Why does everyone hate them?

Why does everyone hate them?

They give a much higher revenue split to developers than steam does

Nice bait, heterosexually challenged individual

>They give a much higher revenue split to developers than steam does
i dont give a fuck about the devs
what do they offer me the consumer?

>They give a much higher revenue split to developers than steam does
The game still costs me $60.
The fuck do I care?

to publishers*
Most developers are paid by the hours they put work in, unless you're an indie dev you're not going to see higher salaries as a developer. People hate Epic Games because they do the exact opposite of competition by buying out games they are not affiliated with and making them exclusive to their platform, which lacks a ton of features that are essential to being a pc launcher. A lot of the lacking features can also describe why Epic sees that an 88/12 split makes sense, they don't have to offer the infrastructure nor put money into developing competitive features against Steam.

Because it's a shitty spyware platform.

>They give a much higher revenue split to developers than steam does
Then why the fuck are games the same price if not more expensive on epic than on steam? I’m not gonna suck their dick for something that doesn’t affect the consumer.

I'm not a developer

They also give higher prices to their customers outside the US and EU.
Truly the hero we deserve.

Due to how these digital markets operate, the goal is not to provide a superior product to the consumer, but rather to muscle your way into micro-monopolies.

This is the exact thing that is killing streaming services right now.

Because I'm not a dev, but a consumer.
And they shit on the consumer.

>They give a much higher revenue split to publishers
Ftfy
>B-B-but the benefits will trickle down and we'll get better games!
Refer to what happens literally every other time that model is used.

Jesus are u guys even trying with the bait anymore

Literally this. Nobody gives a shit about the devs getting "more" money when it doesn't change anything. And the funnier part is that the publishers are the ones pocketing the money. Just look at how Obsidian didn't even know about the deal until after the announcement.

they give more money to publishers who then still shittily pay and treat the devs, indieshit sells fuck all on it

discord store gives even more to devs, why don't they go to that store?

They offer better revenue split to developers, but the price of games remains the same
Going along with the "Developers decide the winner, not consumers" quote they've dropped means that their entire strategy is anti-consumer, that they can safely ignore the people who play the games in favor of buying out popular games like rocket league or borderlands. That they're so up front about how little they care for the consumer is a huge turnoff for me. They're laughing in people's faces and telling them that they don't matter, so I don't doubt they're going to use their exclusives and how many devs/publishers they pull in to enact more shitty business practices while forcing people to use their platform

>Why does everyone hate them?
Simple
>say they will tone down the exclusive scummy shit
>not long after saying this Tim himself says "lol no we're still going to do it"
>The whole "spyware" debacle with their launcher
>Tim denies the launcher collects data from steam unless the user wants to import friends list
>turns out he was blatantly lying about it and it collects info on startup of the launcher without user input
>Tim also says it only collects contact information
>this is also proven to be a lie
>Tim himself talks bad about exclusives
>does a 180 and is totally fine with exclusives now because he's doing it
Basically Tim is untrustworthy and too scummy for me to put trust into ANYTHING he's a part of. Not to mention nearly half of Epic is owned by Tencent.

Stop spreading lies to bait retards tranny, they don't give anything to the devs, they're paid by hour like any other worker.
Go dilate.

>Just look at how Obsidian didn't even know about the deal until after the announcement.
Is there any source for this?

Devs do not see any of that revenue split. It all goes to the publishers. And devs can go fuck themselves. I truly don't care about their well being any more than any other stranger's. When Epic Store offers a service as good as Steam i'll buy games from them.

>They give a much higher revenue split to developers than steam does
I'm not a dev, I am a customer.
They don't give me shit.

Take it with a grain of salt.
