic industry is basically on life support now.
Manga and webcomics are unicronically keeping it alive.

There’s nobody to blame for that except the comic industry itself.

>I can only imagine what he’d try to do with kirby.
Given Penders rips his shit off from other comics and Star Trek, he'd probably make the protag his OC and have Kirby act like a tribble

Morpho knight always makes me nostalgic for project m.

See Archie is only interested in crossing over Archie with Evil Dead and shit. Which while cute at first, has lost a lot of its novelty

So KRBAY.

Grand Theft Auto but on planet Pop-star.

Pretty much, but I imagine more obnoxious with "deep messages", and probably have Dedede and Meta Knight be full fledged psychopaths

Thank god for that, I like that void termina idea better though

That reminds me to check if that one user's made any progress on that.

Nice meme.

The language is elementary level, but the issue is that you're asking somebody to translate 200+ pages of Japanese just because. though if some translators want to work to divide and conquer a couple books i'm in

low demand, and light novels take a lot more work to translate than manga.

On that note, I scanned the pictures from the Robobot novel as promised in the last Kirby thread.

Im currently learning hiragana and cant read jap for shit. But I’m curious about grammar.

What about those pages is untranslatable?

The light novels tend to be their own thing, so Haltmann didn't get DELETED in that version of the story

Attached: D5kJUsRXkAcnnDm.jpg (1024x657, 92K)

If anyone wants to translate any of those scenes, I can scan the pages relevant to the scene.

I don't think it's worth the time uploading a 200 page light novel if nobody is going to translate it. The majority of the book is just walls of text, so it's meaningless without being able to read it unlike how it is with artbooks.

does Sectonia dies at the end of the Triple Deluxe storyline?

I can answer this one, Sectonia is already dead in the novels, the “Triple Deluxe” story is about Taranza going nuts about Sectonia possibly still being alive in the mirror thinking about it, they pretty much predicted Clash Deluxe

If you're interested someone is in the process of making an extra difficult version of the game and it does look really promising.

>no mention of nerfed floating to 5 jumps
>no 6 hp bars instead of the shitty kumazaki continous bar with the hidden casual defense boost below 25%

Its shit otherwise. Can someone please tell him to add that in? Just buffing the enemies won't do much, thats a common mistake most "Hard" modes in games make. Youre just making it more tedious, not challenging. I mean look at that fucking Waddle Doo? You think that shit would be fun, having to walk a mile away every time that thing tries to whip? And don't give me any of that bullshit that a nerfed float wont work with the game's level design, just add additional platforms.

Did you get the plush of him? Cause I did

Unfortunately no because the only place I can find Kirb plushes around here doesn't carry him. I was lucky enough to get Magolor like last month and Animal Kirby a few days ago.

Whispy looks so happy, these are so nice.

I feel that a 6hp health bar would just make boss attacks have less weight to it compared to a regular enemy that would also be able to do the same amount of damage to Kirby. Just balancing the damage output between each enemy attack and removing the emergency life support when he reaches critical health would be more better. The enemy design does seem cheap, personally I prefer the way DL1's Extra Mode handled it with faster enemies, and a new pattern each common enemy does while dealing more damage to you. Just update it to the Kumazaki design as each enemy could have multiple attack methods. As for the limiting Kirby's jump, personally I'm fine the current infinite jump. But if the guy does go with that method, I'd expect to see a different and better level design to match the limitations of flying in the air.

And the worst one
>oh I guess I can’t use that gag, oh well I guess I can just cut it.
>turns out the discussion from that point on is based around the gag

Also there's some things that might get lost in translation such as 's pic. Haltmann's saying "Yikes!" instead of "Savages!" in that screenshot, which would have been lost in the English version.

Some of these make me feel funny

he still says savages in the JP version, it’s just cut off before the end of the word so that it looks like he’s saying ヤバっ instead of ヤバン

>Kirby Twitter hasn’t posted in a week
I miss the mages already

That's what I was saying. The cut-off sentence translates to "Yikes!" which makes that screenshot funnier to those that can read Japanese. If it was from the English version instead, the joke would have been lost unless "Sav" is some hip new slang the youngsters have these days.

Ah, I understand what you mean

So are the game books darker or lighter than the actual games? I’m getting mixed messages

If you can't tell the difference between a 3DS game and a Wii game, odds are you're legally blind or a mega casual. Of course someone who isn't a fan can't tell it apart. Just like I can't tell the difference BLOPs 1 and BLOPs 2 levels. I know next to nothing about them aside from the fact that they are first person shooters and are part of the Call of Duty franchise.

>this was a Shimomura game

If Kirby absolutely can not bring the banter like this anymore, then it should go to Rick.

I wanna hear Rick's bants in that Australian accent.
>"That Kirby can drive a dingo dingy!"

Sounds like you started with a Kumazaki game. You need to start with the first game and play them by release order. The Dream Collection lays the first 6 out for you.

i wish archer made it to ksa
an imbueable ranged weapon would've been cool

Attached: file.png (1048x762, 1006K)

Sakurai tried to distance Kirby from that starting with Adventure and Shimomura followed suit. And even then DL had solid design that didn't feel braindead, plus a whole extra mode that makes the game twice as hard. It wasn't until Kumazaki started directing that it became "Kirby isn't just simple, it's for babies."

minor nitpick but K64 had its midboss theme in the medley, not its boss theme.

Awakening is a dream, what is there to explain?

>ambitious in visual language
This doesn't fucking mean anything, why do people have to make up shit and pontificate when giving their opening on art and aesthetics?

It does not appear he has altered this in any way because you can see the moment he gets hit almost 90% of his HP gets chunked off but the 2nd hit does little damage and does not kill him. So that means the system is still in place. With that retarded Kumazaki Safety Net system in play, you'd take as many as 6 HP piece hits around that HP level anyways and it'd amount to be the same thing, except the difference is that the final 1 HP piece would actually do you in and not keep you barely breathing like an ingrate for no reason. And I don't remember many bottomless pits for the infinite jumps to matter anyways, but still flying over entire levels would trivialize these new buffed enemies. I'm just saying that there's more work that should go into a proper hard mode than just going "LOL I upped the damage numbers on the enemies" and call it a day. It's fucking Kirby, not Dark Souls.

Kirby is allowed to banter with Dedede in most cases, but with everybody else it seems like Kirby’s forte is unintentionally dissing the shit out of everybody rather than bants

No!

MOTHERFUCKING CARAMELO IS BACK

Attached: Kirby paint egg.png (151x97, 35K)

Depends on the book. Some books have lighthearted plots like Kirby and Dedede dressing as a girl to sneak into a party, then there's stuff like Kirby having a mental breakdown over Void Termina's core looking like him.
The Meta Knight books are cool because they actually give some focus to his worst traits.

Eh Teachers Petaknight wasn't in Rainbow Curse anyway. As long as they do shit like that every so often I don't care how much Kuzumaki fucks up the main series.

That's why I agree with that notion in the first place regarding about the safety net on Kirby's health bar, and that there needs to be a balance in damage output. But I disagree with the health bar using the previous system like in most of the classic games and in Amazing Mirror. Super Star's health system had a better handling when compared to the Kumazaki games in my opinion. I don't worry about infinite flying much, but I also don't mind the limited flight either. In my view both can be handled badly if the person doesn't create smart level design with those in mind. Unlimited flight can perhaps make stages easier for the first few stages, but later can place enemies and hazards that would make it more difficult to do so. Also create stages that is suited around infinite flying like that stage in Egg Engines with spikes everywhere and enemies that can cause large explosions or that stage in Adventure where you have to descend down a tree fill with spikes either using a parasol or Kirby's innate ability to fly. Limited flight could be designed more in line to traditional platformers while also keeping wide areas for more combat oriented gameplay. Plus 64 was the only time Kirby's limited flight was in effect, ignoring the other spinoff games, and I would love to see more ideas come off around that gameplay today.

>Kirby and Dedede dressing as a girl to sneak into a party

You got that book on you, user?

Attached: queen dedede.jpg (330x225, 23K)

nope, just going by what someone posted about it.
Apparently Meta Knight got invited to a party, so Kirby sat on Dedede's head and they used a dress, wig and makeup to pretend to be his date so they could eat the party food. People started whispering about MK having strange taste in partners and he didn't like it.

I mean its pretty obvious you cherrypicked for nu-kirby but yeah this is still true. I like pretty much all the main series Kirby games but RtD and onward don't hold a candle to the old ones.

Waddle Dee did the make-up.

I would fucking kill for a Nago plush! If only they'd sell more of them in general around here though.
