On screen we only saw Dante absorb Rebellion's hilt, so Rebellions remaining shards (if they didn't have Dante absorb them somehow at range) could possibly be made a plot point with it's powers now being revealed to be potentially pretty powerful.
I could only see it happen if he took Yamato and/or DSD from Vergil and Dante.
So I'd see it as very unlikely.

I liked the idea of the next game switching between Dante/Vergil in Hell and Nero doing his thing on the human world. The goal of the villains (who may or may not be Mundus-related) is to merge the human and demon realms again and take over.
So for the first third, you play as Dante and Vergil until they get their shit kicked in so the villain can use DSD/Yamato to achieve their plans. Dante keeps DSD and DKA but may have lost a few of his 5 weapons while in Hell but can unlock new ones. Vergil begins with Dark Slayer plus Doppelganger which is where V's moves can be migrated to. Beowulf got destroyed but he can get new Devil Arm movesets of his own like Dante does.
Second third is Nero who's mission is to get the swords back, at which point Dante and Vergil are revived. DSD and Yamato are added to his moveset.
For the last third you have free choice to use any of the three. Nero has enough control over his DT that even if Dante and Vergil get their swords back he can still use spectral versions of them to fight.

That's not a bad idea, I would love to choose between Vergil campaign or Dante campaign in the sequel game for it though and Nero can make an appearance.
Nero can be in the next game though, but seeing no one got DLC for Vergil and we only play as fully fledged Sin Dante at the last half of DMC5 I think it's fitting to see them both be playable.

Thanks, I'm still thinking out whether it's better to have the first third have Dante and Vergil exclusive missions that have you switch between the two or make them open to both. Maybe with branching paths, or better yet, this is where multiplayer can become a thing.
Nero's levels would be exclusive to him so they can focus on improving the Grim Grip mechanics and getting people used to whatever new mechanics he has, plus a mission between retrieving the swords and reviving them.
Afterwards it's full free reign.

I feel like King Cerberus didn't get nearly the fanfare it should've. Was nice to see references to other bosses in his dialogue but the way he showed up was kinda random. Plus you get this brand new weapon with a ton of movesets right at the end of the game with only two bosses to try it out on.
