I think most games won't benefit from good AI, since good AI would usually mimic the player' own capabilities. If a FPS had enemies with thinking, tactics, and aim on par with humans then a room of 10 guys would literally be impossible to go through.

That’s true, every system has its own feel. I had all three of the main consoles last gen and they all felt unique. I actually think the Wii felt the most comfy. Regardless, my ultimate concern is with what games are present and how well they play. PSN felt less alive than Xbox Live and the servers were worse but I didn’t mind because PlayStation had some games that I really enjoyed. I also liked how clean the XMB was. But yeah as long as I can play good video games the shit could look like fisher price and I wouldn’t mind.

To expand on what I meant to say in my post but kinda didnt, the fact that Mafia 2 made the game into a timeline made it so you had to load chapters to fuck around - free roaming was basically non existant in the traditional way, you had a story you HAD to follow and there were only small bits where you could fuck around without feeling you were on the clock story-wise. Like if you wanted to roll around busting cops with a good enough car you had to load chapter 13 and re do the story mission over again, it was a-synchronous and felt wierd as hell, if they do this with GTA it could fuck up the pacing big time, especially considering that they seem to care about story over gameplay, I'm worried they will go this route. chapter based gameplay with more of a focus on the narrative and a beginning and end point for each chapter that essentially cuts off your gameplay.

The PS2 was backward compatibile with PS1 games, so you could pop in a PS1 disc and play.
If you had to re-buy a PS1 game that was put onto a PS2 disc(without remaking/remastering the game) so the PS2 could run it cause it cant run it from the PS1 disc you already own, would you still call that backward compatibility? No.
the ps4 and ps5 both use the same architecture, it literally will just be "stick the disc in and it will work without remaking/remastering/emulating"
