Not even comparable. One of the big three buying up a dead IP and making it exclusive might be frustrating if you don't own that specific console, but at least there will be other exclusives to justify the purchase and the mainstream exposure from being a first party release is more likely to secure a future for said IP. The Wii U may have been a failure but Bayonetta lives on. This Earthworm Jim scenario is the original creators trying to generate hype for their brand new console with a single game from an IP that has been dead for 20 years. You're delusional if you think this thing is going to have a future or any other exclusives or that having to pay $150 for a console for a single fucking game is okay.

i might buy the console just for Warlords alone, i loved that game on my Atari, so the rest of the fans of EWJ could just go on and pretend that EWJ is still gone, nothing has changed.

Bayonetta 2 was outright cancelled before Nintendo stepped in and paid for its revival, it was either Bayo U or no Bayo at all.

This will only be the same situation if only the Intellivision crew cared enough to finance the title and it wouldn't have existed otherwise.

I'll play it in a few years when Intellivision goes bankrupt and starts making all of those Amico exclusives multiplats, assuming they aren't just vaporware. I would just prefer to cut out the middleman and not someone try to take advantage of me for being a fan.

The better route would've been to just start a game studio and make multiplats. Look at what the ToeJam and Earl guys are doing. That's how you revive a dead IP as indie devs. You don't try to break into the console business with such a shaky foundation. I'd like to be wrong, it would be nice to see some of the classics make a triumphant return and it would be great if this revived EWJ, but what's more likely is that this thing is going to die and kill off every associated franchise for another decade or two.
