Shovel Knight is fucking boring. I got it because I love classic Mega Man. It's so slow and tedious

So, let's see:

- Plays like SOTN. Yes, the character moves slow and floaty like Alucard. Everyone requested this.
- Metroidvania layout, plenty of secrets and enemy attack patterns.
- Multiple weapons and skills, a strong request feature after Dawn of Sorrow
- Handles physics adequately. Things like chandeliers break down to pieces that scatter over the ground in a satisfying manner.
- Graphics look more gritty now, though they were obviously downgraded so console players could have their way. Bloodstained has no issues in medium range PCs.
- Main character has big tits. Enemies are uncensored. Developers clearly don't give a fuck.

So all in all, a good effort?

They didn't. The original designs were smaller, until they were homegrown across the KS progress and once more when the new artist entered. Leave it to a female japanese artist to know what areas to grow. If anything, Vepar (the tentacle water boss) was the one that got her tits reduced, but they were instead given a more realistic look, down to having noticeable nipples and actual physics.

I kind of get what you're saying. But I wouldn't call the lighting "vomit". They just over-corrected the problem. In the previous version, the foreground was brighter than the playing field. And the playing field was brighter than the background. Logically, you would think that closer objects should be brighter. But actually, that is what gives the graphics the weird diorama look.

You actually want to the background to be lighter than the foreground. Because is pulls the viewer's perception through the image, creating a better sense of envelopment.

Now, like you said, there are more ways to achieve this effect than what they did. However, if we were only comparing the old shot and the new shot, the new one is relatively better. Thanks to the lighting.

Very much so, though with even more options from what we've seen. There are five types of shards:

Conjure, which are basic attack shards
Manipulative, I don't actually know what this does off hand. I don't remember if it was in the demo
Directional, the ones you aim
Passive, stuff that give passive buffs
Familiar, which is...well a familiar

So you have more options than you did in Aria/Dawn that you can actively use at once (Familiar, Directional and Conjure) and they also added a real time loadout system so you can swap between eight sets at will. It's going to end up really robust all told.
