All the weapons in the game are the same. They have the exact same moveset, just differing range, damange numbers and swing speed. A spear handles exactly as a sword, or a fucking lute.

This is the nature of all games now. Video games are so popular that there's a huge volume of people who will charge in specifically looking to find a meta to exploit, then complain when their exploitation of the meta leads to a dead game where there's nobody else to metafag to death besides other metafags and the whole game just becomes people doing the same thing at varying levels of competency.

If there is a meta strategy, it absolutely will become dominant after the initial surge of players dies down. That will keep away new players and contribute to the inevitable death of the game. That is just how games work nowadays. I honestly have no idea what the devs could do to counter that other than constantly nerf metashitters which will just result in the diehard players quitting anyways.

The thing is that Chivalry devs could've done something to counter the bayblade meta.
They could've done the same thing as Mordhau and simply lock your mouse sensitivity once you start swinging, or tweak damages so that you'd only be able to dish minimal damages at the start of the animation rather than throw out max damages from the tip of your sword on the first few frames of animations, and I'm sure there could've been other options as well but instead they simply decided to do nothing and now the game is a ghost town populated only by the 20 tryhards that still play.

I don't think the team based gamemodes will die down because of their chaotic nature. It doesn't matter if you're a metafaggot when three guys are throwing pans at you.

The game has already had those chivaly meta-autists for a year in the alpha. All the cheesy techs and meta techingues have already been discovered, and it's not that bad.

i would say no. it's helpful to not get picked off by some faggot throwing axes after a fight, but everyone just uses the biggest weapon they can get and you get 1 or 2 shotted regardless of armor. so there's really no reason to not just go full armor.

I feel that way about two handed and anything heavy instead.
You can't trade hits in this game so what's the point of having a giant slow weapon when some guy with a rapier or a falchion can just spam attack you to death.
I bought the great axe and I only managed to get a single kill for an entire match.

Unless they add some sort of poise or hyper armor, which I doubt, then there is very little reason to not use a small fast weapon.

because the swing speed between a rapier and a zweihander are marginally different. even a dagger feels like it weighs 30 metric tons and the swing animation looks like it was filmed in slowmotion. i get that it's like that so people have time to react for parries, but the variance needs to get pumped up. when i was using the hand axe, i was constantly trading parries with mauls and greatswords. that is absurd that they can swing and recover just as fast as my little one hand axe.
