They disregarded that even though Diadem was a flop, it was still a great place to gather and didn't bother to integrate DoH/DoL content into Eureka. Not only that, they created a bunch of instances that were completely separate from the bulk of the game but didn't even attempt to experiment properly until we got to Pyros (with logos actions) and Hydros (with BA).

I think the entire thing would have benefit more with the inclusion of leves, some daily/weekly content, DoH/DoL integration and tuning it more towards smaller (as in player number, not physical size), but more objective based instances.

They had a playground to throw as much shit at the wall as possible to see what would stick with no repercussions and instead they delivered 4 pieces of largely tepid grind-a-thons.

The balance is pretty good right now I think, no job is really in a bad place except for WHM and DRK, and even they can do fine, their counterparts just do their job better. Even now jobs only get 'benched' if you're going for a speed kill or trying to pad out parses, so if they don't fuck up the trajectory they're on it'll probably be alright, maybe even with a few more jobs sneaking into the speedkill meta on occasion.

SCH at 70 has the most options out of any healer, but it's gonna be pretty slow for a good while.

Because it always feels kinda bad to know that your class preference is holding the group back and they'd have an easier time if you played something else.

If the fights all have the entire party waling on a single target, you'll get comps that are good when everyone's waling on a single target. Having more fights split the party up or having a bigger focus on AOE encounters during the fight or shit like that would probably shake things up more than some number tweaks.

I mean, if your only measure of viability is whether you can conceivably clear content or not then sure, but some compositions will do it much faster and easier than others. Certain jobs are also borderline unviable for progression (BLM, SAM). It's a lot better than most MMOs (especially nip MMOs which usually boil down to tank, support and then stacking as many of the best DPS class as possible) but you would expect that when most jobs in a given role play more or less the same.

The ninja quests are actually pretty good but that's mostly because Karasu (and your unintelligible rogue buddies later on) carry the fuck out of it. Obobobo or whatever his name is also gets a bit more entertaining further in.

No, this is completely untrue.
I had a SAM that cleared God Kefka on the first week of release, also BLM is in extremely good shape, while a RDM would be better for progression, it's only that great for world firsts where seeing mechanics ahead of time (or more importantly seeing the end of a mechanic) is vital.
These kind of things are only needed for the first day or two when people are racing, it's not even the top 0.1% at this point, it's lower and something that doesn't need discussing because there'll ALWAYS be someone who's slightly better than the other no matter the game.

There is not a single job that isn't in a top 10 clear for at least one fight, and if you go to pre-echo where competition was a bit more fierce, the only two jobs I didn't see were WHM and RDM, which both at least have a niche of being really good at progression. My cohealer and myself both have a preferred job, but there's a common understanding that if our preferred job is lacking compared to the third option, we'll switch. Since we both care a lot about combined healer DPS, this isn't an issue between us.

It's easy to think that people wanting high performance jobs are being toxic elitists, but a lot of us just want to feel like we're giving each other the best possible environment to play to the best of our ability.

Need a house to do it. So unless there's a ton of plots available, you have little choice.

I've been playing it for a while as I'm waiting for SHB and the entire comparison could basically be summed up as "yeah I'm hitting buttons a bit faster on average than in FFXIV but there's less buttons to hit and they're less interesting mechanically and less satisfying visually/aurally"

There is no reason to assume that a good comp is more likely to have bad players. But good players playing a good comp will have more leeway in their execution, and less time you have to deal with mechanics.

If you can do the normal mode fights without keeping the floor company the entire time you'll be able to adjust to the extreme fights eventually, but there's an enrage timer so you have to actually try. Once you learn the fight your party members are going to be your biggest enemy, especially this late in the expac.

You might not believe this but the mechanics of pressing buttons is actually a part of making gameplay fun and engaging; pressing 123 is more fun than pressing 111. You could just as easily argue that because job rotations rarely require any decision making, the optimal way to execute them is always the same, then you should just condense the entire rotation into 1 or 2 buttons.

I like the slower pace of combat in FFXIV.

Not everything needs to be as fast paced as everything else.

I’ve done Thordan Extreme and that was pretty easy. Although I’m a solo player, I don’t really have much difficulty with any boss fights unless my teammates are being retards. Rathalos Extreme taught me how stupid people are.

There's no need to come across as disingenuous, user. There's a reason I highlighted group cohesion in my first post, since it's an important part of a static's longevity regardless if there's a collective desire to play optimally or not, and that all comes down having a common understanding of each other's goals and outlook before you even bother to trial them.

If your group isn't solely focussed on simply getting your weekly clears, then cultivating a group that enjoys the game and environment they play in is very desirable. Why would I want a BLM one-trick who doesn't enjoy any other job in the game when I know I can get someone who likes to play every caster to a similar capacity, and maybe dabbles on BRD on the side?
