TF2 2007:
>simplistic template-esque character design
>third person taunts
>death cams that show a closeup of your killer
did Valve plan for cosmetics back in the original release already?

tf2 has always been a hat simulator u retard

it didn't launch with cosmetics

>the game will never feel as it did back then
The 60s vibe was so strong, it was serious with a wacky side. Everything was so simple. Part of me wishes we could go back to that, but change was for the best.

Also no, going to a server with cosmetics disabled is not the same.

>change was for the best.
this is undeniable. the game would not be alive over a decade later if not for the change in direction. i'm happy with what we have.

>I'm happy we have a walking corpse that helped popularize microtransactions instead of a memorable fps with a unique art style
tf2 is only alive because it's free, and it hasn't been good for years

The game is basically the same plus cosmetic microtransactions user. If you are going to complain, talk about sideweapons, qol changes, shit maps on the map rotation or the shift from community servers to valve ones.

this, recently played tf2 again beacuse muh nostalgia, absolute shit, nothing has changed and the community is bascially dead

Heavy update isn't happening.

Bullshit. Tonight's the night.

>the game would not be alive over a decade later if not for the change in direction
You're retarded. Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source are still played and Valve never added cosmetic bullshit to them. TF2 could have been the same way. It should have been the same way.

>shadey ass download link
fuck off faggot

Why don't they just hire people who WANT to work on it?
There's fucking plenty.

>white guy listening to rap
opinion discarded, dude has a sub 80 iq so its not like he has anything to say
Yeah that sounds like a good idea, forget about qualifications. If some dude makes a few cosmetics or maps in highschool I'm sure they are ideal for working at a company as major as Valve.

>i'm happy with what we have.

You're happy that Valve killed community servers by introducing matchmaking?

They fucking died with quick play, newfag

If you honestly know a community large enough to float a server that still plays tf2 then their server is still functioning.
>valve killed community servers!
>...but they're still here and your allowed to have them... and I don't know what kill means!

Community servers killed themselves, if you don't remember the thousands of annoying pinyon ads and other atrocities they included just to break even with paying the bills, then you'd know that people by that point started playing on Valve servers to avoid that cancer.

I still remember the Heavy "dong" meme like it was yesterday.....

>Forcing players to get crates/cases that shit up inventory

>>...but they're still here and your allowed to have them... and I don't know what kill means!

Oh, fuck off you obtuse cunt. All the servers I used to play on get zero players on average now. The only ones which survived post quickplay and matchmaking in my region are a bunch of 2fort servers or servers with le wacky maps, and I can tell you that I'm really fucking sick of 2fort. The matchmaking on average takes me thirty minutes before it actually puts me into a game and Valve was completely unable to explain why when I opened a support ticket about it.

Do you live in like the far east Europe or something?

>simple, clean designs so you can tell what a character is by their general silhouette and distribution of whatever few accessories they might have on their person and how the neutral colors are distributed vis-a-vis team colors
>soldier's grenades vs his red coat
>demo's flak vest
>pyro's gas nades and gas tank against his asbestos suit

>third person taunts because what's the point of not knowing what you're doing in the taunt
>deathcams to show closeup of your killer so you know who killed you with what from where to get a general context of how to make the approach and confront them upon respawn, similar to other negative reinforcement like the domination system to passively inform players about threats and what to prioritize

Cosmetics were just something that went from "here is a neat thing we added to the sniper vs spy update" that got insanely out of hand.

>hasn't been good
Define this. The gameplay is still the best there is.
So what if Valve won't update? That sucks, but it's still a fantastic game.

Yeah, never mind the fact that the game let you taunt, and that was the original reason for the close-up on the player who killed you, Valve had always f2p and Mannconomy in mind when they started developing the game, matter of fact, that's why they changed up the original TF2 Brother In Arms idea and changed it to the 50's artstyle, because Valve had just discovered new hat-technology that they could implement into the game.
