So I have to ask again, why did this take so long? These aren't big leaps forward.

It took them so long because gearbox was so preoccupied with battleborn and wanted a slice of the team based shooter pie that overwatch helped ushered in. Since we all know how that went, you can tell they had to hastily push out a game people actually wanted to play.

In 2017 they already showed technical upgrades they were working on, including a demo that clearly showed a character barely different from Moze. I highly doubt BL3 was shelved until like a year ago.

writing is only obnoxious if you are a /pol/tard that can't even handle a gay character. BL2 is gameplay wise by far the best of them all. BL1 is boring due to lack of variety and lack of story, TPS has some stupid mechanics and just not the same feel to it.

The art style get's tired, the writing is abysmal, the gameplay is basic (if not fun). I played both the first and second one a little bit because friends of mine played both, ended up just quitting both after a while because bullet sponge mechanics and constant vulgar humor gets really old. nah, the livestream made it pretty apparent that there have been a lot of graphical improvements. Gameplay wise it's mostly the same, just QoL improvements and new characters, but that's what a fucking sequel is. I thought the stream made it look pretty playable, but I really like BL1 and BL2

I actually liked Borderlands, but this upcoming entry into the franchise does look more like an expansion to 2 than it does a full fledged sequel. Perhaps when more information is released, like the different worlds, for example, it'll seem more grandiose, but as it stands right now, it's more of the what we've already had. Nothing they showed yesterday gave me the impression that the scope, scale, and design has progressed to make it a full fledged sequel. Furthermore, it looks like a lot of the ideas behind BL3, like the spaceship, come from Borderlands Online.
