i always fucking hated it
boring pieces of shit games with little merit
DW9 happened
The genre is kusoge
KT making shitty games is what happened
Because I don't give a shit about ancient chinese history. It had one period where it was almost interesting and it was still boring as fuck. If you want me to play a musou it needs to be about characters and settings that don't put me to sleep.
You can only play the same game so many times before it loses its magic, plus as said there's a very good reason it fell so completely
I'd say it's about damn time for a Pirate Warriors 4
oversaturation will do that to a series
KT made the spinoffs like hyrule warriors and we realized the genre would be a lot more fun with settings and characters we actually cared about
ok ok I hear all your criticisms
what do you like about DW then?
Orochi > Samurai > Dynasty
It is legitimately fun to turn your brain off and tear through armies like they're paper. Empires lets you create a shota MC and take over the world with your MILF harem
Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires was the only one I ever liked, but it's one of my favorite games
This. After DW5E it was all down hill. SW2E was also acceptable.
If I wanted to turn my brain off I would apply a .38 to the head
based
It's hard to play the newer games when they are full to the brim with DLC.
I still love it but the latest is meh
cringe
This comment legitimately didn't add anything at all to the conversation and we've both completely wasted time because of it.
One of the best metal soundtracks
understandable
It's all about the dramatic kino, if you don't enjoy that then ur a pleb
What is the best dynasty warriors/samurai warriors empire game to play if I like to spend a lot of time as an officer instead of a ruler? I currently own 7E. Also, what's up with all those Rot3K strategy games? Are they any good? I was thinking about buying 13 and the power up kit but I might not if its garbage.
DW5/SW2
I'll always remember them telling you not to fight Lu Bu cause you're not strong enough and trying to beat him anyway.
DW9 fell for all the worst memes.
It's too bad because at they same time they actually did something with the combat system.
I like this game
Because musou genre is always shit
KT should let Omega Force stick with monhunt genre
I havnt played since 5
Are the latest ones any good?
Series peaked a decade ago and has only gotten worse. What more do you honestly need to be told?
I’m looking forward to the total war version but otherwise I don’t care about Chinese history
Hardcore fan of the series since the beginning. But DW9 was disgusting. Its a shame because with the budget of AAA studios, they make amazing stuff. Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Switch are unironically the best Warriors games ever made. Cannot wait for Persona Scramble.
Because Samurai Warriors is vastly superior.
honestly i wish the gameplay had evolved more over the years. the addition of ex attacks don't really cut it for me. would be great if they could free up the movesets more. like being able to assign the triangle finisher to a different input so you aren't locked to the same square string before you get to the triangle finisher. would have so much more combination potential, like sengoku basara. also cut way the fuck back on the amount of characters and with the smaller roster, spend more time creating a unique playstyle for them. basically sengoku basara
because musou games are boring.
>better than One Piece Warriors
I dont think so bub
Fucking Koei still charge $60 for their games that never ever go on sale, that's what.
I just want to fucking buy Berserk
Last game I played was DW5 on xbox and I’m sorry to hear that
I always that this was a fun series to play
You know what didn't get worse with later DWs?
The soundtrack
I've only played Hyrule Warriors Legends, I'm trying to collect all the level three weapons right now.
It's a grind, but the kind that I like.
I see this comment a lot but one piece is kinda a shit source material for these kind of games. i really could not get into it.
ROTK as a series is a mixed bag, haven't really heard anything good about it since XI (which is tons of fun) and some of the titles before that were rpg hybrids instead of straight up strategy games. Speaking of which, try ROTK X if you like the idea of playing as an officer, you control one guy and rise up the ranks in that. Recruiting good lads and delegating tasks is key the higher up you go because the perspective doesn't let you control everything like an omniscient god
>character has a perfectly satisfying combo except for one attack in the sequence that makes him reposition like a retard and ruin the flow
>character has a basic combo that makes him do some retarded moves that are annoying to aim correctly
>character has a combo with floaty wide moves that frequently don't connect properly and make it all retarded
>character has a gimmick weapon that's more trouble than it's worth
>character lunges forward for like 40 feet every time you do a combo
Etc...
monhun is slow boring shit though
>Hardcore fan of the series since the beginning.
Absolute chad
>wtf happened?
I can only play the same fucking story for so long user. Every Dynasty Warrios for the last 10+ years has been a fucking rehash of a rehash.
Honestly I lost interest when they introduced the Jin faction.
I love DW1's stupid ass endings so much

FEEL THE POWER OF MY
MEEEEEEEHHHHJJJJIIIIIICK
Actually, I was listening to "The Salvation" earlier and wanted to play another DW game but I haven't played since 5, which one should I try? I already heard DW9 is bad.
Bladestorm is the best of the bunch, but some aren't a fan.
Warriors Orochi is going in a direction I approve of.
They're the japanese call of duty except activision has the decency to wait a year between releases.
They're interesting at first but you play more than one you realise they're all the same shit
I fucking love that game so much.
7 for a better narrative structure.
8 for gameplay.
i prefer 7 overall, some design decisions in 8 that i dont like how they purposely made allies shittier so you have to baby them some more.
XI looks pretty good, but X definitely seems like my cup of tea, thank you for the recommendation. I'll probably emulate the PS2 version, though if the steam version has a decent English patch I might try that instead.
It can be mindless fun.
beyond that I actually genuinely loved the way that the hypothetical missions worked in DW8.
For example, one of the missions, the battle of Chi bi, usually ends with your armada catching on fire, and your forces having to evacuate the burning ships and pass through a mountain pass where you keep getting ambushed.
However, if you've been accomplishing specific (hidden) tasks on each mission leading up to that battle, you get extra cutscenes, several characters who normally die instead survive, and can be played on later stages, etc. This leads up to Chi Bi where this time you can play a hypothetical version where your now much stronger army weathers the fire attack, and rather than retreating, begins launching attack ships towards the cliffs where the enemy army is stationed.
Also the music kicks into overdrive when this starts playing as you board the ships to attack the cliffs: youtube.com
Finally, completing the mission unlocks several new missions that are essentially alternate history battles predicated on the idea of "what could have happened if Wei won at the battle of chi bi."
It was just a super interesting addition to the game and I thoroughly enjoy games that reward players for playing well by saying "No you know what? This otherwise unwinnable battle? You won it, by being that good. Here's an alternate story route."
The basic enemies got nerfed to fuck and don't pose any kind of threat at all.
Toukiden was kinda ass and kind of missed the point of MH in some areas, especially reaction. Surprised the devs haven't followed up with anything like Kiwami for the second game or another sequel though, at least it's still better than the shitheap that is Dauntless.
Not that I disagree anyway.
orochi warriors empires when
Still less boring than musou though
What's the best musou in terms of character growth and variety?
thicc
Because if I want to buy a musou I'll buy one of the hundred branded ones so I have something more colourful to look at while the game plays itself.
Empires is the only good thing from this franchise
you had to turn your brain off to post your post dumb faggot
I loved playing DW4 with my bro.
Killing Lu Bu was the Apex of the game, though.
>wanpissfags defending a trash genre
like pottery
It doesn't have to be Want Piss, it could be Zelda, Fire Emblem, even Person now.
Moving Colours comes in many brands these days.
POST YOUR FAVORITE OST HERE
muh nigga.
DW became a pointless game where you press one button and are rewarded with 50 kos. They keep doing bullshit like ripping away weapons from characters to sell them as dlc, some we already had to buy in previous and they want to sell it again. Its pretty obvious they don't giva a shit anymore just look at DW9 and the couple DW Empires. Did you like a feature in previous game? Removed in the next. To top it off they put all their dev time into retarded costume dlc, making characters that have no relevance in the three kingdom novel for muh waifu. This franchise is dead and we will never see another game like this.
They went to shit is what happened. Before they were at least serviceable in the gameplay department, massive in the content department, and what kept them going was a unique perspective on historical figures, events, and relationships therein only mostly hindered by Chinese propaganda (rather than completely hindered). Now the gameplay is dumber than ever (and it was pretty fucking dumb to start with), the content focus is on stupidly large rosters with an absurd amount of crossover when it comes to movesets while demanding more money for weapons, maps, and scenarios which once would have come as standard, and every historical aspect is flanderised to hell and back with a focus shift on pointless waifus and bishie boys to draw in slathering retards who think Chink genocide games should focus more on providing them masturbation material than on Chink genocides. I will always love DW5 and SW2, but until Koei gets their fucking shit together the modern series is dead to me.
what about spin offs? them mother fuckers tend to be good and interesting in different ways compared to those. To the point of me thinking that them motherfuckers could have implemented some of that shit in the main games but choose to instead let that shit suffer simply to have shit to throw in for them fucking licensed games.
>anymore
Warriors formula was always highly niche. You see some like Hyrule Warriors that coasted on the IP they were working with, but it has highly limited appeal in what it is.
>that one glitch in DW8 you could abuse to level character to max level in a matter of seconeds
>leveled all charecters to level 99 Before the devs could patch it
made my experience with DW8XL that much better. most fun i had in a DW game.
Biggest difference when they're working with an existing license is it seems like Omega has someone watching over their shoulder making sure they don't fuck up.
DW2-5 are GOAT. SW1 is GOAT.
Come for the mass asian genocide, stay for the history lesson.
Dynasty Warriors PSP was also interesting.
mfw no Pirate Warriors Empires where you put together your crew and sail the world in dynamic story mode
DW8XLCE has an insane amount of content even if you don't buy any scenario DLC. Story was a step down from DW7, but at the same time it's also the most developed game in the sense of lacking clone characters and such.
Is Warriors Orochi 4 good? I really loved Orochi 3, but with 9's failures I'm not sure what to expect.
Thanks anyway guys.
ROTK series is great all-around, but there are couple of games that vary it up. Like how X focused way more on character development and RPG aspects rather than actual grand strategy, for example.
Probably one of the Empires games, although I'm not very familiar with them.
Something to remember in 7v8 is 7's side mode (Conquest) is a thousand times better than 8's side mode (Ambition). 8 has more characters and more movesets, but that's all it has, the gameplay isn't improved (outside of the larger moveset pool; even then most of 8's new weapons are in 7 as DLC, so if you pirate you'll have them anyway) and every other aspect 7 does better.
It's good but sorely lacking in content, you've got the story mode and the basic bitch challenge mode if you pay extra for it, and that's it. Pirate or wait for sale.
>a unique perspective on historical figures
>every historical aspect is flanderised to hell and back
DW7 had a more accurate historical take than any of the games preceding it by a fucking mile. What are you on about?
They got slowly more ridic over time. I started with 2. Also Koei never patched samwars 4 and the online was broken. Also Basara blew it away.
DW7 was released eight fucking years ago.
Warriors Orochi 4 is the real DW9 as far as I'm concerned.
>Yea Forums only know dynasty warriors and hyrule warriors
fuck this gay place
you faggots dont even play musou games
All the fanservice the crossover titles bring
Why would anyone? Musou games are trash.
>change triple rush moves form WO3 to some stupid magic shit
WO3 ultimate is much better game than this crap
Because they've never been able to replicate the quality of 3&4. The last truly good one was 5 and that was like 15 years ago.
>Because they've never been able to replicate the quality of 3&4.
...But 5 was easily better than both?
Who the fuck is this fat cunt?
5 is great but soulless compare to 4
8 is a great game you faggot
It's the same shit. Only exceptions are Ken's Rage which is more of a traditional beat 'em up and Dragon Quest which is a kind of tower defense.
>samurai warriors 4-II (only few new things but i like it)
>warriors orochi 3 ultimate
>sengoku basara 3
What about them?
>he hasn't imported SB4
its not same shit
>
I just love 3
4 is a straight upgrade on 3 in every conceivable way other than lacking localisation.
Chamy >>>>>>> discount buttrock
youtube.com
KT just made all their games into a low effort shit
I know user
sad thing ENG version never ever
3 is game i play with my little brother thats why i love it
Weapon switching was the death of the series. It made an already repetitive game even more repetitive.
Before that you picked a character that looked cool and had to adapt to his weapon/style.
i havent played dynasty warriors since i was a kid, what are some good ones, also what are some nice simmular games where you get to wreck armies?
Drakengard
Drakenguard is terrible in gameplay but it's worth a playthrough for being insane
The gameplay formula of Musou games are sound. It's an unpretentious entry level action game. It's not trying to be DMC or a Platinum game and that's fine.
The problem? It's oversaturated as fuck and increasingly lacking polish. You will be hard pressed to find anyone who flips assets as shamelessly as Koei Tecmo.
The open world of DW9 is a big much needed shakeup in gameplay for a very stale genre, but even that was laughably underdeveloped and ended up ruining the scripted set pieces of battles as a compromise to boot.
So yeah, these games suck now and I say this as someone who wasted enough time to platinum a few.
Play western games, like Shadow of Mordor/War, Mount and Blade Warband, For Honor.
5XL has Destiny mode, the most soulful mode in all of DW.
Honestly, I really never cared for the source material of Dynasty Warriors, which is probably why I only like very few characters and it's mostly their weapons I like using. I've always prefer the licensed spin-offs. Especially Gundam Musou.
